I’ve been gone for a bit. I needed some time to recover after the fiasco in Moscow. I was having a severe depression spell where the only time I could stop thinking about Chelsea losing the European Cup was when I was sleeping. I tried to distance myself as much as I could.

Chelsea FC Premier League Review 07/08

Chelsea Football Club has finished the 2007/2008 Premier League season with 85 points and in second place. I think this is a fully deserved second place for the club. You could argue that it was a poetic-justice that we conceded the late goal to Bolton to take us off level with the champions, Manchester United. The fact is simple: we weren't the best team over 38 games.

Cristiano Ronaldo has deservedly won the PFA award for the player of the year this season. We already knew that there were no nominations from Chelsea in the shortlist. But I never thought that there won’t be even one Chelsea player in the PFA team of the year!

Do We Deserve Any Trophies This Season?

I was thinking about this today. We are in contention for only two trophies which happen to the the biggest prizes of the season. Realistically, we can win both. The probability may not be high but it is certainly possible to win the league title and champions league. Do we deserve these trophies this season? As [...]

What is a good season? The answer to this question would vary from club to club, depending on various factors especially their ambitions, their investment and their history. As far as Chelsea is concerned, the club has the ambition, heavy amount of investment has gone into the club and the history of scarce success means [...]

First Chelsea defeat in the fifth match of a long season. I was disappointed that we didn’t get three points, yes three points, and for clarity I’m not talking about a draw here. But I was not disappointed with the way we played. We played some different kind of stuff, which for any other top [...]

We’ve been discussing quite heatedly about Jose Mourinho and Chelsea’s playing style under him. So, I thought I’ll tell you what I feel. Jose has been getting a lot of criticism from various quarters for various reasons. I’d like to analyze to see if he really deserves this amount of criticism. Remember, he’s a darling [...]

Thanks to Joeblue for reminding me of this piece, which has been long overdue. I’ve tried to rate as many players as possible here. This is supposed to be a reflection of the matches they had played this season, for instance, if someone played only 3 matches and were fantastic in all three, they’d get [...]

During the season, we always talked about why this was a completely wrecked campaign. We’ve experienced all those Murphy’s laws in just one season. I’ve just grouped below the major reasons in my opinion, that have resulted in Chelsea ending up 6 points lesser than Man Utd. Also I’ve made this a sticky post for [...]
