Don’t let the score deceive you. This was a match that could have gone either way. It was only after the second Chelsea goal, the match turned our way. Until that second goal, Bolton had their fair share of chances and if they had scored a couple of goals, I would have had very little to complain. This was a match where Drogba must have got a hattrick and shot me up to the summit of fantasy league. Anyway, I’m happy that we ended with a 4-0 score. I feel sorry for Jussi, 8 goals past him in less than a week, all from the Blues.Since losing to Aston Villa, we have scored 17 goals and conceded none, in 4 matches. That’s the form of champions.
The first half was very nervy for a Chelsea fan and very promising for a Bolton fan. Though it was clear that we were going to score at some point of time, it was just difficult to say that we’d keep a clean sheet. Bolton had some superb chances but failed to capitalise. Any other team with top finishers would have put us in trouble. Finally, the goal did arrive close to the half time whistle, thanks to Drogba. It was a clear penalty and a red card. The compact Bolton defence for a moment, let some space create between their centre backs which was exploited well by Drogba to win the penalty. Lampard’s spot kick was sweet. His penalties have improved tremendously over the last few months. May be it is just a thing of confidence. It was really a very confident penalty!
Ancelotti has been persisting with Deco at the tip of the diamond. I must say, Deco has made the best of Carlo’s trust in him. I would still be tempted to have Lampard there but credit where it’s due, Deco has been very good there. For a player like Deco to be playing there, I may not expect him provide service all day long ala Lampard, but he must be able to create some magic with his fluidity and skill. Yesterday, the goal that he took was exquisite. Agreed that Anelka made superbly weighted and accurately threaded ball to Deco. But the Porzilian rounded off the defender with a nice feint and finished it in style.
Ivanovic had to get a goal yesterday. May be he was determined to get one for himself. He had a few shots on goal. He even had fantastic goal disallowed for offside. What a strike that was! Finally, he got his goal off a cross from Carvalho. Ivanovic was on for Bosingwa. Though he did not have the pace and adventure of Bosingwa, he did bring in something. He had his russian way of moving with the ball, if you know what I mean. He has his way of twisting, swinging and turning, with close control of the ball and drawing opponent players. Teams would die to have someone like Ivanovic as their second choice full back. Paulo Ferreira made it to the first eleven as well. He did hold up well. Not easy to come in and impress at the left back position where Ashley Cole has been churning in ‘player of the season’ performances.
Fourth goal was a thing of beauty. We seem to produce one such goal every match. That wicked flick to Drogba may not be highly spoken of because it was made by the hardworking, efficient Lampard who is not expected to produce these moments. ‘Did he really mean it’ is the cruel response of the footballing public to these Lampard moments but he has been bloody consistent with these too. Now let’s welcome him back as he’s fully shrugged off his ‘poor form’ and he is back among the goals and assists.
Special mention about Anelka’s performance. He was just brilliant. His movement was very good. He was pretty determined to win the ball and not to lose it. It’s a shame that he couldn’t score but his contribution to the team was superb.
To have a played Bolton at the Reebok stadium and not to have a conceded a goal from a set piece or a cross or a longball itself seems like an achievement for the kind of goal-conceding form we were in. We were a bit suspect but didn’t let the ball in, no matter how troubled we were. Cheers for that.
Elsewhere, Man Utd and Arsenal won. And Liverpool lost. While that’s not a surprise, I’m still surprised to see Tubby holding onto his job this morning. For the good of football and Chelsea FC, let him be there. If Tubby winning the FA Cup would keep him there for another few years, I’d give it to Liverpool. Chelsea continues to stay on top for another week but the real test is on the 8th of November. Sunbears visit the Bridge and let me tell you loud and clear, if we beat them then, we are going to be champions. Yes, the title will be won in November! Oh, before that, we have this little matter of qualifying for the second round of champions league. Bad news to Atletico! Drogba is back in champions league!

i hope we beat sunbears or manu whatever u call them i hope we win 2-0
Great to see/hear you back in fine form BC. You have been a bit invisible lately. A great post as usual. Isn’t it just great to be True Blue at the moment? It’s always good to be True Blue, but October 2009 has been fantastic.
The team exudes confidence to a degree I have rarely seen in a Chelsea team.
I saw Atleticos game against Bilbao yesterday ( lost 1-0) . They are just so poor in defence, so I’m sure we’ll beat them comprehensively. As to manure next weekend, I have no worries. If we play to our full abilities, we are stronger than manure in any part of the game.
Thanks Danablue! You’re right. I’ve been a bit busy of late. The blog’s been a bit quiet because this is a solo job. I’m still waiting for an able partner with whom we would be able to keep the blog ticking with much more frequency. Anyway, I’m here, alive and blogging :-)
Chelsea squad is great ,but i hope FIFA lift our ban to buy some players to cover African players.Carlo must give matic and sturidge some chance, they are our hope for african player loss.
i think our squad is good. but some of those u17 and u20 stars would be good.
jussi was not the goal keeper mid week..ivanovic’s goal came down has own goal from zat knight…get ya facts right..i rely wanted ivan to score…this is the 2nd goal this season which i thought went to him,but wher given og’s on score sheet…
Correction there, jussi dint keep in the cup game.only 4 games conceded by him.not that it matters though.
interestingly 8 red cards were handed out during the games played.
well played, strong showing from every1. MOTM goes to anelka though, what a performance. you can tell his loves the free role he has been given. Drifts left, right and his instant stop and instand start just messed up the bolton defense.
also who says we need attacking fullbacks, ferriera and ivanovic are fullbacks who are anything but attacking.
lampards shot from the corner though, looked like it was gonna break the cross bar and if anything got in its way i think they would have been knocked out.
Chelsea top of the ladder and we have the highest goal difference too.
a.madrid coming up and they still going shit, if we win we are basically through to the next round of the CL.
hope we not getting a tad bit over-confident there,BC.like carlo said, lets keep our feet on the ground.one game at a time, dont look at “Sunbears”(?!) yet.wait time we’ve beaten madrid with another brace from kalou to start looking ahead.anelka or drog needs to be rested for the mancs.heres to 3-0 in madrid
Yep, a good match as a whole. The only player that scared me was Carvalho. His positioning was sometimes tricky, he was not able to deal with crosses at times and only thanx to Cech we didnt concede. Btw. Cech had a good game with some perfect saves, do not forget this when talking about all the Bolton chances. Drogs seemed to want very very much to score a goal, Essi probably felt the same way, as his shooting from distance was not always the best way to deal with the situation. Anelka was just great, Deco did his job well and Ivanovic was superb – these are my three stars of the game.
Overall, a good match – a good win that can help our confidence ahead of the Madrid clash, no injuries and not a physical, exhaustive game at all. Cmon Blues!
Any news on Ashley cole and Jose Bosingwava injury . Would they be fit for Man U game..
We have been doing pretty damn exceptionally without those two
We are scaring everyone, now-a-days all my red wearing friends are silent. They are not to be seen in smoking zone, absconding!!!!!!!!
i want chelsea to rest drogs as sunday is more important if has a slight injury no need to risk in this game as we can win without him on tuesday but we need him on sunday
So far so good but you should score more and the result should be better.
Maintain your good performance and try harder for away games.
Good luck for the matches against Atletico at Madrib and Man Utd at home.

dont worry blues are aware of that it wont happen situation is totaly different we have beaten top sided already this season last season we beat roma 1-0 at home we beat atletico 4-0 its different we have ancelotti who is 100 times better than lfs
we are in better run year we didnt go into that match on bank of such a goal scoring we had lost to poll a week before at home
Happy with the comeback .. Only thing is porto is right behind us with 9 points. We need to win or draw at Porto so that we can top the group..

Thats why we shoud get aguero at summer. He could be our Messi.About United game,i wanna ssay something.I hate all of the united players except rooney, but there is someone that is hate him from my guts:Patric stupid Evra.Ancelotti must give United a hard lesson .We dont have a great record Vs them in the 3 past years. In jose era ,chelsea was united nightmare, lets do it again. For this all of our deffenders must play better, specially John Terry.
Drogba on fire now, so strong.
Vote for him as best player in the world here:
http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/chelsea/9220/your-call-is-didier-drogba-the-best-player-in-the-world-right-now.html
……..Well said CFCIR. Aguero’s finish and subsequent free-kick were superb. We all have been discussing about Alan Dzagoev over the past year. But after watching him over the past couple of weeks, I really think we should buy him with aguero in the summer. Its better to start building our team for the next decade.
……..Drogba’s double was superb. He’s the best striker on the planet. The press & other clubs may differ, but that’s how they’ll always try to play us down. Managing to get trophies and building a world class team in such a short span is a remarkable acheivement and that sure makes others feel jealous.
…….. I hope we end the Reds title ambitions this weekend. Lampard & Drogba’s performance to get us 3 pts. KTBFFH !!!
I think it is a must to buy Aguero at JUN.Because chelsea cannot handle drogba absence.Roman must spend any bid to bring aguero at chelsea.
what going on – all man u players are taking – http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1225132/Manchester-United-fear-Chelsea-stop-deadly-Didier-Drogba-says-Gary-Neville.html
I would prefer Dzagoev (CSKA) than Aguero (Athletico)…i have also seen Dzagoev talking about his wish to be a Chelsea player. He said that he had been supporting us since Roman’s takeover.
I want Dzagoev, and then Aguero!
Chelsea vs Man Utd
————–Cech————–
-Ivanovic–Terry–Alex–A.Cole-
-Lampard–Ballack–Essien–Malouda/Deco-
———-DIDIER DROGBA-Anelka——–
Chelsea 3-1 Man Utd.
Bosingwa is out with Knee Surgery..
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/chelsea/6506611/Jose-Bosingwa-knee-surgery-blow-for-Chelsea.html
We should also be in for Angel Maria – Man U is tracking him
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Manchester-United-plan-transfer-swoop-for-12million-Argentine-ace-article211441.html
aguero has encouraged chelsea fc to actually bid for him.
he seems pretty flattered by chelsea interest.
thats nice to hear
its also official that we bid 42m for him this summer
No doubt he is a good player but where do we fit him into the team
drog and anelka are great players themselves.
I am sure that aguerro is not the bloke who can see himself benched or used as a backup. he is not a backup material and somebody who walks into the starting line up if he is fit.
can we afford to just bench nico with no fault of his own (surely we can not ever think of benching drogba). other than his football qualities i think he has a wonderful attitude and behavior on the pitch.
Well it all might just be a rumor but does this guy fit into our squad. He is good player but but for me chelsea would be better off not even trying to bid for him ever again (especially considering the price tag that he comes with)
Aguero to Chelsea :P
