The season begins tomorrow. Chelsea will play their first pre-season game against Crystal Palace tomorrow. We are not going to the US this time for the pre-season. This game would be at Selhurst Park, the home of Crystal Palace, right here in London. It’s good that the players don’t have to make long travels with longer jet-lags just for the pre-season, after a physically and mentally tiring world cup.
The new away kit has now been released while the launch would be in August. When I first saw this black away kit, I was excited because I like these kind of black kits. Our ‘unlucky’ away kit of the last season was more of a black and blue kit. This new kit is a full black kit with stuff like adidas three stripes, kit name and number in orange. When I saw this kit in action, in the kit release event on Chelsea TV, I realised that the kit looks lighter on the torso. When players are on the move, the front side doesn’t look black at all, because it isn’t. All said, this kit looks very good.
The big news about tomorrow’s match is the return of the bison. I know this is a cliche but I have to say it – Essien’s return is like a new signing for Chelsea. Our best period of the last season was when Essien started in our midfield. If he can start about 30 matches in the premier league this season, we should fly high. I’m sure Carlo would play almost all the players that are available. We won’t get to see Yossi playing for Chelsea yet as he won’t be available due to injury. This match would be telecast live on Chelsea TV. I have access only to the Chelsea TV online. I might watch this match if the internet streaming is decent. In any case, I’d watch the highlights and share my thoughts with you all.
In transfer news, there’s still nothing concrete for Chelsea. If anything, Hodgson confirms that Torres is not leaving, after his face-to-face meeting with El Nino in Spain. Papers report that Chelsea are offering £30m for Torres. It’s true that Liverpool need the cash but getting back to champions league would be the top priority for them. With Man City strengthening so much, Liverpool will have to be really worried. So, unless Torres wants out, it’s hard to see him in a Chelsea shirt this season. Despite his desire to play in the champions league, Torres does seem to love playing for Liverpool. But still, we are yet to hear from Torres on his ideas about his future.
Meanwhile, Man City are on a spree and that’s not a surprise. They have bought some really good players and are looking to buy some more. Look at their purchases so far – Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome Boateng – these are fantastic buys for their positions on the pitch. They are building a truly formidable squad. We still need to see how these players play together, how well they gel with each other, how the egos can be kept under check and how much ‘devotion’ they would have to their club.
Chelsea certainly has a vision and strategy. Our transfers over the last 5 seasons have shown that. Carlo seems to be keen to use the youth players that we have and he is also interested in buying players for the future than for just this season. More than ever before, I have full faith in this Chelsea management which comprises of various people from Ancelotti to Gourlay to Abramovich himself. Something tells me that we would be the European champions this season.
Let’s hope we have a great season ahead. All the very best! I’ll leave you with this great picture to kick start this football season! This is Nicolas Anelka. When has the world seen this man like this? My caption to this picture is ‘The Spirit of Chelsea’. What you see here is success + style. Let’s keep the blue flag flying high!

Lets field the following team tomorrow in light of the absence of our world cup participants and injured players (Bosingwa, Benayoun, Mancienne, Zhirkov)
4-4-2 diamond
Cech
Hutchinson, Alex, Bruma, Van Aanholt
Mikel
Essien, Matic
Kakuta
Sturridge, Borini
I want chelsea 2 use 4-3-3 formation rem’ber dat is our traditional 4mation; cech,hutchison,alex,bruma,van anholt,mikel,essien,matic,kakuta,borini,sturridge
Sorry guys but players like Gael Kakuta and Fabio Borini will be representing their contries (France and Italy) in the Uefa Under 19 championships in northern France tomorrow. Both should be available for selection for our game against Ajax though…
(Chelsea fan) I said this before, that this will be a test for our second string players. Pre-season friendlies are good for a team in a sense that it builds confidence for the players, the team and also for the supporters. However the worst part is that we may get unnecessary injuries. I hope Torres joins us(Chelsea).
Guys I am getting worried with the lack of activity in the transfer market for chelsea. BC when are we signing two replacements for the guys that left, hope we are not using youngsters to replace them……..
BC,the official website says the new kit will be worn for the game against Hamburg.Mikel and Mancienne have also been ruled out. That means we could see Jack Cork in the holding midfield role. Not sure who is partnering Alex in the center of defence

I think we are gonna use younsters ,Shawn. This pre-season is a make or break for many of them.

You’re right Nayanesh. Chelsea are playing in blue. Goalless after 30 mins. Great to see Essien in action!
Cech substituted before half time..Any injury ???
0-0 at half time ..
Michael Essien SCORES!!! Brilliant!
WOOOHOOO!..the young lads are nt tt bad!
Cech substituted before half time..Any injury ???
Nope. In pre-season matches, you generally see the whole squad getting a few minutes each match. Nothing to worry.
A quality goal by Essien helps us to a 1-0 win.It was fantastic to see the youngster have a go and most of them impressed me
I’ve lost my subscription to Chelsea tv so I won’t be watching the match. I’ve always been a fan of investing in youngsters and letting them grow up together and playing together winning trophies along the ranks. To be honest with you, I’ve never been a Michael Essien fan, but its good to see him fit. Go Chelsea. cheers!
Shut the fk up michael?
Michael gets the award for best Chelsea troll, and get that subscription back punk!
It was great to see Chelsea on TV again (live) and to witness our dear Essien running again…and scored…. marvelous. But I’m not too happy with Di Santos… the lad is hard work and no doubt about that… but there’s a lack of presence and intelligent in his play. Sturridge didn’t impress either… the lad is about strength and strength alone. Lets hope a full season with the seniors would make him better. I also hope Sinclair can come back in and sweep everyone’s feet away again… he’s still on the potential page and some of us are still waiting…. and waiting. Good start to the pre-season… its not the scoreline that is important… its the performance and the who’s no longer injured that matters most. KTBFFH!
Cannot believe I left out the most important thing about yesterday’s match :S …. Bruma has shown that he is 100% chelsea material… love the guy. I think we will see some wonderful display from him. Very impressive and classy.

But we will be sending him on a year-long loan at Wolfsburg, do you like the idea?
kakuta didnt play because he is playing 4 france in u 19 euros
But we will be sending him on a year-long loan at Wolfsburg, do you like the idea?
Not happy… not happy at all. I do agree that some loan deals are great for building up experience to these youngsters but not with the Chelsea’s current squad. Today’s game is much much more intense and the chance of injuries is much higher compared to a few years back. By not loaning them out, I believe these youngsters will get equal number of minutes on field if not more. Thats just my take.
p.s: If JC signed for Liverpool, he will lose my respect as I cannot see a “footballing” reason in doing so. I can understand Arsenal and Spurs, but not Liverpool… even Man City would have made more sense! Wake up JOE!!!
And that too for a meagre 900,000 a week!
One thing i think will make me regret in coming years is that we have let Nouble (Frank) and Stoch cheaply out. These two will shine in future and it would pain me if they cause too much pain to us along the way. I regret especially Chelsea letting Stoch go!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1295951/Joe-Cole-signs-Liverpool-Chelsea-ace-snubs-Arsenal-Tottenham.html
Official … Joe Cole has signed a 4 year contract with Liverpool, here’s wishing Joe the best of luck in the future, he has been a loyal servant to the club and i hope he does well. So Benayoun for Joey …. whats next, Kalou & Anelka for Torres anyone??
Liverpool sign Joe Cole
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/8834962.stm
hmm..y did joe cole go liverpool!!!!!!!???wanted him to move abroad rather than go to a rival…now i really hope chelsea start to make gd signings…getting impatience with those rumours nt being true…getting aguero, neymar must be prioritise…chelsea also need a winger

As far as i see it we are not going to spend any more then maybe another £10-15M on players …. and instead give the youngsters a chance to shine for next season. Carlo says we dont need Torres, so that rules out a move for Aguero automatically, at best we might … JUST MIGHT … land Ozil … and thats as good as it gets … don’t have any high hopes dude … only Citeh fans get to see big player signings now day … clucs like Chelsea, Utd are doing safe and sensible business!!
yea i dun expect players like torres…too ex…but aguero i think is a sensible target…cheaper and easier…he wans to go chelsea…from the sales of players like deco, chelsea can afford to pay for aguero…no high hopes but at least wishing tt chelsea get gd players though..we already seen the sales of ballack, cole, deco, stoch, belleti
personally i have a liking for aguero and balotello…i realli wish chelsea have these players..cmon ancelotti grant my wish
I’ve seen a few sites promoting more loans on Chelsea’s youngsters with a full list of championship side and a few EPL teams waiting at bay. I have an opinion that Chelsea FC is a massive club and should behaving like one, meaning that we should have a bunch of youngster waiting on the pipeline ready to fire those cylinders when called upon. How many of our loaned prodigy has benefited CFC? I can’t name any at this moment in time. Besides, in today’s competition, most loaned product are used as backups (bar Stoch at Twente) rather than 1st teamer. I hope Carlo can be the man to churn out new blue bloods in the coming season. The transfer market is pretty slow for us and there’s not much coverage of what’s going on behind the scene, no news on Roman’s wishlist and most of the transfer rumour news are from their agents themselves. However, I do wish for an attacking midfielder with strength. Hope Carlo can sort out the team before the Charity Shield encounter as I hate to see us linked with hundreds of potentials when the season starts. Still praying for Ashley to stay put for another season. He is very much needed.
P.S: Even I’m extremely disappointed with Joe Cole, I’ll wish him best of luck and thank you for your contribution for CFC.

2. European football After all Europa League is played around Europe
3. Champagne Need not dirty himself and his clothes like he have to when he was with us
4. Derby Merseyside derby is solely focused on Everton; London has tots, arse, fulham, whu, etc.
5. Captain Gerrad is cleaner, his hands are 100% free from EPL trophy
6. Manager All the way to the final, just…Europa League Final! What else?
7. Owner That famous co-owners! I love Americans, so do Joe! Generous Roman is greek to him!

Joker Cole..
Money minded…
Ok fellas, it’s been a while since i last came here and quite a lot has gone on since then. First things first. BC, so what do u make of Roman’s choice of Sir LAncelotti as our manager, inspired or lucky? I do recall i was the only one out here telling people to trust the owner on this. You see, i am not at all for interference but i genuinely believe Roman does want the very best for Chelsea Football Club. He wants the Club to do well, i.e. win trophies and he wants the club to make a good name for itself. Smart man too, stays out of the media and when the UK press throw dirt at him he only meets them in court, usually wins his case and donates them to charity. So BC, give those in charge at Chelsea Football Club some credit. They really do know their stuff. They are not perfect and yes, we should point out their mistakes, but we should know they are closer to the players than we r or ever will be.
So we won the league and Cup double. Great season. After all the media machinations and dirty tactics to distable the team.
I agree some were self inflicted like JT and Ash but surely this has to stop somewhere. Are Ash and JT the only ppl in the world having marital problems. I hardly indulge in ppl’s personal issues, cos well, i suppose i dont know what they r going thru. But does anybody find this odd that even after Man City throws money at it’s players like confetti not a single press house in the UK is even blinking an eye? All the bad focus is on Chelsea. I feel this sort of negativity in the media has forged the character of this team. Mentally, we r very strong. Can u imagine if this was done to any other club?
Ballack, Joe Cole and Belleti have left for new adventures. I wish them all well. They served the club well when they were here. I particularly wanted Ballack to stay for at least a year more i think he had improved so much and found his place as the defacto holding midfielder. He did it better than Mikel in my opinion and Essien is wasted at that position.
Belleti did well for us, i liked him even though at times he was a nervous wreck at right back. But he had his moments with us and i wish all the best.
Joe Cole, Joe Cole, Joe Cole. I really dont know what to make of him. First off, i think he should fire his agent, adviser or whoever is in his camp prompting him to shoot for more money. The lad seemed lost in his interviews. Joe Cole was good, but not this Ronaldinho-Ozil- Ronaldo the English media make him out to be. I saw Cole over the last two seasons and he has been dire to say the least. We are often bombarded with “he is a special player who makes things happen. He wasn’t loved, He wasn’t played at his natural position”. Can someone here please tell me “natural” position? Cos Cole has gone through Morinho, Scolari ,Hiddink, Carlo. They all can’t be wrong, surely not. He has been played on the left , right, and even at the tip of the midfield diamond , where every pundit claimed was his “natural position” and he still came up short. Conversely Kalou, who comes up for lots of stick has shown great improvements over the last two seasons( though i agree he could score so many more if his finishing improves). So for Joe Cole’s sake i hope he improves and isn’t torn apart by the scousers.
On transfers, i agree we have been a bit slow but i believe this is partly because the team is considering some of the youngsters coming thru and people, believe me, we do have some wonderful talent in our academy. People clamour for Oziland rightly so , but i do believe Kakuta is similar to Ozil, faster and physically stronger too. Those here who still haven’t really seen the lad should brace themselves, he is that good. Josh McEachren is fantastic too . He is younger abt 16 years and his close control and wonderful left foot is a delight and a surprise for an English lad. I hope we do make some signings in the middle of the park. I personally think Khedira of Germany should be our target. a striker and a right back. For left back i prefer giving Ryan Bertrand a chance and please Ash isn’t going anywhere.
So this is my brief. Hope the coming season brings as much success as the season gone. KTBFFH
37. MatBlue,
I agree with you although i haven’t seen Kakuta in action and yes Josh is a sensation. I disagree with you on this: we don’t need a right back as long as Bosingwa and Ivanovic are around, what do you say?
i thinhk the young defender lads in chelsea r gd and potential stars so i dooubt chelsea really need any defenders…srna would be a decent buy though for right back..in midfield,we need to buy definitely as we lost jcole, ballack, deco …we certainly need a playmaker…players like ozil, vdv, kaka…as for our strikers…we may need to recruit one for the future…i suggest, balotelli, aguero
@KarmaCW
I get your point on the rightback issue i raised. I said that cos i believe we may let ferreira go. Whilst at left back we have Ash, Yuri and young ones like Van Aanholt and Bertrand we cant say the same for right back. Then again Ferreira could stay and we all know he’s gotten a tad slow. What do u guys make of Carvalho too.

lol…. one really cannot find a better justification than those listed. But Hodgson has struck a steal deal here, atleast as far as the present state of liverpool is concerned.
Heck the media, I have lost count of the numerous potential targets Chelsea were linked with. I have made a stance to get excited only when the official site confirms a deal. Although, I won’t be annoyed if Benayoun was Chelsea’s last transfer activity.

Malagantz thanks for the prize. I wouldn’t be to worried about Joe Cole leaving Chelsea. If you think about it he probably wouldn’t have made the first team at Arsenal, Totenham or Manchester City. Liverpool is his safest option to atleast get some first team action. I’m disspointed that our beloved club cannot assist in any of our youth players, making that leap from the youth team into the first team. Arsenal our major London club rivals seem to do this on a consistent basis. Just some food for thought. cheers
Bruma is more than ready to make a leap i feel. Sturridge and Bertrand can follow too.

Jeff Bruma is a dutch under 21 international he is a rising star we hope he improves cos alot of those young lads just dont want to such as ben saha (out),de santos,MICHAEL MANCIENE,stoch I watched him during the world cup there was no promise from that lad i guess the dutch league is not that good a player that scored 15 goals there could not spark there
Here I have found a great site with a large selection of Chelsea Memorabilia to kick of the new season with including signed items from stars such as John Terry and Frank Lampard.

What i think Chelsea should iz,play the kids now like mix them up with the first team.O.k.it’s allright going for torres and multi million pound players bu the kids are the future of chelsea and how will we know how good they are if we don’t play them. That’s what i’d like to see at chelsea jus look at man city they are trying to buy a good team to win everything. We have to look to the future now.Barca have done why not the english clubs and for the england team so they have a future it’s the right way to go.
