I think most of you are forgetting Scolari’s injury news for this game:

Joe Cole is fit and could possibly start. DD will make the bench.

Lord Percy’s injury is unfortunate, seeing as he’d just got back in the team. Hopefully we can have him ready for Arsenal’s visit to the Bridge at the end of this month.

chelsea has a very dominant midfield, if our midfield dominates the match we win. Against teams like liverpool who probably have on par with chelsea the strongest midfield in england we struggle because our midfield cannot truly play its way. In those situations a quality striker is needed just because they allow goals from nothing. Chelsea has probably the weakest attack of the top 4 in terms of finishing quality. Anelka,j.cole and malouda on their day are amazing but are rarely firing on all cylinders. We need drogba back just because it provides a different kind of player to both kalou and anelka.
in terms of a team from midfield onwards

When chelsea plays its really obvious that our fullbacks are very important because they create the width, bosingwa more so then a.cole who generally feeds malouda/lampard/deco and stays back a bit more. Bosingwa is given free license to bomb forward and become a winger as kalou plays more as a second striker then a real winger. Deco and lampard create with deco taking the early attack role while lampard sneaks in to find space. Chelsea is pretty easy to read and if you can stop bosingwa or a.cole from doing their stuff effectively the attack is pretty much nullified. Of course its pretty hard to do that but against good opposition chelsea is a one trick pony. Thats why we need drogba/essien/ballack back. Drogba and ballack both provide a significant aerial threat while essien provides an option that allows us to play with more withdrawn players since he can back up mikel as well as attack. The injury crisis at chelsea means that we have very few attacking options but the one we do have is so good and powerful that against 90% of teams in the world we could score with relative ease.

BC great job/preview!

I agree the sooner we score the easier its gonna be.
am soo eager to se this kid di santo play, you have talked so much about him and I havent seen him play much.
but I doubt it Big Phil gonna eva start him. the only way anelka gonna hit the bench is if or when DD gets back or he gets hurt. hope the second one dont occur though.
maybe we dont se the whole picture here, maybe Mr anelka is outshining ppl in practice and wit ppl I mean the strikers. or maybe he is livin up to the coachs expectation. fo wat ever reason it is. as long as we keep winning its aite. but u cant not but get fed up wit the fact that wit DD out we got the worst strikers out of the big four.

i hope the team gives back to the homefans (and every blue fan 4 that matter) by perform great game!
