Fantasy league is here! By popular request. You know about my fantasy league fanaticism. I always start fantasy leagues with lots of enthusiasm. And then it slowly dies down over the next few weeks. There can always be a new beginning for anything and everything. Look at Malouda. Okay then, I have set up a fantasy football league. There are million sites that offer fantasy football. I chose the most authentic, reliable, stable of all sites. That’s the mother of all football sites. Yup, it is in the official website of the premier league – www.premierleague.com – it as doesn’t get better than that. To put things in perspective, there are about 900,000 players that play in the fantasy league in the official website of the premier league. Enough said.
By the way, I don’t get any money or brownie
points for starting the league in this particular website. I chose this only because, as I said, this is the most authentic, reliable and stable of all sites when it comes to premier league football. Plus, the scoring system of the fantasy league in this site is just brilliant. It does look at a lot of details that other fantasy leagues won’t. I’m guessing that this is possible for premierleague.com because they have a tie-up with OptaStats who give them all sorts of stats for all the players within hours after the match has ended. Just look at the scoring rules here. There are many more rules than the ones in the box here. For instance, if your player gets a red card, you get -3 and also will be punished if your team conceded after your player got a red card. That’s wicked, isn’t it?
There is also a fantasy stats page which keeps updating the various statistics of all players on a continuous basis so that they help in your ongoing team selection and re0rganisation. And there is this pundit page, if you need one, where there are interesting commentary of upcoming matchdays. If you get lost or need help, there is an elaborate help page too. And for people like me and Zaneeb, we can also manage our team on the mobile on wap.fantasy.premierleague.com!
And now, typically, the name of our league is BlueChampions League. The code to join this league is 897502-183475. And the team to beat is, ‘BlueChampions’. You guessed it, the ‘BlueChampions’ team is owned and managed by me. And that’s why it is the team to beat :-) Here is the BlueChampions team. A team that used up the budget of 100m pounds. I have three Chelsea players there. I’ve got Anelka and Drogba as the strikers because I have a lot of faith in our two-striker formation and I’m sure these two gentlemen will rake in goals and assists. I wanted to get Lampard somehow but he is way too expensive and would have made the rest of the team weaker. Anyway, here it is. Please do comment.
I think this is a very good team. I’ve got a good keeper. I’ve got a very dependable back four. The midfield is made up of players who are very key in the midfield of their respective teams. And then comes the deadly duo of Anelka and Drogba.
Even in the subs, I have Crouch who I think would be a star with Spurs. I almost signed up Darren Bent because I think he would shine in Sunderland but I went with the Robot. Given is a good first team keeper and I have him in the subs. Delap always plays for his team as long as he is fit because he is a big weapon for his team. Shawcross is a blind guess, I must admit. He is doing good for Stoke anyways. So,that’s the BlueChampions team. Team to beat? Nah, I’m prepared to see my team in the bottom half within a few weeks to be honest :-)
What I plan to do is to write in the blog about the updates on the fantasy league. If I don’t do it, please take the responsibility of reminding me. What normally happens is that some of the real football situations get so serious that it becomes silly to write something lighter at that moment. But we’ll have a fantasy league update that runs separately within the blog. In terms of administrating the fantasy league or writing in the blog about the fantasy league updates, I might take the help from one or some of you if things get little too heavy. Hope you won’t mind it.
When you do sign-up for the fantasy league on the premier league site, what you also get is an entry into the football prediction game – I Know The Score. This bit is very neat. All it takes is to fill it in with your prediction and you get your scores after the matches are over. This builds on every week and then if you scored the maximum points at the end of the season, you get to replace Mark Lawrenson in BBC as the official predictor (of course you know it’s a lie).
Let’s be serious. There are prizes to be won. They are indeed juicy!
1st Prize – The overall winner of Fantasy Premier League 2009/10 will win a VIP trip for two to a Barclays Premier League match (the identity of which is determined by The Premier League) featuring a team of the successful player’s choice. The Winner’s Prize includes travel, two nights’ hotel accommodation, two match tickets, pre-match meal and £250 spending money.
Monthly Prize – This season the person who finishes top of the monthly leaderboard will be declared Manager of the Month and will win a digital camera, an mp3 player, and a Premier League club replica kit of the Winner’s choice.
More than the prize, fantasy leagues are all about the fun, that little banter, that one-upmanship and such. So, sign up already. The vital info/links are here. The name of the mini-league: BlueChampions League. The joiners’ code: 897502-183475. Here is the SIGN-UP page for Fantasy Premier League & here is the RULES page of this fantasy league.
The biggest challenge for me and you, is to keep this fantasy league going. To be able to sustain this and enjoy while we do it. As a concept, fantasy league is certainly fun. If not anything, it keeps you fully aware of who’s hot and who’s not in the premier league. Let’s go with the flow!

get lampard if your gonna get a chelsea player. Lampard, gerrard and ronaldo were the best buys for the fantasy league for the last 4 years. Ronaldo is gone but the other two are great picks.
Get goal scoring midfielder or ones who make lots of assists. Geovanni was good at the start of last season but tailed off. Ireland is probably the pick of the manCity midfielders.
For defenders, get ones from teams who get clean sheets. Teams like bolton, fulham, liverpool, chelsea and manU are great picks. Also grab the fullbacks over the centrebacks since they get assists and goals more often then centre backs do. The more attacking fullbacks are better, johnson, bosingwa, evra and bridge should be solid if expensive buys.
For goalie the pick would probably go to either given or the cech/reina if you want a guaranteed good keeper.
Very hard to make a team of super stars but key is making a team that maximizes points, in terms of midfielders the DM’s are a waste because they dont score or assist very often.
With strikers get you favourite ones, try to pick strikers that play by themselves. Im gambling on bent, he has a good record but lack of constant game time at tottenham made him a bad buy. at 7 he is pretty cheap and could do well at sunderland.
Thanks ish. That’s a good tip. How would you rate my team? As you know, I’m not neither an expert nor a veteran of fantasy leagues. By the way, are you signing up?
this is gonna be awesome!
cant wait to join
good idea BC (Y)
Yeah great idea BC! ;-) I will still keep my league up for S&G but I will glady join up – Let the debates on top FL teams begin. I will sign up shortly.
you like goal.com or not, sometimes it also publishes some pleasant news for us.

Ancelotti isn’t going to give up his successful ‘diamond’ without a fight…….
so be it, he deserves to put a little italian into our team if it’s what he really wants
we gave the same chances to such an unexperienced coach last year
I have joined the league, and it is nice to see familiar faces in there. My team is KarmaCW FC…i am excited about this, let us have fun!
i did join too. gl!

How is this player. I have never tracked him ..
Ahhh….. Thank you BC, I’m a regular fan of http://www.premierleague.com for a long time and was feeling lonely do it.
I cannot believe I’m so excited about the upcoming season opener, I’ve filled up the beers, crackers and some nachos. My kind of weekend is back :) …. First of, Charity Shields… I’m not a big fan of the trophy but beating MU for the first game is crucial for the morale and confidences. KTBFFH!!!
Scott Sinclair has joined Wigan on a season long loan, good on the lad, he can get some vital first team premier league expereince from this and it can only help him further develop into a good player. I kind of get the impression that Chelsea are done buying for this season, unless they pull something major out of the hat on the last day of the season but besides that I don’t think we will be welcoming new faces to the bridge. Huntellar has joined Milan, Aquilani has joined Liverpool and as we know Pirlo has committed his future to Milan. Ribery joining Chelsea looks slimmer then ever and Aguero is being priced out, so one has to wonder – this is it really right??
comment on this team plzzzz

Great BC, what an idea to team up all the blues for the fantasy league.
I played my maiden fantasy team the last year and was ecstatic to score 1999. This year it would be more interesting competing with many of the blue mates.
BC, it was too honest of you to share your team with us. I wouldn’t have done that. Nice team though.
Scott Sinclair, Di Santo all for loan, Joe injured : Its for sure that chelsea is aiming a ‘marquee’ striker. Well, had anyone come across ’40m + deco’ for an Aguero swoop ?.
Hey,
Nice concept on the fantasy footie. Will be joining soon.
Meanwhile can we just bury this aguero foolishness. Hello, the guy’s short and is not one of the top 5 strikers in spain. What will he offer us that Di Santo wont. Plus, 50m? Someone’s been smoking janjaweed
aguero will one of the greatest. 50 mil for him i dont care i wanna se a striker like him or pato this season at chelsea.
Good initiative to bring more fun to this forum.!! BC, if you remeber I have said long before that we should be having one such league :P. I feel playing fantasy priemier league does take quite a bit of time and is much longer, hence I normally stick to fantasy league of Champions league. Champions league is more fun, because you are always looking at big names , more names and more pride in scoring points. BC you have already done a great job in creating a league for EPL but can you do that for champions league as well. I feel playing fantasy champions league is more fun, and you have often more time to make substitutions and more critical the decisions you make due to limited matches :P.
Well the mother of all fantasy Champions league is in the official site “www.uefa.com” hold on, howeever, this season fantasy seems not to have started yet. BC let me know if you can create a new post on the UCL fantasy league , anway i will post the name of the league as a comment. :P.
hey BC after every week you should post results and the league table. good luck everyone who is playing.
heres my team

Sweet, I’m in, I’m the Juggernauts. Should be a fun league!

i see that we are alining our selves to buy atleast one new striker.. i suspect that pizarro is gone so is sheva….
I hate this .. I don’t want Essien to go.. This is too much .. Bring back Hiddink , we can win anything with the existing team , just one striker is needed to cover drogba ..
http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/86/italy/2009/08/06/1426500/milan-slam-chelseas-persistence-following-addition-of-essien
i dont believe it essien is not 4 sale heis too crazy 4 pirlo forget pirlo once in 4 all
lets believe this is a false story everything will be clarified till this weekend
Yeah we seem to be making way for someone almost as if its already happened. All we need is another strong striker and we will be there at the end of the season. We have the ammo to win it this year I can feel it…. VERY worried about the Essien story surely its just paper talk and a load of bull I certainly hope so coz Mr A will not have many friends if we loose Essien for some old geezer who is an Ancelloti favourite….
Blue forever
Jools
no newspaper in eng has this rubbish news he only said as in tribal football .com new offer was made but no essien is mentioned in that story
//www.corrieredellosport.it/
no such news on this link
This shouldn’t be happening!
I would not even swap CR7 for Essien. I think if Essien leaves, i would surely retire of being a fan of Chelsea coz’ i’m getting tired of these transfer sagas.

Adrian Del Monte, Goal.com USA has a small moldy knob cheese in his pants
We all know Milan are bunch of liars. They don´t want to sell Pirlo, and now they just want to destroy togetherness of our team by telling press a lie. Essien for Pirlo? haha, its like exchanging buffalo for a chicken. Essien is our one of the living legend; Milan just want to make a loud noise, get their names on press for wrong things, and we know what type of site goal.com is, they all are manure fans, and they are trying their best to destroy chelsea image.
besides Chelsea is not a club that needs to sell its best players to buy new ones. we are not poor and bankrupt like milan. So don´t worry guys. its just a false rumour that milan conspired against us.
[[quote comment="74876"]besides Chelsea is not a club that needs to sell its best players to buy new ones. we are not poor and bankrupt like milan. So don´t worry guys. its just a false rumour that milan conspired against us.[/quote]
i agree with this
Milan are known for their stupidity and shrewd comments and my take on all this is that we did offer Micheal, but it wasn’t Essien instead it was Mancienne. As we all know Chelsea wanted to offer Pizzaro + cash + Mancienne on a lon but instead they must of offered him permenently and Burcelloni (or whatever his name is) has misunderstood the whole thing. He must be crazy to think we would offer Essien for Pirlo, he is 4 times more worth then Pirlo in the current transfer market. Essien is worth alteast £45M if not more + he is 26 and Pirlo pushing close to 31, stupid italian president!!
Of course we can manage bc.:-)..
Essien as a bait for pirlo..lol..
Berlusconi is a true polititian…
We are done with transfers. No more Aguero or pirlo. I guess its a sensible decision.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=665768&sec=transfers&cc=5901
Im also glad to hear that were done with the transfers, the team is strong enough as they stand and Chelsea have done the sensible thing by sending out some important youngsters on loan to good clubs. This will help them acheive good expereince and who knows maybe in 2/3 years time we might have our own Aguero’s and Pato’s and Messi’s in the likes on Di Santo, Sturridge and Sinclair. The only thing I would of liked to change in our current team is replace Deco with Sneijder, now that would of been something special.
Not too great news but not bad either to hear that we’re done with transfers. As much as i like the marquee signing i understand that Chelsea have put in the necessary efforts to get our targets but we’ve failed in as many bids either because of astronomical values of players, players snubbing Chelsea for other teams, yeah snubbing! or players demanding unthinkable or nonsensical wages which my Great Chelsea has stood firm to resist. We’ve got the players available to our beloved Chelsea, I mean players who really want to play for Chelsea (Never mind the ”earlier” coments of Zirkov prefering to play for Barca, his blood changed to blue before he got here and it will remain blue) and win trophies.
Now as much as i like Aguero to be our marquee signing I felt very disappointed to hear his wage demands of 200,000 pounds after tax per week (That will be about 300,000 pounds per week before taxt, double what Lamps get at the moment). I bet u the boy doesn’t want to play for Chelsea. His heart can not turn blue with this kind of demands. What will be the next demand after two or three seasons at Chelsea when he will probably hit form? Another rocket high wage followed by a move either to Madrid or etc.?
Honestly I’m glad Chelsea have shunned this move plus the other marquee signings. Our squad is already great and i believe Ancelloti can drive us on smoothly to a treble this season with our new diamond formation.
Lets not give a great deal about the Carling cup, I believe our reserves can lift that trophy. There’re great talents in there at the reserves, I love watching Kakuta and that guy has got really hot talents to be our Lionel Messy. He should be featured for carling cup this season, He is our marquee signing for 2 seasons to come.
Don’t mind the news about Essien being part of a swap deal for Pirlo, it’s just a blatant lie, Millan would’ve jumped to the deal by now.
KTBFFH
Hi Guys,
I ve just joined the BlueChampions league. My team is BlueStars FC. Nice to see so many guys have signed up for the league
My team for the 1st gameweek is as below
1: Schwarzer [Fulham]–GK
2: Carragher [Liverpool]–Def
3: Faye Ab [Stoke City]–Def
4: Terry [Chelsea]–Def
5: Neville [Everton]–Mid
6: Malbranque [Sunderland]–Mid
7: Murphy [Fulham]–Mid
8: Lampard (C) [Chelsea]–Mid
9: Davies [Bolton]–Striker
10: Agbonlahor [Aston Villa]–Striker
11: Rooney [Man Utd]–Striker
Subs
——
12: Sorensen [Stoke City]–GK
13: Figueroa [Wigan]–Def
14: Geovanni [Hull City]–Mid
15: Zayatte [Hull City]–Def
I m hoping for Lamps to have another 20 goal plus 20 assists season..Hes my captain:)
I m happy that we are done with the spending..I wanted to see Tevez and Robben play for us..Tevez is gone and theres no news of Robben..Theres no sense competing in the over inflated market and paying well over the odds for players.
Providing we stay injury free, we are a VERY VERY strong team..The present squad is filled with superstars and they have a couple of good seasons left in them. The ACN in Jan could hurt us with DD, Kalou, Essien n Mikel leaving for a month..Hope Ancelloti has all those factors covered in his overall plans for the season.
The game against Man Utd will give us a good indication of the progress we ve made under Ancelloti. Beating Man utd will be the perfect boost to take into the new season. The game should be taken seriously and If possible, we should give Man Utd a good trashing..I still haven’t recovered from our 3-0 Humiliation at Old Trafford under Scolari. Time for some revenge
Cmon Chelsea…

Calling him “burcelloni” made me almost fall out of ma seat. he is a lieing bastard. He loves to manipulate mass media. shit he owns the mass media lol
and ur comment on Sneijder gettin traded to us for the Brazilian reject, I couldn’t have said it better. I thought Sneijder had signed for Inter but I guess I was wrong.
Of topic, JM, saying CFC is pricing out inter of Deco and carvalho! Why would they give up these to players for free or a reduced price?????? Plus inter did the trade of the decade so they can afford him not them. I don’t want Ricky to leave.
Since we are on the Fantasy Football subject! Last year how were your points effected by playing H2H?
I know for many this is the 1st time playing this EPL Fantasy game (or FF at all for that matter) but for those of you who are veterans I was wondering if there were any other players like me last year who’s point score was hurt by trying to win your Head to Head League?
2 years ago in another very competitive league I placed 3rd (very close to 2nd) because there was only one game type to play (Standard game). Last year with the Head to Head version played with the same team I found I had to make big decisions to clinch my head to head top spot. In doing so I dropped pretty big in the standings (15th or so as I remember).
I can say this now pretty firmly from my last year experience – both games are played very differently. And if you are serious about placing well in one don’t play the other with the same team.
Speaking of which.. Anyone know of a competitive H2H league that has a slot open or an IKTS league?
All the ones I can find of those are sh!et.
It’s been 3 years since Chelsea won the title and 3 years running have those Red dogs and Sralex revelled in our instability.
Let this be our season !!!
No more signings?then y sent disanto out..we should have sold pizarro instead of loaning him out…

Sent on a phone using T9space.com
make a bluechampion head2head league aswell….its a new thing with people in a mini league going againast eachother..that would be fun…
BC Champions The joiners’ code: 897502-183475 is wrong. Each time i tried to join, this is the message i get “Sorry, you have entered an invalid mini-league code”. Pls. how can this problem be resolved
