‘BlueChampions’ completes 3 years | Join BC Huddle!

Hi Chelsitos! This is Vijayakrishna here. Most people call me VJ and write my name as vjkrishna. If you wonder if someone’s hacked this blog – no. I’m the man behind this blog. I’m the one who you call BC. Why did I think of disclosing my name today? I don’t know. I just thought I’d do it today. Anyway, keep calling me BC otherwise I won’t know if you’re talking to me :-)

As of today, September 1, 2009, BlueChampions completes three years of Chelsea blogging and steps into the fourth year. BlueChampions has been very much a part of my life. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed running this blog and keeping company with you lot. We’ve not met even once but we have certainly formed a community here. Very often we do find ourselves in places where there’s no football fan to debate about use of technology for refereeing or there is no premier league fan to argue why foreign ownership is not bad or there is no Chelsea fan to passionately discuss who should be at the tip of our attacking diamond. I bet you got a place where you can do this arguing, debating, discussing and always come back every day for more.

Today is the day of the flashbacks and nostalgia. I want to take you through this little journey of this blog which started in the drawing room of some guy in India and now . . er . . continues to be run out of that very drawing room. I’ll also heavily use the post of the last anniversary as it still is very valid.

I’d be lying if I tell you that I didn’t expect this blog to grow so much. When I started the blog, I definitely wanted this to be big. I certainly had a vision. I wanted this blog to grow. I wanted this blog to be talked about. I thought today could be a day when I can talk about how this blog was born and how it was raised.

Officially, Sep 1 is the birthday of this blog. On 11-Aug-2006, I created the original version of this blog. I didn’t know much about website hosting so I went for one of these free blogging softwares. When I registered for the blog with blogspot.com, I had to choose a title for the blog. The first title that came to my mind was bluechampions. I wasn’t sure if that would be available but to my surprise, it was. So it was bluechampions.blogspot.com. I didn’t quite like how the comments area appeared in blogspot. So I moved over to wordpress. It was quite strange considering that it took months for me to see a comment on the blog. From 13-Aug-2006, it was bluechampions.wordpress.com. These sites (bluechampions on blogspot and wordpress) still exist. Check them out.

bcwp

From the day one, I started writing football/Chelsea articles. Almost everyday, I was writing one article. There were no comments at all and in fact, no one else was reading the blog as only I and my mate had known that such a blog existed. This went for a couple of weeks. I wanted to host the blog on my own domain. I bought the domain bluechampions.com on 1-Sep-2006 and published my first post in the blog. My first post in all these versions of bluechampions has been the same:

I speak Chelsea!

Okay, this is a Chelsea fan blog! The posts would mostly be the views, opinions and factual statements of a Chelsea fan. Whether you agree or disagree, you’re free to post your comments.

Though it looks like a stupid first post, my idea and philosophy around the blog has been very much the same. I have always said that I write my views and opinions, which means I don’t do research, I just write what I’d have tell you. It’s just views and opinions, as simple as that. And I did use the term ‘Chelsea fan’ twice in a post that had two lines. That kind of underlines that there would be some bias and you’d be smart to expect some bias, in fact. I guess that’s exactly what I wanted to convey from that post.

The first comment on this blog, very very coincidentally, was from a gentleman called Jose, who said:

Yo. Tevez has gone to west ham. Next season he’ll join us.

That’s all he said. That was the time I was hoping that we sign Tevez. This gentleman, the first commenter didn’t not visit again to comment. His first comment was the first for this blog and the last for him.

As soon as I started the blog, I began working on the traffic. Back then, I used to post comments and responses in every football blog or forum around just so that this blog link can appear there. I knew that ChelseaBlog was the only Chelsea related blog worthy of note then. I started posting comments in the Chelsea blog with the bluechampions link underneath my comment. To my surprise, I was banned in Chelseablog for promoting my site. Fair play, I didn’t really know the rules of the game then. I did try to establish some contact with the admin there to let me publish my comments but all those attempts failed. I didn’t try to post comments in that blog since then. I guess I’d still be a banned user there!

I started making a lot of friends and visitors, mostly of other clubs. The traffic did grow, a bit slowly though. All through this period if there is one thing I did relentlessly, was to keep publishing posts, irrespective of how many people read it or commented on it. Also, I did one more thing – switching between themes and templates. I guess from then till now, I must have used more than a dozen templates for this blog.

I then had a tie-up with Soccerlens for some time but I couldn’t really keep it up. There were many offers from many football aggregation sites but I didn’t go for any. Ole Ole did come in talk to me on getting this blog hosted on Ole Ole. I did have some live chat with them but then I did not want this to be oleole.bluechampions.com, I just wanted this to remain bluechampions.com, with all the ownership and freedom of what I wanted to do with this blog. That’s one reason why you don’t see any advertisements on this blog. I’m getting at least one advert proposition per week but I just don’t want to spoil the look and feel of the blog or to make it difficult for you to load or read. Plus, I get loads of emails to the BlueChampions mailbox – advert proposals, link exchanges, tie-ups, feedbacks, post requests and many such other things. Gosh, I need an agent, a manager and a personal secretary right away.

Meanwhile, I kept trying out additions and improvements. Back then we had opinion polls but it took time for me to introduce polls with multiple choices. Then came the gravatars – the online face for each contributor. There was this forum or message board that I started and I guess that was a failure or I failed to keep it going. I still think a forum for BlueChampions would be just right – more on that later. Then we had this BC Shout which is still a hit, I must say. I don’t see any other football blog that has a live chat feature. There are a lot of things I want to do but I’m not really a technology person, you see. All that I do with this blog is purely based on the knowledge I gained from the internet and hours of trials and errors. Well, I need a web designer too then.

The biggest milestone was the contact from Chelsea FC. I’ve boasted about that a lot already. It doesn’t matter what and why they contacted me for. My take away from this is that BlueChampions has got the attention of someone at Chelsea FC. That thrills me more than anything else. We’re still working out what we can do for each other. Meanwhile, I’m also looking at various things that would take this blog to a ‘new level’. It’s just that some of these things are expensive in terms of cost and time. I’ll take care of the cost. If you can lend me time, that’ll be great.

I have now written around 730 articles and you have written around 28,400 comments. The blog is really flourishing. But as I said, I want to do more. What I have in mind is to build a large Chelsea community on the web that consists of various facets of which the blog is one. While I continue to write on the blog, I want the BlueChampions brand to be more comprehensive. My vision is that BlueChampions should have a blog, a chatroom, a message board, a facebook style profile pages for all users, an online merchasndise store, a goodies download corner and much more.

As you might have noticed, this is too much work for someone who’s a married man and a father that also  happens to have a day job. This is why I’d come to you. To use corporate language, I will go public. I will have to go public because I need reliable volunteers. I’d need some Chelsea fans who can afford the time and still willing to spend that for free. All I can promise is to share what I get out of this – fun and satisfaction.

And finally, I must say I owe it to you guys! I blogging because you guys are reading. I do read all the comments and I do read all your compliments and appreciations. I may not be able to comment because much of my internet time slot goes just for publishing posts. Thank you very much guys. I know that you talk about the blog to your friends, you’ve got your friends and acquaintances to visit this blog, some of you are very loyal visitors and a big thanks to all the ones that comment and keep the blog lively.

Before I sign off, let me tell you that we now have a full-fledged message board called BlueChampions Huddle. This BC Huddle will have to evolve with time. I’ve set up the whole message board. All that you guys now need to do is to keep it going. Go there, create threads, create polls and discuss and participate. More detailed information on BC Huddle sometime later. Cheers!

Huddle

By the way india wins the nehru cup again.! Although its not a big competition its nice to see india winning something..beating an 85th ranked team looks great when u find india is ranked 156 or so..i have also heard that sunil chetri denied the chance to join celtic because he is from a country which is above 70 on fifa ranking..! :-( its a pity that uk dont allow work permit for a player who is from a country which is above the 70 th place.. Then how could i play for Chelsea :-) ..

It is indeed so nice to know the real person behind this lovely blog. Reading through your article, i was inspired by the way you kept your hope and dream alive. I try and post poems and when i don’t receive any comment, i feel demotivated; you kept the fire of motivation burning even when it was very hard. I have a full respect to you. And another thing, most of the bloggers accept and post advertisements and earn money, you didn’t do that which solely underlines that your blog is meant for Chelsea FC and not to make money in the process. A blog is obviously faster adn more user-friendly without the advertisements. I have loved this blog at first sight (may be i googled it), now i am totally moved by the history of how it was born and raised. Happy 3rd Anniversary to BlueChampions; i wish we could have a certain cake-cutting ceremony!

Since our BC had revealed his identity, let me also emulate him.

I am Karma C Wangdi from Bhutan. I am 26, a father of a 10 months old daughter (her middle name is Chelsea). I love Chelsea and often goes too far defending it when some manure, loserfool and arse-anal fans open their stinking mouth!

Long live BlueChampions; others, “be afraid, be very afraid” ;)

As usual, great post VJ … err …. BC. I believe you are an IIT/IIM alumnus who admires Google a lot. Well to be frank, I am amazed at your determination to keep it going for so long. Hats off!!

I came across this blog thru’ Google and was very much impressed with the simplicity & presentation. The posts are scripted immaculately as if one visualizes the action. These things kept me hooked on to this and over time this became a daily check. BC, I hope you succeed in materializing your vision aka Chelsitos World and we are all happy to play roles in this journey.

I hope your wife is not angry at you bcos Chelsea is your first love. :P

I love this blog, I really do. I searched high and low for a quality place to discuss/read about Chelsea until I found this place. I check it daily and I read all the comments. The visitors are great and the blogger is fantastic. So, yeah, a big thank you to you, BC, and I can’t wait until your dream for the ultimate Chelsea fansite/community becomes reality because it will be one hell of a thing to be a part of.

And I’m thrilled to be a member of BC Huddle. I think a forum will be a great place to read some serious insight about Chelsea and football in general. I can’t wait to be part of the community. Hopefully I’ll post with some frequency. As it is, I’m always lurking in BC Shout during the matches and reading what everyone says. I’m a lurker by nature, lol.

VJ aka BC, for me you will be always VJ first and BC second but that does not take anything away from you and this great site you created. It just speaks of volumes on how good are you at work and more generally outside this post.

Congratulations and wish you the very best

Well done BC ! Another great post from you, man i enjoy reading your posts :D . ChelseaBlog and the other blogs are too pessimistic or too aggressive at times for me. I must say, BlueChampions is indeed the best Chelsea blog there is and part of my daily routine goes like ‘Sign on MSN > Check Mail > Check BlueChampions’ :D

Keep the good posts coming my friend. Hopefully this year we shall celebrate the Premier League and Champions League glory together in BlueChampions 3rd year !

Keep The Blue Flag Flying High !!!

Chances, because we were after him last year until he ditched us in teh 11th hour. But i know who has been ditched! Nevertheless it would be a nice buy and we will surely get him for a half price than we could have paid him last year. We have two best strikers adn we have Sturridge, but African Nations Cup will trouble us, so i wouldn’t mind if we capture this little Brazilian magician! And we cannot rule out injury ill-luck; but my fingers are crossed that injuries won’t strike us as severely as it had last year!

Chelsea forever!

BREAKING NEWS: FRANCK RIBERY has agreed a 4 year contract with Chelsea, which will see him move from Bayern Munich to the West London outfit for a reported £40M. The deal will smash the current British Transfer Record of £32.5M paid by Manchester City for Robinho 12 months ago. The deal was struck in the early hours of the morning and reports suggest that Ribery has already left Germany for his medical with Chelsea. The news comes after months of speculation and constant denial by the Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti of not being insterested in the French winger.

I think our scouts and those who involved in transfer activities are not good enough..we are playing in the ucl as one of the favourites, and contesting for the league title as the top seed…but still we cant attract potential ballon d’ors and the likes ., then whats mancity doing is impressive..they dont have rich history, they are not competing for the league title, they are not even playing in the europa league (let alone champions league favourites)but they are still attracting the likes of robinho, tevez, adebayor etc..just because of some ‘we will be…’ words…and yet our those scouts and stuffs are one of the highest paid in the business!! :-(

I read this fan site for nearly a whole year b4 I ever posted. I suspect (no I know) there many out there that read this site and don’t post. Just look how many people signed up in our Fantasy League! That being said – as I have mentioned before, this fan site is a true international forum to discuss Chelsea. I am from Southern California here in the US but I know there are posters on this site from all over the world. This site is a beacon that shines a light on the international Chelsea fan base. They (Chelsea suits) should be subsidizing this site (or at least giving you tix to matches) ;)

Keep it up VJ – this is my Chelsea home away from home!

Congratulations BC!
You have every right to talk about the contact from ChelseaFC, I boasted for months that I had visited Stamford bridge for one whole season!!!
You are doing and have done what every Chelsea fan dreams about, Kudos to you!
I really like the BC Shout feature during the games, I remember during the Liverpoo game, I had posted saying that I moved (and sat in a particular chair) and there was a goal for us & all the guys shouting, “stay where you are” etc, I remember my girl being amused at my language, and the ease with which I was able to communicate and connect in a very special way with ‘some unknown’ people online
Your views and comments are solely yours, like you said & its not necessary for us to agree with you, opinions would differ, thats what makes all talk here so lively, It is basically FUN..and we have very good fun here :)
Its very impressive that you have stayed ad-free, especially during these times when people boast about their blogs immediately after 3 posts :)
You are a great fan of Chelsea and I wish you the best! I don’t know how you ended up coining such a lovely phrase ‘afraid, be very afraid’ :) ! It brings a proud smile !
KTBFFH!!

36. BlueChampion - 31st Aug

Wow! I’m overwhelmed! Thanks guys!

Shyam – It’s interesting that you noted it. That phrase ‘be afraid, be very afraid’ is exactly what I would tell our rivals and that’s why it is a good phrase for us. That’s something I started to use for this blog right from day one.

When Chelsea held Barca for a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the champions league semi finals at Camp Nou, many people just laughed at Chelsea and concluded that Barca will murder Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. All I said was we held out for 0-0 at Camp Nou not because we cannot win there but just because that was the plan. Ahead of the second leg, all that I said was ‘be afraid, be very afraid – Chelsea is coming to get you’. We bloody did. No one (all biggies included) played Barcelona like we played them. I want Chelsea to draw Barcelona again in this champions league and pay them back.

37. BlueChampion - 31st Aug

Do you want to be a moderator of BC Huddle? All that you need to do is to be one of the first three people to reach 250 posts which will graduate you from a ‘Chelsea Fan’ title to a ‘Chelsea Supporter’ title. If you’re one of the first three, you’ll become a BC Huddle moderator! Go for it!

38. famouscfc09 - 31st Aug

The French attacking midfielder Franck Ribery has signed on to join the London giants Chelsea for a mega 46 million euro bid with Joe Cole moving to the German team and the loan of Portuguese Deco.

Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovic travelled to Germany to offer 39 million euros and the loan of Deco but later on, the amount rose to 46 milllion and the transfer of Joe Cole was added to Deco’s loan.

Franck Ribery arrived at London and has yet to be medically tested before being presented to the fans and the press.

As for new Bayern’s coach Louis Van Gaal: “Franck really wanted to go so I couldn’t stand in his way. Plus, we have now two new great players and we are 46 million euros richer”, he said laughing.

40. Shyam - 31st Aug

Hey BC,
There seems to be a problem with your ‘date’ in the comments section, I definitely didn’t post on the 31st & you didn’t reply to me before I wrote anything ;) !
Regarding Barca strategy, it worked out very well, if only, Essien’s left foot poke was a little stronger like in the first 15mins of the game, we might have thrashed Manure in the finals(it was Guus the strategist, right?)
anyways, we just need to keep our heads this season & we will be fine. We need to not get carrieyd away, and as you can read from a lot of player’s interview’s there’s talk about ‘family atmosphere’, I think it is one of Carlitto’s strength’s to make players feel that way…I remember an interview in ESPN .. Gatusso from AC Milan was cursing Carlo saying..’Look at that guy, he is such bad guy, he left me here and he is enjoying there in England, how could he live me alone here’
If that is the kind of feeling he can evoke from our players, their performance level definitely will improve, look at Drogs & Anelka combination for instance, the team is priority than individual milestones this year, I think, the team would play and support Drogs a lot this year so that he can get his ton of goals, he definitely is at his aggressive best, literally brushing aside opposition defenders, and luckily none of his diving antics, I have a feeling Carlitto must be showing how the Italians can better him at diving ;) !!! or maybe he is playing videos of Arse’s, Manure’s & Poo’s players diving and moaning, and saying ‘it just ain’t worth it’.. and I think we are seeing Drogs grinning after having such close calls near the goal.
and that comment regarding the moderator, who was it directed at? I am not much of a commenter, I am more of a talker from the ‘BC Shout’, I am a whiner.. I complain when we are down..curse and all that!!! and when we are leading, I am just calm.. waiting for the final whistle, until I start breathing :) !!
but will try to post ‘genuine’ comments.

And guys! enough of the Ribery joke!!! its getting very stale.

41. jabi - 31st Aug

Interesting history, BC.
I wish you to have enough time for your family, job and for this blog.

Interesting history, BC.
I wish you to have enough time for your family, job and for this blog.

Watch out for Bayern in the CL. For me their line doesn’t look weaker than Real’s.

thats what we said about the last year… before barca raped them….. bayern should just sell us Bastian !!!

guys stop being like those reports that like to make up stories.. here on BC.. we speak FACTS….. thats why we can be trusted…. dont let this sneak into our blog……

Dear, don’t waste your time on useless websites which are there solely to spark rumours, that is how they survive. “An authentic source” is http://www.chelseafc.co.uk

What else do you want? Cheers…we are strong without Franck! We have Yuri, A Cole, Malouda, Bosingwa, Kalou, Anelka and soon Joey…most of them can all play at either flanks!

congrats to you bc for the great job all these many months. Some of us are unable to do the daily commenting we used to in the past but we stil monitor regularly. Will be nice if on occasions such as these, some of our previous popular contributor like joe blue etc to pop in to say hi. Keep the great work bc.

A very warm congratulations BC…

Bc and i go a long way back, i first came across this blog 2.8 years back when bluechampions was just staring out, and was part of the first contributors, this blog was then a weekend chelsea fans hub, man we used to have some fiery debates ;) , since then BC has evolved into a universal football forum and really is one of the few places on the net which truly speak chelsea, i know i have dissapeared for some time now, (have been really busy, but i still do check the blog regularly).

And i miss some of the great posters we used to have joseholiday, MD, TBF, nihongo blue etc, the blog used to be a minefield lol, we had tiffs, debates and arguments, and i used to be the devil of the blog… :p
its great to see so many new chelsea fans here, kudos mates.

anyhow youre doing a great great job VJ, we chelsea fans are proud of you , keep it up, and congrats again!!

finally last but not least, dear mourofessien, its so great to see that you are still around, how is it going mate?? life treating you well?? will definately try to post more here(if BC agrees ;) , have fun mate!

wishing our boys and carletto a very lucky and sucessful season ahead…

sky sports news just said… breaking news… that chelsea have been banned from signing any players for two years by fifa.. something to do with kakuta. what the fuck.

Please tell me this is all a freaking nightmare…..2 years without any new players? Now not only is UEFA against us, but FIFA too?

57. heyjose - 31st Aug

dont worry we will have players who will come back from loan deal with experience like stoch ,mancienne,di santo ,sinclair plus player from acadmy but manu arsenal real are also guilty they should be punished

yea just read the news. But its not exactly for 2 years, its for 2 transfer windows, thats the one in Jan and the next sommer transfer window. I hope chelsea will appeal. Fifa really hates chelsea it seems…..

59. IwasMissingJose - 31st Aug

But then we have enough players who can perform at their level best for atleast 2 years, so who cares…..

60. Malagant - 31st Aug

Oh fuck it, FIFA is always trying to bring us down

Lets hope the appeal reduces it to Jan only even though I don’t see any hope of that

If only we had an arsenal type squad then we could all laugh about it!

61. CFCIR - 31st Aug

fUCK, I HATE FIFA .This will help our young player ,but it may cost us something in the future.Kakuta is banned for 4 months too.Who did this shit?

62. BluRehman - 31st Aug

Not a big concern lads!!! its just that we need to be wise next year and build on out loan boys and completely utilize these players. We can appeal against this ban !!! Rotation needs to be inplace!!! We have soo many players doing nothing they can be used…

well said.. if this stands that wont bother me a bit. I know this will only motivate our team even more to bring home all the trophies. Come on blue army!!!

64. Jaz - 31st Aug

This is messed up, how the hell can they ban us from signing players for 18 months, when the crime involves Gael Kakuta who plays for the reserves and not the first team. By all means give Chelsea a hefty fine I don’t mind that but a 2 transfer window ban is completely idiotic and a disgraceful act by Fifa. They probably woke up this morning thinking lets make an example of Chelsea and tarnish their reputation in the market abit more. Although I agree with most people here that this will help the youth team develop better and save us money, but just think for a second, by the time we can purchase again, 11 first team regulars will be in their 30′s, does that not scare you a little bit because ban or no ban, trophies or no trophies it doesn’t matter, what does matter is can we hold on to the top 4 spot til Jan 2011??

65. debs - 31st Aug

hey BC, just wna say THANKS MAN THIS SITE’S THE BOMB!
ive nv posted (much) but have been watching this site for years!
its better than the official chelsea blog

:)

66. CFCIR - 31st Aug

We really needed a young Mid for covering Ballack/Lamps/Deco in the future. At 2011 most of our squad will cross 30s.
It really concern me ,because this ban will make our team too old at 2011.To be honest our youth policy is really bad ,i dont want something like Arsenal ,but we should make 2 or 3 youth players into first team regular. It take long time to produce good players from youth academy.I hope the ban reduce to one year .

67. heyjose - 31st Aug

if this had happened to manu whole world would have come in support of manu this is unfair how can they ask gael kakuta to pay 680000 dolars totaly unfair eal madrid should be punished first of all

68. Malagantz - 31st Aug

Would you be surprised if the 6 + 5 rule came into effect next summer? Damn you Platini stop making Chelsea your example of authority! FFS it’s 2 transfer windows for a player who only plays in the reserves who are you kidding?

69. kuhulai - 31st Aug

..one question guys.. we can still offload player and sell we just cant sign? or whats the real deal of this sanction?

70. John Stewart - 31st Aug

We just can’t sign but their isn’t anyone we want to offload now is there?

I hope this means the players will work harder knowing that no one will take their jobs or will it be the reverse?
