There goes the FA Cup. Of all teams, mighty Southend has knocked off lowly Chelsea. Surprise, surprise. In a penalty shoot out. I have no words to describe my feeling now. An utterly shambolic performance. If Scolari cannot motivate his bunch full internationals to beat Southend United over a two-match tie, what else is he expected to do? Tell me, how difficult is it to beat Southend United. I’ll read out the teams that have beaten Southend this season – Cheltenham town, Brighton, Leyton Orient, Oldham Athletic, Leicester City etc.
I wonder what Scolari would say in the post match interview. He has run out of excuses. There’s absolutely nothing left, pride included. Surely I could have managed this Chelsea team to beat Southend. I mean, even our reserves team could have beaten Southend or at least would have played lot better than these seniors did. I want to know what’s happening behind the screens at Stamford Bridge. None of the players seemed like they cared about playing for Scolari. It is not a question anymore, it is a statement – Scolari has lost his dressing room.
How difficult is it to avoid a defeat with this Chelsea team against a Southend team? It is quite clear that there is absolutely no confidence in this team. As I have always said, we have only one way of playing and we are boringly predictable and toothless in attacks and spineless in defence. May be the players did not rate the FA Cup highly. May be they just wanted to get the distraction of FA Cup out of the way. If that’s the case, we at least could have played our reserve team or youth players.
Now, Scolari has been a proven loser in premier league, champions league, carling cup and the FA cup. What are we waiting for? If it was Ranieri or Jose or Grant with these kind of results and performances, they would have been sacked. Scolari should go. I’m not saying he should be sacked. He should improve Chelsea or he should go. I’m so gutted now that I might break my laptop and TV into pieces. I’m off (bangs the door loudly and leaves).
Dear Phil – Please prove me wrong. It is not that difficult. Prove me wrong. I’d love that.

ummmm the game hasn’t even happened yet…are you a psychic?
@ BC why have you done this??? the game has not been played yet….. have your really given up !!! or are you hoping for this?
This is the last thing I want to see. Now that I’ve posted this, I strongly FEEL that Chelsea would win. With this article, our bad luck or misfortune or the voodoo has been exorcised. All’s fine now. We’ll make a fresh start from tonight’s match. Our season starts tonight.
My predictions have gone wrong for the last 10 matches or more. I hope even this time around, my prediction goes wrong and we win the penalty shoot out or heck, win by the full time.
C’mon guys, a little humour here and there won’t do us bad . . .
what the hellllll
we r bluesss man
we rstill in the title race and y did u done like thz
Wow!
I thought for a moment that this is a real post match comment.
But like you said this post is intended to clear off all voodoo surrounding the chelsea…
Actually this only makes my mind relaxed for todays match.
Comom Blues… Lets start winning… Not necessarily in style…
We need goals not beautiful goals.
We need to defend not necessarily beautiful to watch
Dont kiss the opponents like we did in Manu match. Treat them as your rivals. Go and kiss them after the match
ur a master blogger bluechampion luv this site i hate to see chelsea in this state paind wen my frnds who r – man u, pool and arse-nal fans make fun of chelsea i want em to do well no matter who plays or who coaches or manages or owns i want CHELSEA back – JM whr the fuck r u??
P.S. – my blood is BLUE!!
BC, great post !
Chelsea must ban lazy players, even all of them for this performance.Young players=Spirit til end of the game
Okay, the title of the blog was a wake up call! I personally hope and pray that the players have enough desire and pride left to prove you wrong. A failure today would definitely weaken team and fan morale into a pit that would be very hard, if not impossible to climb out of. At such a point, the only thing that can be done is to bring up more reserve players and sitting the heartless veterans (Drogba?) down.
Reading Scolari’s comments and articles about him on the BBC, it seems that he understands that he has hit rock bottom and has an idea of what he needs to do to turn things around. Let’s all pray that we’ll see something new today. Granted, it is Southend and not Manchester. But, a win here means Chelsea is still alive in the FA Cup. Sometimes a small stepping stone can be very significant. Technically, a treble is still possible.
Good one BC!!!!! It was an old police trick and I fell for it. I opened all possible sites including the CFC site to see if this is true. lol……
Lets hope that Chelsea win tonight….. I think Scolari has a point to prove here. Lets hope he does. Thats all that we can hope and pray for.
kick scoari’s ass, I wont see any game until this guy is sacked
there’s no way left..Scolari must be sacked….he’s makin me sick..like BC said, i’ll nearly broke my TV on that blues vs devils fixture(wtf!!)
Great post BC, I hope to God that all our misfortune has been exorcised.
According to Roman, only 6 Chelsea first-team players are assured of a future at Chelsea: Terry, Lampard, A.Cole, Essien, Mikel and Cech. Ironically those are pretty much the only players I want to stay on.
@BC, feel the same here,
Scolari, you have to forget Brazil, any play Chelsea like how Chelsea were. If we don´t have the set of players that suits your formation, then we need a formation that suits the set of players we have. Please realize this boss! Forget that you won world-cup. Think that you are young and you haven´t achieved anything yet, and you´ve to prove yourself yet. We desparately need a win, we want you to succeed. Just be a bit more rational, liberal in your ideas about football, don´t be afraid to experiment new things, just give a try…… We´d forget the past, just give us a hope that you can turn the things around….
Hey Scolari, show us that blue is your colour too!!!
I think the problem in hiring a ex portugese boss is that they dont know how to handle strikers and thats what exactly happening with scolari.
Worry not guys. The title might still hold good. Incidentally, Southend United are also known as ‘the blues’. But then, the scoreline I mentioned shows quite clearly isn’t it? Anyway, still worry not. We’ll come through.
Surprisingly, Scolari calls this match as the ‘match of the season’! It’s sad to know that our manager calls this match, a match against a league one opponent, as our match of the season. Again, we play a league one opponent, this is a cup decider, the manager calls this our match of the season – we simply can’t be losing.
I’m not sure what would be the scoreline or how well we will play tonight. All I can say is, we will win, only because the other option is unthinkable given the current situation.
For the live match chat, be there at BC shout!
BC, you got me for a second, you bad lol
I was just reading about LFS blasting the players saying some players dont give their all or only playing 60-70 % of their ability and when I came here and saw the headline I was like…WTF did I get stuff twisted lol
good post as usual.
the good thing about this game is we have got everything in our hands. Anything then a win will be a huge blow, not cause we will be out of the FA cup but due to our recent slump this will only lower our spirit and confidence to the all time low. Despite what they think of the coach, the players should be professional and take care of business.
Good jod Southend United, but your one week on the spotlight is over.
Chealse to win 3-0
But I take even a win after penelties..=)
come on chelsea
BTH do u guys thing it will be possible to watch the game today??????
correction “BTW do you guys think it the game will be shown on i-net today?”
BC it a matter of money. they cant sack him cause he has a contract and he would still get payed. its good let them give him a chanse untill summer. and its not only his fault its the players and the board. they should get new players and get rid of some. maybee the board has put to much pressure on our managers? even jose had a bad last year at chelsea. cause scolari is a goad coach, its got to be something.
Quoting True Blue in L.A.
Well, I almost seconded that. What did Carvalho do for not finding a place in this list? And why not Bosingwa? I’m also tempted to retain Kalou. useful player to come in at the 70th minute. He has changed games when he comes in as a sub.
Interesting fact: If the game gets to the penalty shoot out tonight, the odds for Chelsea winning is only slightly better than Southend winning!
he diddnt say its the match of the year. he said its the match if the year for southend and chelsea should have the same mentality so its the match of the year for uss to.
actually i m tired of this things too. for hopin and prayin and lookin for a win in fcukin each game even if we play against weak one’s and also hopin and prayin and lookin for another teams to loss or at least to draw. i am really tired of this inconsistent chelsea which have problems for every day. where is that relief we had years ago ?! seems all gone.
Quoting bluefan #1
I thought he said ‘for southend, this is their match of the season and it’s the same for us’. Given the current morale, I think it is better to play this match as if this is our match of the season.
is this what you expect, i think we will be saved by some individual performances
F*** u BC lol u gave me a heart attack
that was the best prank ever lol.
guys scolari already fcuked up the match of the season when he went down 3-0 to Manure scum. this match pretty much wont mean much to me!
guys I think drogba is out come summer!! he will only be used as a sub now…. scolari will revert to him because anelka was the one racking in those goals!
e must deco too because that man has been shit!! I would prefer to seen Belleti beside lampard.. Belettie just plays better in the middle
come on guys,we will win this.
The rot was started by RA by buying 29 or 30+ “legends” like Sheva and Ballack for around 30 mil each in fees or salary.
When actually it was the rest of the team between 23 and 28 that had to do the hard work and “became” the stars they are today and won those titles not those two guys who “were” stars.
Look guys, even Mancity is after Kaka who is lots younger than Sheva and Ballack.( and make RA look like a cheapskate )
So I question RA’s judgement ( and that of his advisors ). But the geezer will of course not listen to a azzhole like me if he didn’t listen to the reason and achievements of JM.
But mark my words : the other day it was not the scoreline that rattled all us Chelsea fans but the capitulation that incensed us. We were humiliated by the results of RA’s insensitivity and backward thinking and leading us to believe that he was a man of vision and sportsmanship.
A man of his age should be mature enough to know that although he has paid for the club( and might even profit from it one day), the ownership of it is in conjunction with the million of fan all over world ( including the ones who can’t afford tickets to a game and follow Chelsea by TV and wear fake jerseys ).
Maybe the recession maybe a blessing in disguise with a change in RA’s mentality with the structure that is in place( thanks for that RA), an inspirational and JM-like manager with a mix of young and upcoming talent and older experience ones , maybe the prizes to be got may be only 2-3 years away.
In the meantime we await your ( RA’s ) actions.
BC haha, you sneaky fella’, gave me a shocker =|…. Im sure we wont lose this one, Im hoping we dont, 0-3 is too much to digest i think, we will/should come out all guns blazing and try and out-do southend in every possible aspect.
Dnt worry guys it’s just southend. We’ll win today, that will be a reaction. I am more concerned about our next premiership games.Reactions can only carry you so far. In any case, I am beginning to hope Scolari is half as honourable as Roy Keane. He jus needs to accept he’s not good enough and then step own. This saves everybody- Roman, the board, Scolari, the players and the fans- unnecessary blushes.
Having said these, Scolari is not going to improve a thing. He just doesnt know how, if he did, he would have done smething but now the rothas set in.
@BC
I hope you have to write your post-match review again.
Thanks for scaring the living hell out of me, BC… I hope we start the turn-around today, my friend!!

I loved that post man.. that one really hit home, especially the part about: “including the ones who can’t afford tickets to a game and follow Chelsea by TV and wear fake jerseys” I have a fake jersey and a real one, I used to play football in the fake one and kiss my badge beat my chest and pretend as if im a chelsea start every time i scored a goal!!! (that was a great feeling) the guys even started to and DD (short for Didier Drogba). But now im injuried (ACL damage) and cant play for the moment…… I will be doing my operation this year though!! And I wear the real one when i watch matchs…to school, and to work!!!
Its very deficult to wear it after that defeat to manure… because Jamaica has more Manur fans …… so ill get boo off the streets
but like when we used to play good (CL finals for example) I would wear it with out fear.. even after the CL final defeat. But this defeat is worst than in May…… its humiliating !!!
Oh by the way I follow also Chelsea by this blog.. sharing comments with yous everyday!!!
MY BLOOD IS BLUE!!!
I Know we all have been bashing Scolari as of late (I personally more than anyone else) but having read a few articles and watching his interview I agree on one thing he said. He’s not to be blamed alone and he’s right, it does take a team effort to grind out results and win games. Certain individuals have been working really hard but sadly most players are slacking and this is evident in the results we have been getting as of late. Drogba or FROGBA more like it as he can’t stop with his annoying whining and crying all the timehas been toothless in attack cant hit a ball on target at the great wall of china if his life depended on it. I know most of us were relishing on the fact as to when Drogba will return to action, but from what im seeing he is simply pathetic as of late. No will to play, no contribution, no determination, no nothing, atleast Anelka has been scoring in his absense but now it seems even Anelka has lost his touch since his return. Di santo is promising and has been gettin better with what little time he is getting on the pitch, with regular expereince I think he can become really impressive and score on a regular basis. That’s our attack covered and judging from our performances as of late I think this is our weakest area on the pitch.
I dont think anyone can argue that Lamps + Mikel have been outstanding this season, although Mikel has made a few defensive errors but then again the boy is only 21 and he’s getting more expereince and in the coming years he will be a force to be reckoned with. Deco and Ballack, well I don’t kno what to say and where to begin, Deco has fallen faster then Wallstreet share market and Ballack has never been the same since Euro 2008. At the end of last season the form Ballack had hit was impressive to say the least and if him and Deco were playing on the same level as they had started and ended the season then we would of had one of the strongest midfeild in EPL. Now let’s talk about Malouda, as far as ive seen him play this season, I can say ive seen glimpses as to why he was named French player of the year at one point in his carrer, he has scored a few goals and has assisted very well. But unfortunetly he isn’t doing enough to convinve anyone why he should be playing in a chelsea jersey. J.Cole is not the same player anymore aswell, his form is just bloody inconsistent and I don’t think he will be gettin back to his glory days anytime soon so as far as im concerned that’s another chelsea player in the red zone. Kalou on the other hand has been improving slightly, not many players out there can play as a striker and a winger at the same time so with that in mind if we do play him in his normal position maybe he can improve. Essien has been badly missed in his absense, I dont think anything needs to be said about how good he can be the nickname Bison says it all. That’s our midfeild covered and besides Lampard and Mikel I dont think anyone is cutting it even clost for being a chelsea player.
Let’s look at our defense, once considered the strongest in europe but these days can’t even stop burnley or southend to get the best of them. Bosingwa started out impressive but just like Deco he seems to have lost the plot, he makes too many judgemental errors these days and personally thinks he’s a great dribbler and tries to get past 2/3 players with horrendus results most of the time. Ashley Cole is not the same player anymore, he started out so well wen he joined chelsea but even his form as of late is dipping, taking shots on goal with absolute no precision and vision, simply wasting oppurtunities and blastin balls mile high. JT + RC were considered by many as the strongest partnership in the EPL and one of the most effective, but as of late even they are not performing to the high levels they have set themselves. Belletti, Ferreira, Alex and Ivanovic cant really be judged as subsitutes. Cech well I cant say anything bad about him at the time being because it’s upto our defense line to stop opposition teams from taking a shot at goal every 2 mins and that is exactly what was happening in the 2nd half at old trafford so with that in mind I think their is only so much Cech can do to save a flood of goals being blasted in. That basically covers our whole team and if I was to rate them, I would say they are performing on 4/10 level. I agree with Scolari that he’s not to blame for everything it takes a team effort to win and matches are not won with one man alone it takes a team of winners to pull themselves together and make themselves count on the pitch.
Quoting Jaz
That’s where I differ. See, when you manage a team, you’re responsible for the individual as well as collective performance. If someone’s not doing well, it’s your responsibility as a manage to take a course of action. It can be motivating that person or show patience for him to improve or replace him or remove him. Irrespective of how the individuals work, the manager’s responsibility is to get the job done and that’s why he is being paid. If all the players play to their potential, if the captain does a good job in leading the team, what would the manager do then? If one or two players are doing well, it could be their problem. If so many players are playing well, especially the most trusted names are not doing well, and that too consistently, I would not have to look beyond the manager.
Remember, our team WAS a fantastic team – full of spirit, camaraderie and quality. We came so close to the honours last season. Even the early part of this season we were doing very well. How can the players become so bad suddenly? Think about it.
I get what you mean BC and I respect your opinion, but at the same time we all know the expressionless face of AG and we know that he had lost the dressing room completely last season but still we managed to reach three finals. I know most of us think that was due to Steve Clarke but I beleive it was mainly due to our team standing on their own two feet and not accepting defeat and showing character and strengh in numbers. Scolari has 25 years of managerial expereince behind him, although I do agree he didnt know what he was getting into when he signed up to be a chelsea manager but still if he cant get the job done right then why are our players being soo lazy and demotivated aswell ?? Why cant they repeat the heroics of last season and take all competitions seriously. If the manager is unable to do the job then to some extent the players have to stand up for their team and unite together (this is where JT + Lamps come in) but this season that hasn’t happened so one can argue that if the manager is bad then the actual team is even worse at this stage.
guys remember this guy Giovani Dos Santos!! why dont we get him… he is cheap!!!
hmmmn, it makes you think though
blue devil don’t be too harsh
every national team has a shortage of something
england is short on lefties
brazil is short of defensive players
portugal is short of strikers
just to point out the obvious

Just a quick note: I have heard a press conference and it is sometimes much better to try to understand Scolari than to read what journalists were able to make out of his comments. As I understood his English, he told exactly that “for Southend it is match of the season” and “for us it has to be the same”. OK, it could be like Scolari sees the Southend game as match of the season – but I think he simply wanted to say we cannot lack behind in terms of commitment, concentration and mentality as a whole, or we cannot win, although our team is quite better technically, etc. But definitely he did not mean that there is no more important game than the Southend one.
Just listen: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/7827294.stm
Jaz – Form and morale do not stay at the same level forever. They do go up and down, high and low. I won’t blame our players because I have seen them fight on the pitch like they are on war. I’ve seen them give their all. I’ve seen them play with their heart like no other teams’ players did. They have given me so much pleasure when they were at their best.
I can’t believe that they are now playing so poorly. It is not their natural behaviour or normal self. They have always been different. They have played well so well all along. And they are down, in terms of form and morale, I would certainly expect the manager to inspire them and motivate them.
Quoting vovka
Okay, okay. The performance tonight will speak a thousand words and that’s matters than what Scolari said or how it was misinterpreted. Let the performance speak rather than Scolari
Wakeup guys – it is not Scolary, not the motivation, not the moral -not even a combination of these — IT IS POOR PLAYERS ,LACKING TECHNICAL SKILL ,THAT ARE OVER THEIR TOP and they will keep on going down the hill. NO RETURN.
Sometime before the season started I made a prediction (in this blog) that CFC will not finish in the top 4 this season.I am still standing behind my words.
Players which their strength is only fitness and high motivation without technical skill can’t maintain their form for more than 4/5 years and that is a lot.
We are left with big names, big history but no ability anymore.
Its time Scolari start the building of a new team -younger players ,technically capable and the kind which can fit his style.
NO MANAGER CAN CHANGE IT !
In this respect AG was lucky since he had this team just after the turning point . Scolary’s team is at the steep slop downward.
Quoting Jerry_BM
Strange comment. In fact, it is rather funny. How do you say Chelsea lack technical skills? When you say lacking technical skills, can you name the player who you refer to? All our players are highly technical players. Without real technical ability, a team cannot end the premier league and champions league as runner-up.
BC, looks like your voodoo fix may have worked… the wrong way! You wrote a post about a match that’s going to be postponed!!!
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,13864_4794530,00.html
LOL . . The referee has first said that the game is off due to excessive fog. Now that the fog has cleared, he’s declared that it’s back on!
Thanks, BC! I was a bit upset… I’m home from work and I plan to watch the match. Go Blues!
WTF BC, U Almost KILLED ME DUDE, I came here to see if had some news about the postponed match an BAM!!! almost had a heart attack LOL, BEST PRANK EVER. I hope the fog was there to clear the players MIND, and Scolari 2. SENDING THE GOOD VIBES

LOL Lissette! Come over to BC Shout for the live-match chat!
We’re 1-0 down. Conceded from a corner. Again
wow 1 nil . perfect. that’s the he talk about.
wow 1 nil . perfect. that’s the improvement he talkin about.
zone marking or not, Alex needs his butt kicked for his lazy defending that allowed the goal.
Ballack was at the right place at the right time and made the most of it.
this half should have been better. but, Southend is playing with some courage.
I’m thinking 2-1 or 3-1 Chelsea.
the solution to our problems is Drogba. Kick him out and everything will sort out. Its got nothing to do with Scolari. His credentials are proof to his ability. We have got some players who are lazy, I just hope Scolari starts some youngsters.
ok we are 2-1, kalou scores.
This should be over. Kalou and Anelka did well for us. Too bad for Joey. He was doing pretty good today.
This may not go down as one of the most famous 4-1 victories in Chelsea history. But, right now, heck I’ll take the win as a step in the right direction. Let’s take it for what it’s worth and hope for the best this weekend.
