Middlesbrough are a good team. I love watching them play. They play a very open and attacking type of football. Especially when they play the top four teams, they find a lot of enery and motivation that they will even threaten the biggies. The worst result under Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea was against Middlesbrough at the Riverside stadium. It was a 3-0 win for Boro. How many teams have beaten a Jose Mourinho’s team with a 3-0 scoreline? I will never take Boro lightly. They can be bloody dangerous on their day, especially at the Riverside. So, that’s Boro.
Now, over to Chelsea. Who do we have for tricky away match? Essien, Carvalho, Deco, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, John Terry, Anelka, Drogba, Bosingwa, Cech .If you think is a probable playing eleven, you’re not following the news. This one would be the missing eleven. Who else would play then? We have a couple of in-form players in Lampard and Ballack. I didn’t see Malouda’s name in the list, did I? So he could be in. Ivanovic should play. Alex would be there as well. Bridge would do well in place of Ashley Cole. In the right back, it should be Belletti. I now can’t think of a Bosingwaless Chelsea but I rate and respect Belletti a lot. Mikel and Kalou should be allowed ot steal the limelight. Franco should get in and trust me he would score. And well, it should be nice to see Carlo on goal. Now that’s my eleven. Will you bother me to pick the bench too? Practically, anyone else who can stand on their feet qualify for the bench.
We could play 4-3-3 and I’m not sure if we could play with the same approach that has sent shivers across. I think much will depend on the first 15-20 minutes. Boro this season have not conceded a goal in the first half. Chelsea gets more and more rusty if the goal looks distant and difficult. On the other hand, if we score early, we could be in for a treat. The team that plays on Saturday has so many second choice players who would be keen in putting a strong performance for Scolari. With January approaching, lot of these players would be too keen to get on the pitch. For someone like Franco di Santo, there can’t be a better opportunity. Drogba and Anelka are injured out. Scolari can also play Kalou as the lone striker and put Malouda and Joe Cole on either sides which would mean a subs place for Franco di Santo. That would be sad. I’d pick Franco ahead of Joe Cole for this match.
A good result here could be a further confirmation of how strong Chelsea is, what depth the squad has, how we are still the favourites and the team to beat. The so-called second string Chelsea team does have a lot of players who can start for many other good premier league teams. But the issue here is not the individual capability of these players, it is their ability to play together as a team. See, even if you play an ordinary set of players always together for a long period of time, they’ll get better as a team. On the other hand, now matter how talended the individuals are, if they don’t have enough playing time together, it would be difficult. For instance, in how many matches have you seen this combination – Cudicini, Belletti, Alex, Ivanovic and Bridge? What kind of understanding and communication would they have, when they first get together in a premier league match?
Okay, I could be exaggerating a bit about our injury situation here. The some of them from the missing players list could get better and be available for the match. Still it’s a very tricky match. After this one, we host Liverpool on 26th of April. If we can beat Boro, the match against Pool at Stamford Bridge could be the one where we kick them down from the top of the table. Oh wait, Torres would be missing the next three matches including the match at the Bridge! If Wigan can play as well as they did against us, Liverpool would get knocked off the joint-top spot.
Before I forget, good news from Russia. Roman Abramovich has won as an independant candidate in the Chukotka region in the recent elections. He got 97% votes polled in his favour. That’s crazily unbelievable. It’s even scandalous! Anyway, Roman’s done a lot of things for Chukotka region in the capacity of governor and otherwise, so that’s people’s way of showing their gratitude. Amidst rumours that he lost some hundred millions in the recent financial crisis, there is something to cheer for Roman. Oh well, he also has a series of fantastic Chelsea performances to cheer about!
To all those guys that have given their xbox live ID – I’ve added you all as my friends in xbox live. I have also invited you to the new football club ‘BlueChampions’. You can join and pick the centre back and full back roles while I play the striker ;-) Also I played two of you last night in online games. It was fun. It was a relief to play a friend rather than some unknown kid who wants ranks and points than fun and enjoyment.
Back to this match now. I expect a 2-0 win for Chelsea. Also Liverpool to draw with Wigan and Rafa to complain about internationals. Arsenal to hold Everton and Wenger to moan about Everton’s physical approach. Man Utd to zip past West Brom with a heavy scoreline which might include a hard earned penalty by Ronaldo. Newcastle to hold Man City with a mighty spirited performance. I’m waiting for that debut goal from Franco di Santo!

wow thats a lot of injuries. still im confident we can get the job done. Even if we draw i’d still be pleased, kind off.
I would rather go a astep ahead and claim a more comprehensive victory….say 3-0..
This is the greatest blog in the history of all blogs
Chelsea 4 ever
Good news
(http://uk.reuters.com/article/footballNews/idUKSP36886420081017?rpc=401&)
i think cech could be fit for saturday because i think it was just a small thigh injury that just ruled him out of the qualifier. hopefully joe cole and terry will be fit and malouda is not injured in case you were wondering BC. he was used as a sub late in the france game. but there is some good news, torres will be out for 2 weeks and is said he will miss the Chelsea match. thats very promising considering torres is the only one consistently scoring goals for liverpool. im confident even with our injuries we can still hold our own until the first teamers get back.
by the way good match the other day BC (I am ULCards03). im looking forward to the rematch now that i have a little mre fifa 09 experience. cheers!
ivanovic is in form and so is serbia in their qualifiers 2 goals for ivanovic ……….a strong defender like nemanja vidic and god in the air……he should definetly start
Hello Blues , BC this is my random rating for Ur job ????? (It doesn’t count 4 the FIFA 09 article cus I can’t do any type of vidgame eccept 4 Tetris)
Question- Em I the only girl around here? I ‘m just curious?
So as I mention B4 for in this explendid place , I wanted Uncle Phil to do with Chelsea wat 9 ( make that 9,000) lives Turkey did in the Euro. Remember how their were playing their ass off. So right now my beloved Chelsea is looking just like them, witch will make them the official Premier League Turkey-esque team , do U follow me? Thers not much to say right now, but to get a good result. (cus with all the injuries Chelsea also looks like Florida on hurricane season, they still there fighting hurricanes year after year) (I’m crazy, I know ). As BC mentioned B4 “A good result here could be a further confirmation of how strong Chelsea is, what depth the squad has”. Yeah, we have to show them what we got. BC do U read minds dude cus I’m also ” waiting for that debut goal from Franco di Santo!”.(U know me better than my Mom) And I hope its an awsome goal btw. I’ll cross my fingers and my hands again to see the Blues coming from injury hell and display some beautiful footie as well , an getting those three points beatyfully . Thats all 4 now hope all goes Turkey-esque on saturday. Peace , Be Champions.
Ivanovic interview: ” Chelsea like a family” (pathetic)
These two games are just the first step. There’s much more work and proving to be done before I can speak about my standing in the club.
All I can do is work and be ready for every opportunity, how much time I spend on the picth is not up to me.
I am glad that such big clubs as Milan and Juventus were interested in me, but I was then and still am I Chelsea player, and all that interests me is playing.
The work of the manager is best seen through results, we are currently fighting onthreefronts, and soon to be 4 when the FA Cup kicks off. We are happy with the results for now, buit much more work is ahead of us.
To be honest, I did not expect the Chelsea players to accept me the way they did when I arrived here. they really helped me and other newbs adjust well. There is a family atmosphere in the club.
We (Serbia) have to drop all calculations and concentrate on the picth and play two good games against those two teams.

it is quite unfortunate dat d core players are not physically ok, let us pray dat GOD of football will c us through.
Scolari announced this afternoon that Ballack is OUT for three weeks (despite playing for Germany in midweek), JT is fit to play, Deco will travel and will be on the bench and both Coles (Ashley and Joe) are OUT!!
Wow…Injuries galore
On the other hand I’m grateful that we have all these injuries tite now considering we’ve had a good start to the season so far
Expectin the lads to give 100%
I’m even expecting a win………2:1 to Chelsea
Now its really lookin like Turkey-esque=)
Michael Ballack has had an operation on both feet to remove “thickened tissue”. The German captain underwent the strange and frankly, rather disgusting, procedure following the victory over Wales, and he will be unable to train for the next two weeks.
I don’t care about how we la on saturday, I just wan to see us get the 3 points; see liverpool lose and see arsenal draw again.
this is great chance for di santo/stoch/sinclair to shine.
True blues r 4 real, all i need is d 3 points .
With another masterful display Super, Super Frank is going to lead us to victory.
I thought they said Deco would be out for three weeks, four weeks ago… I miss watching him!
Can’t wait for the Di Santo start, I want him to score his first goal too!
0-2 Chelsea.
anyone know a website where i can watch the game tomorrow. the one i usually use isn’t working. someone help please!
OK just droppoing some Scolari word. Good lord tanx 4 giving us Scolari.
This is wat Scolari said about Our current situation:
The Brazilian coach has captain John Terry fit again to face Gareth Southgate’s side at the Riverside but has drafted in a host of youngsters for the trip north.
Among them is England under-21 defender Michael Mancienne and winger Scott Sinclair.
But Scolari is without regulars Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, Michael Ballack, Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and Ricardo Carvalho with doubts over Jose Bosingwa and Alex.
Scolari declared: ”Nineteen players I have to train. Nineteen are with me today. And all of those are in good condition. John Terry has recovered to play tomorrow.
”Joe Cole will not go with us. Some other players won’t go with us because they are injured.
”But I have a team, I have players who will play against Middlesbrough and it’s not a problem for me if we have one, two, three or four injuries.”
The latest addition to Scolari’s mounting injury toll is German captain Michael Ballack.
Scolari confirmed Ballack is expected to be out for up to three weeks even though he played against Wales in Germany’s 1-0 victory in midweek.
Ballack was already carrying a calf injury when he reported for international duty and that was further aggravated against Wales.
However, Scolari insists he is not angry over the loss of the midfielder.
”Ballack is out for maybe two or three weeks,” admitted Scolari. ”I’m not angry. I’m happy because it’s a test for me that I’m a good coach.
”I need to change it, to improve, I need to put other players in, I need to motivate other players.
”It’s good for my job, it’s good for my work. It’s not difficult for me.
”For me it’s normal, I need to build every week, one different team.
”Many clubs have injuries from the national games because they are strong games. In football it’s normal.
”I worked yesterday, Thursday, with only 11 players. Today I worked with 17. It’s better! Maybe Saturday I have 19.
”Against Roma in the Champions League next week, maybe I will have 20 or 21. This is the life for the coach, you need to understand we have different games and I need to understand that national teams want and need the players.
”I’m a coach, I need to build my team with the players that I have.
”The coaches for national teams don’t want injuries for his players, he wants what we want – to win.
”It’s not only one club that loses when national teams play. All the clubs. One time my club loses players, one time Liverpool, one time Man United. We need to accept this. If you don’t accept this it’s impossible.
”If you are injured at Chelsea you don’t play, if you are injured in the national team you don’t play. I don’t see any time in my life when one coach put a player on the pitch if he is injured.”

Middelsborough 0- 5 Chelsea
I think BC you need to publish a 10 page long article, with just f4 words repeating again and again “Phil is the best.” He just delivered a very convicing victory against the Riverside with so many players missing, there is no words to praise his tactical ability. It was an total anhilation of MIddelsborough today. i feel pity on them….
Kalou should be a regular starter and he is way better than Anelka, when it comes to finishing. Superb strike from Belleti, he did it again, a 25 yard shot…and a very confident Cudiccini, though he had to do hardly anything today.
And i think it would be very difficult for Scolari in future, coz´today the subs proved they aren´t worth a penny less than our normal starting 11. An Excellent play, thankyou Chelsea.
BC where is your match report?
chelsea is getting better every game , dominating the game on 90 min .
every player today was good. even anelka. he diddnt score but he made very good runs and hold the ball good so the other players can fill in the box. very good play by chelsea. blues 4 life
another very important fact is that chelsea won such a win using players that probably wouldnt have played if the whole team had been fit.
I dont know how he does it, but boy!! What a cracker of a goal it was!! Last year i voted, juliano for goal of the season and i dont see any reason why it should not be him again.

Hey you forgot http://www.justin.tv – shows almost all live matches![/quote]
Its a very good link where u can watch all the matches. dont forget to catch the atletico against real later this night. it s gonna one hell of a game
It now seems how Chelsea plays depends upon what mood scolari is in. He can do all those impossible things and make team score as much as they wants. Even we hadn´t expected such a big win, had we? no one can believe we had 7 no.1s missing. from next time we need to anticipate scores like 4-0, it seems all normal for chelsea now……haha…i´m loving it….now i can understand why i can score 5 goals against liverpool even when i play in worldclass level in fifa´09…lol
that was an absolute destruction of boro’s defense, especially when you consider that the majority were second string or bench players. chelsea has enough quality for two world class teams.
i don’t think anyone can deny kalou the starting 11 either. he was quick on the run, responsive on the goal, and provided a couple of very good crosses, which is more of a contribution than anelka has been.
as for malouda, im glad he has a fantastic game. i think scolari knew his potential and its definitely starting to show.
This was a good game for us and i’m glad we got the maximum points. But I wish ivanovic had played. It was also good to see belletti in the midfield; however, I can’t help but wonder if the combination of Lampard and Mikel is not the best midfield duo in the league. All the matches they play together has seen our midfield completely outclassing our opponent’s. Mikel holds the ball all the time, distributes well, gets assists and stops the attacks of the opponents while lampard also passes well and is always hungry for goals.
Did you see Belletti’s strike? I think that’s the third time he’s doing that stuff now.
O h LORD I’m speechless. Guys I couldn’t watch the game I was working, but when I read the news I was jumping around my house. OK, now to Uncle Phil, FIFA give this man the coach of the year award. An Roman U must be really happy right now, so buy Uncle Phil the most ridiculous yatch U can buy.
BC were the hell is your match report, are U still recovering from what happened today, I understand. Thats it people, I have nothing else to say. Cheers, and get drunk in the name of the blues.
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Okay, it was an impressive win. Kalou is playing with a lot of class. Belletti is showing he still can contribute. Lamps is solid. And we still await the return of the likes of Deco and Ballack. Drogs may return to form. But, it is still early in the season. Injuries can still happen. We hadn’t won any silverware this season. And, and, and….. Ah, what the heck:
SCOLARI, OH—OH
SCOLARI, OH–OH–OH
CHELSEA WILL GET THE JOB DONE
BIG PHIL OUR NEW SPECIAL ONE
Great match !
Great team !
Great Blog !
ok from what i saw of the highlights anelka did a very good job harrying the defense and generally causing problems. The mikel/ballack/lampard duo is absolutely dominant in midfield. There is no team in the world with a more imperious midfield. Now that malouda is firing on all cylinders our wingers are getting stronger too. Chelsea’s team is easily the best team in the world at this moment. That said i couldnt see sinclair was he any good during his brief stint?
now scolari has selection deadache now thta deco is back, who does he drop? and Kalkou has mas made appereances and scored 3 goals this season playing as winger but cutting into a striker position very much like ronaldo, he could become our ronaldo
big phil is the Man we had been waiting for. jose set the foundations right and now steps in the master conductor. And by the way, am still waiting to read an apology from all those on this blog who were clamouring for Belleti to be offloaded during the summer transfer season. Thank God, Scolari knew better- long may Belleti continue making us sing.
