Chelsea 4-0 Bordeaux | Just too brilliant . . .

The best performance of the night. A very thorough, confident and assertive display by Blues. Most of us did expect us to run away with the match. In the end, the scoreline was fair reflection of the contest, or the lack of it. If you want the story in one line – we scored 4 goals with our 60% possession and they had zero shots on target.

Chelsea pretty much started with the same team that played Citeh last weekend. That was a surprise because I thought some of them would be rested given the fact we have Man Utd visiting us this Sunday. Scolari simply did not think that way. Similarly Scolari chose not to play Franco di Santo tonight. It’s allright, there must be a reason why he is the Chelsea manager and I’m not.

I can’t help but feel we are near perfect now, in all areas. The balance seems to be there. Cole and Bosingwa are now out-and-out wing backs. Their crosses are top class and they are a very serious threat everytime they get the ball, Bosingwa in particular. Lampard and Deco seem to have gelled so well. Mikel is producing his best performances nowadays and he is raising the bar for himself with every match he plays. Joe Cole has started this season very brightly and it even looks like our patience with Malouda might pay back. Put Drogba as the lone striker, we are world beaters.

Tonight, Chelsea were completely dominant. Bordeaux simply had no chance at all, literally. They couldn’t even muster one single shot on goal. On the other hand, Chelsea almost played and created chances at will. There was lots of variety in the way Chelsea played today. We scored from a corner, we scored a header from a cross, we scored with a drilled shot from a back-heel assist and finally from a screamer attempt.

If there was one negative in today’s game, it was Deco’s performance. I thought he was quite mediocre tonight. He took too much time on the ball, misplaced passes, lost possession and even made some clumsy tackles, one of which got him a yellow card. Every time he lost the possession, his confidence was dipping and that showed in his desparation. But I guess he’ll be fine. Just an ordinary day at office, nothing more. Joe Cole again was a bit wasteful in the first half but thanks to poor defending he got another goal for himself. You can call it poor defending, when a very short Joe Cole rises above the three taller defenders around him to head the ball to the far corner. He did improve as the match went on.

Lampard has to be the man of the match. He scored a goal, setup a goal and delivered the corner for another goal. Once again, he was there everywhere. He was in the heart of every attack. He made some breathtaking passes. especially that back-heel for Malouda was sublime. Lampard has been a pleasure to watch this season. He looks so relieved, he looks so calm and composed. He seems to have that extra time on the ball that Deco did not have tonight. Lampard’s new found extra time on th ball could be down to his sharper decisions, which have improved since he signed that contract and that’s not a coincidence.

The biggest positive of the night has to be Malouda. I don’t when I said this last time – he played superbly. He was quick and intelligent and more than ever, he tried a bit harder. He thoroughly deserved a goal and I’m so happy that he scored one. He seems to be well and truly back to his better days as a left winger. Wait and see, Malouda would form a formidable partnership with Ashley Cole. What can I say about Anelka? He did score a goal and hit the woodwork with a fine shot, but I’d still say that he does not give his best. He is still lazy, slow to react and respond, his movements are not quick and sharp. Even his goal was a lucky drop at his feet after a splendid long strike from Belletti. When accurate crosses are pouring in from Bosingwa, Ashley Cole and Malouda, Anelka seems to missing from the action. Just for a moment picture Drogba as the lone striker in the box, receiving all those deadly crosses from Bosingwa and Ashley Cole. His conversion ration would be far better than Anelka who is not making the best use of the services.

Elsewhere, Roma lost their home game to CFR Cluj. That must be the upset of the night. With this Roma defeat, our progression has gotten closer. So we need to take Cluj seriously? Nah . . that was an upset, we don’t believe in upsets when it comes to Chelsea. Another set of champions league matches tomorrow night and then comes the big game on Sunday. I hope Villareal can dent their confidence a bit meanwhile. You guys might know that Chelsea’s appeal against Terry’s red card has won and hence he would play against Man Utd. And no such options for Vidic, he stays out.

I’m very thrilled and excited about the Chelsea vs Man Utd. I’ll start preparing for the match from now on. Gosh, it’s only Tuesday today, I can’t wait for the Sunday match!

Mikel MOTM to me.He was the engine in our play today.

2. bluefan #1 - 16th Sep

wery good 3 points. must say that deco wasnt good at all today. and mikel lost to many balls. anelka really should try to find the net moore. other than this we played very good. glad to se balack back. hope to se drogba at his best soon again.

Chaka: For me as well – MIKEL is MOTM. Rock-solid in defence, strong in the air as well as when intercepting a combination on the ground – that appears to be his classics for the future. Moreover, he is growing up tactically – today no mistake at all, except of one bad cross-pass in the first half. Always exactly where he had to be and did what was necessary; assessed brilliantly when to go forward, when to calm down the play by passing to a defender and when to kick the ball out of play. And he finished the job with the brilliant solo prior to the third goal.

4. cap123 - 16th Sep

we saw glimpses of mikel’s attacking prowess today! he himself and his country’s football figures all say he has a good bit of flair, i’d love, at least against lower opposition or if we’re giving one of our god’s a rest, for him to play in an AMF role. He looked strong and had a couple of runs in the vein of essien’s top performances. Hope scolari realises his potential. I also think he loses the ball a bit too much for a defensive midfielder role, but he is perhaps the worse attacker of our midfiled so i guess he must go there… but we don’t know til we give him a chance!

5. cap123 - 16th Sep

hmm… when i say he loses it a bit too much, he doesn’t normally get tackled, but there’s a few wayward balls and he lingers on the ball for longer than he should.

6. moyo - 16th Sep

MAN of the match to me too is mikel. He was absolutely brilliant. The match reminds me of the the youth championship when he was second best player to messi. I think he is finally peaking and reaching his full potentials. Lampard was great as usual. I am finally starting to think that he really deserves the salary he is earning. Malouda was just ok… (i know he scored) but he flopped in the first half. Anelka should go to the reserves and kalou should get more games. Cech wasn’t even involved today.

Was it just me or who else thinks belletti should play more games? lol.. that shot was exceptional.

7. GamingTheSystem - 16th Sep

I think one of the talking points here (that the press will most likely overlook) is the style of play in current Chelsea Football. I know Bordeaux is a much weaker team but Chelsea looked very sexy today. Especially in the 1st and last 15 mins of play. I had fun watching them and the attacking pressure of Ashley Cole and Bosingwa is very exciting. I noticed the team let off the gas a bit after the start of the 2nd half and got an ear full from Scolari. This is the exact opposite of the traditional 1-0 (hold the lead) Jose Mournino style and much more enjoyable on the eyes. After tonight’s performance I am happy to say that I am as excited about this season as I was in 03 when Bates sold the club to Roman.

8. KG - 16th Sep

Malouda was really the suprise tonight. he tried hard, ran up and down, played smart and was constantly threatening from the left hand side. i say good goal for him, but lets wait for a BPL game to see whether he can reproduce this form. if he can, i say he’s back.

9. Yousuf - 16th Sep

OH For the love of God Scolari Rotate your team and give Ivanovic a chance, otherwise some club might poach hime for cheap e.g AC milan.

10. CJ - 16yrs Blues Fan - 16th Sep

Absolutely AMAZING. This week is getting better and better… confidently hoping for another superb week comes Sunday. Just like many others….. most of us would love/die to see some form of rotation policy from Scolari, but I think the man is trying to build team confidence and stability in these early run-outs. Its sending a HUGE message to our rivals and I think it might pay off by leaving other teams play catch-up. I’m sure he’s probably planning on tinkering the team during the FA/League cup matches.
(I’m trying to play down my expectation with just a double this year, but with performance like this, I cannot stop thinking on the possibility of a quadruples…..)

11. Jo - 16th Sep

yea hope scolari give ivanovic a chance

12. Chaka - 16th Sep

@Moyo,
Yeah the shot from Belleti was exceptional. But I still would not have picked him in yesterday’s match if I were coach.Did any one notice that our three best performances so far this season have come when Mikel was in the starting eleven.Great lad.Hard to come across a player of his age[21yrs] playing such a position[the all important Maka's role] the way he does.

13. trueplatinum - 16th Sep

mikel, franchise player!
now remember the performance mikel put in against man utd in our 2-1 win last season, man utd are going to suffer on the weekend
no ronaldo, no carrick, no vidic, no neville, no hargreaves
fergie will blatantly play a wide formation to avoid the central midfield so we’re probably looking at brown, ferdinand, o’shea, evra, nani, scholes, anderson, giggs, berbatov and tevez
man utd have three coveted strikers, it will be interesting to see how we keep them at bay, but if we keep playing like we have, there is no reason why we shouldn’t get another victory with a 2 goal margin.

14. Nick - 16th Sep

Actually Ronaldo may be making an appearance this Sunday against us….but I think since we have Bosingwa (not Essien) and Cole this time around it shouldn’t be a problem wherever Fergie chooses to deploy Ronaldo to.

15. ish - 16th Sep

bordeuax were lucky not to have conceded more but i think chelsea made to many mistakes during the game and maybe should have conceded 1 goal.
Cech – He was a virtual spectator and i think during the first half he used his feet more then his hands, not really tested. 6
Bosingwa – During the first half he was man of the match, chelsea was able to provide him ALOT of space to roam, sometimes he had the entire right flank all to his own and did an amazing job harrying the defense, defensively he was sound but that was because bordeaux didnt test him. Second half he took his foot off the pedal and most of the play went towards the left flank. 8.5
Carvalho – Should have scored, not marked at all and hit the cross bar. Defensively sound, made a bad tackle or two but never tested. Made some good forward runs. 7
Terry – hould have scored, a great ball from lampard just span away from the goal. Defensively sound, controlled the back 4 well. 6.5
Ashley Cole – Linked up well with malouda, didnt attack as much as bosingwa but had more to do defensively, not a great performance but as always with cole a good performance, i swear to god he is like mr consistent or someshit. 7
Mikel – did excellently as defensive mid stopping nearly every attack before it came close to the defense but his passing was sub-par, too many times the pass did not have the correct wieght or direction and got intercepted. 7.5
Malouda – did very well in the wings and everytime i see him play i can see his potential to be great down the wings but he makes a little too many errors giving the ball away cheaply and crossing into the box while there is no one there, his link up with a.cole is improving though. Link up saw him score a goal which was nicely taken. 7.5
Lampard – did great and until he knew chelsea had it in the bag he was playing great as soon as they were up 3-0 he took his foot off the brakes. Scored 1 and assisted 2, should have scored 1 more and assisted a further 2 or 3. Man of the Match. 9
Deco – Awkward the entire time, gave the ball away cheaply, did some decent passes but had too much weight on them, a couple of bad tackles saw him get a yellow, taken off second half when chelsea started cruising. 6
J.cole – scored a goal from a header when marked by 2 defenders who were a head taller then him. Otherwise played a role more akin to second striker with bosingwa taking up the job of providing width, caused trouble with his runs but service wasnt that good, faded during second half and replaced by beletti to add more defence in the middle. 6.5
Anelka- Poor anelka only came away with a goal and in the dying seconds, a good save saved 1 shot and couldnt direct 2 or 3 towards goal, good game but needs more cutting edge to his shots, could have scored a hattrick quite easily if he was slightly more selfish and had better aim. Is finding his role in the team but maybe too late with drogba seeing full fitness. 7

SUBS:
Ballack – replaced deco and added some steel to the midfield, serviceable but still not fully match fit. Did some good passes but many times remained anonymous. 7
Beletti – scolari really likes this guy and its easy to see why, provided some cover for the defense and had an amazing long shit in dying seconds bounce of the bar allowing anelka to score. 7
Kalou – Umm didnt doo much, not too much time to assert himself into the game, didnt really provide the pace and tricks he usually does. 6

Good game but surprised by showing a full squad with manu coming up, expected di santo to come on instead of kalou but i guess scolari will blood the kid eventually.

Also shock loss of roma to cluj means cluj might be better then people expect, that or roma like many of the italian clubs are just on shit form.

Bravo Chelsea boys. And good write-up BC.

Imagine if we got a fully fit essien and drogba back? I can’t imagine any team in Europe at the moment that can touch us.

18. Den - 16th Sep

scolari still said we played shithouse and is very unhappy, good news is terrys red carl has bin overuled and hes available for man utd game.

19. CFCIR - 16th Sep

chelsea can play much better ,if anelka work harder he could do a hatrick, and mikel pay attention.
chelsea lost too many balls in the game and if we can improve this weakness ,our good game will be complete.
scolari was unhappy because potential of chelsea is very high and they didnt used it last night.
he wants more pressing and controling

20. BuildChelsea - 16th Sep

Deco gave an average performance in the match………lost possession too easily(one could have resulted in a goal had it not been for Carvalho)……but overall we created a lot of chances and put in a decent performance against a below average Bordeaux….. i was very impressed with Bosingwa ……excellent going forward , good crossing ability and on occasions got caught offside!!! ……Drogba ,if fit should start for the game against Man U ……Anelka is too unsure of himself and fails to read the game properly…Drogba on the other hand plays the lone striker role to perfection…….Belletti is fine as a substitute and Scolari is doing a brilliant job with him… Scolari was pissed because in the second half we seemed to be content with a 2-0 lead …….instead we should have kept the possession and frustrated Bordeaux even more…..Bordeaux should count themselves lucky…..If we wanted we could have humiliated them with a 6-0 or 7-0 thrashing…..

21. Nihongo Blue - 16th Sep

great win and great result.

The way diarra is playing for pompey i wish he would have stayed with us . treat to watch him play.

22. CFCIR - 16th Sep

salomon kalou speaks about his future at chelsea. he wants more chance at chelsea , and if scolari doesnt give him he will leave chelsea ofr another club(ARSENAL). he is very talented.

23. johnarejr - 16th Sep

Sorry I missed this one (a crazy little thing called “work” got in the way). More than the result, I am very excited and pleased with Scolari’s reaction to the match. According to BBC, he was very disappointed with the wasted chances and too easily giving up the ball. Phil is letting it be known that he ain’t the one to rest on his laurels and won’t let anyone else do it either! If the club can catch that kind of fire, I think Chelsea can win the quadruple, pick up the Shield, win the Club World Cup, and even play in the American Super Bowl and be champions in that form of “football” as well.

amazing game, hope we can have drogba back for the man utd game!
Lampard played amazing even after his cloase ranged miss, he bounced back and played amazing. My favourite player, is the star of chelsea!

27. NIK - 16th Sep

where the hell is kalou?

28. The kid - 16th Sep

Bravo Chelsea… you defeated a team that is 10th on the log. Well done, you are overcoming that horrible embarressing night in Moscow. You know… the night where your top striker got sent off and your captain ruined the game for you guys. Anyway I don’t like that last 3 words. JUST TO BRILLIANT… I don’t think so….

29. denver - 16th Sep

hey guys I have always said that Malouda needs more time ….and see he is starting to shine….(give him more time). Mikel was GREAT …yeah me made a few bad passes (poor weighting) but in the second half when he started to attack …. it was impressive!! he caused the Malouda goal!! I see Mikel in the similar mold as Ballack.
Let it be know that Mikel is an ATTACKING mid fielder….. and we are attempting to convert him. I hope to see Ivanovic very soon!! either in DM or RB or even CB as well as ALEX (poor guys) I hope to see a rotation in the squad for CC

@29. denver ………yes, i totally agree …..once the F.A Cup and the Carling Cup fixtures are on, we will see the likes of Paim , Di Santo and others play more regularly …….Mikel started as an AM but we managed to groom him into an excellent DM…..there have always been instances where a player starts his career in a particular position but goes on to excel in another……Mikel is one of those players………looks like Scolari has managed to motivate both Malouda and Anelka , their work rate on the pitch has certainly improved .

31. cap123 - 16th Sep

so according to goal.com, kalou is going to leave in january if he doesn’t get more games. we better start playing him then, because i for one think it would be a hell of a loss.

@ 30 BuildChelsea

I can’t believe players with such a high salary needs motivation. I think we didn’t spend our money wisely by buying Malouda and Anelka. We should have kept Robben and bought another decent forward with the Anelka money for example, Kun Aguero at Atletico Madrid.

Sorry for confusion comment number 32 is actually my comment. ‘The Kid’ is my brother using my computer. A Man Utd fan. Sorry for confusion BuildChelsea.

34. mcurto - 16th Sep

@32. The kid – Altought Robben is a damn fine young player (hes 23 or 24 but looks older) is very injury prone and so his fitness and form are never quite good.Imagine when he gets near 30.Chelsea made the right choise to sell him before he got a serious injury.

To put things in perspective: Anelka was a sensible option because he was already adapted to EPL and at the time there was an urgent need for a striker (Drogba injured) and Chelsea couldn’t afford another flop like Cheva or give time for an outsider to adjust.Hes a decent striker, altought not as good as Drogba, and can be very useful in times of need.

35. GamingTheSystem - 16th Sep

I completely agree with mcurto here – Anelka is a professional and had to know when he went to Chelsea he would be a bench player. He is a solid striker used in need only (much like my long time favorite goalie Carlo Cudicini). Carlo knows his role and is happy playing second fiddle to Cech. Anelka will have to have the same attitude now that Drogs is fit.

36. BuildChelsea - 16th Sep

@33. Pensioner………A Man U fan and a Chelsea fan, living under the same roof…….u two must be having some heated discussions during weekends isn’t it??……Robben was an awesome winger for us , i simply loved his style but he was extremely injury prone and as his age progresses it will get worse …….also i agree that Kun Aguero is simply one of the best young strikers around but we could never bring Aguero to SB with the same amount of money(£15 million) , we paid for Anelka……for Atletico Madrid , Aguero is worth 10 times that….. anyways Anelka was a Grant purchase but he does contribute with an occasional goal or two …….personally i don’t prefer Anelka but i do consider Malouda to be an excellent winger and if guided properly will certainly contribute more…..maybe now, we should avoid signing high profile players and paying insane amount of money for them and bring in genuine young talent , our squad is one of the strongest in the world and we only need to reinforce at certain positions……Under performing players have already been sold this season and thus we don’t have any unnecessary players on the bench..

37. Chaka - 16th Sep

Kalou looks more dangerous than Malouda going forward.M not too happy about all this trying to mold Anelka and Malouda bulls**t.That idea is affecting the prospect of Kalou,Santo,or Piam playing. To make matters worst an aging RB(Belletti) is even been converted to the MF so as to get more player than those young guys.Scolari has to adopt a rotational policy because I wont want to see us selling our young prospect to Arsenal.

38. bluefan #1 - 16th Sep

its funny how i said like 1 year ago that we should buy aguero and u guys wanted players like malouda. now u want aguero. its good that we sold robben, he was to weak for the PL but we diddnt get a good replacement. malouda isnt bad. next year i hope we sell malouda and anelka and get aguero, silva, di maria, david villa or benzema. if they are not playing in city.

HE IS A VERY TALENTED PLAYER AND WE MUST KEEP HIM.
IF SCLORI DEOSNT PLAY HIM ,HE WE LEAVE CHELSEA FOR BARCA OR ARSENAL.

41. BuildChelsea - 16th Sep

@38. bluefan #1 ……..No offense mate , but how are we supposed to give players like Kalou , Sinclair , Paim , Di Santo and others enough chances when we plan to buy such high profile signings???……..Aguero, Silva, Di Maria, David Villa or Benzema ,these players will never come cheap and is it worth another record transfer fee to bring them in??…..The players you mentioned are class not doubt but then wats the use of a youth academy ??…..If we want to hold on to Kalou and other young talents then we must give them some chance to play…..

@37. Chaka …….Nobody spoke about grooming Anelka and Malouda at the expense of Kalou . Wat i meant was we must get the best out of the players we have at our disposal….Kalou will definitely get a chance since this season we have a shortage of striking options…..

Chelsea have confirmed Ray Wilkins as the club’s new assistant first-team coach…..Why isn’t anyone talking about this??
Pensioner , if you are there , what do you think of this appointment??

44. Pensioner - 16th Sep

@ 43 BuildChelsea

To be honest I don’t know much about Ray Wilkins managerial career and skills, in other words what he can bring to the table at Stamford Bridge. He has played for alot of prestigous clubs like Chelsea and Man Utd and AC Milan and England so he has tons of expereince.
Anyway I thought Ten Cate was the best assistant coach in Europe.

46. BuildChelsea - 16th Sep

47. MiguelC - 16th Sep

Come on guys, theres a very long long season ahead and there will be enough chances to put the youngsters to test but has this is a fairly new setup and some new players making first team I can see why Scolari needs to consolidate the team first.Although I cant see Paim making senior team appearances in near future (is he even playing reserves?) there are plenty of others available.
Why bring more players from other leagues as it seems now Chelsea has some decent youngsters already playing in reserves?

48. Adonis - 16th Sep

I think Scolari’s played his cards brilliantly so far… Maybe with the exception of Ivanovic’s playing time. Imagine, if he’s the next Vidic, or perhaps a not-as-good-but-more-versatile defender, we must utilize him. But how can you leave the captain out, or even our best defender Carvalho… And Mikel’s cementing his place as well… And don’t even mention right-back, with Bosingwa wowing in each and every game. His time will come. He’ll get his chances and if he makes good, he might break into the first team.
But Scolari’s plan for now clearly is to open up as wide a cushion as possible… Maybe when we have a three or four point lead in the league, the rotations will come. And certainly, look for the youth in the cups. But we have to send out a message. We have to be ferocious. We have to say, “Premier League, Champions League… come one and all…we’ll take you on and demolish you. We’re the best team in Europe.” And so far, that’s exactly what we’ve done.

49. Adonis - 16th Sep

By the way, our player of the season so far is not Deco or Bosingwa, or even Lampsy. For me, he is another Portugese. It’s got to be our great rock in the back, Carvalho. He’s made Terry look average at times, and he’s playing as good as any center-back in the world. I’m loving Ricardo this year, just like last. He’s replaced Terry for me as the integral defender in the Chelsea spine of Cech-Carvalho-Essien-Lamps-Drogba.

53. cap123 - 16th Sep

ballack demolished them last season, it seems a shame not to play him from the off. Lampard’s on fire so he has to play, but it’s whether or not deco can play his socks off. If he plays he better know that he’s keeping ballack out, and rip the midfield apart. I’d like to play 3 CM’s, deco, ballack and lampard, but then again cole and bossy won’t have all the freedom that they’ve had in other games, so we’ll lack width with no wingers. Hmmmmm, i guess scolari really is going to have to earn his wages this time.

They have no natural wide defender playing on one side of the defence, with brown maybe playing centre back (or john oshea so either way its win win for drogs), and garry neville playing pants after his injury. If drogba’s got his heading head on we might get a lot of joy if malouda and joey can cross well.

55. MourofEssien - 16th Sep

Am glad for belleti. Most people on this blog wanted him off loaded but a few of us (read me and BC) kept faith in him. Am sure on the eve of the spurs match when i suggested that he be used as a defensive mid, most of you i was crazy. Am glad big phil is just as crazy as me. Bel is class especially when moving forward. He is so comfortable on the ball and what a power laden shot he has- almost as super as his compatriot in that domain. Long may big phil continue to use belleti.

56. i bleed chelsea blue - 16th Sep

Im not sure if Ballack is 100% fit after his foot injusry. If he is, after the game he had against manure last year, i say put him in. its always going to be tough and everyone will always be wondering if we are fielding our strongest 11 (especially in midfield) simply because we have so much depth. I am 110% confident in our squad every week but its jsut hard to imagine leaving players like ballack or deco or joe cole on the bench and knowing we have fielded our strongest squad. i guess thats the “problem” with having so many quality players because only 11 are going to make the starting lineup.

Also I have to agree with BuildChelsea. players like benzema and aguero are no doubt quality players, but what is the point in youth academy if we are going to keep bringing in middle-aged players that will take any chance our youngsters will have of getting playing time. maybe kalou and di santo and others have not become stars yet but from what i have seen they are well on there way to making it. i actually think di santo could become better than his compatriot aguero. di santo has the height and his finishing is already pretty good. I would hate nothing more than to see us sell our young players and bring in older players which are just immediate solutions and leave nothing for the future. youth academy is how you build a club and Chelsea’s is well on its way of being one of the best.

oh and @39…..I hope your name is of some other reference and you dont think we are the blue devils. you might want to rethink the name

kalou should have known that his playing time would be reduced this year. He only played so many games because of injuries.
Malouda is an excellent left winger. Left wingers arent that common especially orthodox ones. Malouda can cut in and cross the ball. The problem was that chelsea didnt use wingers orthodoxly, mourinho and grant prefered the ones that cut in and fed off drogba and for counter attack, both j.cole and robben are wingers that cut in.
Out of all the talented strikers in the world i would rate fabiano and benzema as the only candidates to realistically take over drogba. Solid strikers are hard to come by, thats why drogba is still so respected he is a rare breed, can hold off two defenders, has a great touch, strong shooting, strong with head and good positional sense. Their is only a handful of players that can do that.

@61….Malouda is an excellent winger?since when…..he can cut in?this is a news for me..I have always seen him running circles around himself…he is the weakest link in Chelsea attack…..and then he easily gives up possession….

I’m a huge fan of Aguero, and although I agree with all of you about using the youth as opposed to keeping the buying spree going, I don’t want us to turn into Arsenal. I loved what we did this summer, bringing in two players. Buying a player here, a player there, just one per window, as we keep our squad young, fit, and dynamic, is ideal. Hopefully Di Santo is all he’s cracked up to be, and I’ve been impressed by the glimpses I’ve seen of him, but he’s A)in a different mould than Aguero and B) not shown enough to be put in the same class as Aguero. I mean, Tevez, Messi, and Aguero can be spoken of in the same breath. They’re Argentina’s elite young trio of forwards. Can Di Santo join them? Hopefully! But let’s not start saying that he’ll be better than Aguero… The kid’s got a lot to prove.

Aguero’s not staying at Atletico all his career. He’s way too good. Let’s hope that when he moves on, he graces Stamford Bridge with his presence, because wherever he’s going, he’s going to be worth every penny of the huge fee they’ll pay for him.
