Man Utd 3-0 Chelsea | Scolari must be counting his days . . .

Felt like a 900-minute match. I don’t remember when Chelsea was last humiliated like this before. When was the last time we lost by a three-goal margin to a rival? This has to be the biggest Chelsea defeat of recent times. We did not deserve a point, leave alone a win. There was no desire, no hunger, no determination and no feeling of guilt. We produced nothing. We made the same defensive errors. We did not even trouble van der Sar. Did he even touch the ball? Scolari’s job is not at all safe. I’m sorry. I have no sympathy for Scolari. With what we have seen so far, he has failed and refuses to learn from his failures.

Surely this result does not have anything to do with Robinho not joining us. It does not have to do with one Essien missing in our team. It does not have to do with players being in their late 20s and early 30s. It does not have to do with us not having any dribbling playmakers. So, the fact is Scolari has run out of excuses and this defeat is so bad that he simply can’t make any excuses. Like many times under his regime, we failed to create one decent chance in a match of 90 minutes. And we managed to concede three goals while we had Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Ashley Cole, Bosingwa and Mikel. Can there be any excuses?

Yes, Drogba was useless today. He must not have played 90 minutes and still he was persisted. Anelka came in but did not play as a striker. Joe Cole must have been gone with Drogba by half time. Kalou should have come on instead of Belletti. Our 4-1-4-1 was found out months back by all our rivals and opponents. Fergie must have been happy to know that Drogba and Anelka were not starting in a 4-4-2. He must have even jumped for joy that we are playing our 4-1-4-1. I thought Scolari is a poor tactician but I must say he is a disaster, tactically. Man Utd had Evans, Neville, Fletcher, Park and Giggs; and we lost to them 3-0? Fergie didn’t even have to use Tevez! And we played one of our strongest team with Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Ashley Cole, Bosingwa, Mikel, Lampard, Ballack, Deco, Joe Cole and Drogba!

I think this is one of the worst Chelsea performances and defeats in Roman’s era. The scoreline is very humiliating. The performance was even more humiliating. Like the club website says, we let three goals in three crosses, two of them from set pieces. In fact, Man Utd had a legitimate goal from a corner ruled out. Our set piece defending is still awful. I wonder why we don’t learn from those obvious mistakes. I can’t believe that our defence consisting of Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Bosingwa, Ashley Cole and Mikel can be so poor? They can’t be. Not all of them and not so often. Something is fundamentally wrong. Very wrong.

We did not have one decent chance on goal. I can’t even count us unlucky or anything. While players like Drogba and Joe Cole were terrible, I have to say we created nothing. There was simply no supply at all. To be exact, there was ONE shot on goal and even that one was a pop. Such is our state, when Man Utd went up, I was sure that we’re going to be defeated. I was hoping that I would be proved wrong but not to be. After Man Utd scored their second goal, the game was over even though 30 minutes were still to be played. There was no Chelsea onslaught. Chelsea did not feel insulted or humiliated. There was still no urgency and desparation. Instead, what we saw was just dropped shoulders and unhurt egos.

Scolari admitted that this defeat has done a huge damage to our confidence:

I think it’s done big damage, very big damage [to our confidence] because we didn’t come here to play for this situation. We were thinking about winning the game but now we need to think about the result and what has happened with some of our players and some of our defending at set-plays. We definitely need to change something in the future.

If he talks about some of our players and some of our defending, then he’s talking about most of our team. There are too many things going wrong in some alarming frequency. Has he lost the dressing room? The next few days could be very revealing. Finally, he admits that he needs to change something. I wonder what he has in his mind when he talk about ‘change’?

I think we lost our confidence when we lost against Liverpool and we have gone downhill since then. This match, this result and this admission from Scolari is a milestone in his short Chelsea career. I’m almost certain that Scolari would never resolve our problem. That’s because he himself has been our problem or at least the root cause of most of our problems. It is primarily his job to bring the best out of his players, make them play to their potential, keep their feet on the ground and keep them motivated and inspired. If he doesn’t these things well, he would be our problem.

Yesterday, I was watching the season review DVD of the season 05-06. That was the second title-winning season under Jose Mourinho. That was a different Chelsea. We struck fear in all our rivals. We were ruthless, determined and we would kill to win. We would not concede that easil and if we did, we would come back like wounded animals. About one-third of our goals were from set pieces. I don’t remember conceding any from a set piece. We had organisation, discipline, team work. And we had Jose Mourinho. That’s a distant past. In another week or so, we could be in the third place and fighting with Aston Villa for the third place. With another 17 matches to go, that’s no situation to be doom and gloom. But as I have mentioned before, I don’t see any promise with Scolari. He has not improved us in any aspect. Under him, Chelsea has become weaker, undoubtedly. I don’t think you’d ask for a proof anymore. We have Southend United on Wednesday. Should I be worried about that match? How lower should my expectations be?

Thank you luis felipe scolari , you have screwed chelsea
in the last four year, never have a team lost by a worst margin that you have in the one single season. You have brought disharmony to the team , lost our home record , sold player and brought some useless brazilians.

and this 6 MM pound useless fellow doesn’t even know who is injured in the team as well .

When we had JM, we were strong at home and away
When we had AG, we were strong at home and ok away
With LFS, we have lost both home and away advantage ..

I am logging out ..

2. - 11th Jan

Well i just don’t understand how we couldn’t score one goal, what is going on with Chelsea, they really need to fix up and sort themselves out.
I think we have no chance of coming top now with this poor performance,
may be we might stand a chance in the Fa Cup/Champions league if they don’t go messing that up.

3. - 11th Jan

If I am roman, I would sell

Terry to Man City – 20 or 30 million we can pocket
drogba – any takers to what ever we get
ballack
Kaluo – some dutch club

Pocket the money as their stock value is falling faster than NASDAQ.

4. - 11th Jan

God dammit 3-0, that has to be the worst result we have picked in years, man this is jus pathetic. I don’t think even Man Utd must of thought that they are going to walk away with a one sided landslide of a result like that. 3-0 for fuk sake 3-0, great start to the year!! What hits like a ton of bricks is that if we feel like this then imagine the pain the chelsea players must be goin threw atm and this is only going to shake their confidense further. CFC your sayin exactly what is on my mind, home form destroyed, away form destroyed, what’s left for the competitors to fear now?? This result means we will most definetly go 3rd in the table, Villa only a point behind us, utd will top the table by winning their 2 games in hand and are 5 points ahead of us, liverpool 4 points ahead of us, so which eva way u look it atm under mr.brazilian were in hot water. Im jus thinking what the hell is next in store for us, southend knockin us out of the FA cup would be the icing on the cake i guess now. This is jus heart-breaking man, this is not our chelsea, this is not what we stand for, and all this in front on JM aswell.

Darkest Day in Chelsea FCs recent history…never before have i ever been so embarrassed to see my team play (if that even counts as playing). We were owned in every department by a Man Utd side that was hungry for a goal and a win. If the team thinks their in the same league as Man Utd, theyve gotta be kidding themselves, I’d say snap out of the dream, and come live reality…we’re playing like a mid-table team, Aston Villa, hell even Hull City are superior to us with respect to hunger and game play.

Tell me, how many times have you seen a Chelsea team not attempt to shoot at All ?! If Mourinho was removed for This kind of ”beautiful football” then I’m sorry, but our thought process is seriously messed up. Even Derby County outplayed Man Utd (albeit a weakened one) but hey this one wasnt the strongest either.

A Dark, Dark day it is. Scolari, get prepared for a trophyless season and a one-way ticket to Brazil by May.

10. - 11th Jan

We didnt deserved anything from this game.how can u score a goal without creating a single chance.where as united has got chance after chance after chance…..there was no time to show the replay of uniteds chances.there is another one.
Fergie come in and supported SCOLARI ,he wont get any easier Chelsea team to beat than that of SCOLARIs .
Jose would have smiled inside after he seen the game.

whr is the desire hunger the passion in players… our players

Roman Do Somethin Fast

14. - 11th Jan

Now this is looking comic, but we canno tdo anything till the end of the season. Expect bigger surprises next season. We may get a new owner as well.

15. - 11th Jan

We didn’t deserve to win this match as we are playing very poor..Look at Mr. Drogba, he just missed lots of opportunities to score goals and his clumsiness in handling the ball. What a shame that LFS did not retreat him off the pitch..Overall what i can say, Chelsea is in need of a new manager…It seems like LFS tactics is not working out in EPL for some reasons..This is what we need to criticize of,the pace of the game is not on track of what a top flight teams should be.We have been deteriorated days by days. This is the sign of new manager should be introduced. Since there is still 15 days before the the transfer window closed. FORMER BARCA MANAGER will be a great signings for Chelsea FC…
C’mon Roman, do something!!!!!

16. - 11th Jan

Deco, Drogba, Scolari, Ballack must go.As simple as that mates…

17. - 11th Jan

big reshuffling will happen this summer after a season this is setting up to be.
hugely devastating lose to have to watch cause the boys had a decent first half and just imploded in the second!
really hard to stomach to be quite honest, with my pride all shot to hell and all, but big things will happen this summer!
very big things. and Drogba gave the ball away almost every time this morning.
I couldn’t count one good pass play in succession from him! and the rest of the team weren’t any better in the second half to be honest as NO chances were generated?
that to me is just absurd!

No new manager this season though! It’s the mans first flight in Europe and if we are to make a change (which I’m hoping we don’t as we don’t need yet another coach with a 2 years span!) it should be done in the off season!

18. - 11th Jan

Franco di santo was marking berbatov for the third goal – It tells the knowledge about Scolari .

How did he win the world up . May be there was no other super power playing that year. Holland did not travel and unlucky Italy lost to controversial South Korea goal..

First this guy should be kicked out.. with nothing much to play in EPL, I would we can promote our youth or reseve coach till summer and wait to see if JM is available. If inter doesn’t go past Man U , then most likely there is a possibility.

19. - 11th Jan

Players that need to be let go for fresh blood…
1) Drogba
2) Ballack
3) Malouda (unfortunately)
4) Ferreira (should have gone a long time ago)
5) Deco (simply too old and looks to not care about what kind of performances he puts in)
6) Mineiro
7) Alex (we don’t need any unhappy players here)

I’d love to see some of the promising youth integrated into the first team full fold next season so they can start to come of age. And as far as our new purchases, they need to be youthful and have promise for low current buy and high progression/ sale value! No more of these 30 year olds who lack commitment to a cause because they are too old to either care or have no ambitions aside from a sturdy pay check.

I said it was needed from this summer and we waited a little too late! We can still keep the decent core we have and let go of those players that are on the fringe with some new promising talent as well as some youthful experience! We need to revert back to our wingers and we dearly need an attacking outlet that is actually potent!

20. - 11th Jan

@18…

I’m sure Scolari did not tell Di Santo to go and mark Berbatov so just stop throwing mud where it doesn’t belong because we are all frustrated at the lose! It was an in the moment marking match up as the game was practically over. What did us in was the fact that we were lazy in the second half and outworked by the likes of fringe players like Park Ji Sung! Ryan Giggs did major damage as well!

21. - 11th Jan

@20 – did you talk to Franco to confirm this.

22. - 11th Jan

Quoting joseisgreat

Stupid fool . We lost confidence when we lost the home record. Idiot told we know how to mark ronaldo .. Avram grant knew that better.

26. - 11th Jan

Today was a good day………….for man u.

The turning point in the game was VIDIC goal, I hate him cause he is good defender and I hate to se specially him score agains us. WHY THE **** Aint for example AJole not positioning himself near the farpost. and the worst thing about the first goal was, they had warned us with their first quick-try. so we should have been on our toas. And Peter Cech.. damn thats stuff he should handle. I know it was a good header by vidic but cech is not bein superb the way he used to be. that really killed our spirit and lived up man us spirit. I was scared that if he didnt score quickly in the second it would be a long long day. second half.. forget about it..we were running around like headless chickens.
drog I been backing him up and defending him fo so far but today he was shit. everybody was shit beside Mikel. he did standout.

and we just made tso immortal now. I hate that shit. WTF was coach doing after they scored the second goal??????????????????????? why even bother put in da santos when it was like 6-7 min left? to do what? if your down and ur losing the only thing than can happen by making changes is u give ur side a chance to get back into the game if not atleast u tried cause u were already losing so it wont matter. but to be honest I wasnt surprised of coachs action or should I said non-action. seen it before.

I have this empty feeling that I really hate. am not even mad its beyond. its easier if you bast ur ass and really put up a fight and lose or if you have a bad day but this was just freakin embarrasing ppl.
its easy to point out heads and blame specific players but the bottom line is we arent playing in a system we feel comfortable in and we dont have any good team defence anymore (which i cant understand how that can just vanish from the surface of earth like that). We need to play teamball. we seem to be tacticly retardad. specially when we get behind. its like we are clueless out there. every time we had the ball on their halfs we didnt know what to do wit it or whom to give it to.

Today we got a reality check. this is our reality. this wat we have been afraid would when we were playing the smaller teams.
I been saying this all along..the team that is ahead of man u after the last game will win the league. Man u is the team to beat.

I want the old stubborn fart to realize that he cant really go on doing what he is. and if he dont stop this downfall pretty soon he will be on someones hitlist!!!

stay easy ppl

27. - 11th Jan

I think this season is finished for us!!!

28. - 11th Jan

one more thing..excuse ma spelling ppl. I cant do anything right now I betta stop writing here

29. - 11th Jan

its the response after the goal which irked me the most….even with a man down last year we tried to attack late on last year..n the year b4 that..the second half kinda symbolized chelsea..bt this time…**** ing idiots didnt wanna run around..drogba was useless…so was anelka..mikel played well but was at fault for the first goal…but lets still be optimistic..we r better off at this time than we were last year..so maybe we can make a comeback..we need some luck and loads more chelsea heart n courage…n hell..we need ESSSSSSIEN!!!!!!!KTBFFH!!!

30. - 11th Jan

Drogba, Malouda, Fereira, mineiro, Ballack, Deco, Alex out we need a refrsh right now we must give some more time to Di Sancto, Sinclair and of course we must sign some young players tha will really help the team to play better football. Look Scolari is not a bad coach but we need the right players like he has in Brazil and in Portugal if we can’t give them it doesn’t worth to stay in London…

31. - 11th Jan

I fail to understand the attitude of our coach . When we lead 3-0 , we don’t play Franco or Sinclair. Today when we were down 2-0, should we have given a chance to Salomon , who scored the equalizer at bridge . At least he has scored more than Franco for the moment..

I fail to understand .. even one consolation goal would have been respectable.. richardo and terry were very bad.. they have not played often this season, so I hope they might improve.. rooney should have got an yellow . I have to admit Rafa bring a valid point..

Is this the end of the season – EPL, yes because I don’t know how we will overcome a 5 point deficit, because our record in top 4 teams is 3 loses and one draw and the next two away games are not any easier – liverpool and villa..

FA cup – you never know . even if we win southend, our next opposition is also a championship side, once we reach semis may liverpool or man u might play a full strength side because they might be fighting for cl and epl.

CL – it all depends on luck , if we go past Juventus, and if we get to play home games in second leg – may be , but this year it is really tough teams..

Were do we go from here – depending on the outcomes of the next few EPL games, may be we start playing Scoot Sinclair on wings and Franco and Anelka upfront to see what we need to buy in Summer.. drogba is abusing chelsea too much ..

32. - 11th Jan

Dont know about EPL as theres still a long way to go, but after seeing such poor comitment to the game from some players I would put 2 or 3 youngsters rotating in team ASAP.At least they know they have something to prove and are willing to give their best.
Even Anelka was puting some pressure to recover the ball, something I didnt see from Drogba or Balack,I mean: even Deco in the first half was constantly trying to put pressure on MU half to recover the ball.

Droga didnt even tried to get one shot right, you clearly see his body movements that he doesnt even prepares the (few) shots he takes. Its just like hes there because he doesnt know “how can I get out of this?”.And the passes? How many turn overs on his clumsy passes?Would love to see some player statistics on this game…

33. - 11th Jan

And DiSanto for JCole?Im hoping Scolari doesnt pushes JCole trought the door…

34. - 11th Jan

Oh,and someone plz tell Drogba that respect, love and understanding is a 2 way street and the few fans like me are stoping making excuses for his lack of comitment.

Sry if I seem grumpy but Chelsea is giving me the Blues :(

35. - 11th Jan

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/7808369.stm ( way down , you can listen to video of Luis Scolari ) .

36. - 11th Jan

Oh no this is the worst thing, I’ve everseeen.I know how angry everyone is.Damn you Scolari, even I a fifteen year old can even field in a better team than you did and even better strategies.Even at my age, I always correct my mistakes.Same goal four times.Damn it, the whole chelsea team is fucked up. Scolari’s appointment was a big mistake Roman. Even Arsenal would have done better.Even with their youthful and less experienced squad they were able to beat Manutd.Oh man why is this happening. The shortest writing by BC I’ve ever seen.
Man, certain things need to be done.
1. Axe Scolari if possible(Appoint someone who has league experience and can make better team.
2.Damn double axe Deco(shit brazilian) he is killing the team(Even Rijkaard said he was the one who fuked up his team and sold him)
3.Let some players go and bring in some:
Mineiro(Shit Brazilian never added anything to the team(even Appiah would have done great than Deco and Mineiro)
Ferreira(must go long time)
Why did he sell bridge if he knew he had no left footed midfielder.Damn you Scolari.
Drogba(I thought he would come off good after sometime but everyone sees he does not care.Maybe because Mourinho was around his damn mind was telling him its Inter INter.Shit Drogba leave goooooo far from chelsea you are a nightmare.
Alex, if he wants to go let him go .We want some cash Scolari.
John terry my number one captain now looks like he’s aging and has lost the vigor he had in him(Replace him with Mancienne the guy is hungry to progress these are the players we need people who are determined to make it)
Bosingwa:Saw him as a revelation to the team but now hell no he doesn’t bother anymore.Even Rafael knows how to back track when he loses the ball he’s also a RWB but knows he has to come back to protect the team better change bosingwa.
Ballack has to go he’s damn old about 34 this guy is only interested in the cash, he’s lost his uniqueness and is now shit since he’s damn aging.
Even a 40+ Anelka has even gone serious about things.
Malouda has got to go(We can’t keep injured players but must get a replacement because he’s somewhat good)
Joe Cole oh I’m dissapointed in you, used to be one of my favourite.Bad times boy.
Cech needs to go on Rehab to get his superb reflexes back after his injury it looks like he’s somewhat of his IQ.Gotta get serious boy at least try.

37. - 11th Jan

I believe we all have shown the better side of our faith in our team. Chelsea fc will forever remain, what about you/us? we all have failed. We all have lived in the glory. lets face this reality. Scolari, was highly praised wen he was hired; now you want him fired. what a rhyme! Deco, Ballack, Drogba, name them. I am not writing as you all did, but i will give scolari till the end of the season. i don’t care what we all have in mind, but lets be logical. Every team wants a pound off chelsea. Every player needs a better pay check playing Chelsea. Every fan, needs a comment like we all have done. What do the players need? You and I.

This may sound dumb, but the season is almost over. Kudos to all that have contributed to the failure and success of the blue champions. we remain champions, because the records will forever hold that.

38. - 11th Jan

I blame Steve Clarke myself, running out on us a couple of weeks into a new season to go to West Ham, of all places, instead of sticking around to provide some sort of continuation, and link for the players, and Scolari. He was the reason Avram Grant did as well as he did last season. Get rid of Ray Wilkins and get Scolari someone who can really help him to boost the players morale, and confidence. Even Terry has lost his passion, and belef in the club.

39. - 11th Jan

Sinclair is my number one player for the wings, bring him on despite his age or inexperience teach him the basics and let him add some asset to his dribbling and pace. 4-1-4-1 is bad no width and heavy in the midfield stupid formation even in game i wouldn’t even play this formation.
Give Sinclair and Stoch the wings and I know something would happen for chelsea.
If Arsenal had Sinclair in their team.I reckon Wenger would place him and Theo on the wings and he definitely expects something great from them.Since Robben we aint got any good winger fix sinclair into the left and he would be excellent.I have faith in him.

40. - 11th Jan

Horrible…..Horrendus….Pathetic…..Useless…….Down right Infuriating….saddening performance from chelsea……………..Absolutely shocking display from once the strongest club in europe (it seems so freakin loong ago)……This i cant beleive is happening ………..

44. - 11th Jan

you know thats the fcuked up ting about it!!! not one fcuking chance!!! NOT ONE!!! SCOLARI SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF….. AND JUST QUIET!! he cant do the business

45. - 11th Jan

Bring on rijkard and Hen Ten Cate together and our style will be improve.Chelsea need a great clear out and a revolution .Chelsea need to get younger.

46. - 11th Jan

@45 – Hen Ten cate will not come back . That was the only change we needed in summer . replace grant with Rijkaard.

Rijkaard, ten cate & steve clarke .

Will the board back Scolari? Is he the right man? Is it too early to get rid of him? We have lost against all the ‘top four`, does he have the tactical know how?
Giggs is 35 and runs harder than J. cole, Deco, malouda….. what the fuck is going one. i feel so bad…….. it really hurts!!! gutted!

If giggs doesn’t run, Sir Alex will kick him out .. btw, I think the score was 5-0, two goals disallowed for ronaldo , which were legitimate.. Ref saved from humilation.

big reshuffling will happen this summer after a season this is setting up to be.
hugely devastating lose to have to watch cause the boys had a decent first half and just imploded in the second!
really hard to stomach to be quite honest, with my pride all shot to hell and all, but big things will happen this summer!
very big things. and Drogba gave the ball away almost every time this morning.

Quoting Vinton Lindo

@18…

Ryan Giggs did major damage as well!

there is one simple solution, SACK SCOLARI AND GET A DECENT MANAGER, and you´ll start loving the hardworking guys you mentioned to leave again!!! Earlier players used to wait years to get into first team, now they all wanna leave. Who´s fault is it?

I have lurked on this site for a long time. This is my first comment. I understand the frustration. I agonize with you. On the other hand, let me say this and I hope I speak for all of us. I am not excusing what happened today. I am gutted, but these are the days when I love my club the most. These are the days when my Chelsea blood is the bluest. These are the days when nobody else gives a damn about us. These are the days when all we have is ourselves. These are the days when we are truly “Care free” and “we don’t give a damn whoever you may be cause we are the famous CFC! I’d rather be wearing a blue shirt, following our side in the Blue Square Premier, than spend one second in any other shirt of a side that is “top of the league and having a laugh.” So, as any good Chelsea fan, I say down with Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham, Manure, and…..the Doleboys! Keep the Blue Flag Flyin High! Chelsea!…Chelsea!…Chelsea!…..’till the day I die! Here’s a link to one of the greatest sounds in the world. i actually released tears today
if we placed a marker where each shot that scored was taken, im certain they would be more or less in the same place,
we fielded the formation exactly how expected, scolari surprised me by taking deco off at half time, i would have subbed ballack for belletti as he just wasn’t cutting it today. Ferguson always surprises me, fletcher? park? giggs? fair play to ryan, he had a good game, well, it played to his advantage
the first goal conceeded, at first i thought you had to wait for the whistle before corners, but now I see that it was a legitimate goal, i watched the game on sky, two players saw rooney drag it out of the corner reservation, one moved, but quickly stopped, why?! in all fairness, a very clever goal had it not been ruled out. And rightly said (cant remember who) but that should have woken us up, and it didnt’t. Now funadmentally in most sports, always watch the ball and your man, were terry and ballack doing that? no. I know it isnt always easy, but at this level of football, no excuse. ballack dropped off evans, realised his mistake but by that time, terry had taken his eye of vidic in an attempt to reposition and that gave vidic the space he needed. United sat back more than usual, they usually go all out for the first 20 minutes and then sit back, but not today. Avery sparse attack, it made me laugh the amount of times I saw them breaking with berbatov jogging and finally walking. I said this match would depend on cole and rooney, ronaldo was neutered as usual, all the energy came from joey and shrek. Rooney got very malicious and although the ref is very poor, I fail to see how he stayed on after that swipe on the left wing at bosingwa when the ball was already out of play, in front of webb? poor.
We did very well at holding possession around the box as we do, but for some reason, today, no crosses, we concentrated on outpacing vidic and evans which is a game i dont like. Our final ball, very poor, the best pass i saw was bosingwas mid cross that didn’t quite reach an unmarked ballack. Second half I expected us to come out and score early, expected anelka to start at the half but was shocked deco came off? knock? cover story. The problem I noticed in the first half, is Drogba was lazy, he refused to muscle over vidic and evans, nor neville so the gaps for lampard and ballack were not opening. He had to keep tracking back to recieve the ball and even when anelka came on, they were still recieving mid way between the half way and penalty box. We should have kept the penetration game going, and changed drogba for anelka as we weren’t playing much of an aerial game. The only players I can say made real effort today, were terry, cech and mikel. You can blame cech for some goals, and he did make a fumble but to even get a hand to vidic’s header demands respect, maybe in form he would of kept it out, but we shouldn’t demand that from him. We demand the power on our set pieces
Next thing to slate, ricardo carvahlo. Chelsea epitomises class, greatness. When you grab a players shirt, especially a fellow international, it is disgusting and even worse when you argue with the ref and call him a diver. Ricky C had a horrid performance today, another example of why I prefer Alex. In the build up to Berbatov’s goal, why is an inexperienced di santo left to mark berbatov? carvahlo should have been with him, I don’t care about height, Di santo does not have epl instinct, you cant expect more of him, terry could have done more to stop berbatov but it was smart play form vidic.
Ashley ashley ashley, really should of at least got an on target shot earlier but doddled as did everyone else in the box. With rooney’s goal, why was ashley’s foot not meeting it? why was rooney able to toe poke it through his legs? It seemed today there was no desperation, no urgency from the majority of the team With all our long range shooters, why did i not see many?
mikel did make some serious blunders, but he kept working, and when we went 2-0 down, he showed urgency to try and push the ball up the field and open up space for drogba, this season will be a learning curve for him.
I question the belletti for bosingwa move. Was scolari praying for a long range strike? Bosingwa and belletti are similar in the idea of not tracking back so why bother give us the problem we had last season? Bosingwa was directly responsible for rooney’s goal, surely he should have tracked back as he saw the ball rolling, challenged evra? nope, didnt bother, just like every goal we conceed
We needed joey to take the ball past players, attract markers, but with all the one on ones he got, he simply didnt, he let me down especially as rooney wasn’t much better.
it seems to me, scolari has put emphasis on the passing game but cant pressure our team to do what they used to.
So whats going on? surely kalou could have been brought on, why bring on franco for 8 minutes? why not kalou at 60 or 70? why leave ballack on the pitch? why leave drogba on the pitch
what has become apparrent, is many players don’t love chelsea
some respect it as a newly established superpower, some have come here to become great players and make a name for themselves (drogba) some came here to follow their friends (ferreira, deco) and others are here as a last ditch effort to win something (ballack)
our players simply aren’t doing what is standard anymore.
I don’t care about titles so much now, I’d much rather see our team playing well and losing from poor refereeing than see them consistantly play like they just got out of bed.
belletti needs to go, he was bought as a temporary hold because we could not get daniel alves who is doing just fine at barca, ferreira could not adapt to play the way we need him to, and bosingwa is tempermental, adding dimension as well as taking it away. sell belletti and ferreira, bring in someone who is hungry for the position, mancienne? cork?
i am not a big carvahlo fan, he does make terry look alot more comfortbale, but id be much happier watching him with alex who wants to start, so let him, carvahlo is 31 i believe, alex is 26/7, let it happen, plenty of years together
it is apparent bosingwa is having positive impacts on ashley, but his roaming is pushing joey more infield where he won’t dribble which loses space, and his refusal to track back is costing us
ballack is winding down, today, he seemed to have the right idea, but his body quite simply couldn’t do what we required of it, so some young central midfielders need to start making a name for themselves, i think michael johnson could do very well here, im not sure how lee sawyer or michael woods are getting along these days
left wing position, sell malouda. I am very favourable of messi, and podolski, but failing that for whatever reason, we have sinclair stoch and tejera so why dont we try it
di santo can develop into an all round striker, drogba and anelka are not what we need, i dont care if anelka is the top scorer, does he really do us favours right now? i do not think so. Drogba is not hungry, he said himself he has no passion, that is not a chelsea player, he is there for his paycheque, so lets give him that private jet again and send him back to france, i defend him no longer
integrating our youth players seems like the thing to do, it could solve our shortages, without having to splash out on big names ie podolski :(

let today be a wake up call, we are mortal, we do not accept this feeling, i never, ever want to see a day like this again
Man utd were not brilliant, they were very wasteful like us, they played a very paced game and scored all their goals from all the same places

58. - 11th Jan

still recovering from the bomb shell that scolari dropped three days ago – not knowing the player who is injured in his team that I am bombarded by another result.. Should stop watching the game for sometime before I get normal..

I want to give a free advise to scolari – play a very defensive formation now on – 4-2-3-1 .. with the way we are allowing goals, have two defensive mid fielders – miniero and mikel, and play lampard in the center with joe cole and kalou or maluda . play any striker as I feel both of them are useless .. need 10 chances to score one..

59. - 11th Jan

Pathetic. We will struggle to make the top four this season. We need to a new young coach like Rikaard. Drogba, Joe Cole , and Ballack need to be sold.

Read this article. Literally went to tears. Sir alex planned for this match 2 weeks in advance.. everything was planned. God knows what is going on at chelsea training ground .. Good that Roman did not watch this because he must be wondering what more to do after spending 700 MM.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1710/manchester-united/2009/01/11/1056042/ferguson-hails-manchester-uniteds-surprise-midfield-selection

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs were the slightly unusual combination that Alex Ferguson selected for this afternoon’s crucial face-off against Chelsea at Old Trafford, not a choice that many observers would have inked into their potential line-ups.

But the master was proved right yet again, as the young Scot and veteran Welshman combined to dominate the centre of the park and help United to a highly impressive 3-0 victory.

Giggs, indeed, received a standing ovation from the Old Trafford crowd when he was replaced late on by Michael Carrick.

“Honestly, Ryan was fantastic,” Ferguson gushed to MUTV, before claiming, “I kept him particularly for this game, I rested him.

“I told him two weeks ago he and Darren Fletcher would play against Chelsea. I thought this game was made for them, given Ryan’s ability to hold the ball and beat a man in midfield with that left foot. Ballack couldn’t live with him really.”

Ferguson also revealed that he was perfectly aware that it was a gamble he was taking though, and a gamble that could have backfired, but the risk had allowed his team to reap a rich reward.

“It could have been a mistake – it’s very easy to make a mistake when you’ve got a squad of 23 players. Genuine mistakes of course because you want to pick a team that wins and the supporters understand that. But today it worked and I’m glad it did,” he added.

Giggs also supplied the cross for United’s disallowed goal, a headed effort by Cristiano Ronaldo that resulted from a cunning corner ploy. After United were awarded a corner, Rooney put the ball in the arc and quickly rolled it into play for Giggs to collect and cross. The Chelsea defence were taken by surprise and Ronaldo netted, only for it to be chalked off because the linesman didn’t see it properly.

Ferguson was not amused, his irritation apparent from his unfinished sentence: We’ve worked at that. When you work at it and it’s disallowed because the linesman’s not watching…

I woke up this morning excited at Chelsea facing united I’m goin to bed tonite feeling degenerated and frustrated. Our players simply didn’t turn up however much of the blame also lys with the fans. For too long SB has been an unatmospheric dump last time I was there I could have read a book without a problem. Set pieces are a disaster for us we never put men on the posts which only can be a direct instruction frm LPS. It’s ludacris how we operate in deffense. We have no ‘flair’ players especially on the left since we sold duff robben etc we have let’s face it been shit. Scolari can’t speak fluent English how does he hold a dressing room full of big names and egos!? Impossible he sounds like borat most of the time!!! I think Chelsea’s season is kaput. Players which we should be looking at to come in are….. Affley, di angel, messi, aguerro, possibly kenwye jones as a long term drogba replacement. Players out are malouda, deco, ballack, and our weakest link jon obi mikel. We need a good inspirational manager martin oniel is up there with the best our main priority would be to BRING BACK JM!!!!!!!

64. - 11th Jan

players out: anelka, drogba, balack, deco, malouda
players in: benzema, bellamy, g.bale (for bridge), g.barry, ben arfa, (ribery)
the selling of the players will bring in money for this types of players.
benzema strong and a hope for the future, bellamy a great striker that wants more than west ham. ben arfa and ribery very fast and good and the bouth wants out. g.barry wants out and a hell of a player. gareth bale a great left back for the future.

we need changes and let them be smart. and for managers i would kill the so harry redknapp and steve clarke..

PLEASE ROMAN ABRAMOVICH READ THIS

Nothing more to say. Chelsea sunk to the absolute bottom. It simply cannot be worse. Avram Grant maybe was not a top coach, but he at least had a competent team around him and was able to learn from his mistakes. Now we have a Brasilian circus, unable to speak to most of the team (how do you want to motivate players at half-time with a translator? To set up fire in them, the will to die on the pitch and turn things round? Just imagine – half-time after a 0-1 first period… Scolari comes to the dressing room and starts creating some… sentences… with his English all the players listen carefully to try to catch the sense, when they should listen to the emotional, motivational speech that makes them stand up and fight… what effect can this have on the team???) Moreover, and this is worse, they are reluctant to learn from their mistakes. In short:
- set pieces – Chelsea again did mistakes that could suit to a conference team, not a European finalist!!! Players simply unable to organize marking of opponents, stay with them and react to their moves…
- starting line-up and substitutions – di Santo against ManUtd is the same nonsense as Stoch against Arsenal. What does Scolari expect to them in the last 10 minutes of the match of the season when we are losing? When they are not good enough to get a chance in the starting line-up even against fucking Southend?????
If this is the policy of “growing youth talents into stars”, then the whole board should resign with Scolari and go to hell. But more probable is that the old man is simply not able to think in advance and simply puts attackers when we are losing and defenders when we are winning. How distant is the past when AG was a target of jokes for this lack of competence (“now Hilario for Drogba – two goalkeepers”), but he has learned since then, what to do and when. Scolari seems absolutely resistent to any process of learning. No surprise when di Santo finally makes a mistake while defending a corner kick – what could he do when the whole team playes so awfully?

66. - 11th Jan

I’m a gooner and to see your team play like that was shocking. Top defenders making school boy errors.
You should blame Abrramovich he should’ve left Mourhino do his job instead he buys a Donkey for 30 Millions “Sheva” and orders the manager to play him. Guys if I was you I’ll be worried. If Abramovich calls it a day it starting to look like it, you will be left with millions of debts and an exodus of your top players. One moment I saw during the game which summed up the attitude of this team, when Lampard lost the ball he stood and watched he didn’t even bother to try and retrieve the ball. for a 130 grands a week I’ll bloody run like a maniac around the pitch.

67. - 11th Jan

Wtf..
MUST GO: Drogba,Ballack,Malouda,Ferreiera,Deco,Alex,Anelka
BUY NOW:Ben Arfa,Di Maria,Benzema or Robinho.

68. - 11th Jan

I think with the reluctance to buy , most likely we will have a new coach in summer. Roman doesn’t want to buy some one for 6 months and then in summer pay again to buy new manager wish list..

Will we be able to finish 3rd this season ??

69. - 11th Jan

What is he saying

Luiz Felipe Scolari has reacted angrily to his team’s defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford today, but rather than criticising his players for their inability to compete with United in the second-half, Scolari has focused his ire on referee Howard Webb.

Although things had been even up until half-time, when a Nemanja Vidic header put United into the lead, the Londoners failed to keep with the Red Devils in the second-half, and when Wayne Rooney volleyed in a second for Alex Ferguson’s men, the match was over as a contest.

“We conceded a goal that changed the game because after this goal they played more free,” Scolari said of Vidic’s opener on Chelsea’s official website.

“We tried to put more players in front and gave them the space they wanted to play.”

Although he made that concession that perhaps his tactics were wrong, Scolari soon switched focus to the match officials.

“They were better than us in that time but scored one more goal by foul,” the Brazilian continued.

“It is one more mistake (from a ref) and in that time, sure, 45 minutes they played very well, better than us.”

Scolari was also somewhat dramatic when he summed up the situation regrading the title, claiming that Chelsea must be “men” and regroup quickly.
