So old Fergie counting on Liverpool pride eh? Look how things change in football. Time and again, Fergie never misses an opportunity to insult them but come tomorrow, he’s hoping on Liverpool’s pride. He’s even gone to extent of talking about Liverpool’s history and the fact that they have won the title 18 times and have been in the european finals 11 times and all that. The old man knows that he is at the mercy of his bitter rival Rafa Benitez’ team. Well, strangely, Liverpool have not been a rival for Man Utd in the premier league. It’s just that Rafa Benitez has turned into a fierce rival to Fergie with their war of words.
Some say that it is stupid to expect Liverpool to play to lose so Man Utd don’t win the title, their 19th title. I say that too. But what I think is, no team steps on the pitch saying ‘c’mon let’s lose this match’. All teams and sportsmen want to win in whatever they participate. But how much you try to win is governed by the subconscious things. There are quite a few things that would be affecting the Liverpool players:
- A win nearly means nothing to them
- It’s annoying for them to directly contribute to Man Utd winning the title
- It’s even more annoying for them to help Man Utd beat their record of 18 titles
- If they ever do, it’s gonna take them millions of years to take that record back from Man Utd
Plus, they are fresh from yet another disappointment of the season. Atletico have just beaten them at Anfield to progress to the Europa Cup finals. Plus, they had to play for 120 minutes. Plus, they had to take the disappointment after being 2-0 ahead and giving themselves hopes. Plus, they know that they would be facing a determined Chelsea side who have just demolished Stoke 7-0. Psychologically, they must be down at the dumps and must hate the prospect of facing Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday. Rafa Benitez can be many things but a motivator is certainly not one of them. His body language and his press interviews are all wrong. If I were a player, I would never want to play under him.
This is Ancelotti, being the eternal diplomat:
Maybe they will be a little bit tired, but I know very well that at Anfield I have never seen Liverpool tired. They play a strong 90 minutes every game and I think they will do the same Sunday. I don’t know if it is better to play against a Liverpool that lost the semi-final of the Europa League or not but we have to think that we play against a strong team. We have to play against fantastic players in a very difficult atmosphere because we know how the fans of Liverpool support their team.
I’d agree with him. The best quality of Liverpool is their physical fitness on the pitch. They are always ready to put in that extra shift if needed. Their minds can let them down once in a while, but their bodies don’t. To lose a Europa cup semi final at home after 120 minutes can be really tiring to the mind and body.
Carlo also says he’s not going to play the mind games.
To do mind games is not my job. I am not able to do this. I prefer to stay focused with my players. I have a lot of things to think about because we have to prepare well the game, tactically, technically and physically, and this is our aim this week. I don’t stay too much about the other things. I don’t think this is important. What is important is to have a good feeling with the players this week to control the pressure and to maintain a good atmosphere in the squad. We have to have pressure but not too much. We have to believe that we are able to win against Liverpool on Sunday.
Actually, I’d have loved if he did play mind games. If I were him I’d have said this:
We are at an important stage at this season. History is going to be written in a few days. If Man Utd win the league they would create history and become the English club with most number of titles by winning their 19th title. And, it could be none other than Liverpool who could allow their own record to be broken. This won’t happen in Italy or Spain. If Chelsea wins the title, this would mark an end to the domination that Man Utd have had on the premier league in recent times. I wonder which of these scenarios would the die-hard Liverpool fan would love to experience. My message to the faithful Kops: ‘we will not let your great record be broken because you deserve to hold on to it. We’ll retain your honour kops, we’ll beat the Mancs for the title, for you’
Quite dramatic, isn’t it?
I can’t wait for tomorrow’s match. I truly think that the result of the match would be directly related to the desire of the players. That’s precisely why I predict a Chelsea win. We have only one thing on our minds – win. Whereas Liverpool might want to win but a draw is not a bad result while a defeat is not disastrous. They might lack focus because they could fine with anything – win, draw or lose. Consider this: no Torres, no Skrtel, no Insua, no Aurelio while Ashley Cole is back and John Terry is back for Chelsea. Almost everything – the players’ availability, the players’ quality and ability, managers’ quality and ability, form and morale – everything is in favour of Chelsea. If there is only one thing that’s in favour of Liverpool it is Anfield.
The last time we won at Anfield was in Oct 2005. That was a week after Rafa proclaimed that they have the measure of Chelsea and that Chelsea are afraid of Liverpool. Chelsea beat Liverpool 4-1, at Anfield. One of the best away wins that I had the privilege to witness. Let’s do it again. Let’s beat Liverpool and see Man Utd bottle it against the mighty Sunderland. The moment for the final push has arrived. Let’s make it a blue day!

This is chelsea fan i wan let chelsea bit liverpool 2-0
lol i like the mind games
Very well said..COMPLETELY agreed with the arguments..
C’mon Chelsea…Blues is the COLOUR !!!!
lolz… .. the mindgames were awesome BC…. reminds me of the Older people in my community(south indian tambrahms) bitchin and talkin about the other people in them community.. hehe.. neway.. i do hope we win at anfield… the only other (arguable) top four team… against which we are yet to do the double…this season… Go chelsea.. KTBFFH..
One of your very best BC, excellent preview.
For some reason I had got it into my mind manure were to play today. But to my pleasant surprise I see they have to play after our game. Now less than 25 hrs away, I’m so nervous and still if our boys show up from the very first second of the game, then I’m kinda more calm. Because then we can beat anyone. I want to see the desire to fight and win radiate from our players from every pore of their body and mind.
If they cannot produce that desire then I guess they just don’t want the EPL title badly enough. Players like Ballack and Deco need to show why Chelsea have put their trust in them for so long, and they need to realise this might be their last chance to win some silverware. Lampard, Malouda, Drogba and hopefully Terry and Cech will I’m sure be at their very best. Anelka will produce the very best of what he showed us in January. Ivanovic and Alex will be solid pillars in our defence and one of them might even score a goal. Ivanovic knows how to against Liverpool and Alex might just have one last rocket left in his boots for this season. Ashley will run riots down the left flank.
So, Carlo it’s all up to you. Set the players minds up for it and we might even have the trophy in our hands before 6pm tomorrow, pending a shock result from the Stadium of Light. (Steve Bruce’s side have lost just one of their last 17 Premier League matches at the Stadium of Light.)
Hope to see as many as possible of you at BC Shout tomorrow. KTBFFH
Almighty GOD make chelsea fans happy tomorrow.
All yee football fans let me use this medium to tell you fine people that the ever merciful, loving, caring, powerful, great GOD has been great in my life, pls fear and obey him, you will have the course to be ever thankful and grateful to him.
Oh mighty GOD thank you for loving me, may the world acknowledge that.
@Marcus Nwosu, I understand your passion, but could we please keep religion out of this. I find it very offensive. I’m sure there are lots of forums out there for religion. Let’s keep this a football forum.
hey all… hope to see all of ya during the game..on BC shout….. :)
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
If Chelsea convert more of their chances than Liverpool and the referee doesn’t F us in the A then we will win this double fo sho.
Yup chelsea will do it against an uninspired pool…
going forward into the next season I keep hearing about all these names likes aguerro, pato, dzeko, robery, maria etc being linked to chelsea….
we dunt need these overpriced and overrated players…
My suggestionns:
Get rid of mikel……for his position buy huddlestone….
get rid of kalou…….buy either milner or ashley from villa (preferably milner)
if joe cole leaves lennon would be apt for his position….
it is likely that carvalho will leave this summer…..I would be sad to see him go as he has been exceptional for chelsea….but we have to move on….for his position buy cahill…..
SCREW ALL THESE TALKS AND RUMOURS ABOUT CHASING THESE EUROPE STARS……..
LETS GO ENGLISH.

hey afro…. dude…for starters i agree with you for your passion to go english… hell we got a similar problem hee in IPL with only 4 players to be from overseas countries in a match… after its the ENGLISH premier league.. it deserves more english players.. but let me tell you afro… Chelsea.. in spite of having an amazing European flair… its spine/backbone is made of some incredible english players…. i think barring aston villa or tottenham.. i can say tht chelsea has the maximum no. of international team starters… in any case… as transfer targets.. I would love to see Lennon rather than young…as we seriously need some some attacking flair on the right… Mikel is fine … in fact more than just fine…. he has his moments when he goofs up… but all in all he is a good holding midfielder… .. Now.. MILNER… i m a HUGE fan of this guy…. i see him as the next Frank Lampard …. coz lets face it… by the season 2013-14… we arent goin to see lampsy in da same vein as of now… He is not superman… (studies are being carried out to prove this… somewhere)…he he…. all in all i think we barrin a few.. we have all the english players we need .. for NOW… however.. focus should be on Getting/Retaining those players that are less injury prone and can be consistent over some 60 odd games in the season…. :)
I know the blues will be singing with me all the way- 90minutes plus- no doubt. Carlo is right, Im sure he’s mastered his numbers…….n blue is taking whats in there
We’ve got to win! Will have 2 treat it as a cup final. Got lots of confidence on our players. We have won 5/5 of our Big four fixtures this season, got a feelin we’ll make it 6/6. My Predictions: Liv 1- Che 2, & Sun 2- Man U 2 :D KTBFFH!!!
I have a good feeling about this one. Of all the games that we did not win this season, none of them were against teams whose primary colors are mainly red:
PL: everton, villa, wigan, tottenham, birmingham, west ham, blackburn, city, hull
carling cup : blackburn
champions league: atletico, apoel, inter
our record against such teams this season:
liverpool : 2-0
united: 1-0 and 1-2
arse: 2-0 and 0-3
We may not have scored against Liverpoo in the PL in ages, but the main men responsible for our demise last season (Alonso, for scoring at SB and getting Lamps sent off at Anfield; and Torres, for scoring a brace at Anfield) will not be playing. Meanwhile Alex, DD, Lamps and Branners who scored against them last season will be.
Let’s paint Anfield blue today. We have nothing against Liverpoo but we want our 4th title because its what the players dream of every day; unlike United, who are looking at the title as just an obsession.
That match will predict who trophy belongs, but we the chelsea fans knows that league is our merit becuase God has spoken that 2009/2010 league is for chelsea fc. BLUES FOR LIFE…

The Countdown Begins…and its a Massiveone….

it’ll be unacceptable if Chelsea do not beat Wigan at home…..
maybe I could die if we get a draw or beaten next week….
BlueChampion, don’t worry. We support you. Chelsea will be the English Premier League Champions for this 2009/2010 season. And also come May 15, they will pick up another trophy ~ FA Cup. Any genuine football fan who has been watching EPL this season can tell you that Chelsea deserve to be champions. A message to Chelsea and neutral fans. Just ignore those comments from Man Utd fans. They are typically arrogant and forever look down on other teams. I am amazed at how sheer blind faith, stubbornness and refusal to admit defeat can override MU fans’ logic and common sense. Other than a pathetic Carling Cup, they have nothing to gloat. Bayern Munich knocked Man Utd out from the Champions League because the Red Devils were so full of themselves and they paid the price for it. I for one am very very happy to see Man Utd finally fall from grace. They were gagging for it, they got it and now we shall celebrate. On May 9, we shall celebrate the victory of the new worthy EPL champion Chelsea and FA Cup winner Chelsea on May 15.
Nothin much, just that we need to beat wigan up to 4 because we are at home, and dey deserve to die
