John Terry commits to Blues, the darker shade that is!
This is what we have been waiting for. John Terry has finally broken his silence – with some good news. He has really put the whole thing to rest. He is not leaving Chelsea for any club. This is published in the official website. This is such a big boost for Chelsea FC. The Chelsea revolution had only begun when TSO won us those titles. We need strong characters such as John Terry to keep the dream alive and complete the true revolution as Roman envisioned. Now that’s another one of those snubs for Man City. Now Mark Hughes can start looking at a ‘poor man’s John Terry’ (football-wise, otherwise such an irony for Citeh).
Here is the verbatim of the statement from John Terry:
There has been a lot of speculation recently about my future and I want to clear this up once and for all. I am totally committed to Chelsea and always have been. Chelsea have also made it clear to me consistently that there was never any intention to accept any kind of offer. When you are linked with any club, or with a manager who I have huge respect for, it will always make headlines but me leaving Chelsea was never a possibility.
I know there has been comment that I should have made a statement earlier. However, throughout this period there have been numerous discussions between myself, the owner and the Chelsea Board and we all agreed that the timing of any statement would suit everyone involved in those talks, not any outside influences or agendas.
What is clear to me following those discussions is that Chelsea’s ambition remains as high as ever. This has been further proved by the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti. I am certain that he will take this club on to the next level. Another important factor was knowing that Chelsea would be securing key current players for the long term. The strengthening of the squad around this core is crucial to pushing us onto greater success. I am as committed as ever to helping drive Chelsea forward and I will be proud to lead the team for as long as I can.
I’ve gone through this statement in various emotions which have led me to different conclusions before settling down with a very reasonable one.
The Optimist in me says:
Fantastic news! JT stays! This is exactly the news I have been waiting for. And he has made it so clear that he is not leaving Chelsea. He’s also given some important hints like how much he supports the new manager and about strengthening of the squad. If he is not leaving at this age and stage, probably he is not going to think about leaving in future as well. He is totally committed. Totally.
The Pessimist in me says:
He has stated his commitment all right but there are some loose ends in his statement. Firstly, his rationale for his delayed response is pretty weak. It is very obvious that Terry, Roman and the board have had some discussions about his transfer status, which is something I don’t want to believe. He also says that those discussions have made him understand the status of Chelsea’s ambitions. I wouldn’t mind if Zhirkov had said this, but John Terry? Basically, I’m sad that he had to be convinced to stay. If you have the eye for the details, you’d notice a overwhelming ‘presentness’ about his stance than ‘futureness’. Do you know what I mean?
The Pragmatist in me says:
He is totally committed. That does not mean he ‘will be’ totally committed. The reality is, he is staying with Chelsea for the 09-10 season. Anything else is hope.
I rest my case.

Terry Is Always our Mr. Chelsea……………..No $$ Money can take terry from CHELSEA…

Sorry ..I forgot my gravatar User Name…..Just Testing….
I am disappointed that he had to be convinced to stay. What the hell did he mean by he did not understand the club’s ambition. He is the fucking captain and is supposed to be the most thoughtful player in our squad. I am disappointed with him………. extremely!
BC, you are so cool. the way u put together these articles.
now on this Man city flirt with JT, wit time it will all be forgotten. He is a winner and I love him to death when he is on the pitch, but and thats a big BUT, he is like everybody else. I guess he also have family to feed lol.
i think it’s great news.
Chelsea win the world championship defeating club america 2-0.
Disanto and Maluda scored , both in the second half. Each of the provided the cross to the other.
It was a interesting side that started the first half –
Hilario, Mancienne, Carvalho, Alex, Sam Hutichinson, Essien, Maluda, Sinclair, deco, kaluo and Sturridge..
In the second half, Disanto, Sheva, Turnbull came for Sturridge, Hilario and Sinclair. Later Pizza, Ivanovic and Ashley came for Kaluo, Hutichinson and Mancienne..
I ACCEPT THIS NEWS WITHOUT MUCH ENTHUSIASM….HE IS A FUCKER…HE HAS TO BE CONVINCED TO STAY…PRETTY FOOLISH FOR A CAPTAIN
terry stays dont feel like reading too much into it although he says more on he tv interview later…….check it out!!
well we definitely need a new and young attack or central midfielder as an understudy for lampard and cover for the african nations because mikel and essien wont be there with us for a month or so!!
new young striker and a couple of young (non african) midfielders PLEASE!!
todays match was good di santo on the score sheet atlast m happy fr him (loved his celebration – he had eyes only for the skipper) and malouda was gr8 again!! so 2-0 it was and yeah good american tour!!
desperately need new and younger players for depth because of the african nations cup and injury scares our midfield with – lampard – 31, essien – 27, ballack – 32, deco – 33, mikel – 22, malouda – 29, joe cole – 28 (if and wen fit) is old and will be without the key players so thts a major concern for me we need ATTENTION there!!
looking fwd to the season and new signings (soooo hopeful, wish someone from the chelsea hierarchy read our comments!!)
we shouldnt rely on the “milan lab theory” pls buy younger guys we need depth and cover!! aaargh
true blue – the season is ours!!
cheers
I am happy that JT stays; the legend prevails!
There are alot of version of stories on the delay of Terry’s much anticipated statement, however, I for one, choose to believe that the delay was due to the discussion of the extension of contract of players such as Mikel, Malouda, Drogba and a few others. I do think that is far enough as we needed more stability in the team more long term commitment from the squad.
With Manchester City still flirting with money, I do believe that it is extremely hard for anyone to sign another Marquees signing at this stage. However, if possible, it would be great if we could add a few more youngster to the under-18 side.
KTBFFH!!!!
terry’s comittment was never in doubt he was just being a true captain, when city came for him he used the leverage to secure the future of his teammates and assurances from roman that he will not be bored with chelsea anytime soon.
this is what terry said:
“Chelsea captain John Terry has claimed that the recent uncertainty over his future was not because he was looking for a new contract.
The England defender yesterday ended speculation over his future by releasing a statement in which he made it clear he wanted to remain at Chelsea in favour of a move to big-spending Manchester City.
Now Terry has revealed his talks with club owner Roman Abramovich were not about getting a new deal but to get assurances over the futures of his team-mates.Terry said: ‘It’s never been about a new deal, we’ve never spoken about a new contact over the past five weeks.
‘It’s never been about a new deal for John Terry. I’ve got three years left on my contract.
‘I’ve been at Chelsea 14 years now and I aim to finish my career here.’
Terry said he was more concerned about keeping the current team together, holding on to players like England team-mate Frank Lampard.
‘I want these kind of players around me and I want these kind of players at Chelsea Football Club.’
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti welcomed Terry’s announcement as good news. He said:’ The club and the fans are happy. ‘I said John Terry had to stay.”
..great results.
even if its pre-season am glad we played well and everyone got a shot at showcasing their talent. So far the boss have been great, starting diff ppl, saying the right stuff in the interview room and so on.
lets keep this winningstreak now.
if we can add Ashley young or the likes to the squad that would be really cool, if not then am very confident wit our current team. Whats the deal wit the young Serbian midfielder? anyone??
Hi guys, I’m here from the Daily Mirror to promote the launch of our new 2009/10 Fantasy football site. Bigger and better than ever before, if you register before midnight tonight and only before midnight tonight, teams can get free entry. With the top prize being £75,000 and a full spread of £150,000 there is nothing to lose so get playing :)
The current team is very strong as it stands and the formula to winning trophies is to play to the squad’s strenghts and not change a whole lot. Therefore I dont think we need to add alot to our current squad, the most we can add to this squad is perhaps 1 creative midfeilder and 1 striker. I think Deco, Pizzaro, Sheva, Minerio and Belletti are fringe players and if we sell them now then there is still a chance of getting something in the region of £20M. The creative Midfeilder could be Sneijder / Ribery / Ben Arfa / Shweinsteiger and the Striker could be Villa / Pato / Aguero / Huntellar / Rossi. There are some expensive names involved there but with the current madness in the transfer market there are not many cheap and good players available.

It’s working!
Comments.
Bluechampion,
I understand ur need to be objective. To set a magnifying glass to both sides of the coin in every issue that concerns Chelsea, but seriously, this is Terry. This is Chelsea. End of story.
We have our guy and we’ll keep him for a long time.
Brief comment on Carlo and the Diamond
Okay with the team we’ve got 41212 looks like something that shld work for us, against all of the premiership except may be Liverpool and Man U on a day Sir ferguson decides to let off on scotch. Since we dnt need to beat either of these 2 home and away to win the premiership then I’ll say we can give it a go.
However, I hope Carlo will smell the coffee before it brews over if it starts to boil. I hope he wnt go comatose like a certain scolari. Let’s give it a go bt he shld revert or change b4 the fans realise it’s not working. If he can do that then no problem. Anyway, I guess, I’m just scared of change
Meanwhile, have u guys noticed how the press have been playing up our ‘possession football’ since the US tour.
They are at it again as if there has ever a period during this revolution that we did not dictate the pace. They are just dying for an Arsenal brand of play and they will not get it. They got into Scolari’s head so much, we had plenty possession no profit.
These journalists shld take there love for beautiful football to la liga.
Anyone get to catch the Chelsea – Club America game? It was basically a near full Chelsea 2nd string w/ Essien and Malouda (and either Alex or Carvalho) as regular top XI starters playing.
DiSanto got to play a full 2nd half (as opposed to the standard 88th minute subbing he normal gets) and it worked out well for him. Both Malouda and him teamed up for 1 goal and 1 assist a piece.
I’m really glad DiSanto got a pre-season goal. His goal was a classic ‘hungry striker’ goal. Hutchison and Mancienne looked good as well and I love the way Sinclair attacks. He will moved through 2 or even 3 players sometimes. He doesn’t usually succeed mind you but his confidence is very impressive. Sheva has no-speed and had his traditional Chelsea ‘moments of near brilliance’ but never came through as usual and Deco filling Lamps role was a joke.
The score ended 2-0 to Chelsea but it should have been more like 4-1. the post lost some paint on both sides.
And one final note:
Say what you want about American Football but that new Dallas Cowboy stadium should be on the man made wonders of the world list. F’ing amazing!
America should host the World Cup every 8 years just to have the final played in that stadium alone.
