I just put this post up to say there is no post for this match. I’m on a short trip and I’d be back only this weekend. That means no Everton preview, no Everton match reaction and no West Ham preview. I’m not sure if I’ll be watching the Everton match. You can rightly guess that I’ll use all my efforts and powers to dedicate those 90 minutes for live football.
I gotta run now. On the Everton match, I’d say that we’ll win and rather comfortably. I see 2-0 with Lampard and Drogba in the scoresheet. This is a must-win and that’s what we keep saying for all premier league matches. But this one is really a must-win because Portsmouth can hold Man Utd and Arsenal can beat Liverpool. Great time to put immense pressure on the top two and also maintain the momentum.
I almost forgot. Did you see the PFA awards nominees list? It is half of the Man Utd team plus one Steven Gerrard who gets the man of the match even if he doesn’t play. Atrociously, there is no Frank Lampard there! As a midfielder, he has got 19 goals and 11 assisting 40 games this season. That’s a bloody conspiracy! And the young player PFA list has Johnny Evans and Rafael but there is no John Obi Mikel!
Wait for Chelsea to win some trophies this season. You’ll see all awards coming this way. Anyway, it is the popularity that gets awards than the performance. In the champions league, I’d love to see this Chelsea team demolishing the Man Utd team, half of which are nominated for the PFA awards. That is, we’ll knock the PFA United after we are done with FC Joga Bonito.

After watching some Barca matches , I wonder why the loose balls nearly always fall in front of a Barca player when they are attacking ?

I never thought of Mikel as being one of the best young players but one of the best holding MF in the league. He was one of our best players till Essien got back.
is it “facts” that Mancienne may play agains barca??? if guus thinks so then he probably the best options we got.
I still think the main problem against them will be in the midfield, if we can pack the midfield and keep harrasing Xavi+Iniesta, our lifes will be alot easier. am sure we gonna score agains them. that will be key

Hi there guys, its weird to see why even Ballack is aging, still all the coaches played him alongside Lampard… I was wondering why? But now I understand, why… He is tall but runs slow… easily kicked down by opponents, but his passing is nice…once in a while, resulting goals. Once in a while, his freekicks are golden…once in a while he slows down the game when everyone goes rampage and game goes out of control and this will test the opponents temper or mood. The holding midfielder…that suits him. He loses the ball when opponents more than 1 keep an eye on him because they overrated Ballack while overlooked other players around on the field like Lampard, Essien, Malouda, Mikel. Its weird to see something negative actually contributes to Chelsea and we all might be wondering why LFS, AG and now Guus fielded him because once in a while with his weaknesses it could benefit others at the same time Ballack’s tackles are not that good but we all can see that he is trying his best to defend even it is not his best expertise to do defending. REmember when Ballack scores 2 goals for CHelsea last season against MU? because MU thought it is a waste of time not to take care of him…and it really does but Balalck realize it is his day to score against a team like MU. Now I agree…just let Ballack play alongside with Lampard and Essien… if it is not Ballack’s day, then it would be Essien or Lampards day and vice versa…. anyhow, it is better to replace Ballack at the end of the season with someone who is more creative and skillful and fast. For the game againts Everton… hopefully our midfielders, will produce some goods to tell EVerton that they will have to accept that for the final, they have to surrender it before the game starts. Lampard not getting a vote is horrible, some of the stats being thrown around is the amount of key passes he does, passes that may directly contribute to a goal but is the second pass before the goal and such or ones that allowed clear shots on target from a striker, basically the stat the shows the level of attacking threat he is from the midfield. 130+ already and the next closest isnt even in the triple digits.
We have signed Phillipp Prosenik, seems it is a good signing since he is young and have been sought by Juve, AC Milan, Bayern and Roma. Anyway, let’s wait and see how he is in 2009-2010 season onwards! Good luck to him!

I agree with Zaneeb. That will be the score and the scorers. Did you hear the news? Chelsea is going to sell Anelka,Deco,Ballack and Malouda. These are my reactions for the outs.
Anelka : He played well under Luis Scolari. Scoring more than 10 goals before he was sacked. Only Lampard and him were the two motivated under him. I think he should stay in the chelsea shirt until the world cup starts (before 2010).
Deco : He started very well before his first injury for Chelsea. Scoring 2 goals in 2 games for Chelsea. Now,it is quite unfair leaving him on the bench. But it is true he is not playing well. I think we should sell him.
Malouda: He started poor,getting intercepted when driving in the wing. After scoring against Newcastle and Arsenal,I have faith in him to get better and better. and he started well after he grew hair on his head. I think we should keep him
Ballack: He can score well. I know he is getting old. But,he is very experienced. He has been missing so many chances but I think he should stay as he builds up Chelsea’s midfield with Lampard and Essien.

That was one of the worst chelsea match in recent times. We didn’t deserve to win. They had more chances in the first half (Just thinking if it was Messi for Jo). No coordination what so ever. Just reminded me of the LFS era. The second half was better (that because everton had already decided for a draw and allowed us to attack).
Drogba was shut down by Baines,
Lampard (surprisingly) poor,
malouda back to his own self.
That did us. The above players responsible for our recent surge in goal tally were all beautifully shunted. And did we have any other source?
Credit to Moyes and his team for their good display, they could have easily netted one in the first half , but for Cech. I hope this is not what we put forth in the final. Because I don’t think we can win in shootouts (have we ever?).
As for the league is concerned, we didn’t deserve it. We were presented with too many opportunities to topple the leaders but every time failed to do so. So now, we could test our youngsters in league games.
By the way good performance by the subs Mikel and Kalou. Only memorable moment that thunderball (left footer) from Terry.

We all know the league was already lost months ago,and there was no margin for error if winning the league was to be, but for me personally the league over since then and I have no tears over last night’s result.
One positive is that Petr Cech is back to his best and had a great game and this draw will motivate Chelsea players in the games against Barca which are very winnable.
Chelsea didnt played well because there is no hope for EPL glory.Chelsea play very good in the CL because we can win it.
Even if we beat them 4:0 ,there were no diference,Because title is not on our hands,it of MU hand .This was a bad year for EPL because ,MU are going to win it for the 3th time and this time it was so easy for them.I hope we finish this year with Champions League & FA CUP glory.
First half was awful. We couldn’t keep the ball for more the two maximum three passes. And everyone was at fault. Specially essien, my gosh his passing was the worst I ever seen. We couldn’t hit the target on long shot even if we tried 100 times. I was wishing actually for an Everton goal, because maybe that would have wakened us up, but Cech had other idea=)
He was the best player for us in the first half, and that sums it up the teams’ performance.
Second half was much better. Especially in the end we really went for it. Oh if DD shot had gone in….
The positive;
•Cech was really good. He did some world class saves. When he ran into Jo though in the end I was holding my breath, which was some scary minutes there.
•Ashley Cole was the MOM. When everyone looked lazy or couldn’t make a pass to save their lives he was the one that pushed and pushed and tried to create something and he was really good in the second half.
•Guus tried to win the game. He put in the best XI out there. And when they didn’t play well he made all the right subs. I think Mikel came in and did rather well. Really nice to se Di Santo gets some min also.
•Now that the Guus and the team truly given up on the league we can focus on what we actually have a shot on, the CL and FA.
It was unfortunately we couldn’t play well and win at home but I never thought we had a shot at the league title so I am not that mad. Plus we gotta keep in mind Everton is no joke folks. I know some of the players were saying the EPL title was possible but it didn’t seam like they did believe in it. And if they did they sure didn’t show it.
I will bet that chelsea will Crush EVERON at FA CUP final.In the league there were no hope ,even before Guss arrival.I hope guss place a young chelsea team on Sat ,and Rest maximum 6 of XI and play Quresma .

But even if we lose, I wanna lose ina blaze of glory and lose 5 goals to 6 in normal time and have a heart stopping time.It’s just great to see the tension in the opposing fans eyes and watch ‘em grit their teeth, clench their hands prayerfully and look upswards for divine intervention everytime Chelsea get the ball.

Agreed. It is the first half, when the scored 4 goals against bayern and lyon.. if the score is under control, then they will also feel the pressure in second half..

Zlatan seem to be keen to go to Spain, I wouldn’t mind him in Chelsea cause I have seen him dominate since his days in Malmö. But he will cost a lot and I think he would rather go to real or barca then to come to England. But anything is possible. Ibra´s biggest desire is to win the CL and that’s the main reason he is considering leaving inter. He is determent to win the world POTY award and to do that he wants to win the CL.
I hope DD stays and we can buy a young up and comings striker, Karim B. maybe? And I would love to se the kid Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux) comes to Chelsea next season. I am also very keen on Yuri Zhirkov.
Today’s game was decent no more no less. The goods were Mancienne; He needs to work on his passing and decisions but I really like him.
Malouda was good; all our play was on that left side all game long.
JT and Brani; did execute well in defense.
Cech was good. Hearing the commentators saying he been poor and not convincing everything the ball came into our box was absolutely rubbish. There for I had a feeling he would make the save of the day and he did. That was in your face for all the haters/doubters out there.
Mikel was good. He was dominating the midfield. He still has to be much smarter in certain areas though. He causes clumsy fouls and he gotta work on his decisive passes.
The bad;
Even though kalou got the winner he was poor all day long and he topped it by giving away the penalty.
Jose, he didn’t do much on both end of the field. And he might play on Tuesday but hopefully not.
Our inability to create good chances while dominating games. Had west ham done better wit their finishing we could easily have been 2 goals down!
Anelka drifts so far away from the box, which make our sloppy crosses almost useless cause wit NIC so far out we don’t have anyone in the box. Maybe that’s why they don’t try to many crosses?
No all eyes on Tuesdays Clash wit barca. Hope Valencia gives hem touch game today! I am glad we did rest our big guns today. I wish lampsy would have gotten some rest as well. The last to games, I think fatigue have been a factor in his play cause he could barely hit the target and his crosses and corners have been bad. Don’t wanna look to far ahead but hopefully after a good game on Tuesday he can get some rest against Fulham.

ferreira is out for the rest of the season and is nowhere near the talent bosingwa is so hiddink has in my opnion, made the best choice at the back because ultimately, you could put a brilliant centreback there BUT, we need to be able to push back up the field
then hiddink will blatantly put essien in the defensive role, xavi is not a fast nor robust player so he should be kept quiet, iniesta on the other hand, is very fast and skilled but hopefully essien can cut him out as well
thing is with anelka, he can fit into scolari’s game, so I wasn’t surprised to see him scoring when the ball was on the ground so often, thats what he likes, now we are playing our game properly, anelka is finding it difficult, he has improved but it is still hard for him, and not playing regularly, I’m not surprised the once top scorer has not added more to his tally
on our west ham game, diabolical, malouda was running wild on the left all day and was wasting everything, in january, anelka would of scored this, but inconsistant playing does make things like this happen to most strikers

help me understand why we should keep both? Mineiro contributes to nothing except total wages paid by chelsea fc, i believe he hasn’t started a single game, and has made about 2 appearances, if he was worth keeping, hiddink would of used him by now
kalou seems more confused lately, I think if the club wants to move foward, Kalou needs to be sold, I don’t see potential in him anymore, he takes on defenders once a month, his passing is not great, he is quite big and fast but that accounts for nothing if he never comes up with what we need, last season, he was doing okay, this season, he has performed at a much lower level so I’d be in favour of him going, we’d only get about £15million for him anyway
malouda seems better better but im not sure i want him

belletti is likely to be on his way out
deco, more than likely should be gone

I don’t see how people find it so easy to say players are shit especially when they are young and our best fing option on the right unless your into keeping anelka. More players fail at clubs than succeed when they get there so don’t think about getting rid of young talent which is hard to find. Who would replace him? chelsea isn’t renowned for making the best transfers.
Keep mineiro? I said we can’t sell him (which if you knew anything is) because his contract runs out this summer.

don’t get me wrong, I like kalou, but he isn’t improving the way we need him to, he may have improved in goals for matches, but in terms of his playing style, he isn’t doing what we all know he can and should be doing, the best game i’ve ever seen from kalou was in our 3-2 win over liverpool at the bridge last season, but he never ever replicates that kind of form so I just think in order to move foward kalou needs a new position or a new club
belletti is versatile and does produce some interesting play but at the same time, the club has holes and I think he’d be a player shipped out to cover them
as far as I was informed, mineiro had a two year contract from scolari thats why i said sell him
just for the record, I am not and never have been keen on anelka, sure hes done a few things, but he’s so weird, I’ve seen him take on defenders, beat them and blast the ball into the corner flag, lol. ancellotti has a strange coaching style which I sometimes struggle to understand
he plays some sort of diamond but the wing game is not huge, pirlo is a defensive playmaker, he used to play gattusso and seedorf in front of him in advanced defensive roles and kaka ran riot behind two strikers, nowadays, pato, ambrosini, flamini and ronaldinho are in that system and I find it really hard to read

I think not cos having been coach at AC Milan and being in Italian football means being always tactically sound and physically tough. Two things that were not Scoalri’s dish.
On top of that after working with the Milan “Lab” , their player conditioning and sports medicine set-up , Ancelotti would certainly not be lax in individual and group training and physical preparation.
The only things left are can he be a motivator and a communicator ? Also will his brand of football be attractive enough for El Romano ?

He is not a loan player. He was out of contract and was free agent. You can’t sign loan players out of transfer window ( Correct me ? ) and he was signed outside the transfer window. Loan or free agent, we should be paying him 30,000 K atleast a week ..

Miniero, is a chelsea player, hes not on loan, signed out side the transfer market, so chelsea can sell him if they want,,,

Do you remember when Liverpool knocked out Barca in 2007? They had a mostly right-back Arbeloa playing at LB just to counter Messi. Messi, unlike most wingers, loves to cut in from the right. Arbeloa kept taking the ball off him with his stronger right foot, rendering him surprisingly quiet even at Camp Nou. Liverpool won that match 1-2 and the rest is history.
Let’s pray that Bosingwa or Belletti can emulate Arbeloa tonight.

OK!!! I dont mind whoever is facing Messi. I strongly believe that he is going to do is own things no matter you play Bosingwas or belletis or ivanos. I strongly feel that the fortunes of our progress rest with LAMPS and DROG’s. Its sure messi is going to assist or score . I also like your idea of attacking barca and taking advantage of their weak defense. They may score, but we will score more, so it is all going to be nice for us. While they may be lost in attacking, their defense will fall agape and the bitter dish will be served by Lampard and Drogba.

The only thing that worries me is about taking free kicks from near-D areas. I have always seen Ballack and Drogba almost begging for the ball while Lampard is undoubtedly the best free kick taker than them. So, i would urge Ballack and Drogba to let the right man do the job that he alone can best do it. Drogba and Ballack might have produced goals from such kicks, but Lampard gives us more assurance, probability is high with Lampard. Let Alex shoot his missile if the free kicks are right at the front edges of D. Ivanovic and Terry will head lovely goals tonight along with Drogba and Lampard.
