Who is Fabio Paim? A 20-year old Portuguese winger from Sporting Lisbon. He is one of the million youngsters being dubbed as the next Ronaldinho. I mean, I gather he is really good. Of course you know why am I talking about him. Rumour has it that we have taken him on a 1 year loan with an option of buying him at the end of the loan. This Fabio guy is supposed to be a winger in the Quaresma mould with quick and spectacular dribbling skills, great shooting and a great vision for the game. Excited, aren’t you? Now is the part that would bring you down back to earth.

If he was so good he must have been in the first team of Sporting Lisbon. But he wasn’t. He was on loan to three clubs in the last season. Very strange treatment for a next Ronaldinho. If he was so good, Sporting should have sold him to us for a some crazy money. They have only loaned him to us. May be the end of year option could be a heavy one. Not sure about that.

I’m not too particular about him being the next great thing. As long as he is a good young player, I’m fine. He is from Portugal and Scolari knows a thing or two about Portugal. The one thing you need to remember is that Fabio seems to have had some behavioural issues. Never mind, Scolari would be more than what we need to handle him. Getting Fabio must have been his choice or at least he must have had a say there. By the way, if you think Fabio is an alternative for Robinho, read on.

The usual suspects carry this report that Kenyon is in Madrid to complete the formalities around the Robinho signing. This comes after Madrid ruled out any move and after Robinho’s agent said that the deal is broken. Seeing that Scolari likes to play 4-3-3, Robinho now looks like a fantastic option on the right. SWP is anyway due a move either through a sale or a loan. I hope we come to an end with the Robinho thing. I now understand how difficult it must have been for the Man Utd fans to have gone through the bore of Ronaldo for about three months. Robinho story must stop now, preferably in our favour. At least the club website should confirm the loan move of Fabio Paim. I’ll wait.

Staying on with Fabio, England drew with Czech Republic 2-2 thanks to a clumsy last minute goal from Joe Cole. Don’t be deceived by the scoreline 2-2. It was an awfully boring match, mostly because of England. Capello has been subjected to a lot of flak after this performance and rightly so. I don’t mind if they don’t win these friendlies but England didn’t even get the basics right. This was the first time I watched England after Capello took over. I should tell you, nothing has changed. In the last quarter of an hour, I was hoping that Czech wins and creates a furore back in England. Luckily for Capello, Joe Cole slipped one in and the post-match impact was not as severe as it should have been.

There is news that Shevchenko is all set to move to Milan this week. I love Shevchenko. I would love to see Shevchenko as the star striker in Chelsea. He did decently well. He had a difficult first season but I thought he was showing signs of improvement in his second season. His injuries and lack of opportunities did not really him in showing his improvement. 22 goals in 75 matches is never going to be sufficient for a legend like Shevchenko and the hefty price tag that he came with. I don’t want Shevchenko to be in the bench with the like of Di Santo, Kalou etc. Sheva is a legend and if he is not coming good for us, it’s quite right to let him leave where he wants to go. That’s the right kind of respect we can give this man. Roman is friends with Sheva and I guess that’s why he seems to allow a U-turn. I’m keen to know how Milan fans would react to this news. They begged him to stay but he moved on. I’ve then seen a lot of Milan fans calling him a ‘traitor’. Will they accept him and love him like they used to?

With Pizarro gone and Sheva all set to leave, we get this news that Drogba would be out until October. That’s what the Ivory Coast coach says. If that’s true, what do we do from now until October. I know we scored four without Drogba but ever week we can’t play Portsmouth at home. At least, Kalou is back from Olympics. He would available for selection. Then there’s Di Santo. Then there’s Scott Sinclair. Worrisome? To say that Chelsea attack would depend only on Anelka and Kalou, is for me a bit worrisome. Should we buy a striker? At least a stop gap type?

Where will Chelsea end up this season?
