Carlo Ancelotti – The new Chelsea manager!

carlo-ancelotti-chelsea

The Italian connection is back. Carlo Ancelotti is our new manager. This does not come as a surprise. Rumours around his taking over Chelsea have been going around for some months now. The topic of Ancelotti managing Chelsea has never been a cheerful topic among the Chelsea fans. He does not quite divide the house but it’s fair to say that he does not seem to have a huge fan following among the Chelsea fans. I’ve always seen Chelsea fans either hating the sight of him as the Chelsea manager or simply hoping that he comes good.

Carlo Ancelotti's appointment as the new Chelsea manager

His appointment has caused mixed reactions. I’m a bit indifferent at the moment. I belong to the ‘I hope he comes good’ category. He has the pedigree. He has the track record. He has the personality. Still, there is something about him that does not make me gung-ho. To be honest, that’s how even Guus Hiddink appeared initially and now I love him so much. All that I want Ancelotti to do is to keep the pride of Chelsea while trying to win the trophies.

In two seasons, we have seen Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti. Certainly not anyone’s idea of stability. When Scolari was brought in, there was a lot of club talk about stability and time, but when the shit hit the fan, Roman called the bluff. So Ancelotti should clearly know what’s expected of him. We might say that stability is the need of the hour; the players might want a long-term manager and the club’s image would also need the manager to see out his contract, but, if the results are not there, you’re out. As simple as that. Remember, it’s again a three-year contract!

If you look at his CV, it’s hard not to raise certain questions. In his seasons at Milan, he has won the Serie A only once! That’s the only league title he has won in all of his 14 years of coaching. But what must have impressed Roman is that he has won the champions league twice during this period. I’ve told you many times that if you’re going to offer me champions league and premier league, I’d happily take the latter. The club seems to get obsessive about the champions league. That’s the only way to explain this appointment. See, Ancelotti’s career as a player and manager has all been in Italy only. He has managed Milan in Italy for 8 years and has won one Serie A title! I’d even call that poor. But he is in special company with two champions league titles.

I have some really unpleasant memories of Ancelotti. First, his champions league final defeat to Liverpool. That was simply unbelievable and unpardonable. And then, his Milan team succumbing to the Arsenal team in the champions league couple of seasons back. There were some great matches too. Especially the way Milan despatched Man Utd in the champions league semi final was a treat to watch. In Milan, he has certainly drawn a lot of criticism for his tactics. He is known for his obsession for the 4-3-2-1 (christmas tree formation) which made the team more defensive and less adventurous. Would he continue with Chelsea’s successful 4-3-3?

I’d feel more confident if Ancelotti could bring in a few exciting names to Chelsea. I see rumours on Ribery, Kaka and the like. I’d love to see Ribery play for us. Imagine Ribery and Joe Cole playing in the left and right respectively! It would be great, isn’t it? As I know a thing or two about rumours, I won’t build up my hopes. Whatever said and done, Essien is not leaving anywhere. He is a Chelsea player, he would remain to be so. Like with any new Chelsea manager, the least he could do is to cause a mess by distorting rather than improving what’s already working well. I’ll wait for Carlo to settle down, use the three months of transfer window wisely and start the campaign strongly.

We always wanted a manager who can speak English. When Hiddink joined, I was pleasantly surprised by his command of the language. Ancelotti is still learning to speak English. Not sure if he was inspired by Jose Mourinho’s interview in Italian on his day one, Carlo has given his first interview in English in the club website. He does not sound like a great media communicator, at least in English. But his interview has some key points which I want to mention here.

Tell us about your approach to management, your philosophy?

It’s not easy to speak about my philosophy even in Italian so it’s more difficult to speak in English, but I try. I like to be close with the players, close with the company. I like to speak with the people. I believe in teamwork. It’s the most important thing to create a group that work together to build a dream. For me this is the most important thing. The players and the company to have a strong organisation, very strong discipline, to have the right motivation. I hope to do this together because this is the right way to arrive to success.

And in terms of football on the field, are you a coach that has a system you take with you wherever, Reggiana, Parma, Juve, Milan — do you take that system, do you play a certain way in tactics and formations?

I change it, not every year, but I change it depending on the characteristic of the players, it depends. For example in Juventus there was Zidane, he was an offensive midfielder and I built the team for Zidane. First you have to know the characteristics of the players and after you can put a system for the players.

So to you personally, what qualities do you think you will bring to Chelsea football club as a coach?

I want to bring my experience, I want to bring my individual quality. I think to win is important. I think to work together is the most important thing to win. To have great motivation and have a right objective. But in Chelsea it’s easy to find objectives. Win the Champions League, win the Premier League, win FA Cup, win Carling Cup. To win all is naturally not easy, but the right way is to create a group of people that work well together.

These responses speak a lot about himself, his methods and his idea of the job on hand. Sounds promising!

We are back to the business of ‘giving time’ to our new coach. As much as I want to give him time, he must know that his official match would be against the defending champions Manchester United. Would be great if he starts of by beating the title holders.

We are at that time of the year when we talk about ‘giving time’ to our new manager before we judge him. As much as I want to give him time, he must know that his first official match is against the defending champions Manchester United. That shows how much time he has. Let’s cut the crap. You don’t get settling time at this level. Just start delivering already.

Anyway, let’s all very warmly welcome Carlo Ancelotti! May his season be filled with trophies!

I’m liking how he has more experience than our last managers
Not too sure about him not bringing any of his staff over (hope Wilkins knows some italian from his playing days or something)

I’ve got nothing but optimism for our next season

What’s the budget for summer looking like (not that I want much change in the squad)?

A very critical but yet almost forgiving post BC.

I mention before that CA may bring success to Chelsea but at what priced will the question of the day. I so worried about him bring in some Milan faces or SeriaA faces that might not suit the Premier League. For some reasons, the French league seems to produce some good quality bargains for the English clubs. I do hope he has good eye and scouting skills, but then again we still have Guus behind close doors making recommendations. I think the key for our next season lies in the pre-season matches. I will built fitness and gel the original Chelsea with the new intakes and at the same time, fix all there is to fix. But we are unlikely to know the real level until we play Manchester United. I’m also excited if there’s any youngsters getting promoted to the seniors but the hope is slim as I do think that CA will play safe because a strong start is almost a prerequisite for title challengers. Like BC said, we should back CA all the way unless he decided to do a Scolari on us, else lets give him till Christmas (LFS did manage to get to January-end) and then judge him. KTBFFH!!!

now i have some doubts about the new singnings what do we need .by the way i know the pizarro is coming i know that he played really bad when heas here but he has score more than 20 goal so i think he deserves another opportiunity i hope he will be in shape .

4. jaxk - 1st Jun

well i think he will do it well but i have some doubts about the signings moreover i know pizarro is coming i think he deserves another opportiunity i could not see him in bremen but i’ve read that he did it weel he scored more than 20 goals i hope he will do the same at least a half of it.!!

5. AGtallk - 1st Jun

i give him 5-6 games

6. TruePlatinum - 1st Jun

Firstly I’m very shocked
but logically, considering we did approach milan for him last year, it makes sense

Ancelotti has done nothing in serie a, but the flipside to that, is neither did the board of ac milan

We will recognise the intentions of ancelotti over this month, im sure all signings he wants will be bought by then
after that, we just have to wait for the start of the season
I can’t see a major change, but you are probably looking at an increased british and italian population in the dressing room

I am neither hopeful nor doubtful, my gut instinct says nothing
so we shall simply have to wait and see

7. trueblue - 1st Jun

optimism is the key ……
we just have to wait and hope for the best . he can turn into a star at chelsea or remain for what he has achieved.

8. cfc - 1st Jun

Quoting AGtallk

i give him 5-6 games

Give him half a season.. In 6 games, Luis Felipe Scolari was a genius. Started the Premier League, Carling Cup and Champions League with 4-0 wins..
By dec, we will know about the real Ancellotti, must have played Man U , Liverpool and Arsenal at least once and the group stage of Champions League would be done by that time.

I am worried for Roman, this is his signing. So if it turns out bad , will he be dejected, or may be we will get back Hiddinck..

Transfer strategies should revolve noting that Essien, Obi Mikel & Drogba will be not be there in January for the African Nations Cup.. Hope we don’t play a big four team during that time. If we progress, then it will that time when Carling Cup Semi Finals are played.. There are rumours of Villa, Aguerro or Benezema .. I would prefer Aguerro or Benezema over Villa, because of their age it will be money well spend..

I am Ok with the Appointment because the guy needs to learn English to communicate and worse he has won the serie A only once.. For me , Premier League is also very important…

Here’s my take on Carlo Ancelotti. It seems like he is an Italian Rafa Benitez. Struggling to dominate his domestic league, but specializes on the European stage. I don’t understand how he let that 2005 final slip away like that, otherwise that’s 3 European Cups he would have. However, when I see how sad the Milan players are at his departure, it says something about how he binds with his players. I’m still now sure how to react with his appointment, since he did finish 2nd to Mourinho in the Serie A! You have to wonder if Chelsea can accept the coach who finished 10 points beneath the Special One. Then again, it’s widely understood that he wasn’t given the funds of the players he wanted, and just managed with whatever he had. Winning the premier league is a very difficult task, considering how strong overall the league is, with the middle tabled teams improving every year. Ancelotti’s tenure will be judged by how he fares against the like of Man Utd, Liverpool, etc. One thing I fear is Chelsea may struggle early on and things will quickly turn against him… being the manager of a club like this comes with a lot of pressure to succeed, and fast. The key for the fans I guess, is to remain positive and throw all your support behind him. It seems like Roman is determined to bring in the players we need, adding to an already strong squad. If you take into consideration the strong start Scolari had last year, and also how fast he was axed soon after that, I really wonder how Ancelotti will fare. I’m excited to see which players will be coming in, can’t wait until the new season begins!

12. Oh My Blue - 1st Jun

One forgets that it is Ancelotti who built the Rossoneri core. Kaka, Prilo, Gattuso are all Carlo’s signatures in Milan. However its true that he was not successful in serie A. You also had the Calciopoli. Then you have all the violence and mafia in the world on the streets of Sicily. Overall the atmosphere in Italy is more pathetic to play football. Given a new project to build, he can go back to his older days and deliver success in England.

But whatever he turns out to be, i am sure at least a couple of dickheads in UEFA would have put a forced smile given that we have a manager from the legacy club. :P

Kaka to Chelsea? Yet again , I don’t see what value can Kaka bring to Bridge.I beg to put the money on Ribery/Zhirkov.

14. cfc - 1st Jun

Am wondering, why does he reveal his formation ???

15. KarmaCW - 1st Jun

I, as a true Chelsea fan, would like to wish Carlo a very best of luck since he had already become our new manager. May his time at Chelsea be a very successful one for Chelsea and the like.

Have a look in here, this is my view on his appointment.

16. JoseHoliday - 1st Jun

Well . With the aquad we have we should be doing great at least for the next season, but with at least 2 signing that REALLY make an IMPACT Chelsea will be super.

CA will just have to make it happen !

Good luck CA, we are with you and will cheer the team on !

17. jabi - 1st Jun

KarmaCW, i totally don’t agree with you. Such things will influence badly the relations with CA.
As for GH, he’s a good coach, indeed, great coach, but he’s kinda old. If he’s to be our manager, he can be our manager only for half a decade or a little more before he retires. So, you like it or not, for now our future is with CA. Though i’m not his biggest fan, i hope he’s the right man. May Carletto have many many years of success at Chelsea and many many happy days especially during May of every year!

18. KarmaCW - 1st Jun

Thank you jabi for reading my views, but i have said that i would call it a game of 50:50 when it comes to whether CA is the right man or not for us. So, i feel that at last we speak the same thing. And i too join you in wishing him endless success at Chelsea. And of course his age is a big plus point over Golden Guus. Whatsoever, Chelsea is the best!

19. CFCIR - 1st Jun

He wants Pato and Glen Johnsen .Pato is good but with bosingwa and ivanovic ,buying a RB is pointless. We need more winger and dribblers.

20. Russell - 1st Jun

Nice post. Have to say I feel similarly about Ancelotti – his CV is a little mixed: stong European record versus weaker domestic. But perhaps the scandals played a part in that? Seems a strange appointment for Abramovich to have made – Roman supposedly wants stylish attacking football and I’m not sure Ancelotti’s the one to deliver it.

I suppose we’ll have to wait and see. Cool site this – if anyone wants to check out my (more amateur) attempts take a look at http://www.bridgeviews.co.uk

22. denver(denverblue) - 1st Jun

guys how about going got VDV or Snjider!!! seems we forgot about them.. as it seems Mardid might clear out!!! we could also go back in for Robben, even Huntalaar! eeh come guys tell me what you think…. just looking for options….instead of blowing those millions …..

23. GamingTheSystem - 1st Jun

As I’ve stated many times before CA was even on the table as an option – I’m hoping CA brings Pato (not Kaka). Kaka is extremely injury prone and I don’t think will gel well with the English game. Pato is young, energetic and can play behind the main striker or either wing if needed. If you’re gonna spend big money then put it on a younger guy that is currently proving himself.

My hunch is this:
Deal for Pato = snagging the future best player of the world
Deal for Kaka = Sheva fiasco part II

24. Julio - 1st Jun

we need more english players

25. denver(denverblue) - 1st Jun

u guys ever heard of Ibrahim Afellay… guys what im trying to say is … lets build our own stars.. not ready made ones!! we could use our links with PSV to get him just like we did Robben

26. heyjose - 1st Jun

i think we should give him time we need to rebuild we need players like pato or ribery or zhirkov to freshen up the squad no need of
pirlo and old players we have enough already

27. heyjose - 1st Jun

kaka is still young we wont be a sheva fiasco part surely but we can still look at other players because kaka will be expensive

28. GamingTheSystem - 1st Jun

Quoting denver(denverblue)

we could also go back in for Robben

bad idea IMO – he is older now and even more injury prone. We might get him cheaper but we would still have to pay a lot for his weekly salary and most of that time he is gonna be injured while he collects a paycheck.

Question is where are we the weakest?

Central defense? – no way we are good here. J.T. + 3 solid others we can rotate plus a strong youth in support.

Full Backs? – Ashely is playing better than ever and I think Bosingwa proved himself this year.

Holding midfield? – Essien and Mikel fill this in spades

Attacking Midfield? – Until Lamps stops scoring 20 goals a year I think we are fine.

Supporting Striker? – We are missing a good player that can play right behind the striker as his preferred role. Anelka sorta does this but I don’t think he likes it and plays way to deep when this is where he decides to play.

No – We are the weakest on wingers and currently (albeit sad to say) the man guarding the net. Cech is not looking anything like he used to.

29. CFCIR - 1st Jun

We need to buy,but wisely .every chelsea fan is dreaming of KAKA in chelsea shirt. But it will cost us too much.We can buy many players with that money.
VDV,Ben arfa,Zhirkov,Pato,Young… are on chelsea radars .Chelsea need new players.Chelsea need a great Bench in games.Just look at to our bench this year.It was our weakness.I hope chelsea Complete Transfer of Pizzaro and Sheva in order to use their cashes on new players.

30. denver(denverblue) - 1st Jun

Replying to GamingTheSystem: yeah but but 30 mill!! what will Di Santo think.. and i think that guy is a future star!!! we must turn him into one.. then we can say we made a star!!!

When I first heard of the rumors about Ancelotti I couldn’t believe it. I thought that would be the worst possible choice for CFC, especially after having the old fart (lfs) at the sideline for 7 month. Now that he is appointed and I am feeling ok wit it (not that there is anything I can do about it bleat like barka).
There is a few things I hope for wit the new boss, I don’t want to se a overhaul of the team. I don’t want Malouda to be sold nor DD. If we are nicking a player from AC, I hope its Alex Pato rather then kaka. I hope Ancelotti is smart enough not to change a working formula; I would go nuts if he tries to implement a new “beautiful” system a la LSF.
In the end of the day what makes the difference are the small things. That’s what Golden Guus did and hopefully that’s what Ancelotti will do. So am really looking forward to that. I know he haven’t won much in the league wit Milan but we are much better equipped to win the EPL then Milan was for serie A, at least for this past few seasons. I rate him higher then LFS even before he have started cause LSF didn’t actually do much on club level in Europe. If we make good signing and keep our backbone players there is no way in hell he will be as bad as lfs.
I wouldn’t want Kaka, Villa or some of the other big names that have been mentioned wit CFC. One player that I wouldn’t mind breaking the bank for is Ribery though. He is very creative strong and he is a winner, simply superb. In the matchup wit Barca he was the best player on the field, not that barka is the ultimate measure…

Transfer Progress:
KaKa to Real Madrid: The deal is almost done. (£60 million)
Gareth Barry to Man City: I think is done but awaiting OFFICIAL statement. (£12 million)

I think both are good news for me. One, Kaka is a great player but at that price… mmm…. no thanks. Second, Barry to City is actually better for the midfield as I think he will be a better player and better used at Man City than at Anfield. And with Liverpool not having him makes my smile much wider.

Our own transfer has been quiet down since CA’s appointment. Keeping my finger cross and hope the rumors are just pure BS….

33. IwasMissingJose - 1st Jun

Replying to CJ – 17th year CFC Extremely Happy Fan:

Well Chelsea has offered a bigger bid or Kaka, as Ancelloti wants this player at all the cost…..The only thing that keeps Kaka away from chelsea is a more than 9 million pounds a year salary. That means he would be earning as much as Jose.

34. Malagantz - 1st Jun

OH BOI OH BOI

this could be the biggest thing eva!

35. TruePlatinum - 1st Jun

i dont think kaka would fit in well here, his passing is supposedly exquisite but aside from knocking man utd out of the champs league 2 seasons ago, he has never truly shone, we have enough passers
i like the idea of having pato, we can then ship out kalou, my problem, like denver, is what happens to di santo, we should always look after our own before getting others
at chelsea, pato can take up that spot to unlock defences that we crave so badly, that ability to beat a man and draw another defender out of position has been lost since joey doesn’t do it regularly and malouda isnt quite there yet
im not sure about pato on the wing, i think he likes to be central

i have to say, absolutely no point buying glen, he is in no dimension better than bosingwa and we’ll only have space for him if we sell belletti and ferreira. A leftback is our priority right now

cant remember who said it, but joey and cech need competition for their position as that seems to spur them at the point where we need them most
so a back up goalie and winger are necessary, malouda cannot play on the right so if we buy zhirkov, that means another winger
unless ancelotti is considering pushing bosingwa up the field but even then, i don’t rate glen johnson as a rightback fit for chelsea, liverpool, man utd, but not chelsea

this is where newspapers get annoying
ive always been under the impression kaka will stay at milan for life, all this real talk sounds silly, first its valencia, then ronaldo, i think ronaldo will leave

Replying to IwasMissingJose:
The Kaka deal is officially done and Real Madrid will do the announcement very soon. It has been quiet on your side. Not even a bid was declared. Guess we might have some anxious moment in this summer’s transfer.

The problem is that Hiddink somehow managed to make Chelsea more “appealing” to neutral fans all over the world (and to press too) with his personality, one of the objectives Kenyon/Abramovich had (the other being self-sufficiency) and no one mentioned that here…but the moment Chelsea starts splashing millions for new coach and players all people are gonna remenber is that Chelsea bought some “instant success”.

41. cfc - 1st Jun

Kaka has scored 15 goals or so goals this season.. Not sure how many assists.. He may have one good season, where they won the Champions League. Lampard has scored 20 goals 4 or 5 seasons in a row. I think Ancelloti is behind Pato. 30 Million for a 19 year old is worth the money. Yeah, di santo , stoch etc will be put down, but this guy has scored consistently.

42. denver(denverblue) - 1st Jun

Replying to TruePlatinum: guys milan have Kaka we have Lampard.. simple lets not even think about kaka. I agree TruePlatinum Pato would be better in a central role if we do go for him…but why cant Di Santo be central too is he not good enough.??? i know he is give the kid a chance. what Ihave seen from Carlo is that he rotates…. so if Di Santo can get his runds in the CC FA and a few epl/cl fine… but for me he is good enough to get his 20-30 minutes.. then 60-90 minutes. how about a German keeper?? Manuel Neuer comes to mind, for the LB if we get Zhirkov fine … but I would get back Rajkovic.. but not buy a new player. we must buy smart, Kalou days seem to be numbered.
I dont want us to buy all the super stars of the world..we will only be hated more. I hope Carlo is a good man manager!!

44. cfc - 1st Jun

45 million for Pato .. Would we get Benezema for the same price ?? If so benezema would be better as more ideal replacement to didier..

45. BluesYank - 1st Jun

Pato is also a centre forward more than an out-and-out striker. He’s shorter than Di Santo and is miles quicker. He’s also played a good bit of first team. Di Santo will get his run outs during the ACN and League/FA Cup. This is what happens with all youngsters save those at teams hit very hard by injuries. Stoch will hopefully get some time. I’m also surprised everyone has forgotten about Scott Sinclair…he is a winger and apparently is an important part of the reserves team. He can play on both the right and left. Why not try him out some in the league cup?

If Pato is brought in, we don’t have space for Anelka. I think he is much maligned and not given his due. He plays completely out of position of where he wants to play but still works his butt off. However, with Di Santo, Pato and Ancelotti’s favored tactical formation, we dont have room for him. We hardly have the room for Pato and Di Santo to get substantial PT if Ancelotti keeps his favored formation.

Zhirks, Sturridge, Pato, Ashley Young please!, Rhys Taylor is a good backup from our reserve squad, and maybe a right-back. Haven’t looked up which tho.

Want to see Carv, Anelka, Ferreira, Belletti, Kalou, and I was hoping Ballack but nooo he had to sign a contract extension.

46. jabi - 1st Jun

this is crazy…
kaka might be the best player in the world(after lamps), but we don’t need him even if his prices was 40-50mln.

47. jabi - 1st Jun

but on the second thought, Kaka will make a HUGE impact! In such media concentrated league like EPL and in Chelsea this guy will have immense media background same as Chelsea. it’s 50/50

Replying to BluesYank:
I second your opinion on getting Ashley Young for the fact that he is English and his style of play may helps open up teams. If he stays in Villa this year I can see that he will be a hot property comes next summer with the likes of Man City, Inter and Real Madrid moving in. Danny Sturridge will also be a good one as his a natural out and out with strength and if goes under Didier as mentor, he might turn good.

Coming back to the Kaka saga, I was so hoping that Real Madrid announce the arrival of Kaka but I guess Peter Kenyon is out to redeem himself for Roman. And if this saga drags on, it will be another Robinho soap opera. Sad. With CA coming in, I do hope that he really tries to understand the strength of the team before doing any major overhaul. All we needed was some furnishing up front as we still have one of the meanest defense in the World. KTBFFH…..

Benzema would be a nice replacement for Didier in the long run but if we could ship Anelka off and get Villa then that would be even better. Chances are slim though. Ugh and Real Madrid is in almost every transfer speculation. They want Kaka, Villa, Ribery and Ronaldo. Getting all four of those players won’t help them win the champions league if the rest of their team is rubbish. They’ve been rubbish ever since Zidane and maka left.

I’m a little skeptical of Ancelotti changing the style or culture of Chelsea. His Milan were using the catenaccio system like most Serie A and that’s less attractive than the current style Chelsea are playing. Also everybody talks about developing a culture in Chelsea. I think if we were on the right track under Mourinho. In a sense that when Mourinho was in charge “EVERYONE” feared Stamford Bridge. Personally I love that identity of being the big team that plays dominant/physical football. Cheers.

51. DanaBlue - 1st Jun

Replying to cfc: I fully agree with you, Pato is pure class, his last goal for Milan against Fiorentina (assist Kaka) was an extremely cool flick in full run over the keeper. Not very many 19 years old show that kind of composure. As to Kaka I think fame has got to his head and he would be a very bad deal for us, he seems way too laid back and not a real team player when needed.
Regarding the recent decline in Cechs overall performances this past season, I suggest that Schmeichel junior is considered.
Finally I hope we bag Zhirkov, then I think we should be okay bearing in mind that di Santo Mancienne and Stoch get more playing time. All three are fantastic prospect for the future. Oops I nearly forgot, Roman would give us a very nice sommer signing by getting Ribery to the Bridge.

52. TruePlatinum - 1st Jun

denver
ancelotti has always been good with his team, but whether he meshes with our team is yet to be discovered
there are lots of good keepers in the bundesliga, and they are young, we should look for an older proven keeper so cech knows to be worried when he underperforms
i dont know what level rajovic is at, but we also have alcides and bertrand

i like the idea of having sturridge, ive always been a fan of him, michael johnson, micah richards and joe hart as well as jack rodwell
zhirkov has stated he wont leave russia to be a backup, he wants a starting spot, how would malouda take being sub? i dont think he’d like it
pato would be a good buy but to get the best out of him, it would mean making lampard more defensive which im not keen on

bluesyank
much agreed, if we have drogba, anelka, pato, di santo and sturridge and we are still looking to buy wingers, that tells me someone is headed out, i’ve grown fond of anelka lately but he is one of those players that needs to go for us to move foward, im not sure if now is the right time though

michael
my view exactly. Commentators will always say things like “he is not strong enough for the premiership”
when do you see chelsea players get forced off the ball? when do you see them stop fighting? you don’t, when we are struggling to play, its our strength and pure power that sweeps teams aside, recent example, the fa cup against arsenal. We won without stepping up, whenever arsenal challenged, they were pushed aside.
I do like benzema, and although I think he is capable of playing like drogba, i dont think it is his prefereed role, i think he’d end up at man utd if he leaves france

someone mentioned scott sinclair earlier, its not that he’s been forgotten, i always have him, stoch and kakuta in my mind, we won’t know what any of them can do unless tested in the premiership, maybe during the acn or pre season, we will see that

for all the optimistic fellas in this community…….when was the last time chelsea fc produced a player who has actually come from the youth side (and has cemented his place in the team)….i think terry was the last one and will probably be the last one (for some light years atleast)……….

these guys like kakuta, stoch and other players are not good enough to play for chelsea fc. What will happen in the future is that eventually they will realise this as well and will land up playing for clubs in the championship and nothing else…..Mind you if any one of these players were that good then they would already be playing for the club……..all this talk of things like they are young and need time to grow is nothing else but BULLSHIT…….ok for a moment forget the youth players……..lets talk of a first team player called KALOU……season after season after season he has continued to be a dissappointment and no matter how hard he tries he is gonna remain nothin else but a dissappointment…..its just how he is as a player………so why do we keep critising him always……why……he has limited abilities which is for everybody to see……..so just fu**** throw him out of the club….as simple as that….

So guys please dunt forget that is chelsea fc and not barcelona ( where most of the stars are self produced)

The only way a club like chelsea can succeed is by BUYING success……which means that go and spend like 30/40 m on ready made material and thereby reap the benefits of instant success…

Kaka is not even top 5 in the world. we dont need him to be the best in the world. if am not misstaken we were on our way to get that title if it wasnt for that knucklehead ref and/or uefa.

dont get me wrong guys, in no way am I saying kaka is a bad player. I would love to have him in my team anyday but for that kind of money? its not worth it. and even if we will the EPL and CL wit him that will mean some of our midfielders will have to step a side and I dont wanna se that.

I like the idea of pato cause he is a great talent and he still a baby but have played ok so far.

there are two players out there who are worth their price tag; Ibra and Ribery. both of them can go to anyteam or league and dominate.

point taken however
raising a youth player is a delicate process
you find the player you want and you try to mould them, some players mould well others don’t. Terry is one of the few players that pummelled his way into the first team
look at ashley young, he was missed as a youth player, clubs turned him down, now look at him, a few years in the premiership and he is shining
Ian Wright was found aged well over 20 and look at what he achieved
there is a difference in natural talent and nurtured talent
the problem has not been finding good players because glen johnson is doing well at portsmouth, sahar does well for israel, michael essien was turned down by man utd and look how they tried to sign him a few years later, and look at what he achieves now
scott sinclair played for a bristol rovers when he was just 15, how many professional footballers boast being on a contract at that age

mario balotelli-barwuah is a natural talent, drogba is a nutured talent, its just a case of finding the talented player who also has the ability to adjust and to fit in at Chelsea, unfortunately, our standard and policy is so different to any other club, that it will be about 3 years until we start seeing our progress

and before anyone compares us to other teams, out of all man utd’s youth, who would you tout to be a talent? id say not many, liverpool? maybe insua

the current climate of football in the premiership demands instant success and desperation to achieve it
don’t single out chelsea for only being successful through money, every team in the premiership is the same
every team buys players that dont perform, sells players that become gems somewhere else
and even then, what if xavi had been discovered by chelsea, he might not have been the same player. The Chelsea youth system is probably the best, you won’t know for sure unless they introduce a youth champions league or something similar

kalou is our babel, kalou shows the glimpses of the talent we bought him for, but over here, he has too much time and makes bad decisions constantly, if Kalou wants to excel as a player, he needs to be in la liga

if you want to get really technical about the chelsea academy, it took terry about 4 or 5 years to become a first team regular, the most successful youth academies are proaby crewe and west ham and even then, they haven’t produced alot, whereas in spain, money is not an issue, sustainability is which is what the top four over here are trying to do but not quite getting there
english players who truly shine are rare, and even when they do, they can slope off just like michael owen
this is too much of subject to go into so apologies for writing so much
but hopefully you start to see where im goin

Replying to sunny: Do You ever have anything good to say on this blog, cause everytime I come here and read something written by you, its always screw this and f**k this and Chelsea buy their success and oh i’m wan***g over Messi and Barcalona produce stars and Iniesta can dribble my ba**s all day long?? I mean dude WTF seriously if you can’t support CFC then why the hell do you waste ur time on this blog. All you do is patronise the players and talk crap about the club and it’s policies. You talk like ur some youth development manager or a football club owner and if CFC is not being run according to your ideas then the club is simply shit. Admit it that ur some jealous Arsenal or UTD fan that has nothing good to say and all you can do with ur time is to come on this blog and make urself feel big by talking shit about Chelsea. Get a life dude and if you really are a true blue then learn to support ur team not diss them all the time!! WASTE-MAN

“Chelsea have made an astonishing £73.5million bid for AC Milan superstar Kaka, according to Sky Sports News sources. “

62. xerxes - 1st Jun

Kaka is Sheva number 2, read my lips. When we bought Sheva he was at his peak, Kaka is not even at his peak now at 27.

Replying to Sheppard:
That’s my biggest nightmare of all. Now we have entered into a bidding war. Either way we lose. Why? Well, if we win, we blew £73.5million on our warchest and we can only pray that Kaka stays on form for 70 games without injuries. If we lose, then all other world class players will cost more as we already shown our warchest and I can imagine Bayern Munich coming out and say “If Kaka is worth £73.5million, then Ribery must be at least £60million!!!” and to sum it all up….. “its just sucks big time”….. we are suppose to be in control and not like desperate fools. Sad
