It’s official now. Scolari can’t beat top four teams, not even at home. To use a cliche, this was a match of two halves. The one in which Arsenal wasn’t even there on the pitch. And the one in which we were a bit complacent, conceded an offside goal and we couldn’t create chances to save our lives. So that’s 12 points lost at home out of a possible 24. Funny that Arsenal, of all teams, had to beat us at home. Well, every dog has its day.

Are we supposed to get used to this? Hand on heart, we deserved nothing from this game. Bordeaux must feel unfortunate that they didn’t get all three points. This match was a very crucial one from the progression perspective. The kind of performance Chelsea put in, in a match of this significance, is really worrying. The buck stops with Felipao. He needs to sort out certain things, in very quick time.

Points lost at home, again. Least points scored in an unbeaten home league run – that would be a record in itself right? In 05-06, we had so many draws at home which finally cost us the title. We didn’t have our keepers and centre backs and all that boardroom drama then.

This season we’re flying high but winning at home is no longer a habit.  Now we couldn’t score against Newcastle at home? Don’t get me wrong. We are on top of the table. Table-wise, we are better than every other team in England. We’re also tied on points with Liverpool while we should be leading them by 5 or 6 points. As I’ve always said in recent times, our attack is our achilles heel.

Playing Newcastle at Stamford Bridge should not be too much of a problem. I mean on paper. As they say matches are played on ptich rather than on paper. Our form in all competitions has been like this: W-L-W-W-L-W-L-W. That’s the most inconsistent Chelsea run in recent times, isn’t it?
