Chelsea face their first serious opposition of the premier league this season. Though we have won five in five, let’s also remind ourselves that most of those would be fighting to save relegation next May. I’ve been saying that we are lucky with our fixures list this time. Just when got a new manager and a new system, we’re blessed with some not-so-tough fixtures in the first couple of months. Now we will have to show that form against Tottenham too.
Spurs started this season well but last weekend they got a dose of reality when sun bears beat them at White Hart Lane. That match kind of showed that while Spurs are playing well, they still have some way to go before they can compete for the top four. It’s not the fact that they were beaten, it’s just the manner in which they were dismantled and despatched.
We’re only a month into the new season and Chelsea players have already played about 8 matches, including the internationals. We had a difficult match last weekend and a tiring mid-week match against Porto and now here we are, meeting the dangerous Tottenham on Sunday. But the most key player for us, Didier Drogba did not play the mid-week match due to suspension so he must be fresh and ready for this duel. The other positives could be that Joe Cole and Zhirkov might be available for selection.
I think we’d continue to play the 4-4-2 narrow diamond. I have a feeling that Deco would start and he could be playing in the hole. I’m almost worried that I’m not seeing enough of Sturridge. I’m tempted to say that he can play on Sunday. So far we have played teams that pack the defence and play narrow. So the last few matches may not have helped Sturridge get some decent playing minutes. But Tottenham play an open game and use a lot of width. At least as a new striker you won’t be frustrated when you play against good teams. So, a good enough theory to get a glimpse of Sturridge on the pitch?
On Sunday, there’s also this much awaited Manchester derby. Tevez has gone on record that he’s only waiting for this match to show to Red side of Manchester why the blue side is now a title contender. I’d love to see if he does an Adebayor. But as far as I know, the Man Utd fans always loved Tevez and he also knows and acknowledges that. So he wouldn’t piss off the Manure fans but he would certainly look at good old Fergie. I want a very very entertaining 4-4 like draw.
I think we will beat Tottenham 2-1 or 3-1. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will keep a clean sheet against Spurs. I can even tell you where that goal would come from. Expect our right back to be rogered and beaten. I’m almost sure that it would be our right back that makes a costly miss. Also, I can’t see why Drogba cannot score. Lampard would also score because he knows that he’s in my fantasy league team and he wants me to win it. Be it a Super Sunday then!
P.S: I’m just toying with idea of redirecting the comment section to BC Huddle! Just like this website – hit the comments link there and see how it works.

The boys really have to stand up now and show what they’re worth. If we don’t win this game, i foresee a downfall in confidence and our pretty good football of the last games could be gone. I agree with you that i’d love to see more of Sturridge, he looks really promising. And besides that, he left City to get more time on the pitch, so let’s not disappoint him!
This is a must win match for CFC otherwise haters will call us fluke. I know we have the attitude to dispatch this tottenham FC. KTBFFH
hey i wish glory for Chelsea!!!!!!!!!!!
Chelsea will win this game 2-0 i wish Drogba will score a goal and may be anelka or lampard !!!!!!!!!
Last season, the first game we drew was against Spurs at Bridge.. Hope we go better than that..
May be Joe Cole might start on the right side of diamond tomorrow .. Sturridge and Kalou or Borrini to start the mid week derby against QPR in Carling cup . Gosh we have two derby this week.

The Best Chelsea
i am a big daniel sturridge fan and i have to say, he needs more minute, this kid could be something special, im not convinced ancelotti is the coach to make him a star, but chelsea is one of the greatest things he could do for himself
as for tottenham, my biggest worry is peter crouch (funnily enough). We typically don’t cut out aerial threats, with darren bent gone as well as berbatov, the hassle lies in defoe, crouch and modric, i understand luka modric is injured, so really, we should do just fine. I wouldn’t rule spurs off the scoresheet, however, if there is a star man for tomorrow, it will be bosingwa, tottenham have lennon as the only firing winger, seeing as he plays on the right only, its cole’s job to keep him quiet. Im hoping to see zhirkov in action tomorrow. Drogba for a brace i think 3-1
This would be the best signing of the summer ..

Actually Chelsea just need be patient today and let Spurious FC implode !
Tot are hard nut but chelsea are going to crack them
I don’t know why Ancelotti will not give Sturridge a chance. The guy look promising and he is not new to premieship. He has play some games for ManCity and score. He came to bridge for more time on the pitch. He should be tryed, pered him with one of those experience striker and see whether he will flow or not. The two features he had during pre-season matches was fantastic and we knew what he did.
