Have you recovered from that disastrous night? Well, you might say you never will. At least a night's sleep should have brought a lot of sense. I couldn't write the match reaction post after the match. So now, after more 24 hours from the defeat, I look back at the match, its key moments and what this result could and should mean to us.
Injustice. Sheer injustice. Anyway congrats to Man Utd but even Fergie would acknowledge that the better team lost. As much as the defeat I could not stand the sight of an inconsolable Terry and a weeping Ballack. They do not have to feel guilty or ashamed. They played a great final and were just 2 seconds away from winning it. It's cruel but that's football.
JM once said, there are champions and there are losers. He did not value being a runner up or a finalist. He said that in the context of the big teams such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd, Liverpool and he did in fact add Chelsea to that list. That's very true.
What a night! What a performance from the Blues! This would be one of my most memorable matches as a Chelsea fan. Didn’t you love that celebration from Drogba? Didn’t you love his crazy dance with Steve Clarke? How about that penalty from that English footballer who won’t make it to the Euro?
I’ve never been this nervous before a match in many months. Probably I won’t be so nervous even for the finals of the champions league (if we reach). The fact that we have that away goal and that we have the upper hand in fact makes me restless instead of comforting me.
Let me admit it. It's all getting very embarrassing now. We seem to survive on an own goal even in a champions league semi final. But to be fair, this settles the score for the goal that did not cross the line. Now the scoreline says that we are the favourites to reach Moscow! Wow!
On Tuesday night, Chelsea will get another chance to avenge their semi final defeats. Revenge is not on the minds of the players says Lampard and I don't believe him. I simply need the bragging rights this time. Let me sound arrogant and call Liverpool our bogey team but I want the jinx to end now.
It's champions league. It's the semi final. It's Chelsea vs Liverpool. At this level, what could decide the tie is the pressure on the managers and the motivation of the players. I count Chelsea as the favourites this time and I'll be terribly disappointed not to beat them. I'll tell you why.
So it's the scousers again. Chelsea did not play very well but if one team deserved to win at Stamford Bridge last night it certainly was Chelsea. It's fair to say Fenerbahce flattered to deceive for all the hype. Either they're little over rated or are more inconsistent than us at the moment.
We are no longer favourites for this tie and Fenerbahce has given enough reasons to be taken very seriously. While Stamford Bridge won’t be ‘hell’, it would be no where near heaven either. Zico would know that they don’t have to try anything too adventurous. They just need a draw. For Avram Grant, a win [...]
There goes the easiest champions league draw. There were no goals from a Chelsea boot but at least there is an away goal that keeps our hopes alive. Fener started poorly but their second half performance justified the final result. Even the colossal Avram Grant luck of an own goal could not prevent a defeat [...]
I’d be watching Arsenal vs Liverpool tomorrow night. Not because we are playing so poorly but because our match is not televised by my satellite channel provider. I’ll be in BC Shout just to get updates from those guys who are able to watch the match live. Turkey is a tough place to get results. [...]
