No doubt Spurs fans are going to blame Redknapp being so heavily linked with the England job for their decline this season, but is that justified? Isn’t this what they do every season? Their squad has no depth, it hasn’t been rotated nearly well enough and as the whole country is finding out, they have no tactical alternatives for when things start going wrong.
But who cares what’s wrong with Spurs? We won! I make that 8 Wembley wins in 10 and now our incredible run in the FA Cup continues. In six years we’ve only lost once over 90 minutes in the Cup and that was a freak loss to Barnsley!
Drogba was awesome leading the line, surely securing himself a place in the starting XI on Wednesday. Mata was ingenious, to not only set up Ramires (who scored a Messi-esque chipped goal, which surely even the man himself would’ve been proud of) but also to score without actually kicking the ball over the line – that takes some talent! Lampard and Malouda also scored to complete the rout.
“Sh*t club – no history!” they may chant, but four cup finals in six years will go down in history eventually. I have a feeling that 100 years into the future though, history will still stop at 2003 for Spurs fans.

I hope we play with the same team and we can seriously damage Barca. Our squad was fantastic. Didier is a team of his own. If we start with Torres it might be very problematic. Lets hope for a Didier start.
Great win….if we won by 2-1 margin then all the media will report it was just our LUCK and referee mistake..GOAL LINE TECHNOLOGY…BLAAA….But Today’s display was SOLID Credit to RDM for the great JOB he has done at CHELSEA…DROGBA was SUPERB. we need him for the BARCA GAME…….What is the status of David Luiz ?????
I think our overall display yesterday was awesome, barring the hapless bosingwa gettin scythed by bale again and again… regardless of the contentious mata “goal”… i think we moved the ball much better and created much more.. i might agree that if adebayor had slotted VDV’s looped cross things might have been different.. but the same can be said for mata’s miss and drogba’s misjudged volley.. overall.. the guys were playing in very positive frame of mind.. which was heartening to see…
The match was something like a sumptuous feast of sorts… Drogba’s goal was the deligthful starter that set the tone for the match.. we probably were drooling for the starter a wee to much and over ate (mata’s goal).. then we had a slight hiccup due to the overeating (bale’s goal). but then we brought on the delicious main course (Lamps and Ramires goal)… and to finish our dinner we had a mild dessert.. (malouda’s goal)… all-in-all an awesome meal after which we go for a peaceful sleep.
I hope we go to camp nou with at least a single goal advantage and of course without conceding an away goal!!! KTBFFH!!!
My first instinct was that Mata’s was not a goal. And it probably wasnt. But a friend sent me this…’

People! Are you guys on twitter? I’ve been tweeting this picture since yesterday and this has for retweeted several times. The ball did cross the line.
MatBlue: Still not a goal, though. The whole ball has to be behind the line. No chance here.
Anyway, who cares; the Liverpool “ghost goal” is partly undone
@Ronin: Shadow of the ball…ehhh?? Even shadows of all those big players standing there aren’t visible…From where are you able to see shadow of the ball , sir ?? From Mata’s angle it looks 100% goal …no wonder he celebrated like Olivia Wilde just accepted his proposal .
Have faith guys! The picture is not an optical illusion. It’s on the official Chelsea website. The point about shadows is funny. Firstly do we know where the sun or the light source was when this happened and where the shadow should be. Plus the ball was too close an there was too much commotion to clearly see the shadows. The way I see it the ball crossed the line.
That pic was taken from an angle from goal line, and is biased. Inconclusive, at best.
But I don’t care, we’ve given away no-goals against both Liverpool (Luis Garcia goal, can never forget in my life!) and Barca, this feels a bit like poetic justice….
There is no chance that ball crossed the line. There’s no way of telling where the ball in that picture is with respect to the goal post. It didn’t look in from any angle on the television replays and ITV’s computerized replay that edited out all of the players, showed it was atleast six inches infront of the goal line when it was kicked backwards.

It is funny how after Chelsea won the headlines didn’t rejoice about the win such as the Man U game but rather would like o focus on the second gaol. Yes if we had won 2-1 then maybe howeverit was 5 – Sad the number of people who only like to talk about Chelsea in a bad light. Guess people really wanted to see Tottenham vs Liverpool however with Drogba’s first goal he definately made sure of that -Chelsea are probably the strongest team in the league and always have been i’m sure sir alex knows this.
I’m a bit worried of the injuries and believe we can come away with a goal or two against Barcelona on the away. I know that very few people belive we can beat Barcelona however remember this is football not all teams that deserve to win ,win.
I don’t trust that ITV graphic. I see the picture and I see that it’s crossed the line. You can surely say that it’s not straightforward and the benefit should have gone to Spurs. But for me, it crossed the line and it was a goal. Not at first sight – but based on the picture on official Chelsea website. Will the dubious goals committee award this goal to Mata?
A computer graphic (probably the product of some software that cost £100,000s to develop), shown by an unbiased broadcaster, versus a dubious picture on our website, don’t sound like sources that deserve equal weight. Honestly, neither are absolutely conclusive – time to move on.
The ball did cross the line and the chelsea fans aren’t “murderers” chanting scumbags.
Di Santo scored (this was hard to say hahahah) and Arsenal lost
COME ON BLUES FOR TOP 4
Broadcasters are not unbiased. I trust the AFP photograph better than a graphic simulation (not £100k, just a cheap 3DS max software) by ITV. Again, broadcasters are not unbiased. Been here too long to conclude on that, haven’t we?
We can surely agree I disagree. For me, it’s a goal. Dubious one though. If it takes too much analysis and angles to confirm, Spurs should have got the benefit of doubt. Anyway, I think the ball crossed the line. I’ll move on too.
@Defao – You nailed it with your first paragraph.
@BlueChampion:
If you ask me, i would say that broadcasters are the most biased figure ever present in league football. I bet you guys heard how biased the commentators for that game, slamming chelsea every now and then..
@Ronin
You are kidding, right. Media – unbiased, lol. The whole of England wanted Spurs to win (Arry, english players, beautiful game and all that + chelsea’s image). I have literally counted 8 articles now at DM condemning atkinson. The pic taken almost parellel to the goal line (the best angle to see whether the ball crosses or not) is anytime more reliable than a video taken from behind the goal or ITV’s “unbiased” graphic simulation which stops at the first contact of the ball on Terry and not on Assou ekotto who actually pushes the ball.
And by the way this pic wasn’t posted at this site first. It was posted yesterday in the DM, but they just ignored to comment on the pic for obvious reasons.
Now we are in tricky situation. With Arsenal loosing again we have stronger chance of finishing in Top 4. On this weekend when we play Arsenal at Emirates , our boys will be more fatigued after playing against Barca midweek in big CL face-off. Second leg of semis at Camp Nou , After that QPR and Newcastle at Bridge will be tough asks . And then again twice Scousers in Cup final and away match . This whole period will be a test of character and fitness for whole squad . If we come through this and able to get Top 4 and FA cup , this season will be huge success at least for me after a pathetic performance for most part of it.
@BlueChampion: Bu using such childish graphics to prove that ball didn’t cross line and Atkinson was idiot to award us goal , actually iTV is proving themselves as Idiot TV .
I dont understand why we are still debating whether the ball crossed the line or not… May be it did may be not.. the important thing is we manged more shots on goal. more shots on target, had better possession for significant parts of the match, and also scored 4 goals other than the one we are talkin so much about… Now people might argue here that if that goal was disallowed.. we might have allowed spurs bac in da game etc etc. But why do we have to speculate on that…I dont remember anybody thinkin about what would have happened if Gerard pique’s handball would have been given in 2009 UCL SF… or for that what would have happened if Luis Garcia’s goal would have been disallowed in yet another UCL SF…..
All I am trying to say is that we should move on… see the positives.. and carry on this type of performance and fitness levels upto the end of may..
out of all the years of the RA era… this is undoubtedly the toughest one.. and the next 30 days would be an acid test in the true sense for the whole team… (more so for the “old guard”)… so lets hope we finish this season the style, gumption and determination that we have been renowned for… KTBFFH!!!!
Let me start by saying, it was a lucky night for Chelsea and it has been a long time coming. We have a goal over Barca and they don’t have an away goal.
The team played well in general, especially Drogba, he has turned it up a notch recently.
We need to turn up the heat at Camp nou now, where Barcelona will be at least apprehensive if not a bit scared of us.
GIVE DIDIER the 2 YEAR CONTRACT HE WANTS! HE IS A LIVING LEGEND, HE DESERVES IT.
hm… apologies for being a bit boring but i believe your website would look a bit better plus a little more easy to the eyes if it got more of a brown vibe to it, however that is only me. good post anyway!
Best regards.
