There are times when your team loses but make you hold your head high in pride. Yesterday, the way we played, the performance of the players and the manager were all sub-standard and to some extent shameful.

There is no discussion on who’s the favourite for this match. Chelsea would be really upset if they miss out on the first trophy of the season. The quadruple still being a possibility, Avram and Chelsea will go all out to retain the trophy.

‘Clinical’ is the right word, or ‘typical’ would suit even better. Chelsea earns a well deserved place in what would the first final of this season. It was not a smooth sailing as such. Everton put up a very spirited display but in the end, that extra bit of quality in Chelsea players won the [...]

Let’s get ready to reach the second league cup final in two years. After the Spurs completely outplayed and outclassed Arsenal for a brilliant 5-1 win, we should be wary of how different things can be in the second leg. But I don’t see Chelsea losing with a 4-goal margin even without a goalkeeper.

Last season, the one thing that was eluding us all along was luck. Same time last period, we saw own goals by Essien and Ashley Cole giving away crucial points, also got us the fame as the team that hit the woodwork most number of times etc. No worries this time as we got our [...]

Avram Grant is just two steps away from his first Chelsea trophy. Beat Everton tonight and see off Arsenal in February, you got the trophy! If his continues to carry his luck, the Spurs could have a famous victory over their North London rivals and meet us in the finals, only to get beaten by [...]

Not the high intensity match I was expecting for. Rafa Benitez spoiled the whole party by selecting a team with about half a dozen second string players. He has valued the weekend Portsmouth game more than the League Cup. We know that his first team has been playing in successive matches with short intervals. Last [...]

Not everytime a league cup quarter final would be such a crucial match. With the gap among the top four really reducing, every trophy matters, including the less celebrated league cup. As early as December, either Avram Grant’s team or Rafa Benitez’ team would get eliminated from a cup competition. Every defeat against top four [...]

Must have been an incredible match! The short story is we conceded three, we were leading at half time, we nearly lost our home league (league + domestic cup, that is) record and score two goals in three minutes to avoid embarrassment. Should have been a good tactical test for the team of Avram, Ten [...]

Can lightning strike twice? Chelsea FC’s official website screen flashes these words along with the odds 40-1 of Chelsea doing another 6-0. That’s the problem of doing well. Now, we won’t be happy with a good 2-0 win over Leicester. We would want more.

The season is over. Now these guys can play as many international friendlies as they want. What do we do until July? Let’s keep talking and following football in some form or the other. In this blog, we’ll use this inter-season gap for some truly interesting debates and discussions. In what ended as a good [...]
