Guys! I’m down with fever. I can barely write. I’ll make this a short post and as always, leave it open for your wise, interesting discussions. I know this result deserves a longer post but I can’t strain too much. Here we go.
Roger Federer would have been proud of that score. When Blackpool finished the match at 4-0, I wasn’t sure if Chelsea would top the table after the first round of premier league season. I know the league table after the first round means nothing, just as the second, third and up to the 37th round. It is this little sentiment that I’d like Chelsea to top the table as soon as the first round ends. I know what you’re saying. It’s not over yet. Liverpool are playing today and Man Utd are playing tomorrow. Allow me to be a bit arrogant here. Neither of them is gonna score 7 goals.
Well, it was surely a flattering scoreline. I wouldn’t say West Brom deserved a goal but Chelsea’s performance didn’t deserve 6 goals. In the first 30 minutes I wouldn’t have bet even one pound on Chelsea finishing with six goals. Actually, I don’t we ever got out of the first gear. The only thing that got us half a dozen goals was the quality and the ‘let’s not stop’ mentality.
So we have just start from where we left last season. Finished the last one with 8 and have begun this one with 6 and this is the sport of football we’re talking about. I’ve been telling you pre-season results mean nothing. To make you understand and believe I even told you Arsenal won a pre-season trophy this month. I can’t tell you how pleased I am to see us start this season like champions. It’s like shouting out loud ‘it’s our title and we’re keeping it’.
The Spurs vs Man City match was a great opener for this season’s premier league. I thought this match was a great advertisement for premier league football for what there is. It was a typical high-tempo match filled with non-stop waves of attacks and counterattacks. There was a lot of heart than skill, more of determination than genius. Most importantly, it was box office stuff and full value for money and time. Ah well, despite the disappointing result, good to see Spurs destroying Man City like they were playing some promoted team. Why don’t the press put some pressure on Man City questioning Mancini’s selection or tactics or asking if Mancini is the right man for the job? Just for some entertainment.
Liverpool to maul Arsenal. Joe Cole to score the winner. Newcastle to beat Man Utd with an injury time winner on the 99th minute (suck it up sunbears!). Time to see who we got at the second place. Cheers!
P.S: For all the Indian readers out there – wish you a happy independence day! Waiting for the news about Roman buying this Indian Premier League cricket club!

First of all.. appreciate da effort of puttin up da post inspite of being unwell bro..take care and get well soon
well… on da match..coudnt agree with you more.. .first half was like a warm-up game.. hell we even made 2 errors… only god knows wht da scoreline wud hve been if WB had scored one…. neways… 6 – 0 was just awesome.. we had the odd bit of luck… but the fluidity came on after the second goal.. essein was showin glimpses of his old self….the drog was incredible… who wud think he jus had an injury…
however… i really think.. we shud have da 4-3-3 formation…with ramires essien and lampard in the middle….i mean .. we just played west brom..and even then we cud see bednar sneakin past our defenders on some occasions.. we need good cover up for our CBs..so that ashley and Iva can come upfront without having to worry about the defensive line….what the heck was anelka doin.. he was almost playin like a saint… it was really inspiring and confusing ..abt how a guy who recently accused for being selfish by the french federation…could be so incredibly generous in da box.. practically the architecht of the lampard goal…. although malouda did a fine job… cant wait for kakuta to fill his shoes and put in some fine performances…
all the punters.. experts and the journos are bettin on Chelsea liftin the BPL trophy… DAMN.. They r so right… :)
KTBFFF
Cheers :D
P.S. Get well Soon ..BC ( may be u really didnt like the third kits) ;)
Yes we are closing in on neymar!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s becoming second nature for us to win by five or more!! Thanks for spoiling us, Chelsea!!
Drogba is pure class, you don’t teach that stuff. It doesn’t come and go with time, like form. Form is temporary. Drogba was robbed the player of the year award, with the ACN being a handicap, but watch out for a 40 goal season if he remains healthy.
Other than Drogba, Anelka played some good stuff yesterday, looming more like a number 10 than number 7, or even number 9. That might be his best position—having no position, roaming freely. I even enjoyed his little cameo at left-back when we were in a pinch. Malouda looks like he is sharp, I still wanted him a bit more involved but whenever he used the ball he was decent. Essien was his usual 8/10. I don’t like him held back, I want him as an attacking threat, but even from deep he can be and was effective yesterday. I’m a big fan of Mikel but he was a bit overshadowed by the Bison yesterday.
Benayoun is a player I like lot and he had an exciting run down the middle which put a grin on my face.
I wan Sturridge and Kakuta to be given playing time, because for all the hype—and I’m more hyped than anyone, especially about the French prodigy, they are yet untried in Chelsea Blue. I hope Ancelotti gives them the opportunity soon.
I’m also glad to see Cech back, our other keepers are ticking time bombs, and that’s really our only Achilles heel this season!
Keep smiling Chelsea fans!! Ktbffh!!
BC good job do get better soon…………
Get well soon BC. Appreciate your effort on putting up a post while being “under the weather”.
I won’t go state the obvious and the match can be summarized as “a great results” while the team is in 2nd gear. But I would like to point out that I’m a bit puzzled by Carlo’s instruction for Yossi. He came in for Lampard but he wasn’t playing the box-to-box role, neither were he playing the AMC that he is used to at Anfield. His passing is good but I was expecting a bit more conviction with a clearer position. Maybe I’m wrong and expecting too much, but I was impress with his runs and his wicked thru passes, maybe I’ll judge him again after Game#5. Malouda had a decent game, you must give the lad credit for his anticipations, he always look involve thru out the 90 minutes. Essien is so crucial for us, he is indeed the 12th man, no, make that the 12th & the 13th man, his presence will give us a good European run, all the way. Didier Drogba minus the hernia is like the ultimate 20 year old striker. Love the man, love his passion and his play.
On another note, Liverpool vs Arsenal was a bit disappointment. Joe Cole’s debut ended with a red card. He was doing ok in the early play and I think he will be Liverpool’s secret weapon for the season if he manage to stay fit, something which I very much doubt.
While I might be excited about Neymar, I’m not quite sure if he could come in and claim a spot. I mean, the team looks pretty much set. I know many would question Anelka throughout the season but Sturridge is proving himself from game to game. I would have offered Santos a £23 million plus a return 1-year-loan deal. That would be much more attractive to both parties.
Next stop, JJB, a place real scary place in the past, but we will not get a better timing to visit them after their woeful 4-0 thrashing by the newcomers. See u guys next week on Shout. KTBFFH…
We are gonna need victories like these to stay top this season. With the big four matches becoming more and more unpredictable, we need to make sure we collect the maximum points and goals against smaller teams to lift the BPL again. KTBFFH!
WHahahahahahahhaHAHAHAHAHAahahhahaha….. I’ve just read:
http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2010/08/15/2071502/real-madrid-ready-to-launch-10-million-swoop-for-chelsea-striker-
An offer for our legendary hattrick hero is already ridiculous, and the £10 million statement is really cracking my jaws off (still cannot stop laughing). I bet the journos must have thought “Man, this is the biggest joke of the century, lets run the story”.
Looks like we are set to sign Goalkeeper Begovic for 4.5 mil. That is fantastic. I personally have seen him play for Canada under 21 in the world cup couple of times, he is now 24. perfect signings, all hail the new chief executive. Burn in he’ll Peter Kenyon.
BC, i didnt get an email abt this latest post.
Psssst… everyone !
Agent J. Cole at Liverfool has exceeded expectations from the first day of the league :
Got himself a red-card and made both Liverfool & Arsey LOSE 2 points each ! ….. Well Done Agent Cole !
Directive from JH @ Bluechampions :
Get urself sold to ManUre in January !
I think it was a remarkable way to start off the season as we have been struggling quite a bit in pre-season. A couple of defeats by a few German teams as well as a morale-deflating loss against Manchester United. I was pretty impressed with Didier Drogba as I expected lesser from him. He had just recovered from a hernia surgery and even though he was quite confident of having that spring in his step, I had some doubts.
However, all doubts were erased when he put three past the hapless Scott Carson. I think that this hat trick could go a long way in deciding the Golden Boot this season again. Drogba will be leaving for the African Cup of Nations in January and this hat-trick would help him build a healthy lead over the likes of Rooney, Torres and maybe Tevez.
I think that Manchester United will beat Newcastle United as expected, albeit now as huge a margin as 6-0. But, I guess they won’t be too far off from us, so we need to be consistent and win regularly. Drogba and Anelka needs to forge that terrifying partnership we desire. In midfield, I guess we are pretty solid. New signing Ramires can help Essien control the midfield with his boundless energy and Lampard can score his specialties – arriving late in the box and burying that late late shot.
That’s all and Good Day to All.
Drogba will be leaving for the African Cup of Nations in January and this hat-trick would help him build a healthy lead over the likes of Rooney, Torres and maybe Tevez.
No, that won’t happen as there’s no ACN this year.

There’s no African Cup in 2011, only in 2012 :D
If there is a small percentage of chances where Didier can be named FIFA player of the year, this shall be it. I’m not saying he will be the front runner just after a hattrick game, but this may be his last chance. So c’mon DD!!!!

BC, another awesome yet short analysis on the opening game. Get well soon, buddy !
We were pretty awesome after we got the first two goals, we took control of the game and never let West Brom in at any moment in the second half. I think it is crucial for us to get our first goal against an opposition as early as possible for us to win such games with massive scorelines. I still don’t think we are very capable of coming back after going down to an opponent 0-2 or even 0-1 for that matter. Ancelotti, I am sure, will have addressed this however.
Ramires looks like an interesting signing for us. He is a work-horse, box-to-midfielder and can compliment well with Essien as HE can stay back and cover the back-four when Essien makes his marauding runs forward. Does this spell the end of Mikel’s presence in our defensive midfield ? Only time will tell.

LOL, who the HELL wants to see ManUre when we played a much more enjoyable game !? The world’s eyes are on Chelsea again. The title is staying at the Bridge.
KTBFFH !!
Özil joins Real….does that mean we´ll get to sign Kaka someday?
Özil joins Real….does that mean we´ll get to sign Kaka someday?
i think VDV…. that would be a sweet deal… I really wanted Ozil to come but if he wants madrid… what to do… madrid will be over loaded with CAM therefore VDV can come on a cheap, then we get a striker…. and we will be good to go…
i just hope we´ll get to see a new CAM before the transfer-window closes.
Personally I dont mine either Kaka or VDV, the reason i dont mind Kaka is cause Carlo knows how to get the best out of him, Kaka is another Ronaldo-esque player, who needs a arm around him to tell him he’s the best, and Carlo sure knows how to get the best out of his players. In other news, Man Shitty have agreed to sign Milner, think they have something like 50 players for the season now LOL.
P.S. Ramires will be given the Number 7 Shirt, worn previously by Sheva, KTBFFH

Kaka did not want to come to chelseafc when ee wanted him, lets hope Ramires becomes a Kaka for us in the near feature
Great game to get the cobwebs off and remind the Blues’ fans that the team isn’t that bad. People kept referring to our pre-season form , and i agree it was shambolic but truth be told 3 matches were played with quite rightly the Juniors. Some of whom even i who follow the young Blues a lot couldn’t make out, like 15 year old Chalobah against Ajax. They acquitted themselves well but for some dodgy goalkeeping from Hilario and Turnbull. Irecall a last season people on this forum clamouring for Turnbull to be put in post when were winning our matches and we had to face Liverpool at the Bridge with Cech injured. Turnbull is poor. His confidence is terribly gone and as a keeper confidence is your primary asset.
This is making excuses for the team but there is no way we are gonna face a premier league team having Van Aanholt and Bruma as our centre back pairing. That was the pairing that face Ajax, with Bertrand. We lost those matches but were not disgraced. I am not saying all is well at the Bridge, but it’s not the end of the world.
On the West Brom match i think the result was harsh on the baggies, they played well, infact, very well. They just couldn’t cut it in the final third. Whereas the Boys were all over them in the final third. Alex played really well and i am glad he has replaced Riccy. I still insist Anelka and Malouda r contributing reasons why we continue to score lots of goals. Anelka is a strange type of striker, whom, we will sorely mis when his time comes to leave the club. There isn’t his type anywhere else among the European Big Boys. He gives us so many options when he is in the team, opening spaces and chips in with the odd goal.
Let’s not get carried away, the season just started. I just hope we hit our form at the right time. KTBFFH

Nice selection, but I think if it is 4-4-2… then for carlo, it will be back to diamond formation again, with Lampy at the tip. The only problem with diamond is that we failed to breakdown the “bus parkers” when away from home due to lack of width. Something that Carlo had not manage to solve from our 1st season. For now 4-3-3 remains our best bet.

robinho has green light to leave!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I first read the story, I too thought to myself, why not try and get Robinho, but then for a number of reasons I thought, it won’t be wise, and here is why,
1: Citeh will never sell to their direct rivals, they blocked Bellamy’s move to Spurs, so what would wanna make them sell Robinho to us ??
2: Like most Brazilian players (no disrespect), he has a very laid back attitude, doesn’t track back, is not a great team player, sometimes too much of a show pony just like Ronaldo but without the final product that Ronaldo never fails to deliver.
3: Would be the bad apple amongst the Chelsea players, the last thing you want is unrest and lack of unity within the squad, we have a lot on our plate already, with all the media shinanigans about Terry and Ash.
4: Along with Pele, Robinho is urging Neymar to stay at Santos and not sign for us, so not exactly a fan’s favourite is he??
5: Had his chance to sign for us but blew it and decided to follow the riches to Citeh, and thank god we dodged that bullet, because everyone knows how much of a flop and sulk he was at Citeh.
6: Players like him can only play in Brazil, where the slow tempo and a million show pony tricks suits their style of play, bring these players to the EPL and there aren’t many good examples of success stories out there.
7: Has a ridiculous wage demand, and what exactly will be bringing us ?? More goals, how many goals do we want to score, 10 a game ?? He has the ability to beat his marker and is a world beater on his day, but the negatives still heavily outweigh the positives, therefore Robinho to Chelsea is a big NO NO!!
Feel free to add in your 2 cents, KTBFFH
Guys what a way to start the season. But to be honest there was only one team playing football. On another note I’m just so sad that Joe Cole has gone from such a happy man to such a angry man. He must be heart-brocken to be kicked out of Chelsea and then has to play for Liverpool to get any decent first team football. He emotions were shown on Sunday as he lashed out on an Arsenal player to be given a straight red card. Then he was caught driving over the speed limit in the week. Hope that he recovers from this set-back. cheers!
BC I just read your post. Sorry to hear that you down with fever. Surprisingly this is one of your better posts. Very funny! I’ve been with this site since the begining and it is a part of my life. Hope you get better champ. cheers!

HUTCHINSON RETIRES : http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2128249,00.html
A sad day for the club and a sad day for such a young talent. I wish him well and hope he find his future away from the pitch but close to heart of Stamford. Be strong my boy.
Neymar has signed a new deal with Santos and will stay there, im happy in a way, paying £25M for an 18 year old is ludacris, and on top of it, he’s only been proven in Brazil, think he would struggle to adapt to the roughness of EPL, specially being as light built as he is. Im still keen on Aguero, he can be that missing link, but then again fantasies dont become reality. KTBFFH

vaan der vaart is for sale!!
good news hope we are looking to get him!!
I hope we get a player like Drenthe if van der vaart or agüero are too expensive because he’s a great dribbler with loads of pace, and we were very interested a few seasons back when he won the 2007 European U-21 for Netherlands and was player of the tournament. He’s definitely a different sort of player to anything we have.
Maybe Kakuta can fill that role but he is more effective centrally, plus Drenthe is pretty sound defensively as he can play at left-back.
Zhirkov can play well on the wing, and every time I see him play I just feel like he won’t ever disappoint. He can be a wizard on the ball—he was in CSKA… That’s how he earned his nickname, the Russian Ronaldinho…
The thing we lack most I belief is a genuine number seven, a fast, tricky winger, which has been impossible to find since a certain flying Dutchman by the name of Arjen Robben left to Real Madrid.
Last thing on this topic of possible wingers/signings… What happened to our interest in young Alan Dzagoev from Russia?? He seems like an incredible prospect, and is a Chelsea fan!! I hope we don’t miss out on him when he leaves his homeland!

we are not going to get Neymar within 5 years.
i love my club

yeeeeeeeeesssssss Aquilani could leave italy!!
Wigan 0 – 6 Chelsea ……..Let me guess BC’s next post’s title. “Normal Service Continues…….”
@39– Oh yeah!! Normal Service continues…. Actually, I am getting tense nowadays if we don’t score 5 or more….
Chelsea Rocks……………….WIG 0 -CHE 6
if we keep winning like this i would be very happy min target is win 7 8 games in a row
i was telling people that whistle won’t be blown until the 6th
i missed the game due to work, but the scoreline is really flaterring. i saw the highlights and almost all the goals were prepared by unselfish works from DD. Malouda and Anelka´s cleverness and quick-finishing made all the goals look very beautiful. Its always nice to see Kalou score goal, hope he can be consistent on that. Benayon opens his account, so congrats to him. Hope he´ll flourish in our team. and i like the Carlo´s quote, ” This is not real football, this is Playstation!” lol!!! Great job done guys!!! KTBFFH
