Fantastic win! I’m elated, excited, thrilled! Great performance by the Blues! All your post-match comments right here! I’ll publish the match reactions after I’m done celebrating . . that is . . tomorrow. Keep the blue flag flying high!!!
BBC Sports:
Chelsea took a giant step towards the Premier League title with a comfortable win over Liverpool at Anfield. The visitors made a nervy start, but were gifted a 33rd-minute opener by Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool captain’s backpass was intercepted by Didier Drogba, who rounded Pepe Reina before slotting in. Nicolas Anelka set up Frank Lampard to make it 2-0 after 54 minutes, and a toothless Liverpool side never threatened a comeback.
ESPN Soccernet:
Liverpool started the game well but were stunned when Steven Gerrard played a terrible backpass to let Didier Drogba through on goal and give Chelsea the lead. Conspiracy theorists will have their thoughts as many Liverpool fans had wanted Chelsea to win in order to stop rivals Manchester United claiming the title, but on the pitch, the Blues were much the better side.
Salomon Kalou should have had a penalty when he appeared to be tripped by Lucas just before the break, but referee Alan Wiley waved away the claims, much to the annoyance of Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.
He didn’t have to wait long for the game to be made safe though as Nicolas Anelka crossed well for Frank Lampard to bundle the ball between Pepe Reina’s legs. Liverpool offered little by way of resistance and Chelsea held their lead to move four points clear at the top of the league, with Manchester United due to play Sunderland later in the day.

hi BC ur post was really quickly uploaded today,no pictures, good job and keep up the good work….
I’m absolutely delighted COMMON CHELSEA LET’S DO THIS!!! It’s so important to win the title without Mourinho because then we can put his ghost to bed once and for all. I think Ancelotti deserves tons of credit!
That was a nice win. Hope we can wrap up the title by evening. If not, then we must give one hell of a grand finale against Wigan.
Gr8 WIN…..1 more to GOOOOOOOOO…….

Indeed, that was a good help.
though Gerrard is sometimes prone to such mistakes.
I remembered Henry’s same goal against Liv some 3-5 years ago. An identical situation.
Still loving how Drogs and Lamps did the job today.
There was a time when i wished atleast one side scored, so that open game would commence. Been worried that we could get last minute equaliser or smth.
We have more chances in open game you know.

http://chelsea-fc-fan-club.blogspot.com/2010/05/liverpool-0-chelsea-2-match-report.html
So this is what it feels like to be Champions-elect, eh ? Good game from the Blues, we were never under pressure from the Reds, we always had a certain element of control over the game which sort of allowed us to stay calm and never really shift into second-gear or increase the tempo or anything.
Wigan have been a pain in the backside for us in recent years, remember the narrow 2-1 win under Guus last season at the Bridge ? Or the 1-1 draw under Grant courtesy of Heskey which tilted the title race in Manures favor ? If they had anything to play for, I’d be a little cautious but since their safety is guaranteed, we can play free football and open them up. I’m looking forward to another 7-0. What Say ? We’ve got an Italian manager after all, so lets win it in STYLE.
KTBFFH !!
it’s a very good game by the blues but still we did’t win anything yet .
btw, did anyone see what Stoch did in dutch Liege last day ?
he helped his team to win the title , score 9 goals and assist 11 more : )
I am happy that our heroes did it, and indeed my comment “I see a happy Sunday at my door” can’t be more true!
The moment i saw mash at the right back, i knew we can do it. The moment i saw some doodles on their shirt in place of ‘Calsberg’, i knew we got them. The moment i saw rafa with that look, i knew that he was with us. But the moment i saw alan wiley, i feared his love for manure and sure indeed he tried to stop us from winning…shameless retard.
And steve bennet at The Stadium of Lights did countless favours to manure with very very poor decisions. Referee alone gifted them the goal by denying the chance for Sunderland to draw or win it.
But let us all rejoice because we can afford it. And our heroes were celebrating in Anfield’s away team’s dressing room.
Drogba is on 26 and Chelsea is on 95 which means that this Sunday we have to score more goals and 2 or more by Drogba to set an unprecedented record of highest ever goals scored in the EPL history and also to confirm the golden boot to Didier! Both are possible and it would be an icing on the cake to our home double in English football’s history.
Things are heavenly for us, let’s pay wigan back…let’s do it…..CHELSEA!!!
Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United. (WINNER)
Manchester United 1-2 CHelsea (WINNER)
Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal (WINNER)
Arsenal 0-3 Chelsea (WINNER)
Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool (WINNER)
Liverpool 0-2 Chelsea (WINNER)
95 goals all season is one game
And winner the EPL 2009-2010 Trophy CHELSEA FC>>>>>
I think the game would of gone very differently had Gerrard not given away that goal. It was all Liverpool up until that point and they were improving, then they conceeded on of the lightest of goals and it was over for them.
Sunderland tried very hard, but could not seem to find an end product, Darren Bent wouldn’t even look at the goal when he had the ball, yet alone shoot at it. Anyway. Last game sees us showing Wigan what should of happened in the JJB stadium. Revenge at the birdge would be a good way to cross the finishing line
Man words can’t explain how i felt when we scored the 2nd goal …. I ran across my house screaming at the top of my voice … my gf looking at me as if ive won the lottery and just shakin her head sayin “IDIOT” hahaha …. words just can’t explain the feelin …..
I loved our celebration for the 2nd goal …. if you missed it, look at it again, the way chelsea players mob Lamps, the way the crowd erupt and everyone is jumping and huggin each other, the passion and joy on chelsea players faces …. esp Ivano – jus look how passionate the guy was when we scored that goal …. all of that jus sums it up …. it was by no means a fantastic performance … but we did enough to secure all 3 points and in the end all credit to Reina, else it could of been 4-0 in all honesty
Just one more game to go …. jus one final push and the EPL crown in ours …. in front of the Stamford Bridge faithfull … let us cheer the mighty blues on and let us be heard by everyone in the premier league at the bridge …. lets lift our team to glory and beyond …. well done lads …. well done Carlo …. Have bought a plastic trophy to lift at same time JT does and arranged for firecrackers, confetti etc….
Hey maybe I can force them to this torture again when Chelsea plays Portsmouth in the FA final…
Nah it would be too much …. might get beaten up … or worse ! ha ha ha KTBFFH !
Congratulations to the players and staff. I didn’t watch the match. But I saw the goals. The first goal was a very good goal the way Didier Drogba pounced on that Steven Gerrard pass to Pepe Reina. I agree with some previous posts that the passion shown by the players after Frank Lampard scored his goal just showed how much getting back Manchester United’s league trophy means to the players. Though we won the match, I would still like to see Chelsea making some whole-sale changes during next seasons transfer window. Trust me the players are out there! cheers!
Michael, Why is it always about buying new players? U do not know a lot of things about Chelsea and players…u did not watch the game yet u still arrogant about buying new players and u r not faithful enough for chelsea. What is it about new players? A lot of fans are so fanatic about buying new players….
Quoting mindframe
mindframe,I want to see some dynamic in the team. I want paniche. I want an unfair advantage. I don’t want Chelsea fc to have a 50:50 chance of winning the match. cheers!
Quoting Michael
LOL dude 1st of all why do u have a pic of becks in his boxer shorts …. 2ndly why do u always end up brown nosing SAF … 3rdly why isit that u speak low of chelsea and always seem to praise man utd …. 4thly why isit that even after some of our best performances u come here and downgrade our players …. 5thly what is ur obsession with buying new players ??? You wanna see dynamic … young …. energetic players … well our reserves are full of such talent and they will be promoted next year to the first team …. so with that in mind could u quit the act of being a chelsea fan … when probably ur Alex Ferguson himself … also stop sayin the team needs a change all the time. CHEERS!!
Before everyone gangs up on Michael completely I must say David is a very zexy man!
He has got a point if he’s talking about our midfield that really does need some youth A.K.A. not renewing Ballack’s contract.
I think Chelsea must keep 100% focus on Wigan game….
I’m pissed with the press and media when they winding up news that Chelsea can beat Wigan easily….that’s could be a boomerang to us….
let’s we praise Wigan’s performances against so called ‘big four’ teams….
let’s say that ManUnited has easiest game on Sunday….
let’s say manU could trash Stoke with other 7-0 scoreline….
sometimes we need Jose’s mind games to make our lads focus on the game….
Yeah, i also loved Ivanovic’s face of celebration, the guy is so passionate, i love him.
About Michael, i haven’t taken him for a Chelsea fan the very first moment, and he is still not one, i know. The only reason he seems to be one is because we are going to win the title. He keeps on praising manure and he takes every bit of a chance to speak lowly of Chelsea. And his avatar might mean that he loves beckham, bit gayish!
Wigan had said that they will do their best to stop us and it makes me laugh because it is not at the dw stadium but at the famous Stamford Bridge! And i just cannot stop laughing looking at cheap red nose. Earlier he begged liverpool to do them a favour and now he resorts to wigan, a shameless wanker, a two-penny indeed! And he has been joined by the Dutch stick man with a Pinocchio nose!
Wigan had a tough game yesterday and they were lucky to get a point off from Hull at teh death of teh game and they played at home! So, take a look at this:
Wigan at home to Hull could just manage to draw in the dying seconds
WHILE
Chelsea battered liverpool at Anfield and would have been 4 or 5 goals up had it not been for reina, or 7 or 8 goals up had we taken all the chances.
Wigan played a day later than us and they have nothing to play for, so it is ours this Sunday!
HURRAY!
i am desperate that we beat wigan by a good scoreline they want to disturb our party 1-1 draw 2 seasons ago hurts 3-1 defeat hurt us more we must score within first 20 min to calm our nerves we need to wrap up the match by 60 70 min so we can relax a bit in last few minutes
On sunday I want chelsea to smash these fuckall incompetent latics into smithreens……they need to be reminded that they are a bunch of fuckall men who possess no quality whatsoever…..the morons almost got relegated (atleast they were fighting against it) and they dare to challenge us at the bridge.
Once in their lifetime they managed to beat us at the DW staduin this season and they feel that can repeat that feat again….come on chelsea just rape these assholes and put them exactly where they deserve to be put.
Hope for a 10-0 scoreline.
loved the way chelsea played. specially kalou on the right flank. do i need to say nething abt lampard, hes genius…
Quoting harsh
Did you watch the match? I think Kalou played much better on the left
Jaz, I want to see my team win just as much as you do. I played in the ameteur leagues so I know Chelsea can do better. I don’t want to see some flair on the field when Chelsea fc plays. But the team could do with some fresh faces and some dynamic. Take for example the matches against Inter Milan. Both legs were horrible. But did you see the way Barcelona fc played at Camp Nou. Pep Gardiola were throwing on changes and Inter Milan just scraped through very reliefed that they were going to the final. I want that unfair advantage that Manchester United had in the 90′s with the calibre of players they had at their disposal. cheers!
Malagantz lol thanks for sticking your neck out for me friend! cheers!
Karma CW, you’re just a kid? C’mon you look at these football players as your heros. I am not going to respond to you. cheers!
Michael,
Yes they are my heroes because they give me happiness which no one can. But the avator shows who is more of a kid! CHEERS!
Quoting Karma CW
Karma CW, I am a passionate Chelsea fc supporter. Ok. cheers!
Unfortunately, I’m with Michael on the midfield front. Lampard doesn’t have the same pace he did in 2006, we just need a player like Matic to come up through the ranks and provide us with better coverability whilst running. Our ability to penetrate defensive lines whislt running the ball is almost non-existent. Kalou vs Mascherano is the best we’ve seen but for everytime Kalou got past him, he didnt score once or make a single assist. I think back to a pass he made out across goal without even looking. If he did, he would of seen Lampard making the run into the empty net, but instead he just wasted the possession.
Michael’s picture is abit homo, but Michael on the other hand, apart from the odd squeeze on Fergie’s booty is probably not (i mean s.a.f, not the former meth addict in black eyed peas)
As a team, Wigan are unnerving me, however, with the title literally 1 win away, ancelotti will not lose this game. Lampard and the blues – I dont think your scoreline is unrealistic, carlo will send Chelsea out knowing that putting a result for Wigan out of sight with some intense play is what we need to do
Karma CW,
I want to be your friend. Yes some of these football players are heros. cheers!
Now guys, I have alot of respect for Sir Alex Ferguson because of what he achieved at Manchester United. He is 68 years old for crying out loud. I think we should treat our ederly statesmen with respect. Likewise I have respect for some football players as well.
Anyone,
Anyway I just thought of something. What if Wigan decides to park the bus at Stamford Bridge? And we end up drawing the match instead of winning. cheers!
Can you 2 guys stop arguing about who is childish and who is gay? Its totally irrelevant to the point. Just hold a nice debate about whether Chelsea should bring in new players; no need to insult each other.
Regarding Wigan parking the bus:
I see no reason why they will do so. They have nothing to fight for and if we play with the same intensity as we did against Man U, I see no reason why we won’t demolish them.
But you do have a point. Wigan have a habit of spoiling Chelsea’s party like the last minute equalizer in the 1-1 draw 2 years ago.
Think about this, if they park the bus that would mean they would be extremely limited to merely counter attacks.
If they do so, it would be exactly like a shooting range for our amazing top scoring Frankie. I have already planned a celebration party, we’re going to crash the new Manure restaurant that just opened and i’m bringing all of my chelsea memorabilia, jerseys, etc…. its gonna be great.
It’s time for us to show Jose that we can do without him.
KTBFFH
Wiki abt Sergio already says he plays as a forward for chelsea for 2010-2011 season
http://bit.ly/6eHECE
i would name the same starting line up for the Pool game… kalou has been great for me.. everytime he plays, ivan is the boss, Alex… seamless .. terry to me makes us look less fluid at the back. (recall the Stoke game— no terry.. defenders got the ball to ballack quickly and ballack .. used his vision to pick out great passes. for me he can retire here on reduced wages. witha bench role. I think we could do better with malouda out on the left wing.. much more attack are made. DROG just has to score atleast 2 to beat that damn roo…. I will stick with anelka… experience up front…. and the same bench.
guys these professionals know whats at steak…. its the reason why they play mechanical and not so adventurous at times…. but i pray they start to score early …. and if they do .. it will be hard to stop them
Funny to read this discussion
)
I really trust our young players and I believe most of them are worth at least a decent chance to show what they can do in the first team. When Carlo said he is going to take five of them to the first team next season, it was one of the best messages for me this season. Looking forward to see them play! When it comes to midfield formation, I am equally optimistic. No doubt Ballack is nearing the end of his career and Frankie is not as fast as he used to be (well, ok, he has never been too fast anyway
) also Belletti is to leave the club and thus no doubt the change is coming. But we still got Mikel and Essien (at least till the next ANC). The first one developed into a decent defensive shield, the second is able to play anywhere, from wingback to attacking midfielder. Frankie will stay at SB for at least 2-3 seasons, thats for sure. After that you can add one of the young talents – Matic, Kakuta, Stoch – and you got a very promising midfield. Obviously no one of them is neither Lamps nor Ballack, but they got other qualities and I am sure they will be able to deal with it.
come on gays we don’t need to buy a new players , especially in the wings
we already had M.Stoch a very effective player in Dutch league
i know that there’s no way anyone can compare EPL with the dutch league
but this player give a very nice season after all .
not to mention Kakuta and Sturregde they will shine in the sky if they have opportunity .
…
maybe we need a midfelder player like Schweinsteiger : |
i hope we win 5-0 so that we can take the goals tally to 100. with drogs scoring a hat trick and winning the golden boot. with the current form, our heroes can do it. cheers
Quoting vovka
people need to start allow these young players to get into their own… and stop refering to them as.. the next drog… next henry… next lampard.. they can only be themselves…..
Mikel is a AM..we should play his as that simple and we will get more out of him… the guy was the best player behind messi at the youth world cup a few years ago….. its like he has to think how to play the DM… however inhis natural AM role…. he just flows….u will see that in the world cup.
matic… i think the guy is good .
Schweinsteiger to our midfield!
hey all…
as for now… all i can think of is TO BEAT WIGAN ATHLETIC…. and it seems a little easy coz
1. we are playin at da bridge –
2. Wigan is not a team tht can park a bus defensive record says so
3. they have an open style of play … lot of spaces open up near the centre…
4. they not having as good full-backs to counter in-form malouda and effective anelka…
5. And most importantly …… Not even for a moment can anyone DARE THINK ABOUT LOSING THE TITLE TO MANURE….. after coming to such a position….It would be better if we package the the EPL trophy in roses and present it on a golden platter in the center of Old trafford…… than draw to WIGAN in Stamford Bridge…. this would be worse than the time when CArlo lost to LFools in 2005…. and i KNOW heez not gonna let it happen AGAIN….
CHEERS
KTBFFH
if you guys remember we lost to Wigan away 3-1. So our lads need to prove that we can win against them.
guys stop worrying about that wigan gamne…chelsea have the fire power to stop them dead in there tracks…

Yeah .. The new article -http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1272500/Chelsea-2-Aston-Villa-1-3-2-agg–Wonder-goal-Conor-Clifford-seals-FA-Youth-Cup-Blues.html
Chelsea to bid 70 MM for torres. do we need for 70 MM.. With that money, I think we can go for Kun, Hamshik ( AM ), Klasic ( RW) ..should call back stoch .. he has scored 10 goals in 32 games for FC twente including the one that won dutch league..
The other worry spot is DM – we have essien and mikel who do the job, with essien injuries, we need b/c ..
If mourinho goes to RM, then they would come for Richardo carvalho.. so either we call back Mancienne or should go for cover.
Michael,
Thank you but you may like to keep your respects and appreciation to non-Chelsea people away from this forum.
Jaz,
Yeah, they play wide and open games and we have the best of full backs so it is not a worry but we can take advantage of their full backs and midfield. We are going to win it because there is the drive and passion, because it is at the Stamford Bridge, because we deserve it! I am going to buy a good wine this weekend!
cfc,
We don’t need Torres because he had said that EPL is too physical for him and that he might get injured. So, there is no point in buying someone who is a self-acclaimed fragile but skillful player. Moreover at this price it is better that we go for Aguero or Dzagoev or even Tevez! We can even buy all three at 70 M pounds!
Anybody know if this match will be available on Indian TV. It appears that espn is showing only cricket today. Otherwise anybody know of any live stream?
