Chelsea 4-0 Wolves | Here they come . . .

Sorry I’m late but I’m here and I’m fine. Just before the start of the match, I was telling my mate that this would be a 4-0 for us. What I was telling him basically was that Chelsea are too strong for Wolves. That’s even without Drogba and Lampard. Now that the Bridge is back to the good old days being a fortress, Wolves are certainly going to worry only about the scoreline and not about the result. That’s what happened exactly. We could have easily doubled this scoreline if we had wanted. Once we got to a 3-0 lead, we had started to think about everything else than this match. I was pretty pleased with that. I certainly wanted a win of 3 or 4 goal margin so that we can stay on top on goal difference table too. Naturally, Ancelotti was certainly thinking beyond this match.

This was certainly a pre-cursor to the drogpard-less Chelsea. We had to get two things out of this match – goals and confidence. We all know that more than 50% of our goals come from Drogba and Lampard. When this duo is missing, we had to show that we can still continue with our excellent goal-scoring form. And confidence? We played superbly well, supremely confident and completely in control of the proceedings. Wolves had few chances but still were nowhere near stopping us from scoring.

From a Chelsea fan’s point of view, the biggest talking point of the match was not about the four goals or Essien’s near hattrick or the manner in which we despatche Wolves. It was the three subs that came in the second half. I don’t remember when was the last time a Chelsea manager played three young players in a premier league match. When I saw the names of Borini, Kakuta and Matic in the bench, I was just wildly hoping that all three would get to play. I was very very pleasantly suprised and thoroughly impressed of Carletto when he brought all three.

So finally, we got to see Kakuta. And I see what the fuss was all about. Man, he is so good! He dribbled, he did some tricks, he sprinted through – overall, he was damn impressive. I want to see more of him. I always knew that he is supposed to be the wonderkid who’s the next-xyz, but it was great to see him in action. He did not play like it was his debut. He did not play like how one would do if his match was a premier league home match. I also liked the way he blended with the rest of the team. I hope we get to see more of Kakuta in the near future.

Borini was impressive too. He did not get to make as much impact as Kakuta did but he showed some glimpses of why Carlo had him play in a premier league match. He had pace and could really accelerate at times. I still don’t know what kind of forward he is. He doesn’t look like a goal poacher. May be he is more of a support striker. Matic was very good too. He is a really big lad. I did see him making some very quick decisions and neat executions in his midfield play. He is very strong and he has skill to make some really tight angle passes.

I was so happy to see these guys on the pitch and playing so well. We seem to have a potential of hitting a great balance in the team with some fantastic senior pros and highly talented kids. I like the way Carlo taking us. He seems very professional, very pragmatic and thoroughly tactical too. He’s got his next big test coming up next weekend. Carlo has now beaten Liverpool once and Man Utd twice. If he beats Arsenal next week, we will surely finish as winter champions. We should thump the goners at Emigrants and you don’t know how much I’d love that.

Good recap BC, have u got ur gear working now?

if yesterdays display from kakuta showed a glimpse of the future, then the future of CFC is truly in good hands.
Phew what dazzling start to his EPL career. He is a huge talent for sure but I think Carlo have played a great part in making him stay sharp and focused on that main goal during the ban he was on. so credit to Carlo.

Also it was great thing for the club that he showed what he is all about, after all everyone have huge expectation on him due to the kakuta-case.

Credit to the wolfs for not only trying to park the bus and go for a goalless draw. they gave it their best and was very unlucky to fail to score specially in the first half. well that was due to luck and great defending from our side.

Essien was unbelievable but that’s the standard we expect from him on a weekly basis. but yesterday even though it did belong to kakuta, as bc correctly said, I think the whole team were awesome. We got world class performance from Anelka and Ashley. I am still not confident when kalou plays but I am sure am not the only one.

We got a very important game on Wednesday against Porto away. the minimum is a draw, cause we have to win the group or we might get a really touch draw in the knockout-stage if we fail to secure first place.

Kakuta is awesome and i think he is worth all the fuss.

3. heyjose - 22nd Nov

Stamford Bridge is again a fortress. I hope the goal scored on the opening day will the first and the last. Kakuta showed a lot of promise and I hope he gets more chances in future. Arselol should be easy to beat, since without van Persie they don’t have any one who can put the ball in the back of the net. Our main target would be to stay focused in January when most of our guys are out.

5. CFCIR - 22nd Nov

Franco Di Santo is shining at blackburn. He can help us at Jan too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6. Jimmy Jimmalo - 22nd Nov

Arsenal 0 chelsea 3 believe me this is one of our easy fixtures. I like Kakuta (KK) he is just so good ive been saying this for ages, who said we cant produce talent? KK, Borini, Buma, Matic now wait and see CHELSEA che che che for ever the best club in the world no doubt about that we are the team of the moment i love it i love it viva viva chelsea

7. trueplatinum - 22nd Nov

i think this is the first time I have 100% agreed with BlueChampion. Really well spoken points man

kakuta is a real buzz, I watched one reserve game, youtube highlights aren’t quite enough. In honesty, I never expected him to come through this. What is great about this kid, is he didn’t have to score to impress, his movement with and without the ball wowed us all, he has understanding beyond his years.
I would say Borini is a centre foward, he likes to be right up in the box but he seems like the kind who just likes to create the goals, not necessarily score them, so much like tevez, totti etc. I was trying to avoid using the word interesting as Carlo used it, but it can’t be helped, he isn’t a wow factor, he is actually interesting. Would be really could to see these three develop and sturridge as well
I think that the African cup of nations could be just what they need to shine

8. trueplatinum - 22nd Nov

*would be really good

I really hope we don’t sign anyone except some youth.
I really do hope, i am tired of staff making their decisions without Manager’s advice.
We don’t need anyone for 5 years for sure.
Stamford the Fortress!

I love how Matic play! His ball control is great. His style of playing, is similar to Petit =)

11. Austine - 22nd Nov

Borini was good, Matic was better, and Kakuta was best. The future is bright.Matic reminds me of Mac Manaman(forgive my spelling), Michael Ballack. His runs and movements can be likened to those of the above mentioned players.Weldone lads!! Keep the colour “blue”.

12. amgoing - 22nd Nov

I see the touches of Ballack in the big lad Matic. He’s a great talent and i surely believe he’ll succeed at Chelsea. I saw great ball winning skills in him and good distribution. Just give him more chance to shine; carling cup and maybe FA. Kakuta was also superb as well as Borini. They just need to start scoring goals; hey the future is pure blue and some white :) KTBFFVH

All our top 4 clashes have been after champions league away games. Man U and now Arsenal have the luxury of playing at home in CL.. Arsenal and liverpool also played one day earlier.

A draw would be good for us Wed to get the top spot and focus on the big game in the weekend

14. cfc - 22nd Nov

Sun Reports that the deal for Kun is already agreed and he would join us in Summer – 37.5 MM and immediately loaned back to AM.

It also says, we are in pole position to buy Ribery for 45 MM.. I think if we buy we should go for Hamshik and Rodwell, would cost the same as Ribery.

15. Nay Myo Aung - 22nd Nov

Great home record.
Great Ancelotti, Great Essien and Great team.
Good start for Kakuta, Matic and Borini.

Maintain your form.

Well done to the lads. I’ll still preach caution here. It’s still early in the season. Arsenal could be a real cracker. until after that game it’s still up in the air.

17. TruePlatinum - 22nd Nov

Everyone be sure to thank Fiorentina for making the Champions League scouseless like it should have been since that year Liverpool finished 5th
Maybe we should buy a few of Liverpools players as they will have ALOT less revenue now
Emiliano Insua could be prised away, maybe babel could be a bargain buy, anything is possible, this is our year

Have to agree. they came to bridge last year after a loss against Villa and defeated us.. Good that they won today. Hope didier is 100 % fit for the arsenal game .

What a bloody season for Liverpool.Im still shocked by their CL early exit.I think Drogba will be ready for Arsenal match.Chelsea must teach arsenal a football lesson again, like last year 1:4

SUB:Hilario,Alex,Zhirkov,Essien,Drogba,GAEL KAKUTA.

PORTO 1-2 OR 1-1 Chelsea.

24. heyjose - 22nd Nov

malouda must play on sunday even if lamps is fit lamps can play behind striker malouda has scored in last 2 meeting lamps should only play only if 100 percent as he is important long term drogba has to play as well

25. sunny - 22nd Nov

The entire squad is playing to its potential these days……strikers are in good form, midfield has always been fantastic, defensively we are well secured….. even the likes of malouda, mikel and kalou have started putting in decent performances in recent times.

Bit is just I just wonder what exactly does DECO bring to this chelsea team. for me he has been ordinary for quite some time now. playing in that hole behind strikers is not what he is best suited for……neither has he shown any composure on the ball (he gives it away quite cheaply), not known for winning the ball back, nor does he ever show his neat passing and playmaking skills that the world really brags about, nor is he ever known for his shooting skills and neither is he gonna ever get any opportunity to deal with dead ball situations from freekicks for us due to an already stiff competition in that department with the likes of drogba, lams, bally etc.

I guess carlo recognises that and is aware that maybe he is just a squad player and not a regular starter and should only use him in carling cups and against really weak oppositions.I would be furious to see him start ahead of cole on sunday.

26. CFCIR - 22nd Nov

Carlo must rest Lampard at arsenal game.We can beat arsenal easily,IF CARLO DONT USE DECO.

27. cfc - 22nd Nov

Grant is back at Portsmouth .. Guess what , his first game is against Man U again ? Poor guy.. Whatever said, I like his signings – Anelka , Ivanovic and Di Santo.. Not sure is Bosingwa is his or Scolari’s.

29. CFCIR - 22nd Nov

I think carlo must place atleast 4 youngsters for APOEL game.I believe chelsea youth power can beat them, unlike Sir alex fergusen youth loss to besiktas.
