The Bridge Too Near . . .
I’m all set. Tomorrow, I’ll be there at the West Upper at Stamford Bridge to see Chelsea extend their lead at the top. To say that incredibly excited would be an understatement. I’d be going with a couple of buddies one of which thought I was supporting a team called Jersey until I clarified to him that it’s Chelsea.
London’s very cold this week. The temperature is in the region of about 6 degree celsius. It’s clear that my protective clothing will do no good in the Stamford Bridge stance at 8pm in the evening. I’ll leave office early and would pick up a cheap but decent coat that need to keep me alive to write my experiences at the Bridge.
I’d also get my dark away jersey tomorrow. I’ve already seen a few wearing that. It looks great. I’d get a few memorabilia stuff too. There’s this miniature of Stamford Bridge that I’ve got my eye on. Not sure if I’d buy it in this trip. It’s expensive and can be a challenge to carry. Let’s see.
I’m planning to get there very early so (i) I just don’t allow myself to be late, even if the sky falls down (ii) I can let the excitement build up and enjoy ‘being there’ (iii) I can watch the pre-match warm up and such stuff. I’m really confident that we would win tomorrow.
The weekend was just perfect. We beat Aston Villa 3-0 with three very good goals while Man Utd dropped points against Blackburn. Nothing’s over yet but certainly Man Utd are falling apart. They have a very good team and a great manager but the disappointment of the last couple of weeks would certainly be a setback for them in the title race.
Hoping for a big win for Chelsea tomorrow. Hopefully it’s a 4-0 or 5-0 with a hattrick from Malouda. I’d love that.
i want to see too a big win tomorrow with authority and 4 points ahead .. Hey bc, can you put in some post a few photos if you can take in your visit to stamford bridge.?
Make sure you are in the queue for West Stand by 7.15-7.20 as most of the people come closer to kickoff for evening games(most rushing back from work or after having a pint or two). As West Brompton cemetery is closed in the evenings, so majority of people take the tube from Earls Court to Fulham Broadway. You can walk if you have time on your hand; it would take around 20 mins or so. It’s cold here but not so bad though a jacket would be helpful. Enjoy the views from the West Upper but I would imagine you won’t have any singing going around you. It’s generally pretty dull there. Shed and MHL are lively; I will be in the latter.
Cmon chelsea win the double!
this season can be considered successful if we win the doubles.then during the transfer season, chelsea gotta make gd buys…getting more young stars like aguero and di maria…then we will win CL
Dear BC,
I get excitement shivers as i read your article! It is my top dream to watch a live match at the Bridge, i hope it will come true one day. Enjoy and have lots of fun at the place where your heart lies! Chelsea will win and we here at the BC wait for a grandeur article and photos from you from the Bridge!
Hi BC,
Its good to know you’ll be watching the blues at home. You have been my inspiration and an idol chelsea supporter. Hope you have fun and we do the double this season.
KTBFFH!!!
Now that Manchester United has slipped up – I believe the double is on. Let’s just hope and pray that this bunch of talented lads can keep there head on the ground and put a clinical end to this season. Sir Alex Ferguson is starting to get desperate by playing his mind games because he knows, just how important this match is towards us winning the league. I’m not saying that if we win this match then we’ll win the league, but this is an important match in order to put some daylight between us and the champions. cheers!
There’s been rumours in the media that Carlo Anceloti might take over as the italian national manager if Chelsesa fail to win the league and Mr. Abromovich throws his toys out of the cot. cheers!

no need of such rumour hopefully we will win the league there is no better chance than this
I heard a rumor that Carlo Ancelotti is in favour to take over Perak FC of Malaysia as it is his lifetime dream to work in Malaysia. Rumor has it that he will even chip in his own fortune to bear 50% cost of each purchased players. The unexpected move was trigger by Carlo’s uncontrollable addiction towards Malaysian food, namely “The Satay”.
I heard this from my neighbor’s sister’s boss’s cousin’s aunt’s daughter’s classmate’s mother’s brother’s colleague’s son’s girlfriend’s grandma’s gardener’s son-in-law’s mistress’s step-sister’s boyfriend’s grandfather whom recently befriended an arc-angel named Michael, who claims that he knows
Mr. Roman Abramovich so well that they share the same toothbrush daily. Unfortunately I don’t believe in angels.
….and I’ve heard that Roman in fact is an alien teleported to earth to save football from newspaper gossip
I want to see a lot of pictures dude !1 at least 10 pictures…for those like me who can only see CHELSEA WHEN THEY PLAY IN AMERICA !!!!
Picturesssssssss !!
thanks !

@ Gypsyblue
I enjoyed that. cheers!
A grind of a game. Tottenham will probably lose tomorrow although they have a squad more than capable of beating Arsenal. Man Utd could be third after the round on the weekend. It is imperative that we take all 3 point from Tottenham. Liverpool are a real boogey team and I think if there is anyone in this league left to cause an upset, it will be Torres and Gerrard.
Anyway, lets just savour the moment. I really wish I had made bets on this season
Is Ivanovic recovered yet? He’s been on the bench last few games
Now that Liverpool fc are looking as if they’re not going to finsh in the top four. And according to the rumours that Rafa Benitez is going to be out of a job at the club to manage Juventus of all teams. It would be best for us to go and try to buy Fernando Torres as he is a very good player and is hungry for success and maybe we can get Stevie G on the cheap. cheers!
…..why there is always controversial things in every Chelsea games now….I’m getting feel sick of it….
yes I’m agree that it is not Chelsea’s faults…it is the ref…the winding up works by the opponent and press..
..let me say…f**k ref…just give that handball, penalty, or maybe red card …..we don’t need your help though….you’ve made Chelsea looks bad….
…I believe even Chelsea got penalty or red card….we could possibly scored 2/3 more goals now….
…I do love stand behind Ancelotti about the ref decisions…that’s not Chelsea’s job….
but…gosh…..f**k it..come on Chelsea…..we must batter our next opponent by 3/4 goals margin….
@ TruePlatinum
It’s still to early to suggest that you could have bet on Chelsesa to win the league this season. I see you’re already popping the champaign. No Ivanovic is still injured – or atleast his 70 to 80 percent alright. cheers !
Thank you Spurs especially to Gomez.
spurs 1st victory in 11 years over ass-anal. what a good month of April for chelsea. Congrats spurs and chelsea. now you get your beating on saturday.
You say that Michael, but betting before the season starts would be worth more money overall. I said in one of the first blogs this season, I’d almost be willing to bet my house on Chelsea lifting the title. Now several months down the line, with 4 games left to go and a 4 point lead, they look like the ones to do it.
I like Spurs, but I’ll go on to explain something.
I don’t like Arsenal, however, I think their loss tonight will have a positive impact on Man Utd, therefore, not a great one for us. Had Arsenal moved to 2nd, it would of been so demoralising for Man Utd that Man City and Tottenham would both shave points from them. Now that Arsenal are staying 3rd, I see it as a kind of relief for Fergie and it lifts the players slightly. I still don’t think they can pull off a win at Eastlands, but they will be better than I anticipate.
The Bolton game was a scrape. No two ways about it, 1 -0 against a lower table team is not a comforting result. We had a grind with Villa and now another scrape. I do accept the team selected was not of the sharpest players, but with the chances we had, 2-0 is the minimum we should of had.
It also means we are going to White Hart Lane with Spurs having beaten Arsenal, morale will be high and they will not give us a pleasant time. I’m actually fairly worried, we don’t want to be dropping points now. We need to be in the best position possible for our “black cat” opponents, Liverpool and Wigan. Those two fixtures could well lose us the title.
KTBFFH!
Good News!!!!! Home shirt 2010/2011 was launched today!!!!!!!!!! beautyfull
Here are the pictures of the NEW KIT 2010-11

replying@julio: Nice cut on the kit, but the red collar is abit too striking, but nevertheless, I’ll still queue up to get it. Blue is always the colour!
Great win by Spurs. Of all the remaining fixtures, I always regard Spurs as our main banana skin. Not that I don’t value Liverpool but I’ll take Liverpool over Spurs anyday given the form and passion of play. Didier will need to up his tally by at least a goal this weekend if he were to have a shot at the golden boot.
Our team is in great shape and I’ll be looking forward for the return of Essien and Ashley before the final 2 matches. They deserve to end the season on the pitch.
Titles are not won by statistics or mathematics, it is won through sweat and blood. So lets get our there and fight for every single point remaining. KTBFFH!
I like the new kit as well…..the red collar is for The Pensioners, CFC says!
About tots and arse-anal, i am happy that arse lost because they have easier games ahead, so it is good that they have drop 3 points. On the flip-side, i think tots will run high on this win and would be confident against us, but we all know the world of difference that exists between Chelsea and arse!
The only thing that i am worried about the remaining matches is that Kalou must not start, he does best coming off the bench, i wish Ancellotti knows this! Against Bolton, he proved it by the chances he failed to take!
My first 11 for this Saturday:
Malouda……………..Drogba……………..Joey
…………..Lampard……………….Deco………..
……………………………Mikel…………………….
Zhirkov……Terry………Alex………Ferreira
………………………..Cech…………………………
Subs: Hilario, Aanholt, Bruma, Ballack, Belletti, Kalou, Nico
5 star note: Zhirkov deserves the standing ovation for his heroics and for his brilliant overlapping runs!
WOW…the lovely old them is back!

Win against Tottenham and win the title ..

What do you guys make of Chelsea’s players in comparison with their bid to conquer Europe and the league. We’ve had now about seven years to buy players and I was just wondering what you guys make of our squad. In comparison with Manchester United and Barcelona etc. cheers!
@ TruePlatinum
Well you’ve told us that you’re a betting man. Who would you bet on winning the player of the season: (1) Carlos Tevez (2) Wayne Rooney (3) Didier Drogba (4) Francesc Fabrigas. cheers!
Wayne Rooney will win the PFA hands down due to his English nationality and his importance in a below average team performance this season. As much as we all love to see Didier getting it, I don’t think he will garnish much vote due to his previous history. The funny thing is that not all Chelsea fan would vote Didier as our Player of the Season. I know my vote goes to Malouda for his consistency followed closely by Ivanovic (pity that he is injured and could not finish the season on a high). I’m not too keen on individual awards at the moment, not when the title is not won yet. If Man Utd lose or draw comes Saturday, then I think a point from WHL will not be a disaster. Of course, I still have confident in us winning 2-1 but as said by Karma, Kalou should not start with Malouda, Deco and Joe Cole restored. I would start Anelka ahead of Didier for this game as Nico offers more ground options and high ball to Didier will not be as effective with King’s presence, but I’m not Carlo so we will have to wait and see. I’m slightly worried about Paulo Ferreira’s pace vs the likes of Defoe, Bale and Modric. Its quite ironic that if Man City wins, Man Utd hope will be further reduces to dust but the scenario will also push Spurs to stay close to 4th. Got a strong feeling that our title will be won at Anfield. What a lovely scene it will be. BITC!!!!
Remember Carlo said some time ago that 86 pt would clinch the EPL. 3 more wins and we will have 86 points. Manure can max get 85 pts and arseanal 83 pts even if they both win their remaining 4 games. Carlo will become “Carlo the Oracle”.
The way Citeh currently are playing, then I’m sure they will trash manure on Saturday. Arseanal have been depleted of all self-confidens by the defeat to Spurs yesterday and they have a dreary trip to Wigan on Sunday. They might very well lose or at most draw. Even van Persie have thrown the towel in the ring and given the title to Chelsea.
So if we do ours then I’m sure the others we fuck it up for themselves.
By the way I hope this Icelandic volcano cloud soon disappears as I’m flying to London to see us beat Spurs at White Hart Lane. At present the entire airspace in northern Europe is shot down.
yea cmon chelsea show arsenal the way to beating spurs!we can beat anyteam:)
I like the kit but I think the red is in the wrong place and is so minimal it looks like a mistake or a paint spill, no red elsewhere in the kit makes it too eye catching for me
But then again, out of all our kits this season, I don’t truly like any of them, least of all the home kit
Well Michael
First point europe and league. I think our team is full of players who jumped on what they felt to be “a club on the up” or “a chance at success”. Almost every player at Chelsea has yet to win the Champions League, it is a possibilty that our attention being pushed onto this so much in the past, with all our scandal involved, made it difficult for Chelsea to gain that extra edge they needed to lift the premiership as well. Players like Ballack for example, will stay at Chelsea in the hope of getting a hand on the champions league trophy, that is the reason he came. I think for a long time, players have just been looking for the big trophies and when Mourinho left, the lack of discipline set in over time and now Ancellotti can continue to remedy it as Hiddink did. It is a trophy we can win, but the squad needs that extra umph to cater for the decline of players with every failed campaign. There are few players that can say they are playing better than before, Drogba, Ivanovic, A.Cole and Malouda. Everywhere else in the pitch is raising more and more irratic displays it seems and is a problem that means addressing. What is the point of Malouda to score 10 goals a season if Lampard only makes 10 instead of 20 (example). End of the last season is the first that we managed to add to the squad as opposed to chop it somewhat. I think the momentum of Ancelotti was always in the league as he said. I posted in an earlier blog, true winners in the Champions league, rule their domestic ones. We haven’t held the title enough times to have that mental calibre of hollding that trophy, it is something that is to be put in the history books and some Chelsea players might not be in the squad that does it.
As I see it, Tevez is destined to get the golden boot, Drogba has not put away enough and the games we have left are unlikely to be riots. Tevez might not have slayed giants, but he is squeezing everything from the smaller clubs. Goals alone are not enough to win PFA though. My heart says Drogba, scoring rate is the greatest, his goals are more diverse, he is also bringing in alot of assists. My head is quite sure it is going to Wayne Rooney though. The thing about this award, is players tend to argue that the greatest players make players around him play better. You can’t argue, on the back of Man Utd’s disastrous run without him, that Rooney does not make every United player look better. I’d happily write of Fabregas…..as I wrote this, a skysports advert came on and Rooney was declared odds favourite.
Hey BC,
Are you still in London? how long would you be here? will you be watching any other games? we could all( if there are any other Chelsea fans from India on vacation/break/work assignment/visiting in-laws/meeting online gf/bf ;)!!!) what do you say we all hook up?????? after the spuds game???? That would be awesome!!!!!!!
Am nervous with the freakin Spuds game, they are in general a pain in the ass, they are generally party poopers & I hate them from the core, loved the time when they were going down under Juande Ramos :)!!
alright..anyone else wanna hook up…holler something on here
take care blues..
yet again how wrong we are another bad perfomance by so called the best what the heck does deco have to do to be dropped does carlo know what he is doing i beg to differ
