I’m happy about one side of the transfer activity this season. For every single Chelsea player that I want to get rid off, there is some attempt by the club to do the same. All the ususal suspects – SWP, Pizarro, Tal Ben Haim, Sidwell etc have all been either disposed off or surely all set to get disposed off. With these players, we had about half a dozen players in the squad who would not contribute much to the squad or in the match but still occupy the numbers. I think, this is exactly where the youngsters should step in. Any 20-year old striker would not have done any worse than Pizarro. Sidwell’s contribution or Tal Ben Haim’s presence last season is highly achievable even by a Chelsea youth team or reserve team. So, we should be looking at bright youngsters for the replacement of these outgoing players.
We have Obi Mikel in the midfield. We have our goal machine (!) Franco Di Santo up front. I’m sure we signed Gael Kakuta and he is playing for the reserves/youth. Chelsea seems to be checking out on few others like the Croat Kalinic.
I’m completely in favour of signing Tiger but I’ll tell you once again, Scolari needs to conclude his system. As it is Joe Cole must be wondering where he would fit in the first team. Malouda should feel lucky whenever he starts. These guys won’t get a sniff of the pitch unless there are injuries or such things.
Some of you also want Huntelaar. I’m kinda neutral about him now. We already have Kalou, who had a very good last season. I won’t be too excited about the goal poachers from the Dutch league. The quality of defence in the Dutch league is many many levels below what you see in the English league. Kalou was a star in eredivisie but it has taken 2 seasons and he is still not a regular first teamer. Huntelaar could be a natural striker but he would come to a new league (in every sense) with heavy expectations. I guess he is about 25 which means he won’t qualify for the term ‘young striker’.
If we are in the market for a striker, I don’t think we should look beyond Samuel Eto. He is a striker that I always admire. He can make a great partner for Drogba. Teams would fear the attack force of Eto and Drogba. Drogba himself requires double marking and Eto is of the same class. The Drogba-Eto duo would create a lot of space for our dangerous attacking midfielders to penetrate. Eto could very well be available for less than £20m. Let’s buy Eto and I won’t ask for anything more in this transfer window. Let’s take this poll now. I’ll mail the results to Peter Kenyon (you believe it).

Hey BC……..nicely put………Samuel Eto should be brought to Chelsea….so should Schweinsteiger…….as it is Eto is desperate to leave barca and i wouldn’t mind if we secure both transfers at the last minute ……both have sheer class and wouldn’t take much time to adjust to the EPL……I would certainly like to see how other teams tackle the strike force of Drogba and Eto….

if we keep drogba i don’t think we need eto’o, i think he would be a good addition to our side but having di santo and kalou there instead would be no bad thing, so he’s not vital imo.
i’ve been a longtime fan of schweinsteiger and think he would slide straight into the epl like he’d been there his whole life. He 100% has the strength and energy to fit into the most demanding league in the world, but also has flair and pace, i think he is very much a chelsea like player.
So both if drogba goes, only bastien if drogba stays!

most of you want balack in the starting 11. if i was coaching he would start on the bench allmost every time. he is the kind of player that can come in to a game and change the picture. he is really good but he is over 30. the best player to have on the bench and make him come and change games as the coach wants him to.
@BC must only buy a striker if Drogba leaves…. you men seem to be forgeting about Anelka….. and that Drogba-Anelka Partnership we talking about so much…. Ankelka can still score goals…. Et’o has a temperment problem. Drogba is a great, great player but he, too, is tempermental. Don’t know if they can play together. At any rate I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Scolari is interested in signing Et’o or Schweinsteiger. If it came down to one or the other I would go for Et’o. He is quite simply a better player than Schweinsteiger playing at a better club.
the daily star (i know, i know) said that scolari was very interested in signing bastien, not the best source but schweinsteiger has 100% said he wanted to come to england, so, he’s there for the taking if scolari ever stops chasing robinho.
hey guys chelsea does not need to sign anyone else, as long as Lampard and DD stays, there is no need to bring the entire football players in the planet to play 4 CFC. Come on eguiys there is not better buy than Scollari, ok!!!.
If with a plonker of a manager last season we reached the CL final, albeit with more luck than can be imaginable, this year with the already signings it should be easier. However I dont think CFC will do that fantastic this season, only and only because the players will need to absorve Scollari’s tactics, and lets face it 9-1 is a very different system to what CFC used to play.
All this crap that Scollari is very interested in signing this guy anf that guy is all crap, Scollari knows that if he doesnt change much he will be still fighting for the tiitle and the CL, the man is a brilliant manager and motivator, not period, full stop.

sometimes fans over here amaze me…do they really understand football or just comment for its sake…one says we have a strong midfield…one says Eto is better than Schweinsteiger ….in which footballing sense can both be compared…Eto is a striker who possesses skills also unlike Drogba who relies mainly on power while German is more of a attacking midfielder who can also play on flank…regarding our striker problem, if Drogba leaves(which I really want to happen) then we must throw sink for Eto because a striker like him is one of the piece we are missing in our search of beautiful football…he also very good physically and wouldn’t be browbeaten by defenders in EPL…Torres was my first choice always but Roman seems to be surrounded by utter fools and now he was ready to pay just double the amount to land him….let bygones be bygones…if Drogba stays I don’t have much hope of good football from Chelsea though he sometimes surprises me like he did in EPL game against ManU at Bridge….
coming to midfield,I am disappointed with business so far…we were already having Lampard and Ballack in our ranks..these players may be good but they are what many call of languid style(though I don’t rate both of them,at least for EPL)…and then we added another 30 year old,who is really really creative but again not that fast….I would had been happiest on Lampard’s departure as Deco is easily much better than him….Essien is sort of player who does dirty work and thus allows others to do creative stuff…an ideal midfield for Chelsea would had been Essien+two creative fast midefielders in mould of Kaka/Auguero+Mikel…a midfielder like Kaka or Auguero can play just behind main striker….
flanks also need improvement…Malouda was as uneffective as anything….he needs to be replaced asap….

Well i know my suggestions on how to build chelsea will add little or nothing to what Peter Kenyon, Scolari or Abramovic thinks, but this is it anyway – I think CFC needs to sell SWP, TBH, Pizarro, Sheva, Sidwell, Belletti, and Anelka, keep Malouda because he is the only left footed attacker we have and also Ferreira. Then CFC will have to sign Robinho, Eto’0, Shweinsteiger and Aguero. And also give Ivanovic, Di-Santo, Mikel and Alex a chance to play. Drogba and Lamps must stay if CFC is to achieve anything meaningful next season. And with a super, world class coach like SCOLARI who said he wants to trim the team to 25 players, CFC will not have much problems with a squad like this:-

Fantastic performance all round. The opposition wasn’t good but over looking that it was a great gme. Chelsea are looking sexy, great passing and movement, wat illcall slick touch and move. Deco keeps impressing he is really a good aquisition, essien was fantastic as well. Nicolas Anelka was good as well 2 assists and one good goal. The most interestin thing i am looking towards is the duel between essien and mikel for holding midfield, by the way they both played it perfectly today, though for mikel just shaded it with some excellent distribution. Di santo was go as well and b4 i 4get j.cole too was good. Looking towards the next match.
Hmm looks like scolari doesn’t see di santo as quite satisfactory just yet!

anelka was too many times offside… kalou wasted a lot but both were ok.
but most things were positive.. malouda played well but cant shoot on goal.. j cole was awesome as soon as introduced.. lampard as good as ever.. deco amazing ball control he showed… essien was at his best… overall chelsea was a gear up.
in the match scolari in 2nd half played with only 3 defenders.. and even then carvalio was playing almost as forward… i think were in for a treat this season atleast againt the low division teams.
its still pre season and i think players are doing everything to convince the manager for a place in side.. hard job to make a 11 if all are fit.. esp in midfield. i think again mikel is gonna suffer and essien is gonna play as CDM .
Really good match, as for di santo he is almost there but not quite, maybe last few minutes of some matches, as for midfield I agree that that will be the hardest to pick but dont think mikel will suffer though, im guessing he’ll play 4 out of five of them- deco lamps essien and mikel, but i may be wrong, for me mikel was awesome today along with deco lamps anelka and essien. Joe was fabulous when he came on 2 good goals. Chelsea this season promises to be ‘out of this planet’ lol

I dont under stand why scolari said Di Santo is for the future….. the future is now…. hopefully he will be given runs but not discarded… ! he can play roles in CC and FA cup and a few EPL weak teams.
di santo is for the future. wow he can score agianst chinese teams but can you se him score against liverpool or man utd. no. he is good but still have allot to work with
guys, the team is just fine as it is. Great if Robinho makes it over but for me, we are just fine. Who would I offload? definitely not Anelka and belleti. SWP, TBH, Pizza sure cos I do not see how they can really have lots of matches. But honestly, I cannot understand why anyone will want to get rid of anelka. The guy is not just about goals- he is a complete player. Yes he did not set ablaze the bridge in his first half season- neither did Ballack or even DD. I remember us clamouring for a better striker after DD’s first season cos we felt his ball control was terrible and he was scoring to few goals.
Anelka is super- all he needs is more playing time and not those silly five to ten minutes, cowardly and clueless grant was giving hin last season. To get the best out of Anelka the team must play with two strikers and discard that funny 4-5-1 formation Grant was relying on so much.
Scolari should encourage the rotation of the following two striking pairs- DD plus Kalou, Nico plus Sheva.
