I’m a huge fan of Aguero, and although I agree with all of you about using the youth as opposed to keeping the buying spree going, I don’t want us to turn into Arsenal. I loved what we did this summer, bringing in two players. Buying a player here, a player there, just one per window, as we keep our squad young, fit, and dynamic, is ideal. Hopefully Di Santo is all he’s cracked up to be, and I’ve been impressed by the glimpses I’ve seen of him, but he’s A)in a different mould than Aguero and B) not shown enough to be put in the same class as Aguero. I mean, Tevez, Messi, and Aguero can be spoken of in the same breath. They’re Argentina’s elite young trio of forwards. Can Di Santo join them? Hopefully! But let’s not start saying that he’ll be better than Aguero… The kid’s got a lot to prove.

Aguero’s not staying at Atletico all his career. He’s way too good. Let’s hope that when he moves on, he graces Stamford Bridge with his presence, because wherever he’s going, he’s going to be worth every penny of the huge fee they’ll pay for him.

@61….Malouda is an excellent winger?since when…..he can cut in?this is a news for me..I have always seen him running circles around himself…he is the weakest link in Chelsea attack…..and then he easily gives up possession….

kalou should have known that his playing time would be reduced this year. He only played so many games because of injuries.
Malouda is an excellent left winger. Left wingers arent that common especially orthodox ones. Malouda can cut in and cross the ball. The problem was that chelsea didnt use wingers orthodoxly, mourinho and grant prefered the ones that cut in and fed off drogba and for counter attack, both j.cole and robben are wingers that cut in.
Out of all the talented strikers in the world i would rate fabiano and benzema as the only candidates to realistically take over drogba. Solid strikers are hard to come by, thats why drogba is still so respected he is a rare breed, can hold off two defenders, has a great touch, strong shooting, strong with head and good positional sense. Their is only a handful of players that can do that.

Im not sure if Ballack is 100% fit after his foot injusry. If he is, after the game he had against manure last year, i say put him in. its always going to be tough and everyone will always be wondering if we are fielding our strongest 11 (especially in midfield) simply because we have so much depth. I am 110% confident in our squad every week but its jsut hard to imagine leaving players like ballack or deco or joe cole on the bench and knowing we have fielded our strongest squad. i guess thats the “problem” with having so many quality players because only 11 are going to make the starting lineup.

Also I have to agree with BuildChelsea. players like benzema and aguero are no doubt quality players, but what is the point in youth academy if we are going to keep bringing in middle-aged players that will take any chance our youngsters will have of getting playing time. maybe kalou and di santo and others have not become stars yet but from what i have seen they are well on there way to making it. i actually think di santo could become better than his compatriot aguero. di santo has the height and his finishing is already pretty good. I would hate nothing more than to see us sell our young players and bring in older players which are just immediate solutions and leave nothing for the future. youth academy is how you build a club and Chelsea’s is well on its way of being one of the best.

oh and @39…..I hope your name is of some other reference and you dont think we are the blue devils. you might want to rethink the name

Am glad for belleti. Most people on this blog wanted him off loaded but a few of us (read me and BC) kept faith in him. Am sure on the eve of the spurs match when i suggested that he be used as a defensive mid, most of you i was crazy. Am glad big phil is just as crazy as me. Bel is class especially when moving forward. He is so comfortable on the ball and what a power laden shot he has- almost as super as his compatriot in that domain. Long may big phil continue to use belleti.

ballack demolished them last season, it seems a shame not to play him from the off. Lampard’s on fire so he has to play, but it’s whether or not deco can play his socks off. If he plays he better know that he’s keeping ballack out, and rip the midfield apart. I’d like to play 3 CM’s, deco, ballack and lampard, but then again cole and bossy won’t have all the freedom that they’ve had in other games, so we’ll lack width with no wingers. Hmmmmm, i guess scolari really is going to have to earn his wages this time.

They have no natural wide defender playing on one side of the defence, with brown maybe playing centre back (or john oshea so either way its win win for drogs), and garry neville playing pants after his injury. If drogba’s got his heading head on we might get a lot of joy if malouda and joey can cross well.
