See, I’m running out of long faced Carlo Ancelotti images. Putting up a picture of a worried Ancelotti is my way of saying ‘he’s the man, catch him alive’. When you’re aiming at 4th place, you’ll get there or thereabouts such as 5th. And that’s worrying now.
Carlo said that we should try to reach the fourth place and a performance and a result like today is just a follow up from there. If Chelsea end up at 4th or 5th, I would not admire Carlo’s foresight or vision for having ‘predicted’ Chelsea’s position in February. Instead, I’d ask questions of him on why did he let that happen.
I just can’t explain what happened this season. We have a great squad – yes, great squad if you know how to use your resources. We have loads of experience and a lots of exciting young talent too. Now we’ve made a couple of fantastic signings too. And, we have a double champions league winner as our manager. You have an owner who still invests big in the club. What.is.the.issue?
Yes, the players are the ones that play on the pitch. It’s not the manager. So, if players take the blame for poor performances this season, who takes the credit for a historic double last season? When Chelsea won the double last season, for the first time in the 105 year old history, I gave most of the credit to Carlo. He did it. Chelsea scored a record number of goals – I give that credit to Carlo. I didn’t say that the players are the ones who played on the pitch. If players play as they should, you won’t have the managerial roles in football.
Managers are highly paid because they have a massive job to do. When Drogba plays like Drogba, Lampard plays like Lampard, Essien plays like Essien and so on, you may not quite need a manager. But the thing is, they always don’t play like they’re supposed to. In those circumstances, I refuse to put the blame on them and I’d ask questions of the manager. Torres is responsible for his performance. Malouda for his. Anelka for his. There’s only one man responsible for the team performance. There’s no other way to look at it. If you do, you’re grossly undermining the manager’s role.
We can talk at lengths about what went wrong today. The team selection, the tactics, the substitutions etc. I’m growing a little of tired of going to the details. For me, everything seems to boil down to one thing – Carlo is unable to get the right kind of performance from his team and consequently the results. We can look for a thousand excuses but they just don’t cut it. Players not playing well is an issue for one or two or three matches. If it goes for 4-5 months, I’d shift it from players to manager.
So what’s my point? It’s not about getting Carlo sacked or something. I’ve said it many times before – I want Carlo to continue as Chelsea manager for many seasons. But that’s not going to blind me. Carlo has the pedigree, ability and experience but he’s doing a bad job at the moment. That’s all I want to say. It’s not about injuries. It’s not about squad depth. It’s not about anything else. It’s about how well Carlo has marshalled his resources and how well he’s got the best of what he’s had.
As I mentioned in BC Shout, we don’t need a Carlo Ancelotti to get this Chelsea team a fourth place. This team, even without a manager would do decently well. The value of a manager for a team like Chelsea is in getting them to win the title or give a very good challenge for the title. I hope he has not jinxed us with the talk about fourth place. We are now in fifth place proper. No games on hand. No being tied on points. We are no.5 in the league and it doesn’t look very promising. I only hope that this form and mentality doesn’t get transferred to our champions league campaign.
Here’s the list of upcoming premier league games. Apart from the W teams, we can’t be confident of any results.

The worst case scenario is frightening. On the contrary, if we can rake in 10 wins out of these 12 matches, which has been done before by this very Chelsea squad, anything can happen. But I don’t think we are up for the fight. That’s very sad to see. I don’t think we want it so badly. We are settling for mediocrity in the name of pragmatism. Cut the euphemism there. There’s no pragamtism. There’s just mediocrity. Consistent mediocrity.
I’ve used the word ‘Carlo’ a dozen times in this post. That tells what I feel about the whole situation. In situations like this, the manager needs to stand up and take the blame for the past and the responsibility for the future. I’m not jumping into conclusions on our manager that won us the double. All I’m saying is, teams like Chelsea work on a minimum guarantee every season. The team not delivering the objective is one thing but if it can’t deliver the minimum guarantee, the spotlight will be on the manager. Don’t blame me for that.
I will salute Carlo Ancelotti if he could somehow conjure up to a third place finish this season. I’ve never had to long for a third place finish but here I am. Please.

shame on us….shame on carlo….shoutout to david luiz for having a great game…..at least we signed right on hime…. KTBFFH!
I am surprised with this article … I ask you a question BC, have you ever played soccer ? I mean have you ever played for a team with a manager? managers make Drogbas, managers make Lampards , managers make Torreses …players are important too, but with a bad tactic, Drogbas becom nothing …
I give you a recent example, Daniel Sturrudge, look what he is doing in Bolton? how come we could not get the best out of him … Manager should be able to get the best out of his players ….
The olny reason last season we were successful because other teams were sucks …
Manchester did not play well, Arsenal had problem in defence, City and tottenham were improving … Chelsea was the only one with good and consistent squad … Let’s not forget that if Ronney did not get injured against Bayern, we would not win EPL either last season ….
Carlo got to deadlock … he has no clue how to save Chelsea …
I have never liked Carlo … I never beleived in him … look at his games at Milan … Milan did not win by his tactics.. they always won with the magic of Kaka, and you can see what happened to them after Kaka …
I defenitely want him out at the end of season ….
Overall i was impressed by our performance, we are just missing the finishing touch and i’m very sure we will get that too in coming games. David Luiz was amazing, he will be sorely missed in Champions League. I didnt like Anleka playing so deep, that was the only wrong tactic by Carlo. This season we have lost too much ground, but then again we are going through some major transformations player wise (world cup tiredness, exits, ins, loans) and management wise (wilikins departure, gourlay stepping up, elmenalo promotion, arnesen departure). Targeting a top four finish should be our aim now and definitely having a run for FA Cup and CL. I have too much faith in this club and i’m sure we will shine next season. Peace!!!
Carlo Ancelotti is not a good manager. He was just lucky to manage the best team in the world in Milan during 2002-2007. In every position in that team there was a world class player, probably the best in that position at the time: Dida, Maldini, Seedorf, Pirlo, Kaka, Gattuso, Shevchenko. Even with that team he somehow managed to win ONLY one league title in 8 years – certainly a great underachievement. Moreover, during 1999 – 2001 he had one of the best teams in the world in Juventus with Zidane and Del Piero at their primes, and guess what, he won nothing with that squad. He is the same man who let Zola leave Parma for Chelsea.
Last year Chelsea won the league title because Manchester United was in transition and even then we won only with 1 point difference, which may not even be if the luck wasn’t on our side. There is no need to talk about how Mourinho outsmarted Ancelotti in Europe. Carlo doesn’t even see what we normal fans see, he cannot change formations and bring in right players during matches, he is very slow to react to the negative outcome, he is tactically inept. This year we will win nothing. Naturally when there are managers like Ferguson, Mourinho and Guardiola around Carlo with the current Chelsea squad will not win the Champions League in the foreseable future. The only question is how long Abramovich will tolerate Ancelotti.
the arsenalic smile of drogba is spot on
Like many millions of football fans out there, I have not played football. I have not played for a team with a manager. I don’t understand the relevance of this question at all. What’s your point and how does this question relate to that point?
It’s hard to play almost an entire season without a good striker.
So far, that’s what Chelsea have done.
Like many of you, I wish Sturridge had been given a chance once he starting exploding with goals. I think he would have converted on one or two of Torres’ chances today, most likely the brilliant pass from Luiz. But Sturridge couldn’t have saved the season.
Drogba, Anelka, not evenTorres have brought the goods. This, on top of the plethora of other issues surrounding this squad.
It’s just too much to overcome.
What is this good striker we’re talking about? We had Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge (now replaced by Torres) – three strikers to choose for a single striker formation. This is a luxury for most teams. This better than what Arsenal had, Man Utd had, Man City had and Spurs had. Arsenal were missing van Persie more than we missed Drogba. They have a weaker midfield than us – on paper. They have shite for keeper while we have Petr Cech. They lack leadership while we have JT.
Why are we mincing words here? What was too much to overcome?
I still feel that Roman made the mistake by sacking Ray! I know media makes us appear bad as we keep on sacking managers, but i think we will again have to sack the current manager. He is cool and he is calm and he is frank, but these qualities don’t fetch trophies. Carlo had made many mistakes and it is all down to him for making Chelsea the way we are and clinging on to the 4th spot: a bad dream!
Carlo’s mistakes highlighted when he brought Torres against the defenders who have been playing with Torres for years, then as if that was not enough, he took Torres off making the Spaniard digest the barbarism of the loserfool fans. I think Carlo must go back to Italia!
Now i want Hiddink back along with Zola and Ray and Clarke! I have heard that Ray was at yesterday’s match for a local radio. I wonder what must have been his commentary like!
Yesterday we played well, we started better but we lacked the quality in our shots. Almost all the shots that were on target were so soft or toothless, only those wayward shots were full of power, what an irony! And then the arsehole referee didn’t do justice. He was so excited in showing Ivanovic the yellow while he was so apologetic in cautioning Gera. I hate English referees and i hate the old hog graham poll, mike arsehole riley, mike arsehole dean, phil arsehole dowd and the likes. These are all reds-loving cunts and not that only, they all hate us! Remember this same whore made Lampsy took the penalty three times against WHU. But we are proud in victory and elegant in defeat because we don’t get our results from the dirty hands of the officials.
I am not complaining because we lost our match, but these tuppence bastards decide our play. If Luiz’s fly-feather touch on Dempsey is a penalty then what is Hangeland’s whole body push down on Malouda? I wonder when will English FA be able to find and field fair and dignified referees, i won’t be surprised if it doesn’t happen in this century!
English FA sucks!
Tonight i want Tottenham to beat AC Milan, because i want tots to go as far as the semis into the Champions League because we need them to be busy to get ourself the 4th berth! So much from the think-talk mouth of Carlo, we will struggle to be what Chelsea really is! I think he forgot this adage: “AIM FOR THE STARS, YOU MAY NOT REACH THEM, BUT YOU WILL OBVIOUSLY LAND ABOVE THOSE WHO AIM FOR THE CHIMNEYS”.
Carlo, next time you open your mouth, make sure that you processed your words several times through your mind. If the need be let Lampsy and Terry do the talking to the media, and if you can’t let that privilege go, at least get their counselling. Your frank disposition is not doing any good to Chelsea.
What a goal and a match would this have been if Torres had finished the Luiz cross at the end of the first half. Both of our new recruits would have had SUCH a boost. Ah damn.
Cricket, anybody ?
I guess that many ppl don’t remember that Carlo didn’t win that many Scudettos , only 1 methinks.
Although he does cut a dour figure lately,he is rather impressive under pressure… but he has got to understand this ain’t AC . So what;s important is what Roman thinks….and does next year…
Whatever comes about this year except for missing out from a CL place is probably acceptable….
So I think Roman plans to :
1. Stick with Carlo for at least another season but keep Hiddink waiting in the wings
2. Clear out non-performers but keep on players like Lamps and Drogs who are Club talismen and can be impact subs like Giggs and Scholes
3. Get those “TWO VERY IMPORTANT WINGERS ”
4. Clear out guys like Zirkhov, retire Paulo
5. Start using the not-so-young ones at least for the Carling and FA campaigns and give JT and A Cole some rest ( man they look worn out to me )
6. Get some good Italian – English translator / assistant coaches for Carlo
Afterthought :
I would rather have Josh Mc Eachran play a lot in midfield next year than get very expensive un-aclimmatised unfit mostly-injured, slower and slower playing Kaka who doesnt wanna be in Spain or anywhere but Italy cos of his wife.
OK, so we have ManU and ManCity games ahead. Looks like another 3-6 points lost and forget about 4th place :-((
On the scoreboard…it ended a draw…which well could have ben a loss..as for team performance it was more of the same..no width and no real idea how to break down teams that park the bus…as for the opposition we don’t have any surprises for them in anything we do..lets take corners…always the same and we can go on and on…I sort of feel the players have stopped responding to Carlo long ago and it won’t change unless we get in someone who will motivate them…if a novice, someone who didn’t know the teams was asked after the first half which team won the double last year..they could well have chosen Fulham!
Remember the message posted by some bloke at Cobham about Roman and Carlo Out. Well, Roman responded, £70million worth of response, what is Carlo’s response – 4th place. With this team? That is scandalous. Whaaat. This guy is infectious and you can see it on the pitch, this bad apple is spoiling the whole bunch. How can the leader of the team come out and say what he wants from his team is the least, is this guy insane or on someone’s payroll to sabotage the team? I was all about how Roman has not equipped him enough to go to battle. Well, he wanted Luiz, he got Luiz and more and what does he do? Comes up spewing 4th place. I AM NOT MINCING WORDS, CARLO SHOULD GO (and I’m typing this with so much emphasis it will probably leave a dent on my board). Forget last season, it was just meant to happen or how do you explain that the whole league underperformed and we still did not win until the last day. Case of one eyed man being king in the land of the blind. Need further proof, check our exit against opposition from outside England and for the first time in a long time, I think no English team featured in Champion’s League semis. So pls spare me the sentiments on last season. In fact I think sacking Carlo and leaving W
All I was hearing is we are yet to play Manure, we are yet to play Manure, we are yet to play Manure. Can anyone out there actually tell me they believe we will defeat Manure home and away with this attitude and mentality? Anyone?
Guys. Let’s just all calm down and don’t get hysterical here. Maysam, you made your point already, 20 times, that’s enough, I think. We already know that this season we will only get crap. Would you give Carlo and players some time and some piece of mind? You saw they were trying hard, even maybe too hard, to get the result. So it didn’t work, so what? Let’s new players get settled, new tactics work out. They will get there for sure, just give them some support for fucks sake.
I thought our back 5 were very good today, and Luis was just amazing. Ramirez was great too. Even Torres wasn’t bad, he just needs some time. We have something to cheer about!
erm………im sorry but who developed kaka into the player that is kaka???
CARLO ANCELOTTI!!!!!!!!!
maysam………..im sorry but he got sheva rui costa seedorf nesta gattuso kaka ambrosini to all play together………..so he just needs time to get the team settled in……look pal there have been injuries …….do u know how long it will take for a player to rturn to the very best?..drog’s is getting better each day, so is lamps……….top four finish this year is pretty good for a team riddled with injuries…….
and ancelotti’s a world class coach……..
p.s. have you ever played soccer?????????……..if u have then u prolly wudnt question ancelotti…….
Hi BC good job ur post came early this time, could someone tell Carlo that is midfield is too slow to initiate attacks,I thought he realised this last season when he said chelseafc was to slow to initiate attacks..y is he not telling the players to initiate an attack faster this season he thinks securing a champions league place will be easy with spurs and mancity…I think the problem with cfc is the manager cos he is not tell the players to sit up if u know what I mean yeah
You’re exactly right. The team doesn’t play with the same passion that they have in the past. It got lost somewhere along the way. Carlo’s job is to get that back, and he’s not doing it. These are world class players, and everything is there, they just need that fire in their eyes. Who knows, maybe a fire under their asses will restore that.
Get lost carlo !
You are nothing without a good assistant !
Swing your axe please roman?
CFC shld place our payers on half wages ontill there is an improvement..I dont see y lampaerd shld be paid £150,000 and he plays like a £45,000 a week player, same as essien, mikel, malouda, terry made a stupid error last nite when he missed a header outside the box towards the last minute….Ramires,Ivanovich, luiz,A Cole, anelka,P cech are putting in their utmost best but what is happening to rest of the team guys Pls,Kalou is too slow and y is he not working on his goals scoring..I think CFC hv lost focus cos of carlos comments to the press that 4th place is what we are aiming for……..hmmmmmmmmmm
Guys, i think last night’s performance was an improved one all be it we could have lost. I thought Gudjohnsen’s tackle on Malouda was awful but he got away with it yet Essien was still sent off against Fulham for less dangerous tackle when he was jumping to avoid a tackle. Even the commentator made that reference. We were lucky to void a defeat even if there was ever a winner then it was more likely to b us. We dropped more points and i am getting a tad more worried abt our Champions league place next season. What more to say i thought the two Brazilians were great. I had followed David Luiz for sometime now so i know what to expect from him, even though i am a bit concerned referees may target him cos he plays for us. Martin Tyler made that reference too last night cos sometimes it seems the officials target us not for what goes on on the field but for previous reputations. KTBFFH
And the team should ditch the black suit , black tie, black shirt Dolce & Gabbana attire next season makes Carlo look awful when he’s on the touchline.
Had the season started in November we would be 10th. This is the actual form table and illustrates how rubbish we currently are. That goes for manager, boardroom, players and supporters.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/8325404/Chelsea-would-be-10th-in-the-Premier-League-if-the-season-had-begun-in-November-scoring-less-than-West-Brom.html
BlueChampion,
Then you would not support Carlo that much ….
I expect to see huge changes in coaching staff this summer …
paremal,
Ancelotti developed Kaka? :)) It is like I claim that Jose Mourinho developed Drogba. Kaka was attracted all attentions when he was in Brazil. You probably do not watch Brazil league. Kaka was a start in Sao Palo before he moves to Milan.
Wll said, I am glad you mentioned these names, Carlo had the best players in the world, I can even say they had better player than Real Madrid, can I ask you how many time did Carlo win Serie A with all these stars ?
Injury for every team, injury is an excuse for losers, Carlo should be peroffesional enough to understand that injury might happen, so he must bring a good player to replace injured Drogba … Chelsea is not Fulham or West Ham. Yes, if Gullit, Vialli or Ranier[before Roman empire] told me we are not getting result because of nijuries, I would buy that, but not from Carlo. He repeatedly claimed I have a good sqaud, so it seems that he did not have a good sqaud. and I as a fan, knew it is not a good sqaud, how come he as a professional manager did not know….
shawn,
you wanna save money start with Carlo, he highest earning manager in the world …
You cannot blame players … of course Lampard can perofm well, he is marked all the time, this is manager responisbility to find solution to find space for him …
as I said before, look at Daniel Sturrudge …. 3 goals in 3 games …
maysam,
Totally disagree. (1) If you’ve read the post you know what my concerns are about Carlo. (2) Having playing played football or not has absolutely nothing to do with this. You’ll find two camps of people in all categories.
Wow! I can see alot of people is hurting by these results. Its like you invested alot into this club? Chelsea played poorly and didn’t deserve to win the match. Having said that Fulham didn’t play well either and on nine occasions out of ten will probably lose if you match the two clubs up together. Chelsea with their star studded team played shit, if you pardon my french.
I just can’t believe how poorly Chelsea played. This is Fulham we’re talking about? A Chelsea team filled with a full complement of internationals played rubish. Football players are human and not machines. But how can nine (excluding Cech and David Luiz) out of the starting eleven play so poorly?
I soley put the blame on the players. This was just disgusting! cheers!!
maysam,
I have played for a team and under a manager. Trust me buddy, the players under-performed!!! cheers!!
Cutting their wages would do you no good. That would only show the players that the club has lost faith in them, which would cause them to want to leave. BlueChampion is right, this blood is on Carlo’s hands, not the players. Luiz almost lost the game for us last night, but Cech saved the day, and then Dempsey blew a chance that he had to burry. This is not on the players, our squad is aging, and it can be tough to figure out how to blend youth and experience successfully, Carlo is just having trouble figuring that out.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/8325404/Chelsea-would-be-10th-in-the-Premier-League-if-the-season-had-begun-in-November-scoring-less-than-West-Brom.html..READ THIS AND STILL THINK CARLO HAS THE RIGHT TO STAY..for me well before this it’s was clear that improvement will come when he goes but giving him the flick now would be stupid as we have no back up at the club and getting the right person will take time and careful thought.
Single striker formation?
When has Carlo played with a single striker? His most common formations this season have been a 4-3-3 and a 4-1-2-1-2.
Carlo’s available forwards have basically been Anelka, Drogba, Malouda, with Kalou and Sturridge as subs.
Drogba fell off form almost immediately. He scored 29 last season in the EPL. Only 9 so far this season. Anelka never picked up the slack. He’s scoring at about the same rate as 2009-2010. Same goes for Malouda. Kalou is wasteful. And until January 6th Sturridge had shown very little.
So compared to last season there’s been a dramatic reduction in goals from the forwards. Somewhere between 15-20 fewer goals And the manager hasn’t had anywhere to turn to replace them.
Then you subtract most of Frank Lampard’s 22 Premier League goals from last season. He only has 3 so far.
That’s a goal deficit-to-date of well over 20 goals.
Simple math. Almost impossible to overcome. Especially when your defence has become leakier due to age, injury, poor squad choices and form.
Calciopoli really distorted Serie A during his tenure.
Milan were found guilty, of course. But so too were two-time champions Juventus.
It’s hard to put much stock in the results of a corrupt league.
As for Ancelotti replacing Drogba, I guess it bears repeating that Ancelotti is a coach only. He’s not a manager.
He has virtually no control over player acquisitions and the composition of his squad.
wxwax,
And you say we didn’t plan for a possible season-long injury of our top striker who’s aged 32? We played mostly 4-3-3, especially the dreaded 4 months, we played 4-3-3 nine out of ten times. For this single striker formation, we had lots of options. While you mostly play a single striker formation, you’ll never have two equally top strikers in your squad, because the other top striker may not be kept in the bench or may not want to play out of position.
In any single striker formation, the teams do run the risk of their flagship striker not being available due to injury. My point is, Carlo had enough second choices and his own experience and tactical acumen to manage Drogba’s absence. Anyway, all these months, if the issue was around our finishing quality, this argument of Drogba’s absence ‘somewhat’ reasonable. All this while, our issue has been around creating chances and opportunities. Bottomline is we have a better squad than some of the top teams and yet we find ourselves in no.5.
P.S: 4-3-3 is a single striker formation.
Don’t agree. He has as much control on player acquisitions in Chelsea as he had at Milan. Coming from Italy, he’s very well accustomed to work in such circumstances. Anyways. I’m very convinces that our squad is not so poor that it has to be No.5 in the league. So, it’s only a question of using your squad wisely.
Correct.
Virtually none.
Correct.
Just as Chelsea didn’t plan for the loss of oft-injured 30 year-old John Terry. And just as Chelsea didn’t plan for the loss of 32 year-old Frank Lampard.
This was a squad constructed to self-destruct. Which it did.
This is why Frank Arnesen is leaving. He did a terrible job.
And this why Carlo Ancelotti, who had very little say in building this disastrous squad, should not be made the fall guy.
Who?
WXWAX,
Hope we are not trying to indicate that he is fighting a lone battle against Roman or something. We should realise that he is very supported and backed by Roman. For this kind of form, he’d have been gone otherwise. On the contrary, Roman is giving Carlo another go at the trophies with a £70m spending in January!
Since Carlo came in, we have bought Benayoun, Ramires, David Luiz and Torres – all put together £93. And all these additions were made to a squad that was already very good and three of these were added to a double winning squad under Ancelotti. This is where the ‘he has no control’ argument wears thin.
It’s pretty clear. We have a very good squad. We have some fantastic players. We have a top manager. We have a generous owner who continues to show commitment. Despite all this we are at No.5. Whose job is it to make Chelsea No.1 in the table? The manager. So who’s responsible and accountable when we slip to No.5? It’s the manager.
It could have been Sturridge, if he had bothered to rotate in such a way young players like him got proper opportunities. Even at 4-0 at 60 minutes, he doesn’t want to take his stars off. It could be Anelka. It could have been Kalou. Managers are paid to deal with such situations. When all’s well in a great squad like Chelsea, what’s Carlo’s challenge?
Anyway, my other key point was that it wasn’t so much about our finishing. It is our inability to create chances which has hit us hard. If we have been creating a lot of chances in every match and if we don’t have Drogba to finish those chances, I can understand your point. But we don’t create anything. We are mostly clueless and we keep doing the same thing over and over again despite getting failure as the result every single time. Zero game intelligence. Why talk about a missing striker? The issue is the lack of game intelligence is how we put attacks together and how we are able to counter various defences and how score. There are stats like West Brom have scored more than us in the last couple of months. Incredible!
Probably, today’s the day I’d disagree with you even if you said ‘sun rises in the east’.
I disagree. For John Terry, we had options in Alex, Ivanovic, Bruma and van Aanholt. When we missed JT in 06-07, we had Essien playing as centre back and we didn’t hover at No.5. We were also missing Petr Cech and we were playing with Hilario.
For Lampard, we have enough cover among Essien, Mikel, Josh, Ramires and Malouda. I don’t think the point about Arnesen is relevant here. We did not have an injury crisis. Our injury situation was quite normal and something that happens every season to all teams. I told you about how Arsenal were missing van Persie and they operated with a shite striker like Chamakh are still at No.2.
Arnesen is not responsible for us slipping to No.5. No way in hell. Carlo had the options. He was too afraid to experiment. He was too conservative to take risks. Hence he’s paying the price. Simple as that.
Since November 1 we have been the 4th least scoring goal in the EPL, only Fulham, Birmingham and Wolves have scored fewer times. So BC, you are absolutely right, we are not creating the chances to be in the top flight.
Btw hats of to Spurs, they just beat AC Milan at San Siro. Check out the aftermath of Gattusos antics. He went completely berserk. Twice hitting and head butting Joe Jordan (former AC Milan).
correction: least scoring team, of course. BC please edit as you have removed a previously available option
Sorry :(
Please get Jose back to replace me :(
WHAT?!! You want me back?
Let me think bout it you dumb ass ancelotti..
I didn’t think performance against Fulham was so bad. Torres should have had 2, Lamps could have scored, Essien should have scored, very solid defensively .we need more dynamism round the box, not getting behind opponents’ defence enough.Totally dominated them except final third.Good News is that Zhirkhov is back in training.provides much needed pace in the wings
MatBlue,
True, and Essien’s red had cost us so much because we also lost many players to injury around that time. I don’t like Gudjohnsen anymore, he appeared more like WHU player than an ex-Chelsea player, disgusting! But never expect mike cunt dean to be fair with us!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd8tOAJMA8Q&feature=related
take a listen guys!! we all need a lift! :)
Michael,
These are not good excuses for a man who is making the most money …
Although I like Ranieri, I hope he does not succeed in Rome, so we can et rid of Carlo cheaply …
You guys talk about underperforming, injuries and etc … This is one of the responsibilities of a world class manager to predict these thnigs and have plan for them … when you let Carvaliho , Ballack, Joe Cole, Deco go, and shout every day, “I am pleased with my squad” you should know that when that squad fails , you are responsible ….
if you wanna succeed in EPL and CL you should have two decent player [I am not saying world-class] in every position … do we have that? City and tottenham have better squads that us …..
Carlo is a dead man walking …. and one of the reason most players have no motivatrion is that they know the boss will change at the end of season …. did you see the motivation of David Luiz ? that is what we need … I do not mind my team lose … come on … when I started supproting Chelsea , 5th place was great, 4th was a dream … but I was happy because there were guys like Wise, Deasilly, Leabof, Petrescue, Babayro and Flo who did everything for the club … and this is manger who has to work on player’s mentality and make them ready for games ….
Again, Carlo is dead man walking …
Forgetting the wider picture for a moment… I am waiting for :
1. A sublime Torres magic finishing moment ( for Chels )
2. Another rocket smash from Drogs knocking over goalie and ball continuing on between the posts
3. A thumping-whunping headed goal from JT
4. A cracker-jacker of a perfectly timed run and romping finish from Lamps
5. A simple tap in for both Ze Sulk and Kalouey
6. Perfect crosses into box from A. Cole and J. B-winga
7. Confident dribbling past markers from Monsier Flourent
These I have not seen for quite while…….. and it saddens me heart……
when a manager says he will be happy with 4th it’s time for him to give it up…he should be aiming for the top regardless of how bleak things look…my gut feeling now is that the way we are playing…. 4th is NOT a certainty…like someone else mentioned Carlo is a dead man walking…with the players stuck in the same grove tactically and totally down mentally someone needs to them there are still cups to play for and anything and everything is possible….they have the ability……maybe one of the players needs to take control and do what Carlo can’t…get into their heads and at the very least tell them to show some real fight…and do whatever it takes to win…even if it means a mini revolt to look at whats wrong tactically and start playing as a team not like strangers cobbled together one Saturday…for starters they should have bashed the living daylights out of Fulham and as for near misses good teams make their own luck!
