Let’s start with the big news – Chelsea will play FC Internazionale in the first knockout round of the champions league. FC Inter badly wants champions league success. Despite all their intra-league domination, they’ve been consistently underperforming in Europe. Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho, in the first knockout round, he had to play Man Utd last season and Chelsea this season. While Chelsea could be a bad draw for Inter, I don’t think getting past Inter would be such a difficult task. Chelsea have too much quality for Inter to progress. But, as Samuel Eto has said ‘a lot can happen in the next 2 months’. Hopefully, Ancelotti will have his last laugh against Jose. Milan vs Man Utd is also a very good match up. No matter how they play in serie A, Milan cannot be underestimated in champions leaugue. Arsene Wenger says that the tie with Porto could be tough. Oh yes, for you!
In other news, Hiddink seems set to continue with Russia. No technical directorship then. There are very strong rumours that Chelsea would sign Aguero and also that he has explicitly said that the wants to play for Chelsea. I like Kun. I think he can be a great player at Chelsea but I don’t how and where he would fit in. We already have two strikers with whom we play a two-striker formation. I just don’t see this Kun rumour coming true unless we have other plans for Anelka.
Back to premier league. After a disappointing 3-3 draw against Everton, we did come back and managed to win 2-1 against Portsmouth in the mid-week. Around the hour mark of the last game, I was just thinking I have jinxed us with my post on December games. Thankfully, Lamprd put his Man City misery apart to slot the penalty. That win has eased the pressure a little bit. Luckily, we get to play the struggling West Ham at this stage.
Drogba would be back for this game. I think we could see Essien again only in February. Bosingwa is still injured out. Carvalho and Joe Cole are available for selection. As much as possible, I’d keep the Africans out of the playing eleven. While they can be on the bench to bail us out if needed, we should see how we fare with non-Africans. Essien is anyway out. If Carlo does not use Mikel and Drogba, that would pretty much be the team that we will use during January. Oh well, I’m assuming here that we aren’t buying anyone in January.
West Ham’s three consecutive defeats have put them firmly in the drop zone. They badly need a good result. Zola says that they would continue to play attacking football despite their situation. Also, since they are at home, they need to really put on a good show. Matches involving West Ham generally hae plenty of goals in them. May be, from all those points of view, they are a very ideal opponent for Chelsea. At this stage, it is the ’11-men-behind-the-ball-all-we-need-is-a-draw’ kind of teams that would give me goosebumps. I’m happy that we’re playing West Ham. There will be some good football on the pitch and when that happens, we have a greater chance of securing three points.
Here’s expecting a 2-0 win. Hope we don’t concede. Really hoping that we defend our set pieces better. Lampard to score plus a Drogba brace. Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City Man Utd and Tottenham to lose. Chelsea to win! Have a very good weekend folks!

U want 2 win but you dont want other clubs to win.
Let all of them lose, except for Tottenham. Cos they seem to be playing some good football at the moment. Also they are the only team that seem have the capability to knock Arsenal out of the top-four. So lets cheer for the Spurs too this season, except the match against us. Go Chelsea, Go Spurs. Let all the other ties be a boring draw.
good post!
About the CL, i think Arsenal can’t beat Porto. In my opinion Porto is better than Arsenal when it’s CL.
I am not predicting anything about Inter and Chelsea. i hope we will do well!
we must play drogba in all 3 matches . fa cup vs watford is ideal game for life without drog lets win them or take handsome lead in matches before taking him off

West Ham 1-3 Chelsea
i don,t think manu, gunners, or liverpool lost should be our prayers but chelsea winning should continue, because at present we are leading and if it happen we win all the remaining games and forget about MAN.U, GUNNERS OR LIVERPOOL we will still be grown the champions. so let pray for ourselves winning and not losing for other teams.
LOVE U ALL@ CHELSEA.
Yeah I know most of you have heard about this already but have you done your part in the good fight?
It’s only 29p from each of you to make sure the chimps at Simon Cowell’s record label don’t have another X-Factor pop christmas no. 1 and grow fat off it.

Injuries and unavailability of African players during the cup worry me. We’ve almost always played Drogba up front, and without him, I’m not sure Anelka is capable of leading the attacking line. We may be defensively ok (or not, considering the last two weeks and our set piece vulnerability), but the attack needs teeth. Maybe Kun is the answer, I don’t know…..he and Anelka could be a good, fast combo when Drogba is unavailable.
lets focus on our result only by the way pool lost to grant who is unbeaten vs benitez
I fink we can win WestHam with 3 unreply goals. As for my African brothers i tink they should encourage player like Kakuta, Borini, Bruma and Matic more. So wen dey leave 4 d Nations Cup they could hold there own.
A very tough game tomorrow but we must get a win by all means. Forget about West Ham predicament at the moment, they will always play their hearts out against Chelsea and believe me it’s going to be a very tough game. We must target two early goals and defend set pieces well. The good news is that Manure are 1 nill down at half time and i believe they’ll lose this match to Fulham. Go Chelsea!!!
Go Fulham Go!!! It’s 2:0 against manure at the craven cottage. Time is fast running out, poor manure you’ve lost
come on all 3 points tommorow and 6 pts clears ful3 manu 0 wow
hahahhaa fullham 3 manu 0.hahahhahahhaaaa
we must win tomorrow……………….
up we go!!! Fulham 3 Manure 0
And it’s over. Manure have dropped 3 valuable points in the most spectacular fashion. It’s time for Chelsea to extend the lead. Go Chelsea
i dont think roy hodgeson know any formula to beat manu…only formula he knows is to thump them……..

Twas a good night yesterday.
Twill be a better one tonite !
Cheers All Bue !
1-1. I think it was more than fair. West Ham played well, never really allowed us to take control of the game. Drogba was painfully pathetic today, although you can’t expect the guy to play well every game. Thank god Fulham raped United. Lets hope we maintain a good lead over them and that United lose in their coming games.
KTBFFH !!
Some info
For all the Chelsea fans that come here and read I feel I need to let you know that statistically starting today Avram Grant’s stats at his time as Chelsea manager is better than Mr. big name who is your manager these days (damn I forgot his name).
I’ll be more than happy to supply the numbers for anyone who asks.
O_V
I hate to say this but I miss Essien already!
I hate to say this but I miss Essien already! why?
Looks like someone can get their stats from goal.com
Actually, in the second half it was a great game. West Ham played like demons !
Anyways its a different course than usual years and enjoyable too.
I actually enjoyed last night’s game even though we didn’t get the full 3 points. Maybe we didn’t even deserve the 1 point gotten.
one more chance lost to widen the gap….can anyone tell me why do we persist with Ballack….he has lost his legs long back, he can’t pass, and then he concedes freekicks just outside penalty box which costs us lots of goals..one thing which any Chelsea manager must never forget is that with an aging squad like us we should never start with Ballack(as Carvalho and Lampard are also on upper side of 30) against teams which are young and full of pace like ManC or a team like West Ham which are determined to perform…. it makes both our defense and midfield slow….Lampard always start so Ballack must not start, particularly in such games…
we must must get a creative player for tip of our midfield…Joe Cole is either injured and rest of the time he spends to regain his best form….Auguero will definitely do a lot of value addition to our squad…we certainly need him…we need 2-3 players who know how to counter attack…we should had already taken a lead of 12-14 points…Wigan match was there to be won..Villa defeat is acceptable….ManC match was worth a point…Everton and Hammers were also to be won…I am afraid these lost opportunities is going to cost us title…mark my word…

You are right, WHU didn’t really allow us to play our game, but we didn’t even try to play our game either!
Drogba was not so good, but i would blame that to Kalou who was almost non-existent, forget assisting or helping his big compatriot brother up front. Kalou is a real shit, i hate this guy as much as i hate deco. These two are totally useless and they are destroying our games whenever they play. I really missed Nico, the way he holds ball and links up with Drogba is a thing of beauty. At present Nico is the best partner for Drogba, may be in the whole of EPL! Sturridge was far better than Kalou.
Joey was awfully worst too, with his blind passes and Sachin’s-sixer like shots! Malouda wasn’t good either. And how can we expect the team to fare well when the wingers don’t help you in any way possible.
I am glad that Carlo rightly substituted Malouda and Kalou at HT. And his decision to throw Zhirkov on for Joey was spot on as well. The Russian did a lot more in 20 minutes than what Joey did in the whole 70 minutes.
Ballack was not so good, very similar to Joey and Malouda with his miss-passes and not being able to hold possession for even few seconds. Mikel was much better than other midfield players! Lampsy was quite good, and i was so frustrated when he was told to take the penalty 3 times, he made it appear so easy and i quite felt that he would score all even if he was asked to take it for umpteen times. I am shocked with such a decision and i think that they didn’t want us to win. I was thinking that they would make us take penalty until Lampard misses it, but luckily our hero was so cool and his body language was awesome!
No comments on the back four but i think Ashley could have avoided conceding a semi-foolish penalty, otherwise he was quite good.
At least i was breathing freely when i saw that we were using our home kit, not that ill-fated 3rd kit! But Cech’s orange kit is not so lucky as well.
Referee wasn’t good, but luckily he wasn’t worst either!
