Arsenal 0-3 Chelsea | Adios, suckers!
Chelsea beating Arsenal is the best possible result on a football pitch. The team you love beating the team you hate, has to be the best thing in football. And when that happens at Emigrants and when the result happens to be 3-0 and when you see the goner fans walking out of the stadium and on their players with 10 minutes to go, has to be some sight. What a match it was! Glad I had the sense to hit the ‘record’ button right at the kick off. Now I can see Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Emigrants as many times as I want.
If you’ve watched the match today, you see that’s the difference between contenders and pretenders. Chelsea absolutely murdered Arsenal and just cut them to size and put them in their place. Today’s Chelsea performance was just champions’ stuff. We had the depth in the team, the high quality of players, the incredible focus until the final whistle and more than anything, the maturity and experience. We had a clear penalty turned down and there was an incorrect offside call – both of which could have turned into goals. To beat the goners 5-0 on their patch would have been just heaven. Let’s leave something for the next time.
Chelsea played like they had always knows Arsenal’s next move on the pitch. I’ve always said that Arsenal’s football is very predictable. What matters to them is how well they are able to execute those predictable moves – that depends on how they play and how the opponent plays. Today, Chelsea played with such anticipation and composure, it was really a treat to watch. Still, I don’t think we played at our best. We lost possession many time very uncharacteristically. Our decision making upfront was not very sharp. Still, we had played well enough to beat Arsenal 3-0 at Emigrants (I’m just making the best use of my bragging rights, allright?).
I’m struggling to pick the man of the match. Didier Drogba is the easy choice but there was Ashley Cole, John Terry and Nicolas Anelka too. But purely because he had a role to play in all the goals, it has to be Drogba. The first goal was just beautiful. Ashley Cole beating a man and delivering a deadly cross was lovely enough. Then came Drogba who was the quickest to react, with his top class finish. Drogba had a role to play in the second goal too. When Ashley Cole managed to send another identical cross Gallas and Vermaelan were visibly nervous and badly wanted to keep the ball out of Drogba’s reach. I heard Vermaelan just doesn’t stop scoring. How true!

When the short free kick was awarded, I was sure of two things – Drogba would take it and he would bloody score. Just when Drogba was getting ready to blast it, I clearly knew that he would be going for the farthest point in the far post. Anyone who has watched Drogba’s free kick goals would know that. He does not try curving the ball in and all that. He just blasts it in. I was surprised that Arsenal did not prepare for it. Ah, that’s Chelsea being Chelsea and Arsenal being Arsenal. That’s Drogba’s 9th goal against Arsenal in 11 matches and he has never been on the losing side to Arsenal. They just can’t figure out how to handle him.
On 3rd Dec 2006 (yes, 2006), I wrote this article ‘10 reasons why Arsenal are crap now‘. You’ll see that most of those 10 reasons are still valid, even after three years. Arsenal have not progressed at all. After three full years, it’s great to see that I got it right so early. Either I’m a great visionary or Arsene Wenger is certainly. I think it’s both.
So we have now beaten Liverpool, Man Utd (twice), Tottenham and Arsenal. How’s that for a first-season record! Good job Carletto! We are now 5 points clear of Man Utd and 11 points clear of Arsenal and 13 points clear of Liverpool. We have the best goal difference in Europe probably, at this point of time. Our goal difference of 28 is far superior to any other in the premier league and is way better than the goal difference leaders in other leagues at this stage. The December matches are Man City(A), Everton (H), Portsmouth (H), West Ham (A), Birmingham (A) and Fulham (H). There are 18 points to be played for, before the African Cup of Nations begins. If we can 15 points out of that 18, we will firmly be on top of the table before the Africans leave.
We are a class apart from our rivals. They are all afraid, very afraid. Chelsea are now the unstoppable team, the team to beat, the best team in the league. We have very clearly moved from a state of hope to a state of expectation. We are now expected win the title. The odds are being shortened. The pundits say that it is now Chelsea’s title to lose. I don’t wanna get so cocky but even with extreme humility I have to say this is gonna be our season. Get in there!
superdrogba
it will be fair enough to say that the match did not merit the score however it a banker winner for chelsea as it was men against boys. while at that i feel we gave the ball away too much particularly Mikel and A.cole and we only thanked our stars we are playing arsenal.
happy about the win bt cannot be carried away as i recall our predicament under scolari with almost about a lead of 11 or 12 pts. CA looks different and i hope we go ahead to win the league again.
ps: the post on arse-anal still holds even after 3 years. pity arse fans
We played ok today, we were struggling to keep some possession of the ball but we got our chances and we took them. Arsenal were playing better then us but our defense did a perfect job helping Cech to keep another clean sheet.
Drogba is fantastic, i would like to see his shots/goals % from this hole year, i guess it could probably be the best i Europe…
Mikel had a weak game and got really close to getting a red card in this game.. I really like Mikel and the way he developed last season when Essien was injured.. Then he was a keyplayer in my eyes.. this season he has not come to his right.
Ashley Cole was up and down today, in first half he played great! In second he did fumble a bit and lost the ball to often, but still a candidate for my MOTM.
I often hear it’s great when you’re not notice-ing a referee in a football-game, today i didn’t notice John Terry at all.. that means he did a hell of a job out there and was great, right?
My MOTM, DD aka. the Arsenal-killer.
Over and out.

At no point last season did we enjoy an “11 or 12″ point lead over our rivals. I think we were top of the league on GD (level with Liverpool on points) and ManU were 8 points behind with 2 games in hand at this stage, though im not 100% sure.
We have some breathing space over arsenal and liverpool. Hope by the end of dec, we widen the gap over man u..
For the carling cup, we should rest didier, anelka, lampard, terry, ashley cole, carvalho and essien.. I would like to rest ivanovic also but we will not have good center back.
Hilario, belleti, ivanovic, alex, zhirkov, matic, deco, mikel obi, maluoda, kaluo, sturridge.
ballack, kakuta on the bench
What makes me happy is that we have a lot of room for improvement.Mikel Cole Lampard and Deco were having a mediocre day but we were still great.
It is a week to celebrate, moments to savour, beer to be poured and laughter to resonate !!!
KTBFFH !
chelsea can do much better than last season , but congratulations to our man of the match “drogba
And no DRAW for Mancity fans next week ! Thatz for sure ! Ha ha ha ha aha ! LOL LOL LO !!!!
9 pts out of 9 vs big 4 great i dont remember the last time we won all the games vs big 4 in 1 half of the season
keep it up blues
The ballon d’or list for 2009 has got gerrard and kaka, but no frank. I thought the french football team is the only worst thing, but their journalists too are as worse as hell.
Lampard should be on top 10 list instead of kaka.Chelsea deserve more than one player in top 10.FIFA SUCKS
Stoch is scoring goals and playing fine week in week out. Hope we’ve not forgotten him, he scored at the weekend. He is my man for next season.

Drogba just like malouda last season turned magician and made 50,000 arsenal fans disappear. Great result last night as usual our defence was rock solid and we took our chances something which arsenal didn’t. Although drogba deserved to be man of the match, i thought ashley cole was terrific he put 2 great crosses in and you know what happened next :-). “GALLAS WHAT’S THE SCORE, GALLAS GALLAS WHAT’S THE SCORE”

Get in there, Lampsy!
Hi.BC hope u enjoyed the game yesterday…Keep up the wonderful work,Please are we strenghtening in January cos I don’t see why we asked for a stay of execution from the court of abitration for sports when we new we were not buying….We need to strenghten cos injuries will come next year…We need to wrestle this title from Man U
I drove all night back from Holiday and watched the game early morning with only 45 mins of sleep. Even exhausted the game was enough to recharge me so that I couldn’t get to sleep when it was over. I heard that Arsenal have only been beaten 6 times at home in 3 years and 1/2 of those are from Chelsea. That’s an awesome stat. Good game and like the announcer stated: “Arsenal keeping playing football and Chelsea keep scoring goals”. :)
Awesome match and unstoppable team of the year. Wish Chelsea continue like this forever & loads of winning moments in every match.
Ancelotti got it spot on wit the tactical thing. I have seen the game more then once and just now on Chelsea TV, and to be frankly we were very sloppy wit our passing and we couldn’t hold up the ball. The good thing, we have our swagger, the Chelsea swagger back. that’s awesome. We should have scored at least one but hey, I take a 0-3 away win over ur rivals any day.
the claims that Arsene did after the game is the worst I ever heard. “Drogba didn’t do much” The referee changed the course of the game “it wasn’t men against boys, and if u ask me on Tuesday I will show u all with facts” etc etc.
if there is any sour-loser of the year trophy well AW just won it=)
to the game itself, Joey was poor. I know he still trying to find his feet but damn he was really poor. Mikel upped his game in the second half but just to many clumsy tackles and he takes ages to decide what to do wit the ball. I expect more from lampsy but he is excused cause I was glad he could play after the injury scare.
MOTM goes to our back four. Branny awesome, JT&Ricky awesome, Ashley brilliant.
Drogba? well he just did what he does best against arsenal.
Anelka if he keeps this up he will end up being the most outstanding player in the world!!!
the ars were said to be the highest scoring team and most offensive team in the league, I can only remember one decent shot on goal, and that was early in the first half from Samir Nasri. Cech had a calm day at the office.
and for the suppose disallowed goal. well the ref whistled for high kick, and he was spot on. its funny how Arsene seem to only see what would eventually benefits him. and the claim for Vela penalty, get out of here he was a dive cause he knew he couldn’t do anything else.
props to Lotti for playing the right players and getting the tactics right. plus I love the fact that he doesn’t talk of others or any nonsense like AW.
Where do you live sanjay? England or India?
team for tommorow
hilario
–ferriera ivano terry zhirkov
mikel
ballack malouda
joe cole
kalou borini

GOD NEWS : OFFICIAL AGUERO TO CHELSEA :P
GOD NEWS : OFFICIAL AGUERO TO CHELSEA :P
Link ? didn’t find any news on this.
I hope Kaluo is fine and has not taken any serious injury .. As for the result, I am ok as long as we don’t take this form into PL.. Even if we won the match, we would have to play two more semi final games against villa in crucial January month..
Man City seems to have come out of the draw jinx. Hopefully we win there to come this tiresome away tour..
i think no problem with result just win vs city whats wrong with this jersy but problem we have to use same vs city but still we can win with our first x1 penalty shootout defeat with a reserve team is no problem at all amazed ballack missed a penalty
i thought germans never miss
Carling cup exit is nothing, but it may affect carlo and players spirit a little. If carlo placed a 6 youth players yesterday,i would be happy with our exit. But we only had 2 youths.
I also get jumpy whenever we wear this jersey. The fans claim it’s the nicest of the 3, but it’s the unluckiest. We’ve only won once in it and that was in pre-season. we beat Milan 2-1 in the USA that’s all. Thereafter , we’ve drawn at Reading, Lost at Wigan , Aston Villa and now Blackburn all in that outfit. Conversely we’ve won all our matches in Blue and even in the white. I say the white should be our away outfit. period. Besides the away shirt has Blue in it anyway. so how can it be our alternate outfit? This weekend we r away at City and wearing it again is not adviceable. Call me superstitious, but it’s better to b safe than sorry
Great Didier
Great strategy
Great performance
Fly, fly high, fly higher and fly the highest
Extend the gap more and more.
is this outfit, second or third choice. since man city will play blue, I am hoping we will go for white..
Any news on Salomon Kaluo injury .. if he is out .. then only Borini is the striker. STurridge is also injured.
Are we buying in January Mr Loti………………………………….
We should do anything in our power to get this young lad. He is unbelievable. So forget Kun, please he is over priced anyway.

Kaluo is out for two weeks ..
great win
first half was quite poor and ashley cole was struggling as sagna constantly overlapped him
ashley redeemed himself by doing it to sagna, pushing him back deep into his area and providing the key to the first two goals
The team never really got out of first gear, Drogba has to be man of the match for the array he displayed against arsenal
abit disappointed with the Carling Cup loss considering we beat Blackburn something like 4-0 recently. Zhirkov is rusty, I didn’t agree with the line up anyway, malouda was playing striker….not what I would do. Maybe Carlo is trying to sharpen Florent up =, I dunno
I think we will be buying in January, Carlo has no choice, he doesn’t know what the future will hold in terms of the ban. He needs to bring in one or two players to assure success accross the ban sentence.
Taking into account the current team, loanee players and holes in the squad I would say
A striker. Drogba is 31, he will be missing alot of games come 33. Anelka should be doing well but it is a gamble relying on kalou, borini, di santo and sturridge. Names given are aguero and balotelli. These are big names on young stars. Alot of cash. I doubt aguero would leave in january but after this season in spain, it will make perfect sense for him to leave madrid for west london. No doubt he would slot in well. Balotelli-Barwuah would be my preferred option as he is strong, talented and vicious with his play, poor discipline though.
We have alot of midfielders, alot of depth and they can interchange positions. A defensive midfielder wouldn’t go amiss, we seem strecthed if we lose mikel and essien. A young talent like Blaise Matuidi, Jack Rodwell or Stephane M’bia would slot in nicely.
To be honest, we could probably get by on the players we have, the extent of our youth is vast.
And i am with you..!! “trueplatinumplaya “
