For your info, ZAKI and TEVEZ are on full season loan contract, meaning they will only be available for purchase end of the season unless their current tenant decided to release them unconditionally, which has a probability of none, ZERO. I do fancy us adding one more Attacking player but if it means we have to lose Ivanovic, then I rather not. I would prefer if it is Paulo Fereira, simply because I love him as a footballer and a strong left back. He has served us well and we need to acknowledge that we've got Bosingwa and Belletti ahead of him, I hate to see him losing his place in Portugal and I think he deserves weekly football. I would love to see Ezequiel Lavezzi at the Bridge, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BAmpvZlzsE&feature=related), he is not Drogba or a strong Joe Cole, is something else, something we don't have. We don't need replacement, we need alternatives. I would go as far as rating him a "Zola" potential. Call me crazy, but would die to see him in our jersey.

[69. Niju ] "comments of JM" ... well said, but would like to add that unlike many, I would also thank Raneiri for he was at the start of Roman's era and he did contribute to what we are today. We are definitely not overnight success team like others had mention as Chelsea did go thru the nurturing process to be at our status. Those who dare say Chelsea had no history only because they did not bother to find out more, but we BLUES fan, we know our history, we know where we came from and nobody can take that from us. KTBFFH!!!

Roman is sticking to the balancing the club by 2010 really hard. Due to our tarnished image and the financial situation globally, he wants us to excel with who we have rather than keep signing big players that underperform. We can get rid of 2 players and bring in 4-5 others. I would assume he would not mind more academy and reserve talent to be acquired due to his recent dismantling of the scout team. Thus we'll have to sell a few players to get around 20mil pounds (give or take) and then be able to buy a 10mil pound player, a 5mil, and the other 5mil can be spent on quite a few youngsters.

What happened to the 30 million pounds or so that was supposed to be used on Robinho? Why can't we use those funds in January?

umm 8 goals in 11 games is actually a very good return for a striker. sure he aint the type of player to make a goal from nothing but he allows a scoring player when our midfield dominates.
Supposedly scolari has been given a 10 million pounds to work with, what kind of player can you get for 10 mill? Better to give more time to the youth.

Patience Chelsitos, patience! Rooney nor Tevez is a striker but Man U have done quite well with them! Anelka is not a striker, he's a poacher who likes to move around. Once Drogba is healthy we should pair them up. Drogba is our big man that we can target and Anelka can move around him to create space for the pair of them. Much akin to how Ronaldinho was at Barca, he was up top as a forward but was behind Gilardino creating space and what not. These type of forwards are not a bad investment. For the time being yes we need a backup out and out striker. Di Santo is big enough and has pace but does he have the strength that Drogba can have at times (when he isnt busy being a pushover as it seems its 50/50 with him)? Anelka is producing, we've lost 1 and tied twice. This is not a bad start to the season. The only thing we need to do is get Di Santo experience if we are not going to offload Kalou and others to get a bigger name striker. I would personally stick with Anelka and only pick up a replacement for Malouda if he continues to waste opportunities. Anelka wasting opportunities as a striker should happen, its not how he plays. Malouda should not be squandering his chances when he is playing the exact role that he is supposed to be so brilliant at.

I think our season will come down to how the front 4 - Malouda, Drogba, Anelka, and Joe Cole - play and if they are able to stay healthy enough to mesh and play well together. With those 4 playing to their ability up front, the addage of Ashley Cole and Bosingwa bombing forward and Lampard pushing up as well I think we will be able to afford to miss the likes of Michael Essien and Michael Ballack. As long as our back four is stable with no more than one or two out at a time (two is pushing it, depending on who it is that is out). Mikel is playing splendidly as well. Thus, from now until January, if we are talking about player transfers we should only focus on Malouda and a backup for Drogba. Expendables? Malouda, Kalou, and Ivanovic. Replace them with two younger but stabler players and two more youth prospects should be a fair deal.

@71 nice one bruv, lets give Anelka a chance, he is not scoring the best goals but he is working hard 4 the team, that's important enuff 4 me. On the game itself super frank was gr8 and so was joey. The made the whole team look different - always movin. I loved the 3rd and 4th goal most, 4 the skills displayed and the weightiness of the passes and movement ofcourse. Good game hpe we can keep it up and better it 2morrow

Lets put it like this:

Anelka at his mediocore form - will score 9 goals
Anelka at his best form - How manay goals?

But right now anelka is scoring goals in his mediocore form. We need a Anelka who scores at his best form. So a little bit of bashing here and there will do only good to him.
get off Nico's back. He may not be as deadly as Torres or as passionate as drogba but he is scoring even if some of the goals are dodgy. let's support him. I would keep my opinion till we see him play regularly with Drogs then we will know how good he is. He is certainly not one to play alone up front. he loves to move, dribble, set up, move into space. I will not give up on him. many of us giving up on him were not willing to give up on Sheva tho the latter was not giving us goals at the rate Nico is doing at the moment.
your right Anelka is one of the best strikers we have and he already scored 9 goals for us and sheva berly scored goals for us. Give Anelka a chance...........
