It’s gotta be John Terry right? Isn’t that why you love football! John Terry was the toast of every newspaper in the country for a couple of days. There are lot of articles and suggestions that he shouldn’t captain the England team. These are not easy times to play a football match. And to play an away match in a stadium like Turf Moor, especially you’e being booed for every touch, it’s definitely not easy. I must say I loved Terry’s response to bits. I was hoping that he scores and does that ‘finger on lips’ celebration. He did nothing of that sort. In fact, he didn’t do a proper celebration of the goal. He was visibly very angry, probably at the way things are going for him, off the pitch. He wasn’t even in the mood to smile. But he responded as emphatically as possible.
So Terry’s England captaincy is in doubt? Because he was allegedly going around with an ex-team mate’s girlfriend? No wonder England’s won zilch for 200 years. Why would his captaincy even become a point of discussion because of this? You have the whole media ganging up against him and you have people like these stupid Burnley fans booing him. Why would the media and people put so much pressure on England players and coaches and surprised to see them underperform. Probably when this section of media and general public stop being complete idiots, England would start doing better. When Tiger Woods was going through his, I had the same stance. That’s his personal life. Still he is one of the best golfers ever to play the game and let’s respect him for that. It’s not like Terry was the only man to have an extra-marital affairs in the whole of United Kingdom. There was a president who did @#$%^ in his office premises and stayed on to save the world. And John Terry can’t be the captain of England?
Now I don’t know it takes to be England captain. Does it have to be the Pope or Jesus Christ? See, he’s the best guy to captain England for this world cup. Anyone else is a compromise. I’m sure Capello knows that. John Terry is a huge personality and a superb captain and he just proved that today too. Today is the perfect day for John Terry to do what Alex did and let in a poor goal. Instead he comes in and bangs the winner in the closing stages in an away match. If Terry’s captaincy is taken away for this revelation, I’m going to be so upset that I’ll go around shooting innocent people on the road.
When Burnley equalised, I must say I had butterflies in my stomach. I started to evaluating the possible scenarios that could come up after the Arsenal vs Man Utd match. Chelsea’s response to Burnley’s goal was pretty strong. It was clear that the goal was coming. But until Terry scored the winner, I was a bit paranoid. Turf Moor was a place were both Man Utd and Arsenal had dropped points earlier this season. I thought Ancelotti made all the right moves in his substitutions. Except for the goal conceded, I don’t think Petr Cech was made to work too much. This was a tough away match and the significance of this result you’ll know tomorrow night.
I hope I’m not alone in this observation – our attacks are becoming quicker by the day. I’ve been observing this for some time but I wanted to confirm that there’s a clear trend in this direction. We seem to have a gained a yard of pace in all departments on the pitch. It is either because of the attacking intent or the tactics or even the fitness. It was more evident against Sunderland and Birmingham, it was in display even today. May be it is because we have Malouda and Joe Cole starting for us and both these players move quickly into positions and also constantly making runs. Our attacks being slow have cost us against lesser teams that pack their defence. Today we saw how a quick counterattack opened Burnley’s defence. It was a superb throw from Cech but I thought Joe Cole’s cross would be cleared. When Malouda clipped it in nicely, I knew Anelka wouldn’t miss those.
Also, since Ancelotti came in, I see a lot of both feet passing by the players. We are slowing improving our weak foot passing. Again, this is something that’s looks so obvious to me but you can confirm this for me. If you happen to see the replay of the match, just notice how many times and how well passes are being made with the weaker foot of the players. I think both the frequency and accuracy as increased. This has also contributed to the quickness and unpredictability of our attacks.
Overall, it was a great football weekend. It can certainly get better. I think I’d happily take a draw in the Arsenal vs Man Utd match tomorrow. But it’s clear that Man Utd is going to win especially when a straight-from-league-two defender faces in-form Wayne Rooney. On a serious not, I just want both Man Utd and Arsenal to lose while Rooney, Fletcher, Arshavin and Fabregas get sent off due to a classless brawl over the red cards for Vermaelen and Rio Ferdinand. I know you’re tired of me saying this, but I can’t help it. That’s truly what I want.

you aren’t alone bc
i noticed in some of our early games, we were moving the ball about faster which is something we never did before, but with our passing ability, why shouldn’t we?
Personally, I think the affair stuff is rubbish and even if it turned out to be true, the only person with a right to say anything is Mrs. Terry.
2-1 seems abit of a scrape but i’ll happily take the 3 points.
That clarifies that we are the best team this season.
As for tomorrow, a draw between man utd and arsenal is the best result as it means neither of them can gain ground on us
A draw between Arsenal and Man United, plus a win over Hull (who happen to have the league’s worst goal difference) would give Chelsea a 6 point advantage. =)
yes BC…I’m agree with u too…
Chelsea passes is really good and faster with pace….
after 1-1 score..Chelsea looked good to find the winner…look Ivanovic who’s down the right flank 2-3 times with the good footwork..also Sturridge give the affect…
about JT…..one word…professional…..
yeah his private life is disgusting …..but every man have a crap happenned in life…
THE Legend….,
he is a human,human will make error…,
its amazing to see perform great yestrday….,composed and assurd, even saw trying some tricks…,
during the game i told my mate that he ll score the winner…,wasnt i right?
ya…, i m with same opinion..,we have got much more pace than last year and the start of the season..,its nice to see that.., the first goal was a gr8 example of that.
i like iva.., he s like a rock,,,.when its look like iva is second favourite for winning the ball on one one…,suddenly..,he gets there and take controll of the ball with easy…,,amazing guy..,solid than rock,,,
This was one of those matches where end result means, not how it is achieved….even though no one can say that we scraped it as we were dominant…for some time now we are playing really good, fast passing football on ground…Sunderland’s 7-2 demolition was ‘Barcelonaesque’ in terms of passing and moves….most heartening yesterday was the first goal…this is what we were really missing, being lethal in counter…it has been our weak point for last few seasons…too many points we dropped(and hence titles) in last moments just becasue even lesser oppositions would come forward as they didn’t fear our counter attacks…I think Lotti has worked on it….and it is here that I think someone like Auguero can improve us tremendously…players like him really instill fear in opposition’s heart as they can cover pitch in a blink, and add his ball skills to it and he becomes a mouth watering prospect, particualarly for a team like us who is not known much for counters….
BTW,I was watching Bayern vs Mainz yesterday….boy,do we miss Robben…he was just toying with opposition defense….I just can’t get over Chelsea letting him go…he was my favourite Chelsea player…
and for today’s match,I pray for Arsenal win because I think ManU is our only title threat…Arsenal is ‘DESIGNED’ to drop points here and there…
i’m not so sure that we miss robben, malouda is already a super player. not the same type but does the job effectively in the left midfield position. we have drogba coming back and that gives us a dimension. we dont lack anything at the moment and not many teams can say that. however, i’d still like to sign up aguero because i think joe cole; as good as he is- can be painfully inconsistent and so can malouda, i think aguero gives us the option on the wing and upfront behind drogba/anelka.
3 points in the bag…thats all i care for….lets go blues…nice write up BC
i have to agree with bluesalltheway
i was wtching the bayern-mainz match and robben was just toying with the defence…..
we had a difficult game and its not easy to come on to turf moor and score the goals…..
ive been an avid reader of BC for quite a few years now and i guess its about time that i start analysing matches
to be fair i did take time in learning how the team plays…..
the negatives:
alex had a howler but he did fine otherwise….
ballack looked uncomfortable in the holding midfield role and when deco came on he was given more freedom and all those classy passes came back naturally
zhirkov had a not so great game mainly because he was playing centrally..i mean how can you play zhirkov on the left when you have a.cole and an in form malouda bombarding the opponents
the positives:
lampard: now most of you may say tht he had an off game….hell i agree with yoiu…but i put him on the positives because he showed his intent for goal……now im not the greatest lampard fan….he can only play in the 4-3-3 …..thts my theory
he struggles to get forward in the diamond..and the 4-3-3 helps him get more space…….now if can adapt a bit more to the diamond and find a way to get more space down the middle he’ll do just fine……..
anelka,malouda,joey:they had a great game……nuff said…..
deco:jesus…….where was this guy.i mean he’s lookin great in the pirlo role.he’s distributing the ball..he’s putting in tackles and he’s not diving anymore…….i dint miss essien at all ….in fact i thought he looked better than when essien was playing due to his passing…essien’s got the physicality and id like him to fight with ballack for the right sided midfield role..play deco in the holding playmaking role….he’s doing fine…..
oh and the drog’s back for the hull city game…….hope he scores 4 or 5 to take over shrek(rooney) on the scoring charts….
oooooh
i forgot to mention our beloved captain
John Terry: leave him alone………it’s his personal life
he had a great game..he knew what he was doing when he got the yellow……i dont think many defenders would risk making a tackle like that
and he scored a goal……..let him be…he’s doing just fine…….
Yea even i wish Arse-anals would win today, coz like you said BC, Arse-anal are a team built in with “self-destruction” button, and the good thing is this button is very reachable to other teams and Arsenal itself. They even press it themselves accidently.
As for JT, we are behind you and your family. Shit happens, and its better to move on. But we do sincerely hope it will not be repeated again.
Hey, what are we still doing here! we need to save JT. The match is secondary now.
i think the PRESS are hell-bent and ready to finish him and it really baffles me why. one reason i can say is to make a huge sum of money but must it be at the expense of JT. there a lot of immoralities in this world, they should go and report those- i known they will say it not worth it for them. they would want him to go under like tiger woods, but JT is more than that. even if the story is true, they have reported it and that should be it and not recriminating him and asking for severe punishment.
i know JT is a strong man but the momentum is gathering so much. good enough Carlo and Chelsea are behind him. Fabio and the FA needs to show their support.
wishing him all the best.
I hope terrys wife forgive Terry,Because a divorce matter will destroy John spirit.
Hope for arsenal win today.
Goal.com put it well – “JT scores away from Bridge”.
I really don’t agree with BC on his comments on Terry. I had huge respect for Terry as a person, as a leader. These allegations has left me disappointed, more so after Terry pleaded guilty.
Extra-marital affair with a very good friend’s GF is bit difficult to digest. It is like stabbing from behind, which are not best qualities of a Leader. This would have really affected other co-players, especially lampard, who is another very good friend of Terry. Human beings has a gr8 quality in forgetting things and hopefully we will all forget this ugly chapter in Terry’s life and START LOVING HIM AGAIN….HOPEFULLY !!
Blue4Life put it well, what JT did was stabbing a friend behind the back. I think his captaincy should only be questioned if Bridge is included in the WC squad. If he’s not in the squad, I think any doubts of JT’s captaincy should be dropped. However, like Blue4Life mentioned, there are other people on the England squad that are good friends with Bridge, and they will likely be affected in some way. But this is football, and if they are serious enough about performing well this summer, they need to put JT’s off-field drama behind them and just play some eff’in football.
With regards to Chelsea’s performance, I think they played just okay. Too much long ball and only looked like a good team after Burnley equalized. They must step it up a notch for the rest of the season, b/c ManUre are starting to look good (as we all should have expected at this time of the campaign). If ManUre play the way they’re playing against Arsenal (3-0 as I’m writing this) for the rest of the season, we’re going to be in trouble.
oh no arsenal are losing again to manu manu are breathing our neck we must now win both agaist hull and arsenal
Well, JT is the EPL’s Tiger Woods at the moment and hopefully it won’t affect Chelsea’s performance of the field and it has not. It has not and should not !
But I do not condone such behaviour !
But easier said than done. I guess it’s not easy being young, famous, rich and virile. Broads throwing themselves at you, the hormone levels reaching the sky after what they feed you at the club and being surrounded by men most of the time
( yeah ur mates but it’s like you are forever at a boy’s only school … ) …. the wife preggie, then tired with looking after the kids…. internet porn becomes boring…. going out for the commercial variety of comfort and release also seemingly mechanical and HIV risky…..
JFK… Becks ….Mao Tse Tung…..Clinton…Breznev…… Mitterand …..even the Special One …. and countless other not so well-known males have been through it…… and it’s getting boring….
Let those who have never been in such a situation or never thought of playing away from home cast the first stone but nevertheless would have been better if JT were a bit less -inclined towards the skirts…. and uses up all the pent-up energy on the training ground and the football field especially against Hull and Arsey next week !
I forgot to add……. I don’t wanna see ManUre play like that against us I wanna see crunching tackles derail Manure’s title effort and I want Chelsea to BITCH SLAP Arsenal next week not just win but BITCH SLAP ‘em….
Hail Drogs, Lamps and Ballack and all the rest of you guys !
If JT wobbles ( which wouldn’t/ couldn’t be unnatural…. given the circumstances ) make up the slack… we know Chelsea can do that !
KTBFFH !
need to be careful of arsenal . last year they were beaten by villa and then came and beat us at bridge..
as many say , arsenal are most unpredictable team and we need to be carefull of a backlash ..

Dear BC,
A correction please: It is not “an ex-team mate’s girlfriend” but ex-team mate’s ex-girlfriend/partner! I just wonder why the thing is made big when there involves two “EXs”! I would blame JT if that lady was still Bridge’s partner! I think it is only Mrs Poole who can have a good point in this fray, forget the EXs!
I agree with you about home fans fans; what has Terry done to them that they had to be wankers and make themselves such a two-pence? I just wonder why on earth did they find any good reason for such an action. But what a sweet surprise, Terry made them melt like an ice on hot oven. And Terry’s decision not to celebrate the goal made the incident even more apt for the home fans! I could smell lots of burnt fleshes at the final whistle! They were burnt and laid (to savour)!
I appreciate your observation on our quicker attacking build-ups and also on players utilising their so called weaker feet to a great impact. Malouda always take 2/3 good shots with his right foot. May be only Ashley needs to practice a bit more! I was hoping for a draw at fly emirates, sth. like 5 each or 10 each but manure were bright, nani had his day! My prediction was 2 apiece. But what the heck, let’s strip the stripes on Tuesday!
And here is my own little observations on a match which i would call a “barbecue” (Our tryst with Burntley)
Firstly, i would disagree a bit with Ancelotti about the first 11. Defenders were spot on, ever Alex over Riccy was good but our thunderous shooter was sloppy and denied another clean sheet to Cech! Why on earth he didn’t clear that ball?!
I think Ancellotti took a big risk by playing both Malouda and Zhirkov together. We all know Lampsy finds himself comfortable at the left side of the midfield and we have Ashley who bombards forward. This means we have 4 great players down the left! And i was very uneasy that over-crowding and misunderstandings would arise. But took little comfort in John Dykes words: “Mears will have tough time”. But i think i was right, there was too little too much of quality and quantity in the left department and i saw it especially in the first 20 minutes that Malouda and Zhirkov came into each other’s way and that Ashley couldn’t maraud forward as much and effective as he would usually love to! But as and when things settled, our sweet lefties delivered quite well! But all the while i was praying that our boss would pull Zhirkov off for Deco, however, it didn’t happen. I would personally love to see Deco especially after his display against Birmingham. I knew Deco would be in in the second half, i was wrong, and not even by the hour mark, but only when Ashley had to be pulled out with a little nagging in his leg did Deco get a chance and things looked much better with Zhirkov on the left back, Malouda on the left flank and Deco at the right.
Ancelotti brings in Sturridge for Joey! Literally, another natural left-footer! But may be our boss saw things during the training sessions! Sturridge is a wonderful worker and it is his determination and effort which fetched the corner converted by our hero! I have always said that Lampard is the best corner kick taker for the very reason of how easily he finds Terry in the box. But i have also supported Malouda, Joey and Ballack because it releases our vice captain and he can take a shot from around the D area should a lose ball come to him. But it is always a compromise while corners are not taken by Lampard! But surprisingly Terry was unmarked this time, i mean he shook his marker off!
One thing, we played fast and accurate football once we conceded the goal, i just love our response!
After few of our friends said that Joey and Malouda play selfishly, i think they were more unselfish this time. And i would give credit to Cech for his brilliance in releasing Joey, and Joey for his clever diagonal ball to Malouda, and Malouda for his art in finding his compatriot Nico, and Nico for his magic! What a team goal, what a sight! But it was Terry’s goal which brought tears to my eyes mainly because he scored it during a hard time, and that he refused to celebrate. My heart went out for him when he huddled his team mates around but couldn’t smile! It was simply a very touching sight! Usually, he would jump and shout and smile fisting the air but he couldn’t do it this time despite the fact that this could be a vital goal for Chelsea in 2009-10! I just love Terry!
Suck English and its football team if they want take captain’s arm band off our peerless Terry! I would never support your team thence because i cannot help but wonder how the wankers fail to see the line between professional and personal lives! I am hopeful Terry will be the captain but even if he is not, i won’t care a bit because it “won’t cost a thing” (love JLo’s bums!) for Chelsea! England will stumble without Terry!
Chelsea is the best, because we have JOHN TERRY as our captain!
One more point:
Referee was pretty good but he should have let us play advantage when we had a very good chance after a foul by Bikey (37th minute)!
to karmaCW : I just loved to see ur analysis mate…..cheers…keep it up….
to karmaCW : I just loved to see ur analysis mate…..cheers…keep it up….
Thank you dear friend, it is uplifting!
Was slopy performance by cfc. itz like a we r not serious in away fixtures… we dont want lose points, manu at our neck.. why carlatto using lots of left midfielders together.?? malouda, zirkoh n a.cole cant play together.. 4-3-3 could be ideal formation for us.. WHERE IZ KAKUTTA?
our present system is good we have drogba back as well 4-3-3 will push anelka to wings
chelsea don’t push as much away which sucks but thats also good because alot of teams this season know that anyone can beat anyone and their best chance is at home, so a win at hull and against arsen*l will set us up for the rest of the season.
i hope drogba plays tomm so that he gets ready for arsenal
Karmacw deserves promotion :D
Ancelotti ahead of Super Sunday : I want Chelsea to batter ‘em….batter ‘em…

By far, this is the month that will define our season – games to Arsenal, Man City, Inter Milan and Everton ( why do we always draw with them ?? ), A Good feb will put us in drivers seat..
In Terry we trust!!!
February, another crucial month for us to keep the RedDevils at bay. We need a strong gap for us to have more selection freedom with Inter’s fixture around the corner. This makes the Hull’s game not only a must-win, but a comfortable win with a cleansheet. The team has somehow evolved itself in January with a few new formation took place even in a single match and it would be interesting to see how Didier’s performance catch up with Anelka’s.
p.s: I love where we are and what we’ve got…. I’m thankful and grateful its ChelseaFC. May the Blue Flag flies HIGHER!!!
CMON LETS WIN OVER ARSENAL!!!! Highlights from this game here: http://www.goals.se/2010/02/02/hull-city-chelsea-fc-1-1/
Its a long one!
