Great result. Hiddink’s winning run continues. So does Drogba’s terrific run of performances. Look at that goal from Drogba. That was a very typical Didier Drogba goal. That’s what he does and what he does best. When he’s at his best, he personifies determination and confidence. It finally appears, that he is back to his best.
The second goal was a classic counter attack. Superb run and a very special cross from Quaresma which was finished very well by Alex. With the way Alex finished it, he looked like Luiz Ronaldo to me, for a moment. Confident and calm finish.
I didn’t get to see the match. I saw only the goals. I would watch the recording of the match and try to update this with the match analysis. Cheers.

R.Quaresma+Didier Drogba = WINNER !!
Inter too win 2 ..

great performance by the team, but need to get better in finishing. we played with our full force, and against coventry we should have scored more. But this is a cup match and they are never easy. Players are working hard and i´m confident we can bring Juventus down at Turin on tuesday.
KTBFFH!
Haven’t seen the match yet… How did “The Bison” do on his return?
Quaresma should start .. He was classic in the 45 minutes he played. Kaluo was tired and as usual Malouda was inconsistent.
Essien did ok in the 30 minutes he was on pitch… Overall a good match. Win is important and we progressed. Next up is the game which will mean a lot . May be we play a 4-2-3-1 ( since we may not have anelka) but we have essien and carvalho.
I got up at fricken 4:30 in the morning to watch the game and wasn’t disappointed. Kalou has got to be moved to the bench and played as a sub. and like cfc said I was not impressed with Malouda either. I look forward to the Lamps, Ballack, Essien midfield. I’m surprised how attacking Coventry were, they really played to win but were just outclassed. We needed to score 1 or 2 more (Look at the ManU result 4-0 ~ and Fulam is a midtable Prem side).
Really hoping for a Chelsea/ManU FA Cup final. Cheers to our new run of form!
hey bc, one question,
Where do u get your match pics from ? like this one, chelsea celebrating along with essien .. cant find it anywhere
Replying to GamingTheSystem:
I woke up same time also, once Drogba had his flash of brilliance I was wide awake. I would LOVE it if Chelsea dropped Kalou to the bench and started Essien in a 4-4-2. That would be the best lineup we could put out there. Since Scolari has been dropped Chelsea have won all 6 matches, 5 of them managed by Hiddink.
Hoping for a Chelsea/Man Utd final as well! Cheers!
Great result, although as I heard, not a comfortable match at all. But this is what makes Chelsea dangerous again – the ability to win even if we don´t dominate at all. Much better then a total domination without the ability to make something out of it.
As for Wednesday match, I have strong feeling Anelka will start along with Drogs. He is a counter-attack type of player, quick and able to exploit spaces in defence when an opponent has to create and score – which is exactly what Juve has to do. Drogs cannot be omitted, he is outstanding these days and only a fool would give him a rest in the CL round of 16 replay with 1-0 result from the first match, done by – guess who – Drogba.
Also, I think we will play 4-5-1 again, with Anelka as a wide winger. It is not his natural post, but he is now somewhat more adaptable than he used to be and can cope with it. On the other flank, there should be Quaresma. He also seems to be O.K. now, fresh and motivated. Moreover, he can dictate the play, hold the ball and slow down as well as provide a quick counter-attack (as we saw on Saturday). This is what I don´t expect from Kalou at all. Experience of the players could play a big role in Torino.
Otherwise, it is classics. Alex seems now pretty confident at the back and until The General returns, he is now my first choice along with Terry. Ashley and Bosingwa should play. In midfield, we don´t have anything better than a Ballack – Lamps combination with Mikel as the holding midfielder. Also, it works well now. Deco should wait for the chance, he has not done anything to earn the place in the starting 11. I was also delighted to see The Bison back, but as Guus says, he still lacks the match rhytm. For such an important match, it would not be wise to give him a priority instead of Ballack, leave alone Lamps; also Mikel is now a better option at the back. But I am eager to see him in some other match very soon.
So, my starting line-up for Wednesday (nothing too surprising indeed):
Cech – Bosingwa, Terry, Alex, A Cole – Ballack, Mikel, Lamps – Quaresma, Drogs, Anelka
2 things vovka. 1.we are not playing wednesday. 2. quaresma is not playing anyday, in the CL.
9 | vovka
Pity :(( I would like to see him on the pitch. In that case, Kalou is probably the only option, unless Guus risks Deco (and this would not be a senseless step, taking into account above written). I really don´t trust Malouda these days (but naturally would be happy if he proves me wrong). Sorry for Wednesday, I didn´t look at that properly.
Yes we won again. On the face of it, it seems CFC are doing great since Scolari left – are they really a better team?
I would say categorically not!
The same players are still playing day in day out( though suddenly no one here is complaining about it).
No orgenized game,no plan, rather it is sporadic with no coordination.
They don’t controll the game (in particular in midfield)-even against a 2nd league team(like yesterday).
Drogoba scored but shows he has no football skills. His goal was great(stilling the ball and beautifully shooting it from a narrow angle)but that was is only contribution.
Malouda same old garbage.
Frank and Ballack not dominating and not creating.
Mikel keeps on making mistakes.
Kalou the best player of late, was terrible in this one.
Bosingawa not justifying not only his price tag but also his inclusion in a game.
The bottom line: luck have somewhat changed- we grinding the results but really against lower level teams that we should have won comfortably.
The true test is still to come.
I saw the Manchester and the CFC games : we are far behind MU in any area of the game .

Quaresma is better than kalou and malouda together. this should be our front line :
——quaresma———————————————————anelka——–
—————————————drogba———————————————
im not happy to see anelka play on the wing, and neither is he, im not keen on the squad selection
i was impressed with our counter attack, to be honest, we should be avoiding injuries and playing quaresma in everything except champs league
i would of liked to have seen more goals, but we took our chances
One more possible line-up. This is my super-defensive, counter-attacking line-up against Juve – probably not of use not from the start, but during the match there could be done these substitutions:
Belletti for Ballack – Michael will be tired by that time;
Malouda for Kalou – he also could be tired (as it seemed on Saturday).
In this case, the line-up could look like this:
Cech – Bosingwa, Terry, Alex, A Cole – Mikel, Belletti – Lamps – Anelka, Kalou (Malouda) – Drogs
I hope to see this approx. 60min at the 1-1 or so… in this case Juve has to score 2 more goals and we have space to exploit its open defense. Lamps could be a provider, passing balls either to Drogba who would redirect it to Anelka or Kalou, sprinting from behind… or directly to open spaces where our front players would lurk for their chance. The Drogba presence would make Juve defenders busy so both Anelka and Kalou would have enough space for their runs.
Anyway, I would not play a classic 4-5-1; rather 4-2-1-2-1 or 4-2-2-2 with Lamps and Malouda playing more widely and a Belletti-Mikel defensive block providing long passes to them and to the attackers.
If what they say is true and Anelka will not be able to feature in Turin, then i suggest we should take 4-5-1.

That way we can ensure a draw, if not a win.
We need a goal at turin , hiddink must force the team to attack ,but wisely .They are a old team and can be damaged by Counter Attacks.
Replying to vovka: the game is on tuesday and Q wont feature in the game. he is cuptied
The only reason i could see playing malouda every so often is he is a natural left foot player, and it gives a balance to the team. Since robben and duff left, we dont have a natural left foot player in our attack and i think its crucial we buy a left foot player in the summer, unless we have a ronaldo who can play anywer….
I dont think essien will start at turin, he might be on the bench. I think it will be the same team, with anelka replacing malouda if hes fit enough to start.
BC……………….How about a look into the next season line up ? I dont think we should go and spend a lota money and buy big name players, like many r suggesting, we should keeep the current squad, may be get rid of one or 2 players at the max, trim the wage pattern, paying over the top wages to ageing players is not acceptable at all, if they don want to stay then, fair enough, let them go…

There is only one problem. Can quaresma play on the left? We could swap lampard and quaresma places.Juve could
make us pay down the middle. With del peiro and amoure(i think i ve spelt them both wrong)on hot form it could be very dangerous for chelsea.
That is why i put 3 in the middle
But quaresma is class I would offer over £14m for him!But we have other problems, hilario. We need a better keeper. Im thinking Boltons keeper(i cant spell his name, i dont know how!!??)would do very well. I say £10m, an unresistable offer u may say,NO WAY thats way to much but i say we need him.And i whooooood not play riccky(who ever he is)

Anelka is 90% out of this game and mohammed sissoko is out of the tie.
Another great result and another good performance by the team but I won’t call it a full circle performance, where we are solid defensively and also in terms on controlling the pace of the game and attacking and creating chances at the same time. But then again adapting to a different style of play every 6 month can never suit any team and that is what we have been doing for the past 18 months. It will take some time but Im sure once we perfect it, then Hiddinks style of play is what Chelsea has been all about, score an early goal and shut down the game, it sounds boring but end of the day a win is a win. Now for Tuesday, Camronesi and Sissoko are both out and it seems like Anelka and maybe Deco might not feature for us and since we can’t play Quaresma it means that Malouda is most likely going to start and that is where our problems start. Anyone who has been watchin our matches as of late can tell the problem in Chelsea line up revolves around Malouda and Ballack giving away every second pass to the opposition. Kalou and Deco have their days of glory and Mikel simply seems to mistime everything. I would love to have Essien playing against Juve but it is unlikely because in reality he is no where near fit enough to play a high tempo and hard game. He needs atleast 2/3 more weeks to get back into his stride. The game on tuesday will be difficult because its 100% confirmed that Juve will be attacking us head on so a defensive midfeilder will be required and at the same time I think we will be playing more on the counter attacks. If we can organise our defense solidly then I don’t see a reason why we should lose this game. Still throughout the 90 minutes we have to be on our feet because we all know how close Juve came to scoring at the Bridge, so at Turin they will be playing even more dangerously. Hopefully we can score and then shut the game down because we’re only carrying a 1 goal advantage with us. Anyway Blue is the colour and will always be so do us proud you Blues!!
The FA Cup Semifinal draw is out

I am pretty sure Guus will start with this 11. Carvalho is back. But Alex has been excellent. I wish Quaresma was eligible to play in CL matches. If he was, I would rather go for 4-3-3 with Kalou and Quaresma as wingers, Drogba leading the line. Anelka is unlikely to recover from the foot injury. Deco ruled out. Guus said he might play Essien from the start. So, above would be the starting 11 against Juve.
dont you think that chelsea should use pizzaro as a trade deal for diego because pizzaro is doing so well at werder bremen and diego is a very good midfielder who also plays for werder bremen

thats a good idea…
Pizzaro+10 m is good enough for diego..

Since it is a FA Cup weekend – I was wondering how everyone feels about the semi final draw?
Personally I’m very happy if Hull pull out a victory and we meet ManUre in the final. The quicker we can get some pay back from the events that happend last May the better, and if we drew them in the semi’s and won it wouldn’t feel quite as good just knocking them out.
I think knowing they will most likley be there in the final can help drive the team forward and grab us a win against Arse or Hull.
It is even better playing our semi final game on the 18th a day earlier than ManU / Everton tie just in case Everton nip a win. The sheer idea of playing ManU in the finals should be enough to keep the boys hungry to get there.
zaneeb, i think your valuations of our players are optimistic and the valuations of other players are deflated, none of the players you mentioned are worth 8 million, and i think the majority of them would struggle to obtain that tag. Short contracts, old age and dwindling stats will not fetch big money
you can slap at least another 5million onto each of the players you listed
we should also note, pizarro’s numbers come in huge part, from diego, without him, you can guarantee that he will score less, werder will know that
although we could do very nicely from those players, you would not see more than two of them here
i think we are looking at zhirkov and quaresma in summer acquisitions realisitcally as both would be fairly low prices
as for the draw, we get to take on a struggling gunners team, so we can avenge london bragging rights, everton man utd is an interesting tie, the unpredictable one, im happier to get man utd in the final, the only big team we should be worried about
Replying to denver:
he played for reserves, and then for FA cup, i feel he is ready to start. but lets wait and see.
@36 : Gunner may not be struggling any more come April .. Today Eduardo scored a stylish goal.. I love that guy and I personally feel his injury was the reason Gunner lost the momentum last year.
In Addition, Theo returned from Injury today . Ashravin is yet to click and come april, Fabregas and Adebayor would be also return from Injury
Our own Essien and Carlvaho would be match fit by then. If drogba plays, we never lose to arsenal.. It would be a good semi final..
I agree Zhirkov and quaresma are very good realistic summer aquistions.. how-ever mourinho if he stays in Inter will ask for Drogba ..
We need a one more midfielder & one striker .. Drogba, Essien and Obi Mikel would be off in Jan 10 for African cup
@ 32 and 33, hahahahha ur very optimistic guy,,, 50 million well i think you need to leave sheva out of it, hes no longer a chelsea player, hes gone for an undisclosed fee. I think we should keep paulo, hes been at chelsea for a while and hes a good utility player, who can play anywer along the backline, hes not the best but he seldom complains and get on with the job, You need such players in every team, the greatest example is john oshe.
Ribery for 22 million is not a chance, bayern will atleast slap a 30 million plus price tag on him. what i think is, the first one to go from chelsea should be frank arneson, who is useless, he hasnt found a single decent player from his scouting so far, pls correct me if i am wrong. We should get cple of decent wide players and that should sort the team, isntead of spending over inflated price for big names,
Replying to kool: I hope so too!
Replying to Zaneeb: I like that!!
I like ballack though and i would like to see him finish his career at chelsea. By the way i would not sell Ivano for the world
whats all this nonsense in this forum about the drogba show and other related crap…..is this is what is takes to impress chelsea fans…just two freaking goals from drogba and the people believe that they have conquered the world…..grow up guys…..just shows the condition of this great ottball club and their plight ………ok we might be in the semis of the FA cup but can we overcome united…..any sane person would say no on current form…they just have better players not big name players who only sound big but do nothing when they are actually required to…and the most important they have a stable manager and not a freak who gets replaced every year or sacked earlier……..can we win the champions league……getting past juve by itself loox hard…..can we overcome the likes of pool, united, barcelona…….i doubt……..this chelsea needs a complete overhaul….over the pasy years we have purchased the most crappiest players and they need to be offloaded……
the following layers need to be discarded asap if this chelsea wants to preserve its integrity and compete for titles in the future….
1. Deco….this was an absolute rubbishbuy from the ex rubbish coach….an absolute liablity nothig else…..barca were glad to classify him as a non performing asset and remove him from their balance sheet and transfer this bad loan to the books of chelsea……….this summer I would offload him at any damn price….
2. Kalou…..an absolute rubish player with no talent and no skill….all he has his pace….which without other attributes if of no use….has been given enought ime to acertain that no matter how long he stays at the club he will never develope eacuse the sad truth is that he does not have what it takes to be at this club….a club like stoke or WBA suits his class.
3. Malouda……the biggest disappointment in recent times…..we had an opportunity to get rid of him last summer but we still stuck wid him hoping that he would become another ronaldo or sumthing……lol…..the most uninterested player that you will ever see and after all that he still has the audacity to demand playing time…..forget playing him i would ground him and slash his wages by a minimum 80%.
4. Ballack……no dobt he has a been a great player but just joined chelsea a lil too late in his career…had he been here earlier things would have been better……the only decent run he had in our side was last year at the end of the season where he played well but other than that his contribution has been as good as nil…..and now he has become an absolute pile on for the team…..dosent have the legs to carry him through…..I would have no iota of a doubt in my mind that the club would not extend his contract and would be happy to see him being released of his services…..ballack by no means can survive another full year in the tough and the demanding premier league….the club has to look forward and bid farewell to this great player….
5. Drobga………no matter what he had done for the club and what he can still so the entire world knows that he has the worst attiude on and off the field……he embarasses himself and nobody else when he does ridiculous things….besides that he is not getting any younger either……..i am surprised that the club has still stuck by him as no other club would stand his antics….sir alex or arsene would have kicked him off from the side long time ago had be been there……inter want him its no secret and i would gracefully do business wid them and encash whatever amount i can from them for him….probably close to 18m pretty close to what he is worth……….and i would not comit the mistake by keeping him in the team for the next season.
6. Alex…..this fella thinks he is franz beckenbaeur…..he needs to be reminded that he is not and must be brought back to earth…..makes way too many mistakes in fact if you see his performances in every match you will see that he always has atleast one big mistake in every match….and never puts flawless performance….with terry and carvalho fit he can only dream of playing regulary….a squad player and nothing else….with mancinne and ivanovic at my disposal i would get rid of him asap at around 10 to 12 m……
The rest of the squad is really fine…..
Replying to Sunny:
Well if you are suggesting to offload Drogba, Ballack, Alex and Kalou then all i would say is no thankyou and fuckoff. you really talk like Juventus side playing mind games before the match. If you´re afraid DD is gonna score in Turin, then be afraid, very afraid, he will score a hatrick there.
and yea those goals will be assists from Ballack and Kalou, and Alex is gonna defend hard and win every header in the D areas either side.

what else could one expect from a moron like you…….its cuz all lowsy suporters like you unfortunately who have almost spread out everywhere that this club has not achieved what it should have by now……you keep such low hopes and ambitions that your thinking only demonstrates that you as an individual will never progress and move on in life….just a reply to your above quotes and an answer to your pathetic knowledge on soccer……hom many assists has ballack given the team this season to justify his place…..as a fact you might give a few on the contrary I can give you 100 opportunties where he has squandered sitters…….if a sane person would apply the law of averages then he would see that he might have done a few good things but he has fucked up on several more occasions……..so the bad completely outweighs the good and that is not a sign of a good player…..I can say the same thing about kalou as well so i dunt wanna right a thesis on him ……and the same can also be said about deco as well………i dare not say the same thing about drogba cuz he has perfromed in the past for chelsea….. i understand that…….but the problem is his attitude…..its been perturbing to see his comments and his behaviour……though nobody doubts his potential but he sounds more like a confused soul to me who does not know what he actually wants in life……n chelsea fc is by no means a place for confused souls…..he has been whinning and behavin like a nagging bitch about the departure of jose and that he wanted to join him….as a pro footballer you cant do that…..gotta respect your contract and move on with things…..and as a matter of fact the club wanted to sell him last summer but nobody wanted to pay 25m for him or even higher to secure his services and thats why he still it at this club….now if that amount could be lowered substantially then he would be permitted to go….we can get someone of his quality by spending but it is very very imporatnt to remove somebody who has a negative influence on the team…
Steve mcmahon once made a great remark of drogba, he said ” Didier drogba is one of the most gifted players in the world…..with his pace power strength very few can be as efective in a lone striker role…..he further said that it is important for any player to keep his head on his shoulders and not get distracted when drogba does that he is one of the best in the world…….but the question now is how often does he have his head on his shoulders????……..the answer is not very often and probably that explains why he still hasnt achieved more than he should have achieved in his career…..
Replying to Sunny:
Sunnyboy, you have right to think that you are right. I don´t want to convice you, coz your brain is too small for that to understand.
Just a a note for you, the repetitive inclusion of Ballack in games despite the change of 4 managers since his arrival is not a coincidence. I am sure they know better than you and I do.
Regarding DD, he is an intelligent and a sincere player who does his job regardless of how loud he sulks and whines. He speaks out what he feels, and i find nothing wrong in that. And trying to demotivate a player who is hitting form for club just shows what sort of moron you are.
kalou is getting better, he is starting to get games. No one turns a star overnight. He´s still young and has time to get in form. He can be our future assest, and my hit form after DD retires.
But chelsea will crush Juventus in tuesday, try to enjoy the game.

Correct with Deco, partly with Malouda. Ballack is a bit too old, but still can deliver when he is treated properly – which was not the case of Scolari who forced to play him 40 games in a row. This would kill even Ryan Giggs, who is in a magnificent condition, taking into account his age. Drogs sometimes has his days, but when he plays well, he is irreplaceable and now he seems to get back on track. Find somebody who can replace him, man – you can´t. The biggest mistakes were done with Alex and Kalou. The first is one of the hardest-working defenders and an optimal substitute for either Terry or Carvalho. I really don´t envy Ivanovic his position, but it is almost impossible to get into the squad against such a trio. Kalou is one of the most gifted players we got; just look at some of his past matches and you will see. Now he seems to be tired, but definitely he is set to a bright future yet.

Deco is an arrogant player. He wouldn’t have come to Chelsea if we would have had someone else then LFS. He knew no one else would take him so he did him a favor. There is a reason he didn’t feature much wit barca last year. So I totally agree wit u.
Malouda well can’t play in EPL. That’s for sure. Hell wit him cause he don’t seem to give a fuck. And he is not a team player either. Agree wit u
Ballack been so nonchalant lately, it really has bugged me. Like u said he loses every other pass. I agree wit you. I think ever since the final he hasn’t really found himself, the Euro 2008 final that is. Agree wit u
Alex hmm had lots of hope in him but the more he plays the more I realize he isn´t a top defender. I hope we keep him in the squad because I Ricky seems injury prompt and Ivanovic is on the run to viola.
Drogba, been injured a lot lately. Ur right he is not getting any younger, but a game fit drogba does so much for Chelsea and even u cant deny that. Just knowing he is upfront gives the rest of the team and us fans (or at least me) a lot of confident. I hope he stays! I want him to stay. He has said a lot of bad comments and u can put that label “me-myself-n´-drogba” at him. But he wasn’t treated well by LFS and all the injuries made it touch to perform. If he shuts up and acts classy he is the best center forward in the world. I wouldn’t want to change him for any player. With that being said, Chelsea got to look for the future. And start rebuilding. Not an overhaul but by adding a few young guns and by offloading the lazy ones.
I almost forgot to comment on kalou. Well recently he has been decent. Overall thought he just doesn’t have what it takes. This is his new nick kalouless. And the stupid comment about Arsenal being a great side and AW being a great coach and he would like to play for him. Well I can’t really se whom he would replace in their best starting 11. Get on wit your life and give Ur all for Chelsea you. I would trade him to man u for J-Park.
What about the rest of the squad? Joe Cole? Jose B? lets talk about this in the offseason thought..right now am starting to feel the heat. I cant wait to get this game over wit against Juve. Cause after we advance I am sure that we will only get better, wit what GH wants us to do and the players (essien & Ricky) getting more time to practice and play together.

drogba putting effort in is unplayable and id rate him in the top 5 strikers on the planet, finding someone young to replace him is hard, he is just one of those players that needs nurture which scolari could not give him but hiddink has
yes the team is disorganised but with our squad depth, you can’t expect hiddink to do too much, although, i would of thought quaresma would play all premiership games and we’d rest ashley more
with essien back, im certain he will start with mikel and lampard
mikel has done well considering at 21 he has been thrust into a position that he isn’t ready for, the effort and ideas are there which is more than can be said for deco malouda and kalou
alex is a key player, just because he makes a few mistakes doesn’t make him a terrible player, alex has improved in leaps and bounds and is contributing to goals as well which is what we need
if we could rest our players, im sure we’d be scoring more goals
sunny i understand your viewpoint but don’t agree with all of it
drogba frustrates me alot sometimes, but there are few players who can do what he does, franco could if he bulked up somewhat but i can honestly see drogba going to inter with balotelli-barwuah coming this way
don’t worry, the overhaul is coming, we just need to hold on for now
Diego £19m Quaresma £17m Nakamura £20m Schweinsteiger £18m Sneijder £18m Joao Moutinho £16m Jaaskelienen £10m
these are plenty of players we could sighn a few.
Replying to chelsea no1: i like your style!! I dont think Nakamura is worth so much but i like him!! (great free kicks), if we buy Sneijder we would not need Joao Moutinho. we probably wont try for Bastian… we could go for Ban arfa instead. Heard Guus wants us to go for Van Der Vaart. but I think i like Sneijder a bit more. (either one will do)
Replying to TruePlatinum: balotelli is too full of himself!!! reminds me of CR7. I say just going for Podolski he is a good German .. they work hard a dont complain … well maybe not too much!.. and we give Di santo a good run and he will be great!! the lad is what 19 and looks class already!!
you guys your forgetting to put Yuri on that list!
guys remember Slobodan Rajkovi?.. (can he play LB??). I say convert him into a utility player. we could call him back if we cant hold on to alex or Ivan over the summer.
let me preview the attack i would like to see at the Brigde:
Quaresma/kalou/Cole——–Podolski/Drogba————-Yuri Zhirkov/Ben Arfa
guys I say is we are going to replace ballack (hopefully after he retires) get a German replacement… personally i like Bastian or Tim Borowski
