Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal | Golden Guus goes to the finals . . .

There was a sense of deja vu! When Walcott scored the first goal, Chelsea had to win it with a winner from Drogba. That’s exactly what happened in Feb 2007 in the finals of the league cup. As always, Chelsea took some time to turn up and conceded by that time. In the first 20 minutes or so, Chelsea were a bit sluggish and uncommitted. That was the time Arsenal saw the ball. Once they scored, you started seeing a different Chelsea.
Are we getting back to our best? Back in JM days, Chelsea typically started sluggishly and took time to settle. That’s why we hardly scored any early goal. Until we settled down, we ran the risk of conceding a goal. Once settled, we took complete control of the match and the result. The Chelsea that we see now is pretty much that. Conceding an early goal and then coming back into game is becoming a bit customary. In fact, I’m more comfortable with this. The moment Arsenal scored in the 18th minute, I was sure that we are winning, and we are winning in full time.
Check back my pre-match post. I think I was right. They are just boys while Chelsea are men. I don’t refer to the average age here. I’m just talking about the experience and maturity of the players. Young players can be wiser and older players can be less mature. What was in display was Chelsea’s rich experience. They exactly knew what Arsenal would do and what their strengths are. And Chelsea handled Arsenal like men would handle boys. I don’t think Chelsea were threatened too much. Adebayor was invisible except that one movement for goal. Spittergas was quiet and confused. All that van Persie had was a couple shots at the stands. Walcott scored that deflected goal but he was always kept under control. The others were made to make up the numbers.
When you have too many players from a team vying up for man of the match, that says something about that teams performance. Frank Lampard was the official man of the match. Most deserving too. I would also think Drogba, Alex and Malouda were in the running. Some felt that Essien was not very effective. I don’t think so. He did not surge forward very much and I think that was just the plan. Ballack and Essien were playing deeper allowing Lampard a more attacking role. I’m happy with Essien and Ballack because Chelsea bossed the midfield and it would not have been possible without them playing well.

What can we say about Malouda? This is the Malouda that Jose Mourinho bought! Hiddink is turning him into a superbly effective winger. He makes intelligent runs, he beats players, he takes superb corners, he delivers dangerous crosses and he scores goals! He now plays like a complete winger. Full credit to Guus Hiddink. Only some weeks back, Malouda featured in the everyone’s list of ‘players out’. For most people he even topped the list. For some reason, I always like Malouda. He has been in the worst form of his career but I always thought he is a genuine guy, stays committed and puts in the effort. So, I’m happy to see Malouda playing like this. I hope he scores one against Barcelona too.
Let me write a paragraph on Anelka. Well, not another rant. I’m particularly impressed with Anelka’s rise in work rate. He has improved gradually and now he is kind of consistent with his work rate. Though he is still not able to create that impact like Drogba, he has certainly got better with his hunger and desire. I’ve said this a million times now. The most important things I expect from players is passion, commitment and contribution. In this respect, Anelka is slowly becoming a Chelsea player.
If it’s Arsenal it had to be Didier Drogba. He absolutely relishes scoring against them. Let Barca be warned. Now that’s 10 goals in 11 games. That’s the form of a ‘best in Europe’ striker. I would attribute the return of Drogba’s form to Hiddink as well. Hiddink has acknowledged Drogba as the first choice striker in Chelsea. He has played him as much as possible. Under Hiddink, Drogba has not sat on the bench for nothing. Hiddink says:
It’s amazing every week, every game, he is delivering very much. The team is delivering, not just Drogba, but Drogba is the end regarding the production and you cannot always value a striker on his goals because he can do a lot for the team, not always scoring but very determined and very decisive. He worked, and it’s very nice to work with the guys. They always deliver and react whatever you do. We have seen it in several games now. I haven’t seen [Drogba] unhappy, he is smiling. I like to see this.
The finish was just too perfect to believe. The pass had to be from Lampard and that must be Drogba to kill them off. That’s my permanent script for a Chelsea winner – assist from Lampard and goal from Drogba. And Drogba killed them the way I’d love him to. I wanted him to make the Arsenal back four and the keeper look like idiots and that’s what he did. I hear Wenger saying that he let in a couple of cheap goals. How stupid is he? Will he ever learn? For the first goal, it was a great ball from Lampard and Malouda did very well with his first touch and moved in with confidence and that finish was just awesome. For the winner, another great ball from Lampard and Drogba had to do so much before he made them look like idiots. Poor Fabianksi. That’s not his mistake. He was dealing with their own shitty defence and a great striker. Wenger puts it on Fabianski to cover the fact that Guus has thoroughly outthought and outfoxed him.
I also heard Wenger crying about the pitch. He did the before the match. Because they lost, he did that after the match too. I’ve never seen such a sore, poor, ungracious loser. Of course, the pitch was poor. For Wembley, for a 90,000-seater stadium, it was a horribly poor pitch. But that’s for both teams. I wouldn’t say it was a disadvantage when it came to playing football. Whatever the pitch was, it was for both the teams. It’s like playing in different weather conditions such as snowy Russia, sunny Spain and rainy London. As a football team, you should know how to play in different conditions and you should know how to use the right playing style for this type of pitch. By the way, did Wenger mention anything about Silvestre’s volleyball clearance attempt that must have been a penalty if the linesman had a pair of eyes? Or that Denilson must have got a straight red for shoving the . . . well . . referree!
Cut the crap Wenger! You were beaten fair and square. We out-possessed, out-created, out-shot and out-scored you. We won and you lost. We are in the finals and you’re not. Hello . . Arsene, No! Things will improve. No, don’t do it please . . . No don’t . . .

I’m sorry for Arsene!
The most inspiring player on the pitch was certainly the one and only super Frankie Lampard. He created both the goals. He was involved in every single attack. He was just awesome with the spirit he displayed on the pitch. He was defending brilliantly, his led the midfield, he was a great threat in attack. I think he got most of his tackles spot on. And he was never afraid to throw himself into a tackle. I’m sure that while Lampard was flying around like that, all other players must also have been inspired and motivated. That’s what a Lampard does. Every. Single. Match. He is an unbelievable player. I were to be a football player, I’d be Frank Lampard, without a doubt.
I don’t want to think that Guus would be gone in May. He would stay. One way to make him stay is by winning a trophy this season. Even if Guus does not win a trophy, he has been a messiah for us. Even if he goes home now, he can be proud of what he achieved at Chelsea. I’m confident that Guus will guide us past Barcelona too. If there is one team that can stop Barcelona at this moment, it has to be Chelsea. You’ll see that happening and I’ll be running like a madman and you’ll read that here.
Not the best of games by Ballack and Ivan but Super Frank was on fire as always and what’s with this Malouda character – he looks liek a brand new signing? :)
Drogs finishes in the end by a stuupid keeper error. What was he doing out of the box that far out. I will tell you what he was not doing. Correctly estimating the speed of #11!!
BurNED!!!!
Here’s to payback on ManU in the finals
I predict tomorrow ManU 1 / Everton 0
Thats 2 out of 2 for Guus Hiddink against the other big three. And i must apologise to arsenal that chelsea kicked their ‘arse’. Lets hope we get to play man united in the finals.
>>Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: “When you are so close and you are only 20 years of age, I don’t know why you should be desperate to win something straight away.”
——
Here he goes playing the Age card again!
As much as I hated the “Goners” ~ I will give Arsenal credit only on their business sense. They are relatively debt free and know how to run a club. Look at ManU atm in over their heads by over 425m pounds!
Here’s to seeing ManU pull a Leeds United! Let’s see how many of thier Johnny come latley fans stick with them when they are bankrupt and relagated to 1st Division! =]
… well at least I can dream…
we deserved to win drogba deserved to score beware barca and manu or everton we will get u
Arsenal are piece of cake for us.We can beat them easily and WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE FABREGOUS?
thats what happens when u hit the blue wave…………!
the performans itself was bad from our side, and we still were dominating the game, thats says how bad the ars were. CJ said something about Fab4 gettin lost in essiens pocket, hmm I wonder if he and gerrard were chitchattin there=)
if am gonna be critic, essien gotta work on his passing. ballack need a rest, we had enought of this nonchalant play.
overall, we took care of business. I guess I wasnt the only one waiting for DD to get a chance at a goal………..
/k
Didier Drogba chalalala hey Didier drogba chalalalalla!!!

I luve guus, you luve guus we all luve guus!!!
I am loving it too!!!!!!
BC great pre-match article.
What u said was correct, let them have a goal, they think they are playing well.
I am extremely happy.
Lampard was superb, everybody played well, thats why Guus only used one sub.
Yipeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
KTBFFH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you CFCIR for joining me in that Arsenal blog and consoling those ass -anal fans lol….
There can only be 1 Drogba…. He must retire here!!!!!!
Ballack and especially Essien could have played better surely but they bossed the midfield alongside Lamps after their goal
They also gave a good hand to our back four against their attackers
How was Cech…back to normality…i was not able to see the match…
Seen Barca match…believe me …they can be easily beaten if Guus goes there with a great plan..Chelsea should try to get maximum out of set pieces …in which they are poor…dani alves plays as a left winger …great attacker ..not a good defender..always in the opposition half…Essien should employee in attacking role…

Cech was better. Might’ve saved the goal but it did come off Ashley’s hand to bounce over him. There was a great moment when he came out and punched the ball away at the expense of 2 Arsenal players and Drogba, all three were down and out on the pitch and the play had to stop. There’s some confidence then!
Missed a big match again today because of my work. But it must have been a good match. There isn´t even a single Arse-anal postings in the blogs of The Sun today, must have been a great match and a great result.
Although we deserved to win, we did play quite badly
The team had obviously been assigned to deal with the pace of arsenal on the wing, walcott was kept reasonably quiet and had a hard time trying to get the ball, adebayor had about one shot in the game, didnt really notice him for the rest
arsenal altogether were very poor, when chelsea started to read their passing after the walcott goal, they didn’t change anything,
Chelsea were very off colour and relied on physical strength to beat arsenal (was this a barcelona rehearsal?)
we played alot of aerial balls and we won something like 90% of them, arsenal have no truly strong players,
our wingers did alot of defensive work and the wingbacks attacked alot, the walcott goal was a result of anelka not closing down gibbs who crossed a ball to a isolated walcott , cech got a good hand to it but the deflection from ashley cole’s hand more or less changed its course
Cech looked abit yellow towards the end, he did make one or two drops toward the end but proved he is not scared of contact by outmuscling drogba and 2 arsenal defenders to clear a dangerous corner
arsenal knew they wouldn’t win in the air so at times didnt even challenge, the malouda goal came from a great lampard pass, malouda brought it down on his left, pushed the ball to his right foot and scored at the inside post with eboue doing nothing
the drogba goal was a beauty, i laughed, at about 85 minutes, arsenal piled foward, after some scrambling, the ball fell to lampard who picked out drogba, drogba outmuscled silvestre, with his first touch, beat fabianski who was well out of his area and then finished from an awkward angle with his left
to be honest, arsenal were no match, wenger had eboue, toure, silvestre and gibbs playing defence, he went for a 4-5-1 which was stupid as van persie was wasted and fabregas barely got foward, denlison and diaby may have well have scored own goals
we pressured arsenal well in their own half, but when we had the ball, you got the feeling there was no rush, it wasn’t our old style of play, but a new boring one, drogba had a shot cleared off the line, a clear penalty dismissed, anelka hit the bar, lampard rushed a shot he would normally put away
lampard deservedly man of the match
defensively rocksolid, alex, terry and ashley cole all deserve alot of praise, speed was rarely an issue with jt clearing danger
ballack played our defensive role and looked more comfortable
offensively, we looked abit confused at times, we played a longball game today, it worked, but if we don’t take our chances against barca, we will get punished
blue is alwayzzzzz THE COLOUR!!!!!!!
we back on top…we GOT OUR REVENGE AGAINST ARSENAL AND LIVERPOOL!!!!..BRING ON MANU NOW!!!! WE’LL TEAR THEM APART ASWELL!!!!
GUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSS IS THE MAN 4 US…………..
Replying to MissCFC: I agree Roman must get him to stay with us!! I think he has fallen in love with chelsea!!
DROGBA is the best striker in England!! he makes big contribution!!! works very hard when he does not have the ball….. super frank is the best mid fielder in England!!
I knew the goal was coming !
Now it is the Nou Camp !
I think the most important attribute to win against Barca is confidence.
Most teams try to defend too much against them, don’t try to score or be adventurous against Barca and end up flabbergasted and losing cos they give up too quickly!
Barca feeds on the fear of other teams and turn that into wins but when things go badly for them look at the faces of Eto’o , Messi , Iniesta and co; : they lose hope as fast as anyone else.
That’s why Real Madrid wallops them sometimes. Barca’s flamboyance and uber-confidence must be used against them.
Remember not so long ago when CFC slammed in 3 goals in less than 15 minutes into the Barca goal ? Can be , will be done so again soon.
It dont matter if its a 1-1 , 2-2, 3-3 , 3-2 , 2-1 coming next week cos the return leg is at home.
As long as we rattle them in their own den, and they come to SB with a hint of fear and apprehension there’s a helluva chance we will be in the finals.
BC, I am quite disappointed at you not posting a lampard pic too there in your post.
If the liverpool match was single handedly won by Drogba, then this one by Lampard. Two magnificent assists by lamps and created many more chances. Outclassed Fabregas – their best MF. His pic should have deserved some space in your post match comments, BC.
Overall a dominant display of football. A 2-1 victory doesn’t really reflects the Chelsea dominance. But we deserved to win by a larger margin. We gave no space to their midfielders. Their only source of attack was Walcott. The Drogba-Malouda -Lampard combination was occasionally ripping apart their defense and could have scored more but to a steady Toure.
My only concern was that we were allowing walcott too many runs that he almost exploited by his low crosses only to be missed by Diaby and Persie. What would happen when Messi takes on our left flank in the absence of A cole?
messi on left flank is worrying me too i only our central defenders have to be on thier toes all need is score at nou camp we
will concede i will be very happy if they draw or lose by one goal margin with a away goals like 3-2 scoreline we will beat them at the bridge
We ripped arsenal, dominated possession. We definately are getting atleast 2 trophys this year.
Catalans, you’re next.
Nice blog, bluechampion. Particularly like the head in the sand bit.
Omygod. Arsenal were demolished even though we did not play too well. I have aleways said it arsenal are light weight, and it has little to do with age. How will a midfield of diaby denilson and fabregass ever win a ballack lampard essien combo. What is wrong with wenger.
What is a Manu reject like sylvestre doing taking The Incredible Drogbs. The guy needs to move to madrid, he’ll do better in spain.
Ballack is yet to fully redeem himself in my books, but he definitely played better. Essien played worse than he normally does. My problem with him has always been his passing, he wont get it right.
All in all we’re in a winning mood. We’re in the finals, but I’ll just pray for things to ease for us. Let Everton beat Man U which they can if the ref doesnt act up. We’ve had too many tense matchups lately, we could use a breather
I want Everton at FA CUP FINAL and MU at Rome FINAL.We can beat anybody.
GUSS IS SO SPECIAL THAN JOSE.
I am an Arsenal fan who read your blog regularly. Good win to Chelsea yesterday and Guss was spot on on tactics.
The consolation for us is that our coach gifted you the match with the silliest lineup in Arsenal history knowing the competencies of the players. He does not rate the FA cup, but we the fans rate it as our tropphy cabinet has been empty for 4 yrs now. We will still beat you at the home of football, the Emirates , so don’t be too happy yet and enjoy the final berth if it means much to you!!

Thanks mate! I’m sorry if I offend you while I’m taking digs at Arsenal, Wenger and Arsefans. What’s football without that little banter between clubs?
You’re right when you said Arsene did not field the strongest eleven. I also think that Chelsea did not (have to) go beyond the second gear yesterday. Chelsea normally rise up to the challenge. Arsenal yesterday was not too much of a challenge. If Nasri and Arshavin had started, you’d have seen a different Chelsea performance while seeing an improved Arsenal performance. But don’t say that it was gifted or something. I’d say Chelsea would be too strong even for the best Arsenal lineup Wenger can come up with.
And yes, the cup final berth means a lot. Only cup final berths will lead to trophies right? ;-)
Bluechampion, we had this argument before we met in the EPL, and we know your excuse for that day. We will see you guys soon and you bet I will be here to commisserate with you. You have mentioned the goals you have scored, without mentioning the goals you conceeded, how nice! And I used the world gifted because, the lineup AW had could only guarantee one outcome, a Chelsea victory.
Hi BLUECHAMPIONS,lovely post and keep up the good work….I hope we beat Barca and make it to Rome
Replying to Confidentgoner:
you´ve only won once against us in past 5 years, that was against LFS last time; and on that day even wenger looked surprised by the win. Chelsea are back, so let it be your home or ours, thing is We are gonna win. this was a cup match, so we played a bit carefully, next time we´d play you in league, and there we might humilate you. Get prepared!
Replying to Confidentgoner: I don’t remember the argument but I’ll tell you there are no excuses. Arsenal beat Chelsea in November. I can blame it on Scolari but that has no significance. Chelsea were not a team then. They were falling apart. Anyway, you beat Chelsea after a long time but you did beat and that’s a fact.
‘Goals’ we conceded? If you’re referring to Walcott’s goal, I did make a one word mention and that’s all it mattered at the end of the day. If that goal had won the match for you, that requires further discussion. Anelka was ball watching and Walcott was given too much space inside the box. And from Walcott, it was in fact a poor shot. Luckily for him, with some help, it went in. It doesn’t matter to me much as Chelsea outscored Arsenal and all that I wanted was a win, very badly. And we got it!
The win is what counts, but I am not sure if I saw the same game as some of you because I didn’t thing it was a good1. It was actually very lame. Despite the fact that ars had a weakened back four we didn’t had a go at them as I wished and hoped we would do. I was surprised AW didn’t field this best player. But I guess he wanted to match us wit a defensive minded players like diaby and denilson. I would have picked song arshavin and nasri any day. I wanted them to field their best players, so they wouldn’t complain about not having their strongest team.
Essien´s passing is a big question mark. Ballack didn’t play well. The first 15 of the game was really bad from both sides. No pace no and both teams were just feeling each other out. Thanks to the history of DD and arsenal I was just waiting for him to get a chance. I think our buildup is to damn slow. But then again arsenal was doing deep defending and we didn’t really trouble them that much. Till DD scored it was a nervy one, because even thought we controlled the game, 1-1 is very dangerous. The longer it went the more anxious I got. But after the second goal, I knew we would hold on. Lampsy had nice assist on both goals, and both Malouda and DD did the best of it. All this whining from AW about cheap goals, I mean DD would have scored sooner or later. There wasn’t going to be anyone stopping him from that. As a team we had an average game including lampsy. I don’t think there was much he (Cech) could have done on the deflected goal. If am going to blame anyone its Anelka, cause they caught him sleeping and *Gibson could cross the ball wit ease to Theo.
I don’t know why but we seem to raise the bar just enough to beat teams. I did expect us to go the the final and we did, plus I was really glad we did shut fab, ade and specially RVP out from the game.
just to say to Iwasmissingjose, we’ve lost to arsenal more than once, we lost at the emirates last season 1-0 to a bacary sagna header but then we beat them 2-1 at the bridge
confidentgoner, it has to be said
has to be said, I was annoyed at almost a disregard, out of all the rest of the premiership arsenal is one of three other teams I actually like, the others being everton and aston villa
wenger showed a huge lack of motivation, as far as I was aware, arshavin, song, vela, nasri and eduardo were all available, why did wenger decide to use a formation that his team doesn’t play, players in ridiculous role and a style of football his side cannot do
eboue at rightback has never been a good move, why do it now
adebayor was never going to get into the game, he was given a goal on a plate and still wasted it, playing van persie on the left wing? on the right maybe, but left wing? I understand arsenal had injuries but the selection was stupid, wenger came out in arrogance thinking he could play an aerial game, absolutely not.
Hopefully everton can do us a favour today, we don’t need 2 finals against man utd in one season ;)
one more thing to add, with guus refusing to use quaresma domestically, does that mean he’s on his way out?
Replying to TruePlatinum:
he was never totally in, so he is in way always on his way out. when does his loan spell end? end of this season?
Replying to TruePlatinum:
and yea, i think we lost to arsenal when Jm just left and Ag was taking over? another transitional period loss?
manu are out of fa cup
It’s gonna be a blue day at Wembley now. I hope we’ll get to wear our royal blue kit on that date.
does that mean we´ve won the cup? 80 percent yes! 20% is only time gap now till final.
no everton are a good side we have to beat them
just to say to Iwasmissingjose, we’ve lost to arsenal more than once, we lost at the emirates last season 1-0 to a bacary sagna header but then we beat them 2-1 at the bridge
It was not at emirates but at the bridge. At emirates, we lost to William Gallas header.
IwasMissingJose
quaresma’s loan ends at the end of our season
but with our injuries, I would of thought hiddink would at least use him in premiership games to ease the burden on our players and keep them fresh for the champions league
i have two thoughts why guus has decided against it, 1, because we plan to buy him and dont want to inflate his price by allowing him to put in big performances or 2, because he doesn’t want the team to become reliant on him for various reasons, namely as he will go back to inter
in fact, BlueChampion may have a little more insight into this, what do you think bc?
on that loss last season, yes the changeover period was not good, players were distraught from the loss of mourinho, and i seem to remember a fairly biased referee, eboue broke john terry’s foot with a very intentional stamp, no card, disgusting
but anyhoo, everton came through for us today, they are still a good side and will be stronger with players returning from injury but can should beat them
there are rumours of joao moutinho and miguel veloso, I doubt hiddink would authorise mikel to leave for inter, if that rumour is true so veloso I’d say not happening, moutinho on the other hand, wants to leave, I’m not convinced he’s on his way to the bridge as I’m fairly certain rafael van der vaart is on the way in the summer
funnily enough, our next league game is against everton on wednesday, we should be looking to stamp our authority in this match, last time, we lost terry in a challenge I don’t think 100% warranted even a yellow and the red was appealed, it finished 0-0 and we should be looking to get all 3 points this time round
no everton are a good side we have to beat them
Yeah. everton are a good side . Last time, in Carling cup final, we had to play against spurs and still lost. So l consider every side as good one.. I wish Guus could try some thing in the next two games as we will be without ashley cole at camp nou.
I think he will only try if arsenal lose at anfield or else the gap will reduced to 3 points and next season, the team finishing fourth will have tough games to play to qualify for champions league..
Replying to cfc:
Replying to heyjose:
i know we should not underestimate them. But guys today they were playing against manU reserves (thats minus defenders) and they needed penalty shootout to win this match. So i expect Chelsea to crush them if we play to your fullest, and that of course we will.
Hiddink not changes the team because ..he just does not want to change the winning team…but i think players like Lampard and Ballack deserves rest…
I think aw tried to catch Chelsea by surprise by fielding unexpected eleven…he might have thought..we would have plans to stop arshavin and nasri.(like we did at anfield)…

zaneeb, just think about what you said
now if hiddink had plans to stop arshavin and nasri on top of walcott, then why would diaby and denilson pose more threat, lol
all wenger did was put his players into an unneccesarily uncomfortable position, adebayor on his own, van persie on the left wing, denlison in a defensive role, too many bad decisions to merit that idea, I can’t possibly understand what was running through wengers mind, if your defence is weak, switch to a very strong attacking formation that will keep possession, Arsenal don’t have the midfield nor the right kinds of players to do that in a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3 so they should of stuck to bogging down the centre of the pitch with slick passes in their 4-4-2
chelsea played good against arsenal.
dont underrestimate everton. even if man utd diddnt play @real@ team they had players like tevez vidic ferdinand berbatov in the game. the whole everton team dosnt have a price tag like berbatoc. still they played allot bether than utd. and dont forget they have won over liverpool this year to. david moyes i belive is one of the best coaches in england. everton wont be a easy game.
C’mon chelsea!
well one thing is fo shoo on the 30th may, KTBFFH….
I was dreaming of a united-chelsea final wit us winning on peneltyz but hey I wont complain if we beat everton
Hiddink not changes the team because ..he just does not want to change the winning team…but i think players like Lampard and Ballack deserves rest…
Even i thought abt it. but when u are chasing and in the tail end of the season. we don’t have options. if it continues like this and if we are six points above arsenal with 2 matches to go, I would like Hiddink to start Di Santo and stoch for blackburn and sunderland game..
WOW, BC has a great match prediction power…often you come up with correct score line and the goal scorers! Malouda and Drogba…spot on! I couldn’t watch the match because it wasn’t aired here, but i was “orgasmic” when i came to know the result! This time around, i had being excited “doubly” because of the fact that i almost celebrate our win and arse-anal’s lose equally. Yet again the word which best describes me is undoubtedly: “ORGASMIC”!!!
And BC, i am one of these (Only some weeks back, Malouda featured in the everyone’s list of ‘players out’. For most people he even topped the list.), Malouda was second only to Deco (i still want to see his back this May for reasons many) but now i take my words back and pray that Malouda will be with us and will continue to be a brilliant footballer that he presently is!
CHELSEA FOREVER!!!
We also have to give Roman credit for this sweet moments. Had he not pesonally blocked the Drogba transfer and had he not persuaded Hiddink to manage Chelsea, we´d not have come this far. What i am afraid of now is next season. Plz no Ancellotti and if not JM atleast Rajkaard.
http://timesonline.typepad.com/thegame/2009/04/debate-will-chelsea-be-better-of-without-ashley-cole-against-barca.html
one more thing to add, with guus refusing to use quaresma domestically, does that mean he’s on his way out?
I feel guus isnt using him because he might feel that quaresma wont be as commited as the other players – quaresma’s probably leaving at the end of the season….
Miroslav Stoch must play in Camp Nou.
just read the times online article on ashley cole
I have to say that the media really gets on my nerves, I wonder if they actually have someone who knows something about football watching games or if they just look at some brief stats, watch highlights and write an article on them
ashley cole terrible? sure, thats why saf playes ronaldo on the opposite side of the pitch to ashley every time man utd play chelsea, oh wait, bosingwa neutered him last time as well
ashley cole doesn’t defend? right……I have not heard of one goal that came from ashley cole not tracking back and making challenges, the only goal we’ve conceeded due to ashley cole was from the 2-0 defeat to liverpool when he decided to dawdle too much, but even then he tracked back to stop benayoun’s initial stop, would chivu have done that…..no, would clichy do that….no, evra would have given away a penalty or cleared out one of his own players, heinze would not of caught it….the list goes on
when scolari decided not to sign another leftback after selling bridge, I knew it would bite us somehow ashley has played every game since, so in a way, its good for him to rest
but back to the article messi isn’t the best on his weak foot, he puts in average crosses with it, but it isn’t an asset so I’d expect to see essien and bosingwa on the left side of the pitch
News of Quaresma/Deco swap is all over the place, any thoughts?? I don’t think its a bad idea to be honest, swapping a 25 yr old winger with great potential for a 32 year old… well Deco lol. The reason Guus doesn’t play him most of the time is because he needs a winning team formula. Quaresma can’t play in the CL and that is the cup Guus would want to win the most, so since he cant play Quaresma he wants to get the best out of his genuine wingers (Malouda, Kalou and out of position Anelka) to get a rhytm going. He wants his players to connect and to understand each other, if he throws Quaresma in every other game that disrupts the balance of the team and the momentum is broken. Now you may ask why is Quaresma playing in our reserves?? The answer is expereince, although it might not sound as much but by playing for the reserves he’s getting used to the english style of playing and if we do keep him for next season then he will be able to adapt in the premier league alot better by having the crucial expereince of the english style of play.
Barca have tough fixtures play than ours…
They have el classico in between our tie..while we have the fulham game…they have to play seville and valencia as well..so they will be stretched….

The way u explained the Q situation was exactly the way I look at it. He wants to keep a winning formula. Since we are in crunch time he doesn’t want to break up the team by playing Q. And why change a winning formation.
In Guus we trust, and we have the best crunch time player in the world, so am hopeful=)
/K
mancienne to start against barca at left back
very baad move hiddink
he ll be beaten simply by messi and he will lose his confidence
Chelsea will win the FA CUp,Champions League and The PREMIER LEAGUE simply we are the best

i think its a good move. The was Mancienne plays the game, cool and calm all the time, he may be able to stop Messi. And if he does, he would become a star overnight. Just think about the boost in confidence then.
these are the decisions that could go either way. But if Guus thinks he can do it, then most probably he would.
