Expectations from the champions league final? We aren’t even playing in the finals, are we? Didn’t UEFA knock Chelsea out of the competition in favour of their favourite sons from Catalunya? Still, I’ll watch the champions league final tonight, purely out of the love for football. All said and done, both Man Utd and Barcelona are great teams, and a champions league final involving them must be a spectacle for any football fan in any corner of the world.
I do have some hopes and expectations from this final. Firstly, I want Man Utd to win it. Hard to say, but I say it, let Man Utd win it. Because they deserve it better than Barca. As we all know and have seen, Barca are champions of a weaker league when compared to Man Utd. As all teams have rolled over to allow them play their game to their strengths, they have also got on to the moral high horse on the playing style. Whereas, Man Utd have won the league against toughest of competitions from teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and even the top half teams. Man Utd plays are a more complete football team when compared to Barca.
How do I want Man Utd to win this match? I want Man Utd beat Barca by completely crushing them or by incredibly dodgy referee decisions. Option 1: Let Man Utd completely crush Barcelona that they have nothing to say after the final. Let them teach Barca a footballing lesson in attack and tactics. For once, I want Barcelona to openly admit that they were beaten by a side and they deserved to lose. After the match, I want Platini to say that the better team won. Option 2: Let Man Utd win through some extremely dodgy goals that would keep Barcelona crying for weeks and months. Yes, I mean it. Let the match be decided by the lone goal late in the extra time but let that goal be a penalty from a blatant dive from you-know-who. Or let there be some half a dozen clear handballs in the box by Man Utd but none of them gets called for a penalty. These things happen, you know!
The press builds this up as a Messi vs Ronaldo battle. I want Ronaldo to win this battle. I think these two players personify their teams and their philosophy. Ronaldo is a more complete player when compared to Messi. Keeping Messi quiet is not that hard. We had our right back play at left back and still made him invisible. Ronaldo is much much more consistent than Messi. Until a couple of seasons back, Ronaldo was a choker and he’s grown immensely since then. Ronaldo can play against any team, any league, any competition and at any stage. He’s a monster now. Hats off to him. Forget Messi, Barcelona as a team has always been poor in the last 6-7 seasons against English opponents.
UEFA and Platini would be hoping that Barca wins the trophy. Platini would even shed tears of joy if they win. But my final prediction: Man Utd 2-0 Barcelona. I think Barca will run around in circles and play their triangles all night but Man Utd will find the straight line that leads them to goal, that is, unless UEFA has fixed the final too.

I dont care who wins but I will watch purely for the love of football.
I am actually supporting the referee tonight,so that one of these 2 teams will feel the pain what we felt.Would love controversies in this match.
Had we won or even reached the final would have been greatOur path from knockouts would have been:
Juventus->Liverpool>Barca(Only for UEFA to spoilt it).
Anyways a good season in the Champs league.Enjoyed every moment of it until that Iniesta goal.
I don’t want ManUtd win, because I don’t want them to defend their title. I don’t want Barca win, because they cheated. But then, rather Barca. Sir Alex Ferguson will have too much pride and a too big face, if he is the first to defend the title. He may be a good trainer or manager or whatever, but he could be beaten, if he was playing fair. If he didn’t say in the press that “Chelsea is an old and sloppy team”, “the title will be decided between ManU and Liverpool”, so if he didn’t do that psychological war and if he let the other teams to prepare and work calmly, then they could be beaten.
what happened in the semi final was heart breaking took a cpl o days to sink in but i hate MAN U so i want BARCA to win………i hate thr arrogant pri*k ronaldo and i want em to lose and lose badly!! luv wen the underdogs do well………..seems like the whole world is supporting the shitheads in red!! i think my arse is prettier than rooneys face!! id jump in joy to see em lose!!
sucks CHELSEA aint playing the finals would have been the perfect revenge!! :(
I hope the refree flashes so many red and yellow cards, that in the end both teams do not have the necessary number of players for a football match to continue.
The match will be abandoned and, as a chelsea supporter, will be an ideal result.
Though this is a far fetched fantacy; remember there is a first time for everyting.
I support Man Utd too, since when all is said and done, they’ve been the best European side for the last two years (champions for three years in the toughest league in the world, and won CL last year), as much as I hate to admit it.
Rest assured, there will be media and spectator hell to pay for UEFA if it has fixed the final too. I hope something like Man Utd 3-1 Barca and a couple of red cards show up the day before on UEFA website, that’d be interesting(as happened in Chelsea-Barca match).
Ditto for Ronaldo – as much as he stlil chokes (even right now), he’s ahead of Messi by a mile. I’d refuse to concede Messi is better even if he’s better than Ronaldo in CL – because it is consistent AND brilliant performance at least for a year, possibly longer, that makes Ronaldo (and Ronaldinho and others before him) the best in the year. I’d say STFU to FIFA awards and referees, they always prefer legacy teams like AC Milan, Barcelona and Liverpool.
Same here BC, I too will watch the game hoping it will be enjoyable from a footballing point of view. However, I’ll be rooting for Barca rather than Manpoo. I hate them so much I cant stand them and their fans with their arrogance and boasting about how ‘supreme’ they are and deserve this monopoly status in the world of football. I think Evra is a mediocre defender and Messi can outclass him, the only reason Messi was invisible during our semi-finals clash was because we have the best left-back in the world (Yes, Ashley Cole IS indeed better than Evra) and at Camp Nou, everyone was defending very well, Essien helped cover Henry, Mikel supported in armouring us against Messi and so on.
4-1 to Barcelona. I want Ronaldo to cry. period
Barcelona 2-6 Man Utd
FUCK BARCELONA
FUCK UEFA
Chelsea Champions NO COMMENT :-#
I would sincerely love to see both these s**ker teams lose! But this will be far from possible. So, it would have been apt if barker win this had they gone cleanly through semis. I do not want to see manure lift the trophy because i hate them with a passion! And it would be so bitter a taste to see them do it back to back…that red nose will grow even bigger, i bet! Barker had cost us heart breaks but i would (upon deep second and third thoughts) consider them to win it because it is literally the referee who robbed us; barker just helped the referee! As much as this bitter taste of injustice is going to live with me for a lifetime, it is even more harder to watch football with pure hatred towards both the teams playing.
I will be watching the final merely out of my love for the game of football and to relish some ugly sights (i hope there will be many).
And finally, i pray that we draw either or both of these s**ker teams next year in UCL so that we can serve the cold dish while the memories are still fresh!
Chelsea forever because my blood is blue; f**k the rest…and i still pray for a tragedy to befall upon that w*nker ovrebo.
BC, I´ll take your option 2.
I want united to win..not just win but to crash those barcstards..4-0 with rooney scoring a hattrick..
But there is one more script i likes..united to play and defend like Chelsea..and score an early goal..then ronaldo and rooney sent off…6 penalty appeals played down by ref in favour of Barca..i want this because if this happens all the media and football pundits will turn against uefa and platini..and all will say uefa favoured Barca stuffs..then Chelsea matter will resurface..
And we can laugh at all those united fans who said Chelsea are themselves to blame for going out..

Very good post BC, it kind of give me an excuse to watch the game. However I hope both Manure and Barca get so many unfair and frustrating referee decisions that both teams loose it completely. A regular fight erupts and UEFA will have to stop the game and arrange a new final between Chelsea and Arsenal. Wouldn’t that be great? Well probably most unlikely, but severe fines and bans to both clubs for improper conduct.
I played the final on PES 09 on PC. Actually I spectated it, as I don’t like any of them, and I spectated 2 matches because it was kind of Champions League exhibition match, because you’ve got to go through the competition mode to play the final, and I didn’t want that.
So first MU – Barca, fans where scandaling “UNITED, UNITED”, however, Barca won with a goal of Eto’o, scored in the 60 minute. Barca dominated the match and surprisingly Ronaldo didn’t play, the COM didn’t select him because he was in a bad form. Park played.
Anyway, on to the Barca – MU. Park didn’t play, Ronaldo and Tevez did. MU gained the lead through Berbatov, after the centre back looked like a girl and after a cross he let Berbatov shoot. Then Henry equalised after a long-range Keita shot was deflected from van der Saar. No other interesting things happaned in the first half.
Then Ferdinand scored a magnificent goal (like Zidane) after Tevez lobbed it in. At around 60 minutes MU was given a penalty and Marquez was red carded for diving in the box. Ronaldo took the penalty, and scored. Then around 79 minutes played, the MU defence was a bit stupid, no one was in the centre (one of them ran away actually), Dani Alves made a killer pass to Eto’o, who scored calmly. 3-2. for MU. Then at 86 minutes after a corner kick the ball went over the line somehow (Dani Alves). 3-3. Extra time. In extra time Messi scored at the 100 minute. 4-3 for Barca. Then he was substituted for Bojan. Nothing special happened after that, Barca won, for the second time, too. In spite of the fact that they were playing with 10 men.
I know it’s not realistic, because Dani Alves is not allowed to play, Hargreaves is injured, but the second match was quite a good match.
come on Man U 3-2 thrilla
finish them!!!!

PLz don´t post links to porn sites in this forum. Every 16 year old kid knows where to look for pornos. you don´t need to guide them.
i don`t care
we must discuss the game (fa cup final)
Replying to John Stewart:
Stay away from this site please, Thanks
Harry – That’s quite interesting. I’ve just ordered PES 2009 and waiting to get it. How does it play? Do you like the gameplay? How would you compare that with PES 6 and FIFA 09? Tell me more. I’m waiting for you!
oh,no.i want barca win at this match, because i very very very hate ManU.
Inspite of all the injustice done to chelsea, I want barca to win, for a simple fact that thier win does not create history and we get a tag that we are eliminated by eventual winners.
I hate both teams, but I hate Man U more.
Hey BlueChampion, I’d love to discuss that game with you, but I think we’d better do it in private. I think you see my email address as you’re the owner of the site, so drop me a line. I’ve got a lot to say about that game.
Wow ive been on several blogs and nobody seems to care about the final. Me neither because I know WE should be winning that trophy
And the man of the tournament award goes to tom henning ovrebo….
It was better not to watch it..

UEFA = World wrestling Federation. If you dont see something fishy in the final then you are definitely blind. Let me guess the winner of next season, isnt it AC Milan? Serie A, Italian cup and European champions. I am sure UEFA likes Milan.
Teams loved by uefa are barcelona ,milan ,madrid..so they will try maximum to let them the champions..its our job to prevent both those teams and uefas “those daylight robberies”..:)

so the bunch of fucking disgrace won the CL. It should have been chelsea, but lets forget it now. Everybody knows it was a disgraceful act by UEFA. Barca shouldn´t have been there at the first place.
I’m holding my head high tonight. In a 180 minutes, Chelsea made fools of Barcelona’s prized Eto’o, Messi, Henry trio. In half that, United were played off the field. All in all, had we had Hiddink and Essien the whole season, we would have already had a trophy. Now we’ll have to wait till saturday.
KTBFFH!!!
I’m gutted. Not because Barca won or MU loses, but because it should be us playing a off-colour ManUnited, we might not have won 2-0 but neither will our defense leak in soft goals as we have proven to have the meanest defense in Europe. Alas, FA CUP will be our next prime target and despite what all the book keeper said, Everton will one hard nut to crack. But thanks to TMO, I’m confident he will turn up the goods. KTBFFH!!!
In our tie, you saw the worlds best defence against this season’s most potent attack
I’ve never rated man utd defensively, their centrfal midfield is week, their strength is in fowards and abramovich begs to play this way?
Tonight, a very arrogant man utd showed up. Fergie arrogantly selected a 4-3-3 even though his team plays 4-4-2, it was like watching a kid play you on fifa, putting ronaldo up front constantly and pushing people to the wings who don’t even play wing
the line up was bad, the formation was bad
Barca had one tactic, surprise and awe, they constantly overplayed the ball in the box, frustrated man utd and made two brilliant goals
when messi of all people, scored a HEADER, it was game over
Either way, we are going to feel robbed
that is why sunday we have to come out guns blazing
Watching this game made me even more proud of our Chelsea. Why?
After the second goal, Man U all but gave up. I saw no tooth in their attack, no bite following their bark, and Sir Alex pulling tactics out of video games and thinking more forwards would bring more goals. Right. Barcelona deserved to win this game, yes, so congratulations to them.
Compare that to our game where, even on the 93rd minute our players played like their lives were on the line. Sure Ballack got mad and Drogba went nuts, but you know what, I call that passion. They looked like they wanted to win, and were it not for the dodgy referee, it would have been us dominating today’s game.
All that talk about Man U being the best team in Europe and a paltry display to show for it. Messi with a header? Surely you must be kidding.
So the history books will give this year to Barcelona, but I think we all know who the real champions are.
Chin up, Blues, and here’s to the FA Cup!
We played a barca team with better defense and probably 20 mins with 10 men, but we created more chances than united .. Nothing for me to chose between the two teams ( as to who should win), I am bored of hearing – Champions of England, Europe and World and the countless articles of history, am bit happy that barca won ..
BTW a article which explains about chelsea ( read the second half)..
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1189044/MARTIN-SAMUEL-Yes-masters–dispute-Barcelona-deliver-boast.html
Replying to Zaneeb: you got that right!!i was watching with a mure fan … the guy head drop from the first goal. whats really fucked up is that Barca couldnt beat us.. but Manure just rolled over.
I feel little emotion about this CL final, as cfc said i was annoyned to hear those titles to manure. I wonder if Platini will shake Terry’s hand next year when we win??
If we are buying Ribery , then what will happen to Zhirkov
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2451931/Chelsea-in-Ribery-raid.html
What does the UCL final result prove:
1. Chelsea is better than manure! One simple example, Bosingwa (make shift left back) is far more better than manure’s top left back! And manure let 5″7 footer messi make mess of themselves!
2. UEFA/Plattini will protect you (barca) from strong opponents so that you can win it cleanly against weaker ones!
3. One need not necessarily come clean all the way to the final!
4. That little white ghost is really a ghost for the opponents.
5. W*nker plattini’s statement right “barca seduces me”…such a biased man given the hot seat (president of UEFA)
………..and many more things but i will leave it for you guys to continue the list!
I am mightily surprised that ManUre were like lame-duck,headless-chicken WANKERS last night. SAF looked and managed like an amateur too !
They had no attack, midfiled or defence !
There’s only one team that the BarKs ( barca ) fear ! Chelsea and our time is coming soon !
To be frank…..we have got nothing against Barcelona after the semifinal(in the general sense). Its the referee who spoilt the day for us. Barca did play their game and we stifled them . Chelsea’s defence was stronger than Manu for the past 4 seasons except when our LFS exposed it badly. Wish at least Steve CLark was around when LFS was with us. …. Coming back to the semi final….we totally made Barca run in circles. I bet ask any Barca team member…they will say Chelsea was a tougher opponent than Manu . Chelsea and Liverpool defences are almost similar excet that the Liverpool players know how to press the self destruct button in critical times. Wish our players watched the final and this will give them a confidence boost ahead of the FA cup.
I still think this Barca team is the brain work of Frank Rijkaard. Pep did not add even a single different player to last year’s team but just tightened up the defence and sold Deco. Barca were in tatters when Rijkaard arrived. So in case Rijkaard comes to Chelsea we can except a better attacking sense and if we can maintain the same defense ….then we can rule England and Europe. Since there are not too many flair players in our line up, hope the defence is not exposed too much. Hail blues…..
This show how genius is GUSS HIDDINK. After the match every people said Alex Fergusen should have used Guss tactics .
This is the second time that a team beat us on referee errors and go to final and became CHAMPIONS.
Could you believe this ,Eidur Gujhansen has the UEFA GOLD MEDAL and players like TERRY/LAMPARD/BALLACK didnt have.
THATS A FUCKING INJUSTICE
Ha ha ha ManUre didn’t know how to defend against the BarKs . even 5foot 7 Messi HEADED a goal in ha ha ha . They didnt support each other , run into space ,
shit tackling , no tactics, no game plan, Carrick, Giggs and Anderson really bottled it !
Man ! I just lost 4 hours sleep watching a pathetic performance,
What an anti-climax to the build-up ! The 2 best teams on the planet ?
MY FOOT !
Oh BC you failed so badly :P Barcelona simply smashed United, Manchester was nowhere near the trophy in this match. At least we were eliminated by European Champion, and don’t forget in what way.
KTBFFH!
Same old story
Barca have totally controlled the game just as they did with Chelsea
Except the first 8 minutes of the game there was only one side playing and one side clueless
The only difference was that barca found the target this time what took them too long playing with the clueless Chelsea.
True attacking football has wan!!!!! And the fake theory of EPL superiority as failed
A league that is controlled by 2 teams for the last 5-6 years and only out of un proportional money spending can’t be anything but boring
Barca 2- Manu 0 was just the score barca needed; it should have been more like 4-0 just like it should have been in the 2 games with Chelsea
Toothless, passionless, aimless, responseless, lifeless , fightless, gritless were ManUre last night
( where are their fans now ? no visitors do I see ! and their blogs saying : it was an off-day,I don’t feel so gutted, best team won etc : what a bunch of choking WANKERS )
Barca didn’t even need the ref’s help………….. ha ha ha ha
Oh am I so happy that I am a Blues Fan !We may have lost out on being in the CL final but those scintillating semi-final matches were much better than the CAPITULATION of ManUre !
I am so proud that we didn’t lose the way ManUre did
KTBFFH !
I’m very surprised at the above comments about Ronaldo and Messi. I’m even more surprised that blue supporters have let their defeat cloud their jurgement. Much as i agree that the BLUES were handed a row deal, i also believe that you lost to a more better opponent painful as it is. Messi has shown the world all over that he is the best currently. We’ve also seen who the best player in the world is. Do i want Fergie to think he is the best thing that has ever happened to English soccer? certainly not. i’m happy with UNITED lost. We’ve all seen that there is a better coach in Guss than there is in Fergie. Watch Liverpool next season.
@jasix
we never lose that match..
And i am not proud to hear we are eliminated by the eventual champions..

I prefer Xaxi & Iniesta as Top players of the world,They are genius.Chelsea,Liverpool,Arsenal…. must learn from last night game to beat MU next season.
If all of the Chelsea Fans want to Celebrate CL winning right this moment at the next year ,Our team needed to improve and this is on Roman hands by getting some good players for chelsea. Our team really need to be CL CHAMPIONS .
we should of played arsenal; those manc wanks!
last night was pure manure.
Most media are on the “Chelsea raiding Ribery” headlines and as much as I love to have him in a Blue jersey, I’m not sure about the 43Mpound tag mentioned. We do know we need to strengthen the team with quality and not quantity but at that price, it would be the second highest paid transfer in the world todate (I cannot confirm this as I can only recall Zidane costing more unless Kaka or C.Ronaldo transfer first). It is a tough choice but what puzzle me most is that if Chelsea is really in the high pursuit then it also means that the manager has already be appointed and so far, only CA is being named. I have nothing against CA, maybe we will do well under him. I’m not sure. What I’m sure is CA will overhaul Chelsea thru and thru and everything will change. That’s is what I like about Guus, he plays the current team’s strength while always talk about the need of younger players mixing in. That will preserved the Chelsea setup and culture. Let’s hope Roman really knows what he is doing. Chelsea for life!!!
they stole the trophie from uss
im very glad about the ribery linking but i really hope he wouldnt be our only big signing cause we need some good strikers aswell
Replying to raodai:
people now a days think fotball is fotball when it is attackin fotball. yes barca did atack but we came out in nou camp wanting to defeat our goal and that is what we did and the game could have been 3 hours longer they still wouldnt score. we did our job perfectly and they couldnt manage to do their job. we out played them. and at the bridge they had one shot on goal. we had allot. drogba should haved finished them off. we where the better team home and away.
there is no way in history or in the future that barca can win chelsea without the help of the reff. that is a fact.
Cristiano Ronaldo: “The tactics were not good, everything went wrong. We have to give credit to Barcelona, but they were a bit lucky to be here because Chelsea did not deserve to lose and no-one has mentioned that. I have to congratulate Barcelona, they were better but only the winners get talked about.”
Replying to cfc: I would prefer Zhirkov, because he is cheap and just as good, 43 Mil is a lot of money, i think we should go for Zhirkov, ben Arfa and the rest that we liked instead of going in like that
I think that Barca deserves that trophy. Barca played really well last night, and in the other hand, Ronaldo played very selfishly there. He always shoot the ball instead of passing it to his teammates. It’s a very nice game, and again, Barca deserves that :)
how about us going for Slevn Bilic??
bestboyvijay
i agree with virtually all your points but will also add, scolari considered, we actually conceeded the fewest goals in the premiership this season
I also agree so strongly with radoi, it annoys me people don’t seem to acknowledge the defensive approach
relegation battlers use the same defensive tactics, no-one slates them, when chelsea does it, its a crime against football, celtic did the same thing last year and there was no more than one online article from messi about it
i do appreciate ronaldo’s abilities, but not his ego, Im starting to feel more and more like he’s going to madrid
messi did outshine him, but didn’t really produce anything spectacular
rooney, iniseta and xavi were the guys that shone for me
man utd are headed into a dark spell, ronaldo will leave, anderson will leave, they will panic buy and they will drop to third
Liverpool will be looking for a winger or striker, rightback and centre mid, and they will probably build on this year…..with second place again. They will never win the prem as long as benitez is there, i promise that
zhirkov will be coming, but i dont expect him to be a starter unless hiddink thinks he can be that dribbling central midfielder we need, in which case he could get ballacks spot or he could play a holding role and release essien, such is the versatility, realistically, we have no idea what hiddink was thinking when he said, chelsea needs zhirkov
ribery would be very handy, but with him, malouda, zhirkov, joey and presumably kalou, its abit too much
but then again, ribery wants to show the world what he truly is and he cant do it in bundesliga, 43mil is a typical newspaper thing to say, next the tabloids will do an article “ancellotti says ribery is a good player” and then they will automatically say ribery has signed for us
I was under the impression he was headed to barcelona
man i cant wait for saturday!!!!
Gurocof sign for Bourdux officially,One of my faviorate players is gone.Damn
Replying to CFCIR: dont know why kenyon wont get up off his ass, all the good ones are going fast!! we move to slow in these windows
i said if mourinho wanted any of our players it would be deco and look
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_5351800,00.html
and this epitomises what i think will be achieved by selling carvahlo (even the its about the pool)
http://goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/05/28/1291720/rafa-benitez-hyypias-departure-gives-chance-to-young
Ribery is a fantastic player. But I would prefer Zhirkov ahead of Ribery, purely because of the money we need to shell out to get ribery. We can use the money we save in a different place, may be expanding the stadium. I think we are good enough and we dont need to be hyper active in the transfer market. Gourcoff signs for bordeau, good!! But if we get him, then where is the place in the midfield? Remeber that we will have Joey back next season and he can play either right or left. We need a striker only if we are planning to offload DD. I want to keep Malouda, so i dont think there is a huge need to sign Ribery. Malouda impressed me lately, and I have confidence that he is only going to improve further. We also have the option of Sinclair / Stoch / Kakuta. We can definitely sell a couple of defenders and couple of midfielders, since there are too many in there. Ferreira, Carvalho, Belleti, Deco are on my list. We need to ensure that we get a good price for these players.

Agree , but Rijkaard had Hen Ten Cate. Rijkaard is considered a very lazy coach and Ten Cate the task master.. But congratulations to Pep, they have won the treble for the first time in history as a matter, the first la liga team to do so..
I have seen a lot of headlines linking Chelsea buying Ribery this summer. Just wishing it would be true. Ribery is a fantastic player even there is no guarantee he will be hit in premier league. Many great players struggle when they come in PL and it takes them some time to adjust to the physical side of the league. There are also many players who became instant hit in english football such as Torres. It depends on the players I think. Buying Ribery for 40 plus million could be a huge gamble. But I will bet on my house on him to be a huge success in blue shirt next season. Germany League is not as good as or as physical as PL however great players are all gonna be able to adjust to whatever kind of difficulties they may face. I saw him play first at the World Cup 06 in Germany. He was fantastic. Seen him scoring many goals in Bundesliga and at international levels convince me to buy him for whatever price. Every great side has one great player who can do magic in games. Barca Messi, AC Milan Kaka, ManU Ronaldo, Arsenal Van Persie, Real Madrid Robben, Inter Ibragimovich, Liverpool Torres. Chelsea have so many big players but Ribery could fill in what we are lacking at the moment.

Totally agree
Do any of you seriously think Arnautovic would be able to replace Drogba? dont be stupid
Replying to cfc: now thats nice list a list!!
Quoting CFC @ 61
Agree , but Rijkaard had Hen Ten Cate. Rijkaard is considered a very lazy coach and Ten Cate the task master..
We also have a good coach in Ray Wilkins whom the players respect. A task master would be unsuitable for Chelsea where there would be potential flash points. There were rumours of a bust up with Terry and Henk ten Cate last season. these flare ups would damage the team. Hence there is no requirement of Cate or a task master. Even though Rijkaard is considered lazy, his buys and his shrewd knowldege of the Dutch philosophy of playing which involves possesion and good intelligence in the last 3rd will help us a lot. Under LFS we had possesion but when the ball reaches to Bosingwa or Kalou in the last third , they would bottle it up. especially Bosingwa ….he would try to dribble and lose posession when we are going for the kill. Plus LFS completely killed the attacking instincts like direct long ball when we were a goal down. This might not happen under Rijkaard. At least we have Wilkins who will not allow him to ask Chelsea to play only on the ground and try to pass the way out of trouble. Barca philosophy might not work in EPL. I feel that even Everton and Bolton can stop Barca from scoring in the EPL. So we need to have a nice blend of flowing and dirty (as per Barca and Manu fans ) football if we were to please Roman and increase our fan base.
The only positive out of LFS era was that Chelsea were not hated and skinned by rival fans and the media. Guus ticks all the boxes required for a manger to manage Chelsea but I think the next best person on the planet is Rijkaard and after him a combination of Steve clark and Zola .
Chelsea just signed zhirkov guys.
rijkaard would be fine in my opinion, the best choice
he coaches our formation and in particular, focuses on the fowards which is what we need to get going, stop relying on our fullbacks so much
as much as id love to have zola, id hate to risk killing his career with such a high profile job so early
[quote comment="73338"]Do any of you seriously think Arnautovic would be able to replace Drogba? dont be stupid[/quote]
i am using him as a winger (cover for joe cole. ) only karim benezema can replace didier drogba…
btw, zhirkov has signed for chelsea….
bro cfc, where u get the news from?zhirkov signed for chelsea?????????
64 we need some changes to this lineup zhirkov another striker bench will change this is an ageing side yes this side is great for europe
we need slighly different team 4 epl and other cups we need to have nearly two squads remember next season no drogba mikel
essien and kalou in jan to feb mid should buy in july aug not in jan as they may need time to adjust squad strength is imp in league
never rijkaard!!!!! his attacking football would kill us
zhirkov will come to chelsea at some point this season and its going to be GOOOOD!
Chelsea have reportedly sealed the £18.6million signing of CSKA Moscow winger Yuri Zhirkov.Sportsmail online understands that Zhirkov, 25, has agreed a four-year deal and confirmation will be announced in the coming weeks, although CSKA have today moved to dismiss the news as rumour.
Replying to Jo: Dude here is the link regarding Zhrikov’s signing http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_5353784,00.html
This is really good news as Zhirkov is a real talent and highly regarded by Guus aswell, our left flank is now covered, Yuri is a brilliant left back and left winger option. I personally think that all we need now is an attacking midfeilder/right winger and one striker to complete Chelsea and to be able to challenge next season.
A quick note: Zhirkov is a brilliant signing because …..
1) We got the cover for LB A.Cole and no more Bosingwa of the LEFT kinda sh!t;
2) I regard him as a different type of winger than Malouda and might provide us with a new dimension on 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3;
3) The 25 y.o. is great because he is a ready product and his position really didnot erupts the youth development, not that much;
4) If the price tag of £18.6mil is confirmed, I regard this as an “OK” pricing, not a big bargain but not a bomb like Ribery.
I’m updating constantly waiting for the OFFICIAL which should be on Sunday or Monday….after the FA CUP, which I’m eagerly waiting for……
KTBFFH!!!

John Terry was responsible for the sacking of Jose Mourinho as Chelsea’s manager, according to the club’s former player Claude Makelele. The former Blues’ midfielder makes the claims in his autobiography ‘Tout Simplement’, published in France today.
“I thought Mourinho was practically untouchable, but a lot of players had complained about him, notably John Terry,” British broadsheet newspaper The Times reports the book as revealing.
“When John Terry let his discontent be known to [Peter] Kenyon [the chief executive] and asked him for an immediate transfer, [Roman] Abramovich [the club's owner] reacted immediately: the departure of Terry was totally unimaginable, from the point of view of the supporters, the players or the club owners. Mourinho was asked to pack his bags.”
The row allegedly took place on the eve of Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Norway’s Rosenborg on September 18, 2007.
Although it is well known that Mourinho and Terry had previously clashed over the England defender’s physical condition, both parties have reportedly moved swiftly to deny Makelele’s claims, with Terry issuing a statement through his lawyers refuting the allegations.
The Times also reports that Mourinho has contacted the Chelsea defender, in order to pledge that he will publicly deny the reports.
What effect this might have had on Chelsea’s preparations for tomorrow’s FA Cup final against Everton at Wembley remains to be seen.
