Chelsea 2-1 CFR Cluj | Hardly a ‘zero pressure’ game!
At the end of the first half hour, Scolari’s one way ticket to Brazil looked like money well spent. For all his claims of this being a zero pressure game, Chelsea were visibly under pressure. Just when desperation started to set in, Kalou suprised most including himself with his unusual control on the ball and a safe finish. I can’t believe that this is all Chelsea could come up with, in the most defining match of the season thus far!
We were served the same typical home performance of 08/09 last night too, except that there was Drogba for the last 30 minutes. That one man made a big difference. It’s not just the goal, it’s the way Chelsea were playing when Drogba was around. He oozes class with every touch. We need him if we have to win anything this season. As much as I’m tempted to give it to Drogba, John Obi Mikel must be the man of the match. Amazing performance yet again.
Chelsea finish runner up in a group exposing themselves to play a group winner in the next knock out round. Going by the general rules, it could be one of Juventus, Villareal, Porto, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Lyon or Panathinaikos, also depending on the Wednesdy night results. I don’t care much about who we play next because if you want to win the champions league you gotta meet and beat these teams. Runner up in the group also means that we would play the first leg at Stamford Bridge and the second leg away. Given our current home and away form, this might even be a blessing in disguise!
How many of us would relish another Chelsea vs Barcelona clash?
Match reaction article would be updated later on.
A necessary win. Drogs must be on the pitch either as a lone striker or partnered with Anelka or Di Santos when availiable through out this month. True, he can be an irrational hot head. But, Chelsea needs a win at all cost attitude.
TREBLE IS POSSIBLE!
So we got a reason today why Drogba is absolutely necessary in Chelsea!!!
ma gosh wat a relief
We are through! And blue mates the man is BACK!!! DD came in and it actually looked like we had a striker lol
and wat a great goal.
how many turnovers did we have through out the whole game??? and our midfielders, I dont understand why everyone thinks they are messi and tries one more dribble instead of passing the ball? and why do we look soo weak, they outworked and outmuscled us.
BUT I dont care how we got through, its now that the fun starts blue mates. and remember the KO stage is in feb, by that time we will have a full squad.
STAY WELL blue-mates
and why do we look soo weak, they outworked and outmuscled us.
I’ll give ya two words – “Frank Lampard”
Terry might be the team leader but Lamps leads the midfeild and our midfeild (which should be considered the best in the world) was sheit today.
They gave Anelka nothing to work with – and if it wasn’t for JT hitting the deck Kalou would have never gotten that cross.
Man – we gotta get the cobwebs out or we are not making it past the round of 16. And who has bets we draw Inter!?!
I’ts Karma – I call it here first!
well played by the boys today I feel. easily could have been a score of 4-1 (should have been 3-1) but a win was well deserved. we dominated Cluj for long stretches of the game. I think that by half time we had 60% possesion as well.
But what I want people to realize once again is the effect that packing the box has on teams like us. We dominated the game, Cluj sat back most of the time and tried to soak up our attack with defense in numbers. Sometimes I even counted 7-8 field players being crammed in their own 18 yard box! And when we had pressure on them, we got beat with the counter attack. The one key chance that they had outside of the first long range effort was the goal they eventually scored because like ALL teams that come to the Bridge, they decide to counter attack instead of play football! They caught us on the break with Kone using his pace to expose our lack of numbers and burned us on the break. GOAL, end of story!
But when you look at the game, Cluj, in effect, did nothing. Cech rarely had any work as did our whole defensive line. It was our midfield that KIND OF struggled today and in turn Anelka struggled. Although he really and truly should have finished the ball the either Deco or Cole gave him. Granted, the keeper was making some marvelous saves.
I will agree though, that we need to play a lot better. Hopefully we can look at Roma’s Menez in a swap deal for Malouda. I’ve been pondering that move because Menez is a “Robinho-esque” type of player that has those skills, an eye for goal and the killer pass. Just something to think about.
GOOD WIN BOYS!
@16CFCIR
WITH CHELSEA RECENT RESULTS , ONLY WITH A 6:0 WIN I WILL FORGIVE ALL OF THE PLAYERS AND BIG PHIL.
THEM DON’T BE A CHELSEA FAN MATE!!!
First of all, FUCK all of the people who say we should sell or doubt Drogba. Second Jose who is the bitch now, Pizzaro beat you 2 times. Long live Chelsea.
Thank God.. We moved into the next round.
Our likely opponents could be one of these – Barcelona, Juventus, Lyon or Bayern, Panathinaikos.
I am assuming Man U completes a routine win a home, and Porto doesn’t win with Arsenal..
Don’t want to play Barca or Juve, but the other three also doesn’t look easy with Panathinaikos ( managed by ten cate) beat Inter at San Siro also..
Hopefully, we would have a fit Richardo C back .. Will get to know our opponents this friday..
@26 – I think Inter will draw Liverpool again this season.. They have all three English teams, Barca & Lyon or Bayern to play .. The possibility of them playing Bayern or Lyon is 1/4 and my guess says they will play Liverpoool ..
Rafa vs Jose ( part 4 contd.)
@27. Vinton Lindo
Hey mate
well am not totally wit u on that one.
dont get to caught up in the ball possesion, because we were passing around like in handball and there were zero movement. Players were turning the ball over alot. and in the first half cluj actually outplayed use a lil bit. And it if wouldnt have been for mikel we would have been one goal behind early on.
But second half and specially when DD came in was much betta. and then end they really looked tired and we should have scored at the end to kill of the game.
I saw Menez play in the win this past weekend, and he was good. I se why they payed that much money for him. I doubt they would trade him for molouda!
I dont think there will be much action on the transfer window for chelsea in jan. Orlando sa seem to be heading to us for 4 mil £ but I cant really se that as a upgrade for out team. I think its better off to stay wit the players we have and try to put in the young lads into the roatiotion that we dont seem to have for the moment lol
I really think they would do well, the young lads we have in our squad. Plus now that we have DD back we wont be talkin about striker lack in chelsea anymore.
I´ll end this post by saying, how ugly or kewl this game may have been what matter the most is we got the “W”
today the result was soo much more important then anything else.

Don’t expect too much, I ain’t no David Bailey. These were taken from The Shed End Upper
Why the hell was Belleti being boohed? Was it because he came in for J.Cole?
And DD makes it seem so easy that leads to everyone actually under-rating him…
Also: was it me or Deco made some very good assists to Anelka who didnt use them? After DD came in he mostly was trying to assist him and not Anelka. :P
Great goal by Drogba
What the hell has happened to Cech recently? Looks pretty shaky and nervous.
Our mid-field really lacked Lampard’s direct pass and creativity. I thought Ballack was really really poor today.
If Carvalho played, we wouldn’t have conceded such a goal.
So, we could draw with the likes of Barca, Juventus, Lyon or Bayern.
Interesting!
Hey MiguelC!
I don’t know why the fans were booing him. But it is not the first time he was being booed by the Chelsea fans at the Bridge. I have witnessed couple of times this season that whenever Belletti touches the ball the fans start booing him. It is ridiculous, right???
we want lyon and bayern would be tougher because in last week i seen bayern match and ribery playing like what cr7 doing for man utd…and bastain and lahm also dangerous…
Guys Belletti the fans were saying Buuuuuuletiiiiiiiiiiiiii, even the commentator said.
Guys Belletti the fans were saying Buuuuuuletiiiiiiiiiiiiii, even the commentator said.
I dont understand the relevance of this comment to the context. Are you trying to spam? , lol .
So there we go,
Panathinaikos, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern or Lyon.
I think Lyon is the safest bet in this lot, supposing that they top their group. If we are able to shut down Benzema, the rest of Lyon is pretty much average. Juninho looks injured right now, but dont know if he will be back or not.
We will have a full squad in feb, unless our guys pick up new injuries. We badly want essien back in midfield and he shuld be playing along side mikel. Our MF turned out to be a laughing stock without Frank and Essien, One great thing that turned out finishing second is that we are able to avoid Intermilan and even better is the fact that a english team might get knocked out by Nerazzuri. But, lets accept that Inter are not invincibles. I would have relished to play Inter ahead of Barcelona or Bayern.
The easiest draw right now looks to be against panathinaikos or lyon. The toughest would be Barca or Bayern. One thing is sure, if we draw against Barca and defend like how we are doing right now, Messi is going to put 6 behind the net. Lets hope to have Ricky back.
I dont know what gay thing is going on between Deco and LFS. Why doesnot he substitute Deco at all? Ballack was poor today. He should have been substituted instead of joey. I am getting sick of his tactics. With one goal lead he wants to defend 30 mins or more. What on earth is he thinking? I am sure that we could have snatched one more if joey would have not been substituted.
the guys are saying they were booing Belleti, they were not. They were chanting Buuuuuuuulettiiiiiiii.
the draw is on 19 i have a feeling we will draw lyon or juve
the draw is nt very impt…i don’t really care who is our next opponent…but one thing for sure…they will be tough as they top the group…i am more worried about chelsea….they cant be one dimensional only….need a plan B and sometimes their play is too drect…hope scolari fix it…u guys agree?
Drogba is one of the biggest weapons in Europe so it’s a huge boost that he’s returned. I’m excited to have him back, and I hope he’ll find the net again this Sunday vs. West Ham. I have a feeling we will draw Juventus in the knockout stages, but by February I expect us to be at full strength with Essien returning… so I don’t think it matters who we draw, at full strength we are the strongest team in the world.
I doing think its a good time to relish an encounter with Barcelona.
We definately missed Lampard’s presence last night. I love Drogba because he plays to win. Wat a fantastic goal!
To clear up first, I don’t believe that anyone is booing Juliano Belletti. He is becoming a cult figure at the Bridge. You probably just heard one of two things:
1. The first syllable of the ‘Juliano Belletti’ chant, which doesn’t last long enough to sound remotely like a boo to me. Therefore the more rational idea is…
2. The crowd were telling him to ‘Shooooooot!’ Pretty much every goal Belletti has scored for us has been from long-distance and it’s now customary to tell him to shoot whenever he’s outside the box.
I can think of absolutely no reason why anyone would boo him, and I doubt that anyone did last night. The crowd were just telling him to shoot in a decent position, which happens in every game he plays at the Bridge.
@ 17, Joe Cole has just come back from injury and therefore needed the rest for twenty minutes. I didn’t really see Bridge and Belletti coming in to defend. There has been a recent clamour to try Bridge on the left wing over Kalouda, and we all know Belletti can play in the centre or on the right.
It didn’t make sense to substitute Ballack or Deco at that point in the game when we still could have scored another, because of how bright Drogba was. Subbing Mikel because he had a yellow was probably the wise choice.
Hey MiguelC!

FYI, they wrnt booing him…the shouts were for him to shoot….shoooooot..!!
Just the result we needed at crunch time and we got it, at home..!
Now for the tougher tests in the next round, we’ll have a stronger squad with RC and essien back as well.
So i think exciting times await us.
I HOPE WE FACE BAYERN OR PANA IN THE NEXT ROUND .
I WANNA SEE CHELSEA-BARCELONA CLASH IN THE SEMI-FINAL ,NOT NOW.
IN THE NEXT GAMES DROGBA MUST BE A STARTER.
How about we face Panathinaikos (Ten Cate), Juventus (Ranieri) then Internazionale (Mourinho) next? What a matchup!
Hey everyone – the crowd is not booing Belleti when he touches the ball- they are saying “shooooot” because of his amazing long distance goals for Chelsea!
The crowd were chanting shooooooot when Beletti touched the ball. Not booing him lol. The mans got a cult status amongst Chelsea fans.
Bad news folks — I don’t think he has a Plan B to play them both.. or play drogba atleast in home games to get that up and running…

Scolari: Anelka Is Chelsea’s No 1, Not Drogba
——————————————————————————————————–
Nicolas Anelka was initially signed by Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers as cover for injury-plagued Didier Drogba – one of the most outstanding strikers in world football over the last few years.
Everyone knew that Frenchman Anelka was a deadly Premier League goal-getter who could probably hold his own at Stamford Bridge while Ivorian Drogba was battling back from his injury troubles. Few, however, would have predicted that, a year on, Drogba would be foraging for scraps at the boots of Anelka, the Premier League’s top scorer.
The usage of the pair, then, is the first real test of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s career as Blues boss.
As it stands, despite Drogba’s match-winning cameo strike against Romanians Cluj in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, Brazilian boss Scolari is all for Nico.
The wily gaffer said: “We are where we are because our scorer is Anelka.
“Drogba is very important – one of the best in the world – but I need to think about Anelka.”
Scolari had been tipped to pair up the duo, but he passed on the chance to do so from the start in midweek, sending Drogba on to bolster the Anelka-led attack with some 25 minutes remaining.
Musing the would-be partnership, he continued: “It is my job to either put the two strikers together, or to choose which player is better for Chelsea.
“Drogba didn’t have a pre-season. Then there’s the injuries, and the three-match ban.
“I know he’s one of the best strikers in the world, but what can I do?”
Scolari appears to have made his choice and, even if there’s still a great many people who’d throw Drogba into the action at the expense of Anelka, despite his red-hot form, the Blues fans would surely prefer the boss to show more authority in his judgement, whatever his decision.
————————————————————————————————-
we outplayed cluj massively but they themselves were poor, im glad to have drogba back, it would be nice to say drogba and anelka are two halves of a biscuit but they aren’t, the only thing anelka has over drogba is slightly more speed
nonetheless we could play a 4-2-2-2 unless we only have one fit striker in which case we can play 4-5-1
We more like Chelsea when Drogba came.
Drogba holds the high ball and controlls it well while Anelka try to pass it with his head.when Drogba playing Anelka can play his own game because he gets more space and less opponents. I think it would be better to play with both the strikers..
And i would take any team as our next opponents.hmmmm
barcelona why not?they plays with 11 mens we plays with 11 mens .the only difference is messi and we have got Mikel to hold him on. Diffensievly they are poor.last three time both met Chelsea got the better of them twice When riccy and Essien back i think we will be the better team.
In short ,i dont fear anyone not only barcelona. Because i believe Chelsea is the better team

@24. Chris
thanx for clearing that one out. I saw the game on tv and didnt think they were booing him either but screamin to shoot cause by now everyone knows what he can do if he unleashes one of those shots only belletti can.
I agree wit you guys about ballack been really poor yesterday. This means he can only preform better from now on.
To be champions we gotta handle who ever they throw at us. So bring on barca, real or juventus. Am so tired of all this fuzz about barca. I hope we get real=)
Now that we have almost a fit squad, thats when we are actually are able to really question LFS. By the time we play the first leg of the next stage in CL, coach should have his big guns available. I think we will be aite ppl

Drogba is DON of Chelsea. He should be allowed to play only against Top teams else again the same age old story “Injury” will be discussed.

Speaking of purchases… why is it that we are not hot on the trail of a player like Karem Benzima? We really should be…!
Arselol lost to Porto, and porto will finish top. Bayern has been confirmed as i expected.
@37 – would cost more than 50 MM . At the moment, peter kenyon is even thinking for buying 5 MM player.
to buy benezima, we need to win CL , which will generate enough revenues..

Chelsea’s Drogba: I Didn’t Want To Leave Marseille
Didier Drogba has today added more fuel to the speculation that he will not be working at Stamford Bridge for much longer when he revealed that he never wanted to join Chelsea in the first place.
Rather, the Ivorian international wanted to stay longer with his boyhood team, Olympique Marseille. He wanted to stay with L’OM long-term, as it had always been his dream to play for them, and he insists that he would never have left the South of France if a certain manager hadn’t persuaded him otherwise back in 2004.
“To be honest, I didn’t want to leave Marseille, and staying there on the long-term was my project,” Drogba explained in a live interview on French TV station, Canal+.
“But a coach took the time to speak to me and made me understand that to become one of the best strikers in the world, I had to sign with Chelsea.
“This man is Jose Mourinho, a man I have a fantastic relationship with, on and off the pitch.”
Mourinho is now, of course, coach at Inter Milan, a club with whom Drgba has been repeatedly linked this season. The player cannot speak highly enough of the ‘Special One’ and seems to enjoy a very positive relationship with the man who convinced him that staying in France showed a ‘lack of ambition’.
“He made me understand that refusing to join Chelsea would have been like a lack of ambition, while staying with my club would have been a proof of fidelity,” Drogba went on to explain.
Whatever the truth of the matter, it is clear from his words that Drogba feels little emotional attachment to Chelsea or their supporters, and his remarks concerning Mourinho must set alarm bells ringing amongst the fans who wish him to stay.

Potential opponents for Chelsea:
Barcelona, Juventus, Panatinaikos, Porto and Bayern Munich
Who would you all rather draw? I would probably prefer to play Porto or Panathinaikos, but I think our squad will be ready and hopefully injury free in February, and I would also relish a Barcelona matchup. Regardless who we play we should win, this team is too strong. I believe that if we can avoid major injuries, we’ll be champions of Europe and in England.
looks like alex wants to leave chelsea..

dont know how true this is , but look at the last comment by scolari…
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article2017498.ece
amazingly cool dude.
well it was more of an eked out win, but atleast we are thru, i still cannot for the life of me understand why Drogba is so foolish to be wanting to leave?? no other team plays it more to a strikers liking than we do, everybody on the field knows what to do when he is around, cuz they have been playing with him for so long now, i like the Drogba who played yesterday, the one who played agnst L’pool last year in the CL, but he shld understand that he wldnt get half the setup he has here, Inter revolve around Ibrahimovic and there is no striker on earth who can displace that man right now, Drogs i gettin on,(over 30) and not too many players make it big at another club at this age, esp in a different league, he will in probability downslide his own career!!
Anyways i think when Carvy will be back and Essien too we will have real grit and true class across the field, even if we do get Barca its a long way off, lets contemplate our form then, lets get to the league for now, we have got quite a few tricky matches up, lets beat the Hammers(sorry Zola and Clarkey), loads of work to do, its not fair to criticize Scolari, as i have said before thi is not his team, the man’s not given the money to make one big signing, and there must be some reason he had wanted Robinho, as a manager he cldnt do 1 thing more than he did, even now he is looking for atleast 2 or 3 players in the winter, he must get them…i hope u are listening Kenyon…
£6m for Zaki?
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/scolari-calls-for-1636m-raid-to-bring-zaki-to-chelsea-1061087.html
lets leave drogbas speculation alone he will stay atleast till end of season
coming to draw
barca can play only chelsea arsenal lyon and inter as atletico villearal and real are from spain sporting is their group runner up so barca probalility of playing chelsea is 0.25
chelsea probility of playing one of 5 is 0.2
pantiakos is available to all teams except inter so probalitypan getting chelsea is 1/7 same porto getting chelsea is1/6(excluding sporting and arsenal)bayern probility is 1/7(-lyon) juve playing chelsea is 1/6 (-inter,real)so both ways barca is most probable opponent
nice calculations
if we draw barce the hard thing to stop wont be messi who is on fire but eto’o who is a monster at the moment, that said spanish sides struggle against direct play and this can cause problems if drogba is playing we should do well. Also a.cole would be charged with stopping messi not mikel, mikels job would be to shore up the midfield and stop xavi from spraying passes. I really dont want to go up against barce as they are because they high on confidence and many of our players have history with them so it would be very awkward encounter.
have you guys heard what avram grant said?

he says he never wanted anelka and anelka knew that!
Blue mates
This drog story is yesterday news. Can anyone tell drogs to stay away from reporters, please?? One thing drog got to understand is that Chelsea is the best thing that has happened to his career but he has done awesome things for the club as well. But as someone mentioned, he wont be the main man anywhere else other then in Chelsea so he need to realize that and chill.
And don’t be fooled by what he said, he grew up there and that’s where he feels it’s his home, clowning around wit his homeboys lol. Footballers don’t seem to be the brightest lads on earth that’s for sure. They should make them take English classes so they can communicate and more importantly don’t get misunderstood. In the end of everyone’s career what count is how many trophies you won, and if he aren’t going to man u, I cant really se him win more elsewhere. One more thing, he didn’t feel the love when he got to England, but damn you got earn it before you can get it. When he´s playing his best, I wouldn’t won’t to trade him for anyone else in the world, that’s how high I rate him. But the worst thing I know is when ppl whine like a b***h.
You know who I think we should blame for this entire drog situation? His wife=). Come on wifey you know what kind of man you got; first of all make sure you do some nice cornrows (his hair). 2nd you need to show and give your man enough love so he will back of TSO. This is for essien drog and mikel, TSO got muntari, ibra and cambiaso so he Aren’t thinking of you guys, get it!!!
Alex wants to leave? Well neither player nor manager is bigger then the club, so we shouldn’t keep a player if he doesn’t want to stay with us. Why don’t players try to take the challenge and try to prove themselves on the pitch then to take the easy way out? The only reward for that is that it’s easy. I read panathinaikos are interested in him. Well good luck wit that, that’s if it’s true. If this means we will have to bring back our own player (Michael Mancienne) who is wit the wolves, I would say thats got to be great news.

@ 50. mike ayad
Didn’t A Grant get Anelka to Chelsea? TALK is cheap AG, we all know why you got the post in the first place. U can fool ppl in Israel but not us.
i think getting zaki is going to be a smart move 4 us. he ‘s kind of striker that we need-very strong, like drogba, and we need him since the speculation of dd leaving in future is almost true. also we need to get rid of:
malouda, alex, ivanovic(both not really influential in defence). bring in thiago, and a great winger. chelsea formation look nice like this in jan
——–cech——
—-back 4——-
——mikel—–
ess-lamp-jcole/deco
—dd/nic–zaki—
Im pretty sure that if DD wants so bad to get back to Marseille they would wellcome him back. The OM fans even put a petition to raise money for that, all he needs to do is a very small thing: cut his wages in half. :P
Ive always (since he mooved to Chelsea) been a big fan of him nad he did good last match, I hope the regains his form and tempo so Scolari have more options in future: maybe a 4-3-3, who knows? :)
BTW:Has someone explained Belleti that shoot/boo thing? In TV it sure sounds like a boo.
WE NEED A PLAYER LIKE BENZIMA!!!
WE NEED DD!!!!!!! and Anelka as well. They can play together and do a tremendous job, I am sure. There is no use of playing 1 central striker at certain times, no matter how packed is our midfield with phantastic players, no matter how fast are our wingers and fullbacks. Drogs must stay, Anelka should stay as well – it gives us some options.
Btw. I’ve heard Alex is leaving in January… what d u think?
I wanna draw Real Madrid (is that possible ? ) or teams that open up and try to play some footie.
Chelsea would ram some goals down their throats !
@ 57 it is not possible in next round atleast because real are also runnerup like us and runnerup cant play each other may be in qfinal we can get real
After losing last years final in Moscow, I don’t think Drogba will truly want to leave Chelsea until he lifts the cup in a blue shirt. Plus, he’s too important to us, he would not be allowed to leave even if he wanted to… so I dismiss any rumors suggesting his departure.
About the potential Zaki signing, I think it would be the best possible transfer for us, considering his low price tag and also that he’s already proven to handle the rigors of the league, and was the PL’s leading scorer before he was injured . He’s got the physical ability to break down English style defenses.. and he’s not cup-tied, so he can participate in the Champions League. Sign him if possible.
There are 5 possible teams that Chelsea can draw next Friday. I know everybody is trying to avoid Barcelona, but I want to present to everyone a positive way to look at it if we draw Barcelona. If we lose, it will allow us to focus completely on winning the premiership back. After an injury-riddled season that plagued our team while trying for a 3rd straight title a few years ago, I’ve been dying to bring it back to Chelsea. If we win, we will definitely be the clear-cut favorites to win the CL and all teams will be hopeful of avoiding us. Not to mention there will be more exciting history added between the two clubs. If we want to win the CL, we’ll most likely need to go through Barcelona to do it, so why not draw them as soon as possible?
CHELSEA 4 LIFE

Believe me jmadmrer that is what we all want.Ivanovic out of Chelsea as soon as possible. He should sign for Inter or Juventus(who are interested) and he should not waste his potential playing for Chelsea. If he was in Alex’s position on the Cluj goal, Scolari would of course blame him and bench him the next game. Not a good position but I don’t know what he was thinking signing with you in the first place. Imagine if Vidic went to a club like Chelsea instead of ManU. Nobody would rate him as one of the best defenders in the world like they do today.
We want all the Serbs as far from Chelsea as possible. He could have signed for Manchester and we would have 4 Serbs playing for the best club in the world( Vidic, Tosic and Ljajic already play)

lol at 61.
Ivanovic will do much better at chelsea then he would have done at manU. Ivanovic is still relatively young for a defender and is being groomed as a replacement for carvalho, alex was always a second choice defender because he is similar to terry and having to CB’s that are very volatile in defense is dangerous.
Zaki might be an interesting signing but i have my doubts he did best when heskey was on beause heskey was able to feed him so well, he hasnt scored many goals with his head yet and chelsea weak point has been controlling the ball when it being bombed around. Supposedly chelsea have already signed Orlando Sa but he will come next season. A wasteful signing in my eyes as from what ive seen of both him and di santo, di santo is the better player. Sinclair and mancienne are stepping up and i think stoch will be soon as well.
The west ham game will see anelka start with drogba coming on if we are losing or barely winning while stoch might come if we start thrashing them.
If i wanted to risk it against a weak west ham side(poor zola inheriting such a piece of shit team)

screw the width, let belletti and bridge go up half was or so and long ball it to drogba or pass it off to lampard/deco and let them weave their magic, ballack is their as control tower and cause ruckus during set plays, anelka plays just off drogba and play a slightly wider role and comes in to utilise his speed and drogba’s ability to take out 2 defenders.
MANCHESTER CHAMPION!!!!!!
hahahaaaaaa YOU’RE A HERB! WHY DO MANSCUM COME TO COMMENT ON A BLUES SITE! JUST SHOWS HOW MUCH WE ARE ALWAYS ON THEIR MINDS!
I think ideally, Sa would be the one we would want to replace Drogba (if he leaves us) because of the sheer size of him, but whether he can play up front with Anelka remains to be seen. I think long-term, him and Di Santo would be a formidable partnership. Add Zaki into the mix and I think we would be very dangerous. I see Stoch as Kalou’s replacement and Kakuta as Malouda’s.
In four season’s time, just after the UK has humiliated itself trying and failing dismally to organise and run an Olympics, we might look a little like this, if we are going down the route of not buying much and bringing our (excellent) young talent though:
Cech
Bosingwa
Terry
Mancienne
A Cole
Kakuta
Mikel
Essien
J Cole
Di Santo
Sa
(Taylor, Stoch, Borini, Smith, Mellis)
Question is – will we have won the Big One by then, and will LFS still be in charge?
I dont want Alex to leave!!!!!!!!!!!!! chelsea must hold onto him !! When Riccy does go elsewhere, or if he retires, it’s Alex I want to take his spot. Alex is almost as good as..JT and Carvalho.. Loosing him would be a tremendous blow for us!
I guess thats why scolari was looking at thiaga silva…but hes rated as a 10mill cb..ill take take for him..and apparently scolari’s number 1 target now is amr zaki… along with Orlando Sa
I wouldn’t either Ivanovic or Alex to leave, but if I had to pick I’d keep Ivanovic. He’s a bit younger (2 years) and seems to be more defensive minded. But really though, they should both stay. Carvalho is getting old, and Terry could get injured… then who would we have left?
Also, I wouldn’t want Drogba to leave, but the way he’s acting since Jose left I can’t say I care too much either. He’s definitely good, but with all the drama around him, he might be bringing the team down. Just wish he’d play like he used to without all the crap… he certainly has the ability we need.
@63
Zaki would have excellent service up front with our world class midfielders. If he can do what he does with mid-table Wigan, imagine what he can do with Chelsea. We could even pair him up with Anelka (even if Anelka likes being lone striker), and he can be our target man.
Well, when you compare it to whether you are going to qualify for a world cup with two games left in front of 180 million people, yeah id say it was a ZERO PRESSURE game for scolari. Besides theres only so much a coach can do…after that its down to millionaire players to pull their fingers out and PERFORM.
LOL, its funny to see all these punks dishing out two-bit advice to the great scolari, but this, buy that, use this formation etc…RIDICULOUS. Go play football manager on the PC and leave the real football to real men.cheers.
Zaki scored a sensational scissors kick vs. Liverpool, just like Deco’s last week, so he can definitely be a threat in the air as well. Imagine this physical strength we would have on our forward line pairing Zaki and Drogba in the CL, it would be devastating.
we should buy micheal owen he hasnt accapted the latest newcastle contract so i think we might have a chance
we should play
