Everton vs Chelsea | 17-Apr-08 @ 20:00 UK

Let’s beat Everton. Let’s see Man Utd getting beaten by Rovers. Let’s beat Man Utd at SB. Job done. As a first step, let’s beat Everton at Goodison park. I expect Grant to choose a media-friendly full strength team to show that he still believes that the title can be won. Well, we can still win the title. Read the first line again.

We will be missing Drogba and Lampard. I guess Grant will play 4-3-3. The team could be Anelka, Kalou, Joe Cole, Ballack, Mikel, Essien, Belletti, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole and Cech. I’m very very confident that this will be the team that plays tomorrow.

Grant says he will keep fighting until it’s over:

I will not give up until it is over and we will keep fighting - in football anything can happen. But first we need to win, it’s an important game and then we’ll think about other things. It’s very difficult to play at Goodison Park, they are a good team and it’s never easy to play them.

I completely agree. It’s not over until it’s over. He says it’s not easy to play Everton. If you notice, he says this line before every single match against any opposition be it Derby or Sunderland or Wigan or Everton, he says it for every single team. It’s ok, that’s harmless anyway!

For Everton Arteta and Osman are missing. Very key players for Everton. We too are missing Drogba and Lampard but we got Anelka and Ballack, Everton can’t replace Arteta that easily. Moyes has kind of accepted that they won’t make it to the fourth place. Everton are just 5 points short of Liverpool. They have as much chance to overtake Liverpool as we have to overtake Man Utd.

Ex-Chelsea player Pat Nevin, who writes for the official Chelsea website every week has now spoken about Avram Grant. This time it’s not those diplomatic lines that get puclished in the official website.

I’m speaking as someone who just wants the best for the club. I don’t have the ear of chairman Bruce Buck or owner Roman Abramovich. But I would not be devastated or all that surprised if Frank Rijkaard turns up as the Chelsea manager next year.

I write for the Chelsea website every Tuesday and usually ask a little question at the end. Usually, I get a couple of hundred emails per week. But, oh dear, my emails went into meltdown because the only way you can contact the club is through my email address. I’ve got over 1000 emails sitting there and they are not answers to the question. Most seem to think he [Grant] has a problem and that is the important games, yet those games have come against lesser clubs.

They lost a cup final to Spurs when Chelsea basically did not turn up and they lost to Barnsley when the FA Cup was wide open for them. Then, of course, they lost a late equaliser to a Wigan side that were waiting to get hammered. He had left out Drogba and left out Ricardo Carvalho, which was an amazing decision. And, most important of all, he left out Joe Cole for the first half and played Florent Malouda, who was absolutely hopeless. He has only lost three games all season in the league and could still win the Champions League. And can you sack a manager who has just won the Champions League?

The club should certainly take note of Pat Nevin’s polite comments. This man says that he receives thousands of emails every week from fans that are unhappy about Grant. And then we have Grant talking to press that there is a small minority of Chelsea fans who are disappointed. What a joke?!

Lots of rumours about mass exodus, 100 million budget, Kaka, Messi, van der Vaart, Ribery etc but that’s for another day. Everton have won just one out of the last five matches and that one was against Derby. Chelsea to win 2-0.

P.S: Have you got your own GRAVATAR already?

RA should invest in the youth team. They are our future . There are some good prospects with Di Santos, Kakuta etc.

Scott Sinclair was loaned out , probably 10 first team starts would also do him good , which is not difficult if you play him in Carling Cup & FA cup initial rounds and possibily the relegation team at home.

Hope We can get Lulinha also .

Epl title race is still not finished, because if we beat Everton today, then MANU have to beat Blackburn, also
ManU will be resting key player’s for champion’s league next week, There is chance for blackburn to defeat Manu.Alex Ferguson is over confident that Manu already won the EPL,but after blackburn match, chelsea will be in the driving Seat.

PLZ give Sheva a chance today,Sheva and Ballack are good combination(like lamps and drogba). We should go for 4-3-3 , because avram donot know any other formation. We have a clear chance to win today becuase Everton are without many key player’s.

Formation: 4-3-3

—————-Cech——————

Belletti—–J.T–Alex———–Bridge

—-Essien—-Mikel—-Ballack———

—-Joe Cole—Sheva—–Kalou———

Result 3-1

Goals -(Sheva, ballack,John Terry ) && yakubu will score at injury time just like Wigan Match ..

@Arun

I dont think Sheva will start. Anelka will be starting alongside JC and Kalou and I guess Toad is gonna play Maka ahead of Mikel.

Bench: Hilario, Sheva, SWP, Mikel,A.Cole

If no goals scored for 60 min, bring on Sheva for Maka and switch to 4-4-2. See its straight forward, but Toad is so stupid to do the subs.

If we dont want man utd to celebrate title triumph at Stanford Bridge we have to win this as well as draw or win against man utd. Otherwise get prepared for humilating drama at stanford bridge

Agree with the starting line-up by BlueChampion.

In addition, although I do not like it in general, in this particular match I would prefer 4-5-1 formation. Everton plays the same and with the “pace” of some of our midfielders, we need 5 men in the middle to get the upper hand. There is no reason for playing a long-ball strategy that did a brilliant job in Arsenal; Everton has a good couple of central defenders, both Yobo and Lescott are solid in the air and with Anelka (and Sheva or Kalou) in front it would be of no use at all.

On the other hand, I believe a sharp-wing strategy today - Phil Neville is not the youngest anymore and I believe JC or Kalou can beat him. With solid midfield, accurate first-time passing to the wingers and no mistakes at the back, we can beat them.
