Good comfortable away win! This wasn’t a vintage performance but no denying that this is a great result in the circumstances. I do think it was a mistake to have started Drogba. We should have played the same playing eleven that took on Man Utd with probably, Josh McE replacing Malouda.
We started decently well. Our goal was always coming when John Terry headed it in. Lamps coolly netted a penalty earned (!) by a Kalou dive. And then Kalou set it up smartly for Lamp who still had to take it well. And boy, that was a clever run by Lamps and a finish that Torres would be proud of. Talking of Torres, he’s yet to score his debut goal but I think he was hard done by. We didn’t play in a way that would help Torres score a goal. Anelka + Torres works lot better than Drogba + Torres. And we needed a player like Josh McE who can create chances for Torres.
Carlo Ancelotti after the game:
It was a good performance and an important result. Salomon Kalou helped us a lot and played very well. Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba played well overall, they were dangerous and I think they played a good game.
We are now 9 points behind Man Utd. We have a game on hand that we should win and a game against Man Utd at Old Trafford and we should win that too. If these two things happen, we’re 3 points behind Man Utd. Don’t forget Man Utd still have to play Arsenal at Emirates. Meanwhile, we still have to play Spurs and Man City too. It’s gonna be a great finish! As I mentioned earlier, if only we had not pressed the “give me bad moment” button, we could be leading this inconsistent bunch by a dozen points!

Drogba should have passed the ball, if he can’t score from one-to-to.. Torres was ready and open.. So selfish of DD. I really wanted to see Torres scoring..
Other than that, if ref didn’t give penalty, we could have been still struggling in front of the goal. Small teams just accept penalty without any complain.
Frankie is coming to his best.
We ask Torres to score.. But, if we don’t pass to him, and give him a chance, how does he score?
Great result in a great game . we really needed that 3points and we got it.
i think the future is bright while we feel the need and desire to win all the remaining fixtures .
We need someone fast to play along torres to create space for him.
Obviously drogba is not the guy.
Best formation to suit torres is play 2 fast wingers beside him to “pull” the defenders.
So torres have more space to do his magic and more shootings.
Anyway good result . Keep going !
Lampsy did it and yet again! Ramires should have been the MoTM in our last two matches!
Talking about the title, i regret so much for having dropped points against these:
7 Nov. 2010 (A) 0:2 Liverpool (A sure win)
14 Nov. 2010 (H) 0:3 Sunderland (Simply no reason whatsoever!)
20 Nov. 2010 (A) 0:1 Birmingham City (We had all the positive figures for us except the goal)
4 Dec. 2010 (H)
http://www.chelseadaft.org/2011/03/torres-will-never-fit-in-at.html
Watch these videos. You will know why torres is still working on his first goal.
Torres shoud be the finisher, not the one creating chances.
Lampsy did it! I am happy that he wasn’t made to re-take the penalty!
Ramires should have been the MoTM in our last two matches! Carlo got the substitutions spot on, but i noticed that Malouda was more interested in scoring a goal then making one, he is wrong in doing that! May be the system didn’t help but Torres seems to have no desire or may be he missed Nico! We won the game with ease but i was selfishly praying that we gift Cech a clean sheet for his run for the Golden Glove, but sadly Bosingwa took the gift away! Kalou’s distributions were great!
Talking about the title, we have lost so many matches and many of these are totally preventable and therefore the result was simply unacceptable. Amongst others, these matches are the ones where we failed to be ourselves and where we made our own destination:
7 Nov. 2010 (A) 0:2 Liverpool (A sure win)
14 Nov. 2010 (H) 0:3 Sunderland (Simply no reason whatsoever!)
20 Nov. 2010 (A) 0:1 Birmingham City (We had all the positive figures for us except the goal)*
4 Dec. 2010 (H) 1:1 Everton (Our defence took a costly nap)
6 Feb. 2011 (H) 0:1 Liverpool (No reason again!)
* (From our official website) Ill-luck was with us that day!
Shots on target Birmingham 1 Chelsea 8
Corners Birmingham 4 Chelsea 16
Fouls Birmingham 10 Chelsea 4
So it says that we had a cursed November and it continued in to December too. But let us keep the past behind and aim to win all the remaining matches (big ones being manure, tots and citeh) and pray that manure and arsenal lose at least two matches!
But if at all the title is going to be manure’s or arsenal’s i would for the first time in my life want it to come to the northern London! My hatred towards manure is so much that it affiliates me to arsenal, simply unthinkable!
Congratulations to Martin Samuel for being recognised as the Sports Writer of the Year at Sports Journalists’ Association awards!
I love his articles, and i always find that he had something good to say about Chelsea!
(Here’s what I would have written had I received BC’s chat message!)
Three months ago this would have been a draw. At best.
Three months ago Terry would have headed over the bar. Three months ago Kalou wouldn’t have gotten the penalty decision. Three months ago Lampard wouldn’t have been on the pitch.
Three months ago, with the “bad moment” in full bloom, there’s no way Chelsea would have won this game. Playing poorly, playing on the road, playing on a bad pitch on a Monday night? Chelsea would have staggered to a disappointing result.
But this is a new day. Invigorated by the addition of one of the best fullbacks in the world and one of the best strikers in the world; invigorated by a newly healthy Zhirkov; invigorated by a manager who can suddenly rotate his squad and invigorated by a win over Manchester United, the Chelsea team of March scored three goals while playing far below their best.
True, Blackpool was missing their most talented player, Charlie Adam. But then again, £50 million man Fernando Torres might as well have been missing too. Once again he went scoreless. Perhaps the murmurs are starting about him being a dud. But Carlo Ancelotti isn’t having any of it. Typically, he stood by his player:
“I am happy as he is working hard, supporting the team defensively and he has very good behaviour on the pitch.’
Nor is Ancelotti having anything to do with title talk. Chelsea trail by 9 points and have a game in hand, plus a second head-to-head at Old Trafford. But clearly Carlo thinks this squad performs better when less is expected of them. He’d rather keep expectations low in the league. (Doing so probably serves him better too.)
“Now we have nine points and another game (in hand) against Birmingham but it is too far to think we can come back in to fight for the title. To take it game by game is easier for us.”
Who played well? I suppose Kalou, because the game changed when he came on for a wasteful and sluggish Drogba. As has become his wont, Kalou created with his pace and touch even while squandering his own scoring opportunities. But it was his run that drew a penalty,. And it was his beautiful pass which slipped Frank Lampard into position to score his fourth goal in as many matches.
It’s hard to find heroes any where else, though. Blackpool took over the match for long stretches. Cech almost let a goal in when he reacted poorly to a speculative Jason Puncheon shot in the 33rd minute. Zhirkov, so dangerous against ManU, was back to his inconsistent self. Even David Luiz had some shaky moments.
And yet Chelsea walked away with a comfortable win. Good teams win when playing poorly. Three months ago, Chelsea wasn’t a good team.
But things are different now. Perhaps more than any other, this win sends the message that the “bad moment” is over. It’s been a long time since Chelsea won a match this comfortably while playing this poorly. It’s a good sign.
I am sure Chelsea won’t buy Kaka but if something goes awfully wrong in the board and decides to buy him, they must first look at this:
http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/2011/03/premiership/chelsea/3-reasons-chelsea-should-not-buy-kaka?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+TransferTavern+(The+Transfer+Tavern+Home+Page)
Got to do with this dummy post today I guess. I’ll try to post something while I’m waiting to watch the Barca vs Arsenal match tonight!
At this point we are 9 points behind but I certainly wouldn’t call any game a “we should win” one, as desperate teams can beat anyone on the day….so every game can be a potential banana skin to trip on…yes I agree we should be leading by so much that we shouldn’t be in this situation…carlo says the players had no confidence in the “bad moment” but it lasted for 4 frigin months….we are talking about some of the best international players in the world playing for a long period without confidence…personally I think the reasons would be varied and obviously more than one so I hope the club has a detailed review of what happened so we can learn…but then I already think the buck lies with carlo as well for some of those reasons…all we can do is take it one step at a time and hope the others implode…plus we have some luck…and in games like this dominate a bit more possession wise so we can build the goal difference which might be important at the end!
Karma, bro, u like Martin Samuel? You think he has something good to say about Chelsea? Really? Dude the Daily Fail never have anything good to say about us.
Wxwax, lol,3 months ago Charlie Adam and DJ Campbell would have played. lol. I think it affected Blackpool’s game. They’ll give u a chance to score that’s not in doubt. However they tend to overwhelm teams with their sheer passion and desire, more than anything else.
I am glad Carlo is gradually alleviating the pressure on the team saying all the right things , keeping it game by game and all that. Guys, i dont think the season is over yet, some of the lower teams are getting into some form. West Ham should be watched closely they could give people some bloody noses especially at their home ground. I was hoping our game against Birmingham would have come before Citeh. So then it mean Citeh becomes our game in hand. Can we beat them at the Bridge? Hmm , not easy to say ,but what i can say is this , if we beat them, then we r over this “bad moment” as Carlo puts it.
Why r the lads leaving Fernando out to dry, What Malouda did last night was uncalled for. He was telling everyone, by the way he played, that he had to be in the team and thus when he gets the ball he was going to show that. He was just shooting at impossible angles. That was the same attitude that had most of Blues fans upset with Sturridge, cos he wouldn’t pass to team mates in better positions. Why wouldn’t he pass to Fernando? Carlo needs to speak to the lads to help Nando. They will have to help him settle in. Yes, last night was not his best performance , but i believe a single goal would help him a great deal. All the January strikers have scored bar Andy Carrol and Nando, though to be fair, Carrol hasn’t played much. Ijust Fernando peaks at the right time, just as Lamps seems to be hitting some form.
Wait what?
>Lamps coolly netted a penalty earned (!) by a Kalou dive.
Dive? Really?
Also, cant we find a better right back? I mean Jose Bosingwa is dire. I dare say Billy Cliford in the youth team can do a better job than this guy. He looks scared on the ball and is our weakest link on the pitch. He can’t cross the ball , rushes forward and most times runs the ball out for a goal kick or cuts inside, gets muscled off the ball or plays a square or back pass. He played with the reserves against Loserpool some months back and was attrocious , all the young lads were scratching their heads. He cannot defend to save his life. He doesn’t offer much going forward. Somebody tell me , how many assists has Bosingwa given this season? Anyone wondered why collapsed with Bosingwa in the team under Scolari? and then Carlo? The lad can’t defend. This is not a dig at him but he has been consistently poor this term.He looks scared to play football. The same can be said for Ash too but i must admit at least Ash can defend even if his crossing has been poor this term.
Malouda’s maladies
Malouda isn’t a pacy winger or a true midfielder.
He isn’t truly skillful with the ball ,at dribbling past defenders or that musclebound enough to charge at them either.
He can’t cross or thread passes .
And for a guy to change hairstyles so often seems to me a lack of confidence but shows much fickleness.
When the play fizzles out everytime he gets the ball …it don’t matter what the damn formation you play…. nothing gonna work.
He has been tolerated up to now because of he’s Drog’s buddy…. maybe Nico’s too…
I wish he goes……. soon ….
MatBlue,
Yeah, Daily Fail is a biased and red-worshiping paper, but i always found that Martin speaks some sense. And his Chelsea articles are nice. He may be the only good thing about daily mail!
Regarding Chelsea i think we can make some money out of Malouda and Bosingwa, the pair whose performance is spiraling down!
And this one from Ian Holloway is funny but brave:
“In games like this of this magnitude when David’s swinging his sling at Goliath you need him to hit him straight in the forehead and unfortunately we missed with that one, but we didn’t stop swinging did we? They [Chelsea] can tear you inside out if you give them space in midfield, and they did that with the two goals. As Lamps said, they weren’t on their game but they beat us didn’t they? We’ll put our sling back in the bag, buy another bag of rocks and get ready for our next challenge.”
May his team bag as many deadly stones as they can on on 22nd May 2011 ;)
BC,
Kalou didn’t dive. Watch the highlights. The opponent kick’s Kalou’ knee and the latter loses his balance.
Carlo really needs to talk the players to help Nando, most of the time during the last match, Malouda and Lampard ignored him when he was in a good position to score. The earlier the better they start doing this to help the whole team, the whole of Chelsea will come to regret buying him if he becomes another Shevchenko. I hope not. Lampard could have given him the 3rd goal because he was unmarked though the ball went in.
Always Blue!!
Nani out for a month.
I hate to cheer when a player is injured. But Nani is a fool. A drama queen. A pretender. A would-be Ronaldo.
I absolutely loathe his antics on the field. So I’m sorry he’s hurt. But I’m glad he’s not playing.
I’m also glad he’s slamming his own club for not complaining about Carragher’s tackle. Manchester United refused to comment to any media after the Liverpool loss.
The pressure is starting to show!
Well to start with Torres’ work rate is appalling,he shows no passion, no desire in his eyes and his runs are amateurish and still Carlo picks him for the team. Some of the other players might think “if I played like that I wouldn’t be on the team sheet”. These kind of feelings and contemplations are bound affect the other players, and it can totally destroy the team spirit if nothing is done about it.
I’m totally comprehending that Torres needs time to settle, BUT he needs to get his finger out his butt and start working hard. Goals doesn’t just come served on a silver plate. Look at Suarez, he worked harder in one game (vs Manure) than Torres had done in the previous 25 matches for Liverpool.
And think about it guys, when was the last time you can remember Torres being in top form. Try 18 month ago, that’s a hell of a long time ago. He didn’t perform for Spain either at the World Cup.
So Torres, have a talk with Luiz and ask what he has done to become close to a cult hero in record time. He will tell Torres to work work work and then work a little bit more. That will endear Torres to fans and fellow team mates.
I believe in Torres and I’m sure he will start scoring soon. So Torres don’t prove us all wrong, don’t become a new Shevchenko. Become Chelsea’s van Nistelrooy, or van Basten, a true Blue goal machine
Torres?
I’ll wager Ancelotti didn’t want him. His weaknesses are well known. He’s not very active, he doesn’t cover back with enthusiasm, he’s injured a lot and as Dana says, he’s been out of form since before the World Cup.
But when he’s on form, he’s a devastating scorer who can create his own chances. At 26 he should have 4-5 productive years.
Carlo’s a company man. When Roman wants a player and pays 50 million for him, you can be assured Carlo will play him.
Personally, I didn’t really want Torres. But I think he will eventually score hugely important goals for Chelsea. However, I wouldn’t really expect much from him until next season, when he’s had a full summer to rest.
If I were a betting man I’d wager that Barcelona will win the CL this season. I don’t think an English club can beat them.
If Chelsea don’t make the final, I’d really enjoy Madrid winning it with Mourinho exacting revenge on Barca along the way.
Just realised that I was on a mad tweeting spree! 36 tweets during the Barca vs Arsenal match! Yup, 36 tweets in 90 minutes! And I loved it!
Barca are beatable. Arsenal deserved to go out. With 24% possession and ZERO shots on target and ZERO shots off target, what else would be a fair result? Even in the first leg, Arsenal were outplayed and they scored two goals against the run of play. I hate both Barca and Arsenal but I hate nothing as much as Arsenal. Great night!
I don’t know, Barca are pretty awesome. We’d do better than the Gunners, but we’d still lose against them over two legs. Not trying to be a neg-head here, just realistic.
Though not related to this post, worth to see our forgetten man Juliano Belletti is in twitter:
http://twitter.com/#!/julianobelletti
He sometimes tweets and cheers for Chelsea. I don’t know why current Chelsea players don’t tweet. Maybe they want to win the battle in field, not in off-field.
Chelsung,
It had escaped me that Belletti now plays in Brazil for Fluminense. I hope he’s doing well.
If Chelsea players don’t tweet, I bet a nickel it’s because the club has asked them not to. Too much potential for trouble!
KarmaCW,
There are other games that I think Chelsea should have won.
Spurs 1-1 Chelsea (Drogba missed last minute penalty)
Chelsea 3-3 Aston Villa (last minute equalising goal from Villa)
I thought Arsenal played poorly.
Their biggest sin, I thought, was conceding possession too easily. Arsenal are supposed to be a possession club. But most times when they got the ball they hurried their passes and succumbed to Barca’s high press. Diaby’s first touch is awful, which didn’t help. But all of them felt hurried and unnecessarily rushed passes that were easily intercepted, thus giving Barca another spell of possession.
The van Persie second yellow/red was a poor decision by the ref. But then again, van Persie’s first yellow was a foolish one.
I fancy Barca to win the CL because it feels like their entire roster of very talented players is peaking at the same time. In other years injuries, age and bad form affect a squad’s progress. Barca have some weakness in their back line. But otherwise they’re hammering away in fine fettle and I don’t see any other team playing at the same level. Bayern? Manchester United? Chelsea? Inter? Real Madrid? None are playing as consistently well.
The only real catch is that the Cl is a contest by elimination. And in any elimination tournament, like the FA Cup, an inferior team can get hot or lucky and upset the better team. That’s what makes them so exciting!
Arsenal played very poorly , IMHO, they wanted to do something that they are not really good at, ie parking the bus. Starting rosicky ahead of arshavin is a no brainer and Wenger is clueless the entire game,he did not make any subs or change the way watching they are getting humiliated. To top it all , see this post match reaction from pep guardiola, lol …ha ha ha rubbing salt on the wound or lets say teaching a lesson to ‘the professor’…
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2914/champions-league/2011/03/09/2385858/barcelonas-pep-guardiola-the-only-way-arsenal-can-grow-is-to
Now this barca looks so unbeatable and it all looks just like the season that we were robbed…
Chelsung,
Nice one bro, i am following him now!
BlueLion,
Spot on, we have lost so many sure-win matches! It makes me more sad!
In Nepali, ‘nani’ means a baby, i am sure that manure actor knows it too because he was crying like my 2 year old daughter!
The best part of Arsenal is having ZERO shot on goal and yet they got 1 goal ! lol
The lack of height is Barca’s Achilles heel, if you ask me.
They don’t typically put the ball in the air on crosses, corners or free kicks because they’re so short. So in a sense they’re playing with one hand tied behind their back. They’re missing an important dimension to their attack.
On the other hand they score so many goals I guess they feel their way makes the sacrifice worth it.
One thing we haven’t discussed is that Chelsea are now 3 points ahead of Spurs.
For a while now the real battle has been the fourth Champions League place. And it’s beginning to look like Chelsea might have a firm grip on it, with designs on Man City’s third.
Helping the cause is this weekend’s EPL games.
Spurs play Wednesday then Saturday. That’s a short turnaround. And so far their history has been to slump in the league after playing well in the CL. They’ve struggled mentally and emotionally to focus on the Premier League after the high of playing Champions League. Saturday is a London derby home to West Ham, who have a draw and two wins in their last three games.
Here’s hoping Spurs rock the Lane on Wednesday, enjoy a famous victory over Milan and are once again hungover emotionally for their League game.
Yeah we all might be happy that the Arse are out but how often do Barcelona get referees decisions going their way …now I’m not saying that arse would have won but losing a player definitely means you will lose to them…..lets go back to when we should have had 4 penalties against them and drogs went off his brain for good reason…shades of manure who get more than their fair share of lucky decisions or a thousand minutes of extra time in many games..so they can get last minute escapes…as for securing 4th spot lest take it one step at a time as consistency has not been our strong point
nyc one:)
here’s my views on liverpool torres transfer saga
http://thepointlessblog.wordpress.com/2011/02/02/fernando-torres-from-a-red-n-white-to-a-red-to-a-bluethe-transfer-saga/
So now, Pep Guardiola is questioning the strength of the Premier League. I always had the impression the Spanish players had this “mightier than thou” attitude abt them, but this is ridiculous. So u beat L’Arse in a tight game even though L’Arse had no shot on target and use that to question the strength of the premier league? Wow. The arrogance is astounding. I dare say if Barcelona had been playing in the premier league, i dont think they would ever win the damn thing. They should ask L’Arse. In England the game is not played like girls. You win by winning the battles on the pitch not by being a twinkle-toe. I am disappointed in Guardiola. He has lost some respect in my eyes. I thought he had humility. i was wrong.
Matblue
your attitude typifies the english one who think they have the best league in the world, which is a complete joke, most of the top players in all the top teams here are foregin, infact i dont rate any english player as truly world class, chelsea rely on drogba, anelka man united to berbatov, nani Arsenal on persie fabregas Liverpool on Mereiless reina kuyt. None of them are english…the greatest legend of our era ROOney is not even in double figures this season, Defoe has 2, Crouch maybe 2-3, these are international players.
everyone can see england what they truly are when they compete in tournaments, dont even qualify for Euros, have eggs on their faces and boots up their @#$% every world cup, going into each they claim to be top contenders…bah what a joke, thie only trophy was way back in 66 at home, thats it, not even a WC final since then, i seriously think they need to get off their high horses and see where they truly stand…
Josh in for Malouda !!!!
joeblue,
Perhaps ur point is valid, but u r missing the core of what i was putting across. The premier league isn’t made up of english players alone. so i honestly don’t understand where ur taking this discussion. I never claimed the premier league was the best, but now that u mention it i claim now that perhaps it is the most competitive, taking into account the teams playing week in week out. I dont rate the English in FIFA tournaments , partly cos we know their own media will like them to fail and partly cos their players only play for their clubs and not their country.
The point i was making however was what Guardiola said after the match with regards to the premier league . Barca is the “golden child” of UEFA. And for your information, there are a lot Africans playing in the french league, a lot of brazilians playing in the Portuguese league. Look at Shakhtar , how many Ukranians do they have in their team? The UEFA coefficent will perhaps tell us which league is the strongest, but hey u r entitled to ur opinion bro.
I’m not sure what one thing has to do with the other.
The Premier League is the strongest league in terms of depth of competition. In the last five years there have been more English teams in the Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals etc. than from any other league.
So the overall strength of the Premier League is indisputable.
Spain probably has the two most talented teams this season. That’s for the same reason the English teams are strong: money. Barcelona and Madrid get a disproportionate share of Spain’s TV revenue, they fill massive stadiums and they have huge amounts of money to spend on players. (And you’ll note that Madrid has a very strong foreign contingent on their roster.)
None of that, however, has anything to do with either country’s national teams.
Were talking leagues, not national teams. I’m not sure that the two have anything to do with each other.
Was wondering what players Chelsea will sell this offseason. Curious of everyone’s opinion (we need something to talk about as Chelsea’s next game isn’t until next Wednesday).
Here’s who I think are gone and who may/may not leave. Bear in mind this is complete speculation by me and isn’t meant to denigrate any of these great players.
Gone:
- Drogba. It’s a shame, as I would like to see him go out a hero on his own terms. But he’s 33, hasn’t had a great season and his body language seems to suggest he’s unhappy. Plus, with Torres coming in, he’s probably considered the past, rather than the future. I bet he goes back to France and Chelsea pick up a modest fee in return.
- Bosingwa. I think he just signed a new contract but I read that might be manuevering by Chelsea to extract a greater transfer fee. He’s one of the few players in their 20s Chelsea can afford to sell. Although great going forward, he’s a liability in defense. Ivanovic will take over full time at right back moving forward.
Maybe Gone:
- Ferrera: I could see Chelsea selling him to make room for younger players.
- Kalou: He’s apparently unhappy with his amount of playing time. I think he’ll stay though, as he’s a valuable squad member, scores a healthy amount of goals and has plenty of pace.
- Sturridge: Chelsea will want him back, for certain. But what if he demands a transfer, given all his playing time at Bolton?
- Malouda: Like Drogs, he looks out of sorts this season. In addition, he’ll be 31 in May. Apparently he’s a great friend of Drogba’s. If Didier leaves, might he want out too? I think he’ll ultimately stay, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he leaves.
You are wrong ! The best is having ‘ZERO SHOT’ and yet they got 1 goal… ha ha ha ha
Most transfer rumors are rubbish.
But I like this one. Drogba+18 million for Pato.
I think Chelsea needs to buy some wingers … about 2 super wingers in the Arjen Robben mold.
Then we can play 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or whatever we want to … and change formations in-game like we used to …instead of the the numbing same ol’ thing repeated all game through… which was the reason for our super-duper collapse this season…..
I would not want Drogs to leave …. he is a leader and a talisman and is a part of team identity. Super sub he’ll be.
Also Ancelotti may need to be more flexible…….
Arsenal made Champions League history! ;)
Part exchange of drogs + cash for kaka….mmm…..I don’t know if kaka is worth the money as I suspect his best years are behind him…maybe the money would be better spent on some world class youngsters who could virtually be first team players now…on drogs I suspect his best years are behind him as well as this year he has been very dispppointing…so maybe using him as bait would be a good move but for a youngster…yes we definietly need a winger..a true winger and a ball playing midfield with also an eye for goal..in the modric mould …plus a few other reinforcements as manure will re-build ..sky blue manure continue to build as well and if we are to regain the league will certainly need to build as the use by date has expired with some of our stars
I would like to keep drogba if he can lower his ego and play as sub by next season.
And i hope we are not getting kaka with more than 25m. He is 28 now and reaching 29 soon.
No point spending so much on him.
Pastore , Sanchez , get atleast one of them if possible.
I have said we need a schemer time and time again. That is perhaps our only problem. We don’t need to reassemble a whole new team next summer. We’ve got Brana and David Luiz as a long term partnership in defence. Cech in post,Torres and Sturridge and Kalou in attack. What we haven’t got is a ball playing midfield man. Our midfielders are all similar, powerhouses. We are not getting Modric anytime soon. I have said it hear before that the kind of schemer we need is SHINJI KAGAWA of Dortmund. He is injured now and isn’t playing at the minute . He wont cost us as much as Modric. The first time i saw him he reminded me of Deco in his prime yet much more hardworking than Deco and scores goals too. Guys check him out if u can.
Hey, Karma , I know it’s great being a fan of Chelsea and BC but u know I read http://www.arseblog.com for fun once in a while too. Totally hilarious…. is the amount of moaning and groaning that goes on by the main writer… totally hilarious .
Compared to them it seems that Chelsea and this blog are rocking…..!
Well , after ManUre smack the arse out of the FA Cup come weekend … their confidence will be so shattered that there will be a good chance of them collapsing and won’t in anyway be title challengers anymore…. more than that ManUre will have to play extra games… more than Chels and the wear and tear from those games and the labours of competing in the CL may show too….. therefore Chelsea may have a good shout at retaining the title.
But then again 2nd in league plus the CL crown is OK for me too……
I would look at getting a newby for malouda past his prime and maybe more motivated with his hairstyle than footy and one who has speed and the skills…for quick counters…
kalou for me does not cut it..hot and cold..more than often has perfected the art of missing an open goal
or bosingwa who is supsect in defense and not always consistent in attack…who still hasn’t perfected the art of crossing consistently
definetly need a schemer who has an eye for goal but also the physical attrubutes to survive in the premier league
would pick up another centre back as terry has the back problem which could go at any time while it seems that alex too might not always be totally dependable physically…ivano is back up for them as well as right full back…which then gives us the option to push lewey into midfield at times
lets go for young, hungry, skillful talent who haven’t won anything as yet at a senior level..keep some of the oldies for balance
The rumor is for Pato, not Kaka.
I agree, Kaka is too old and injury-prone.
I’m with you. I think this is the number one priority.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a raid for Charlie Adam. Non-stop running, tackling and lung-busting leadership. Plus, his crosses and corner-kicks are brilliant. He fits with the “power & pace” philosophy the team has had since the Mourinho years. I think WXWAX had a column a few months back raising some concerns over bringing in too many smallish players that can be pushed off the ball. Not a worry with Adam. Plus, he’s only 25-26, so there’s plenty of good years left in him.
Why is Maluda being selfish?
