Chelsea sack Luiz Felipe Scolari

The inevitable has happened. This was not a surprise at all. Hats off to Roman for sacking Scolari in the month of February. Like me, he knew that while nothing would improve from now till the end of the season, a lot can go worse.

While I have been critical about Scolari for months now, it was after the draw against Hull, I said it with conviction that Scolari should go. Looks like, for once, Roman and I are in the same wavelength when it comes to Chelsea managers.

This is the message from the club website:

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) with immediate effect. The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager. Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon. Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season. In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now. The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible. While that continues Assistant Coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.

Very good message from the club. Very clear and transparent. I would completely second that paragraph except the last line. I can’t imagine Ray Wilkins taking charge of this Chelsea team for even one day. I hope we find the manager soon enough. But this time around, we should get the right man.

Scolari = sacked.

Discuss.

2. Joe - 9th Feb

Scolari gone, good.

3. Nick - 9th Feb

Good riddance Scolari.

Now we need a manager to take care of us till the end of the season. RW should stand in while we acquire another manager.

My shortlist:
1) Rijkaard
2) Mancini
3) Hiddink
4) Zola
5) Schuster

4. nikhil - 9th Feb

Hoo-Ray!!! Hip-hip Hoo-ray!!!
Now this is what I call a GOOD NEWS !!!
Thank U LFS for an unforgettable (unforgiven) season… you are good but just not for the BLUES… Good Luck (better luck next time).

10. mingus - 9th Feb

Our club needs a brilliand tactician and a tough dicipline manager. with the current squad, you can forget about “pretty football” becouse it ain’t gonna happen. You give this team good tactical orders and motivate them and they can beat any team on the planet.
Jose was a good pick, David Moyes is also a good one, I think Zola is too nice for this team, not that I don’t respect his abilities.
Schuster?? he already failed with Real, why should he succeed here?

11. hotseafydo - 9th Feb

surely, we shall be motivated to put a challenge forward. we have played almost all our big games except Arsenal and Villa, so if we can coast through all the matches we can really put a challenge. i believe thing will now change as the stagnation from LFS was surely no way out.

i credit the board for taking this big step, however the bigger step is to get a coach/manager that can now deliver.

12. EmeraldBlue - 9th Feb

Unlikely but Martin O’Neill would be a perfect long term replacement.

Best wishes to Felipe. It just did not work out – it happens!

13. bluefanforever - 9th Feb

desperate times call for desperate measures…may be start of something new…the rebuilding begins..bold move which was necessary to salvage something from the season and its good to see the the men in charge are willing to make decisions and not just wait and watch CFC fall to ruins..!!

cmon Chelsea..!!

14. nikhil - 9th Feb

ha ha ya ya the long awaited axe has fallen . I had a couple of LOOSERPOOL supporters calling and expressing condolences . I said this is the happiest news i have had in a while so don’t spoil the occasion :P . YA i wish Rjkaard comes . He should do good . or even Avram Grant for that mater. even he was able to use our team with only Israili division in his resume yet scolari with all his world cups could not .
Do you guys think the buck should fall only on the manager or some players

15. denver - 9th Feb

“Sky Sports are speculating that Guus Hiddink – of the Russian national team – and Avram Grant, who guided the club to the League Cup final, the Champions League final, and second place in the Premier League, are understood to be forerunning candidates, possibly together, with the former as Director of Football and the latter as head coach.”

16. TruePlatinum - 9th Feb

i want martin o’neil to stay where he is, he is doing something special with villa, i dont want to see that ruined
denver, rikjaard all the way
rijkaard will make our defence fearful again
he will make our midfield attack
he will get our strikers firing
he will bring tactics
sort out our youth system
find the talents of tomorrow
is the RIGHT personality

17. hotseafydo - 9th Feb

Rijkaard likes to play like scolari and we do not have the players with such skill to execute a large percentage passing. Guus Hiddink may be the right choice as he seems adaptable to turn things around where he has going by player several tactics.

we are waiting fir the right decision………………please

SCOLARI IS SACKED OFFICIALY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

19. denver - 9th Feb

Replying to TruePlatinum:
I respect guys like you . we have stood by out team through the good time and the bad!! god knows he would have killed us. we couldnt take any more, all ore records.. gone!!! turned us into a beatable team, i will not rant it has passed, so lets look forward, they better but out a list they want to interview.
I want a manager that will love and defend chalsea’s honor like Jose did.

they better get a damn good manager with EUROPEAN experience!!! and tactical know how!!! o wait thats JOSE, second would be Rijkaard, then Mancine!!
Kenyon dont tell me I can choose a better manager for chelsea than you!!

20. DanaBlue - 9th Feb

At long last, the clown has been sacked. Now its time to keep cool and get the right manager for the long haul. I would strongly suggest Michael Laudrup and I’m sure Roman can pull the right strings and get Laudrup out of Russia. Laudrup is an intelligent young manager who I’m sure will be able to motivate the players to come out of the hibernation Scolari put them in. I do not give very much for Rijkaard, Hiddink, Schuster and Mancini, none of them have got enough bottle to make a new CFC revolution, like the one the special one carried out.

21. Blu Rehman - 9th Feb

FINALLY HE GOT SACKED!!!

22. denver - 9th Feb

we need a manager with style boot one and off the picth.. no trainers to big matches… we need suits!!! and someone properly dressed to represent chelsea! RIJKAARD AND MANCINE HAVE STLY O BY THE WAY JOSE HAS A LOT OF STYLE….
***please not more national team managers!!!!!!!

23. denver - 9th Feb

do you guys want grant to stand in?? he did lead us to the finals of the CL,
we are not looking for a revolution .. we just want back our consistency that we lost, then we can build from there!

24. GUUS HIDDINK - 9th Feb

Please bring me to chelski!!!

25. DanaBlue - 9th Feb

If we don’t get a revolution, we will die a slow death due to ageing and nostalgia. It’s time to let go of Jose, he was great and the best that ever happened to CFC, but its time to move on now. I hope we will get something from this season, but realistically I think we should prepare for 2009/10, that means we got plenty of time to rebuild CFC to former glory.

26. denver - 9th Feb

Hiddink director of football wouldnt be bad!!

guys this is what has happened…. quote from a sky article: “They are starting to say now at the board level ‘we’re worried about fourth’. If they’re starting to worry about Champions League spots then the manager has no chance.”
this is what has happend the board were worried about 4th.
scolari’s mentality was all wrong for chelsea.. i remember him saying if he loose a lot of game and still win the EPL he will be fine…. thats not chelsea… at chelsea we dont loose!! so he was doomed from the get go with that line of thinking!!

27. CFCIR - 9th Feb

THAT IS A VERY GOOD NE FOR ALL F THE CHE3LSEA FANS IN THE WORLD.
Chelsea ust sack Ray Wilkins too,Get back avram grant plus FRANK RIJKARD.This is the best option for us

28. Blue_M - 9th Feb

A sad day for football !

But now that the first half of you guys wishes is accomplished – lets see what the new guy in town will bring .

Read my lips : NOTHING

CFC is going down hill .

No long term planning ,which was the reason I thouhgt they brought Scolari in the first place.

Shame on AR and shame on CFC board.

I am a shame being a CFC fan.

29. denver - 9th Feb

it might be mancine.. he was in england for english lessons some time ago

30. Jaz - 9th Feb

I say no more to managers with language problems, this was one of the biggest reasons why LFS coudn’t adapt because he didn’t know how to communicate with the players and he started to lose them slowly but surely. We need a manager with vision and someone that can tighten our defense the way it was. Also someone who has the vision for long term and is able to bring the best out of the young talented youth squad we got. Also we need to stop with the influx in one dimensional players i.e. having Lampard + Ballack and bringing in Deco?? The team needs to be rejuvinated, so please no more 28+ players because there is no long term future with them. I think we should try and keep Quaresma if he impresses by the end of the season. The sacking of LFS was most likely all planned out a long tym ago thus no big spending in Jan, because RA + PK knew that LFS will not last long, I woudn’t be surprised if the next manager has already been appointed and dining with the board as we speak. Hopefully we can turn the season around, I know that hoping to win the PL is ridiculous at this stage, but the FA cup and a good finish in CL is still in our hands, so we should keep our heads high and hope for the best. As a last note I would like to say Thank You LFS, he is a good manager but just coudn’t cut it at this level, wish you all the best for the future!!

31. D.Ilijazi - 9th Feb

Definitely a good news and I am really happy it came soon enough. Now we can partially save our season.

I am a bit sceptical about Hiddink – he is a bit old-style coach and probably more suited to lead a national team than a club. But his days of glory at Barcelona cannot be taken lightly and if he comes, it would be generally good news for me. Definitely better than Wilkins – although Avram was not greeted with a big amount of trust last season and he prowed many of his critiques wrong, something tells me this would not be the case.

The best thing for me would be – to take Zola and Clarke from West Ham and take them time to build up a new Chelsea. Definitely this will not happen, at least not now. So it seems for me to be only one option – Frank RIJKAARD. Please bring him to Chelsea and let him do his job longer than till the end of the season. This is the best man we can get.

Last, but not least – COME ON CHELSEA!!!

35. Spyder - 9th Feb

Its a great news!!! Feel sorry for LFS, but it was inevitable coz our performances were going from bad to worse. If you guys remember our match against Fenerbache last year then you would remember their manager Zico. I wish Chelsea gets him, but, unfortunately he’s signed for CSKA Moscow. I just wish that we get a manager who’s tactically sound and would dare to substitute under performing stars. I just hope Kenyon gets it right this time. Also, we need to sell Minero and Deco, whom we never needed as we had enough cover. One of the worst moves was selling Cudicini and Wayne Bridge.

I AM TOTALLY AGAINST AVRAM GRANT. This guy survived only because of Clarke. Grant’s substitutions and reading of the game was no better compared to LFS and if any of you have observed – we were on cloud nine when Clarke was on board, but when he left we started to under perform slowly and to a point where there was no difference between us and a mid table team !!!. Also, another thing with LFS could be the language barrier. He was not good at English and this could also have resulted in a lot of misunderstanding with the tactics, coz I wouldn’t expect a world cup winning coach to under perform so badly. Anyways, its good thing that he’s sacked. Now, I expect us to play every game with hunger and desire to win, I want my old Chelsea, the real Chelsea, to show its true colours and start beating every team that plays against us whether its a mid table or the top four teams and especially Juventus, so that we can progress into the next round of CL.

I would want to see Clarke return and want Zola to be in-charge.

Keep the blue flag flying high. CFC for life.

36. True Blue in L.A. - 9th Feb

This is a good thing guys, it shows that the club is refusing to not contend and that they are a club committed to winning. They saw that couldn’t happen with Scolari so they had to make a change. I dream of a Mourinho return but I know that’s not going to happen. They should try and make the right decision this time though. Ever since Mourinho left nothing good has happened.

Quoting israeli

AG thats the only name sould take over

Is that a joke?

37. TruePlatinum - 9th Feb

denver – massive respect

israeli- are you honestly a serious chelsea fan? avram grant at the helm, lol, the players moaned more about him then they did scolari, say no more

im hearing alot of stories, namely that scolari was not favoured among any of our strikers and had in fact, broken down relationships with them

bluechampion, do you mind putting a poll together, just to see the manager everyone wants

38. TrueBlueInd - 9th Feb

Good luck. I guess you can support Manchester United (Manure) or Manchester City(Middle Eastlands) or Liverpool(Looserfools) or any other team. You have got a lot of teams to support so dont ashame us by being a fan of CFC. For glory hunters like you there a team called Manure which you can support and its a team which prides itself on its glory hunting fan base. So, go ahead mate…………. cheers with your new team.

40. IwasMissingJose - 9th Feb

wow, finally i heard any positive news from chelsea after 3 years!!!

41. TruePlatinum - 9th Feb

blue m does sound a little strange in the head

42. Ubersoldat Khan - 9th Feb

You chelsea fans are hilarious. I cant believe you guys are happy to see Scolari sacked. He was not even given 1 complete season to prove. And do you really think this will improve things? Money may buy success, but you cant buy class. But the funny thing is, Roman is running out of money too.

Now go on, block my messsage, reality is always bitter!
