I was thinking about this today. We are in contention for only two trophies which happen to the the biggest prizes of the season. Realistically, we can win both. The probability may not be high but it is certainly possible to win the league title and champions league. Do we deserve these trophies this season?
As far as the league is concerned Man Utd have been the best team by a country mile. The remaining 4 matches would decide whether they would be the champions or allow Chelsea to hijack them. Irrespective of what happens in the remaining matches, I cannot say that we deserve this title fully. You can say that the table won’t lie, normally it won’t. It was the same last season. We were chasing Man Utd till the last week but even then we didn’t deserve to win the title, we were a good runner-up at best. Every season, the team who play like champions have become champions. This season too, it has been Man Utd. Again, we are playing the role of a determined runner-up who gives a run for the champion’s money.
In champions league, it is different. All the semi finalists have played well enough to deserve the trophy. After all, all these teams have played only 10 matches so far. That’s all they had to do to reach the semi finals.That’s exactly why in my books, I’d rate the league title much higher than the champions league. Generally, you’d have too many favourites for the champions league and it might so happen that a team whom you may deserve the champions league trophy but may not deserve the tag ‘European Champions’ might go on to win it. Porto in 03-04 and Liverpool in 04-05 springs to mind off recent seasons. Arsenal almost got into this list and were toppled by a late charge by deserving Barca.
You can shoot me for saying this. I think we do not deserve the league title this season but we certainly deserve to win the champions league. Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to see us winning both despite what I think about how much we deserve them. What do you think?

Hello Everyone! I’m a Chelsea fan from Poland and I really appreciate this Blog. Good work BC, really grat stuff! Back to the topic: do we deserve any trophies this season? I think so, but it shouldn’t be the most prestigious ones. IMHO these should be FA Cup or/and Carling Cup but we didn’t achieve them. I’d love to see us winning both Premier League and Champions League but I can’t imagine that happen. Not this season, not with that kind of menager. I would like to see us winning Champions League but without Premier League and with Avram Grant in charge it won’t taste so good, will it?

For the sake of the players who have gone through this massive change of management and still played like champions, they deserve something. Think about it. Could you imagine the chaos at Man U if Ferguson was sacked and replaced with an American who’s only claim to fame was winning two MLS Cups? Ronaldo would be acting like Drogba. Fans would burn US flags in front of Busby’s statue. Grant is not the answer to Mourinho. But, the team has made it thus far in spite of him. So, may Chelsea get something in the trophy case.

Thanks for being honest…………..i won’t mind our team doing a double but man utd just like last season desrve to win league though i won’t mind manure’s crying at the end of season.
It looks like the premier league is Man U . Owen H free kick was stunning. Champions League could be a different story.
Just wondering the players they signed last summer – Nani, Anderson, Owen H & Tevez and Us – Florent Maluda, Pizzario, sidewel, ten ben haim.
I think Chelsea has the chance to win both and maybe we are not as “strong” as Manchester but at this moment everything can change… although i would like the team to win both.. I think CL is way more important and i would like them too win in more than the league.
I would be very happy to see us winning a Premier League this season; it would be a wonderful finish of our comeback from the darkness and mid-table position during the first months of the competition.
However, I don’t think we deserve to win Champions League; we should not even talk about it after beating Olympiakos and Fenerbahce, while the whole lot of strongest opponents battled against each other. If we pass Liverpool, I will maybe change my mind.
So, let’s go for the Premier League title; if we do this, it would be a wonderful story about a team that felt down and was able to get up again. And it would be a great satisfaction for AG as well. But he has to make it done first :)

EPL..whoever wins Deserves to win bcos it was won over 38 games
UCL..we have done pretty well so far..nothing to say we dont deserve it.

EPL:No,we don’t as Manures are playing way better than us ever since last season…injuries,management problems etc can be counted but still they are better than us without an iota of doubt.
CL:Yes because we are far better than Pool and same as Manure/Barca…

Issue is that whether we will be able to get back EPL title if Manures retain their players…I think it would be very very difficult no matter who we buy or who manages us…we need to rebuilt our midfield and attack both….

EPL no dopubt that ManU and for thsat matter Arsenal,(even with the limited squad they have)
outplayed chelsea all season, ManU right now are defenitely the best team in EPL.
Champions league?? who have we played that could be a match to our team? NO ONE, schalkes, olympiakos, feners etc,
all teams far inferior in quality and quantity, even so the players’ professionalism and mental attitude managed to reach the semi final, with lots and lots of luck must be said, recalling the fener match, a better team in the second half would have sent us packing.
Now we play Liver, a club in turmoil with the directors fighting like cowboys, a second leg in SB, well luck continues, but I think if liver players play like they did yesterday I can see us struggling, no doubt of all the semis between these 2 teams, this one is the easiest chelsea has it, only because the 2nd leg is played in SB, wether you like it or not it is an advantage to know what to do in order to qualify.
With the luck that AG has I wouldnt be surprised if they reach the final.
About ManU v Barca I have a feeling that Barca is going to surprise ManU.
Don’t get me wrong I would like a troffie in the bag, but not because we deserve or we play “sexy attacking football”, but with another dose of AG’s LUCK maybe the players will pull one out of the bag.

After Wigan I’ve changed my mind… We deserve nothing… Oh after consideration, one thing we deserve – sack Grant! Immediately!
The players deserve a trophy this season, but Grant doesn’t.
I’m not really a ?F? fan. Just wanted to share some thoughts with you guys. And I don’t come here to bully you, these are my true feelings.
1) What is CFC for you?
As far as I can see you’ve got only the symbols left (the name, the colour and the stadium) which is probably a lot, but not enough, if you ask me.
Foreign owner, foreign players, foreign coaches…,
How can you identify yourself with Chelsea these days? I don’t think I would have managed to do this.
Mind you, one can say the same about almost every major FC these days.

You’ve got incredibly big money, but there is no spirit.
You’ve got the stars (not used here as a foul word), but there is no inspiration. Chelsea game is a bore and it’s been a bore most of the time under JM no matter how charismatic and professional the guy is.
You’ve got the titles (probably not everything you wanted, still…), but there is no joy.
Mind you, one can say the same about almost every major FC these days.
3) What do you want?
The titles or the spirit, inspiration and joy of the game? The squad of unattached stars (and I don’t question the professionalism and personal qualities of any one of them, each of them taken separately), hastily put together on money or the talent attracted by the spirit and polished and grown through hard work to become a real team?
What gives you more joy: present Chelsea winning Champions league or old Chelsea winning a match?
I love the game and I choose the joy of the game over titles. The titles come as a nice bonus for a great game.
IMHO, too many people and too much money are chasing titles and ego these days killing the Game.
It looks like it’s very difficult to bring the big money and ego and get everything: the titles, spirit, inspiration and joy of the game.
It seems to me that you have gratefully accepted the money (not a judgement). You are now living with everything it brings.
Zhenya – if you were at the last couple of games alone (Manc and Scum at the bridge) you would know if we had any spirit. The atmosphere was absolutely tremendous, there was plenty of excitement and quality football, and it was frigging great to be a CFC fan.
I’d like to say it’s ‘fair comment’ but sorry, there is spirit within these players.
That kind of bond is only strengthened when teams are challenging for something meaningful, it draws out the best (and worst) in them so we see how they truly feel.
RATHER THAN if the team was just a mid-table club with players coming here, playing 90 mins each week, picking up their wages and heading off again.
This CFC team is full of Champions, leaders, winners, top profesionals, who care about more than just money. Sure money is a huge part of modern day football, but does thsat mean the top people of the footballing profession no longer have ambition and dreams?
Course not, and that is what we have hear, TOP profesionals with ambitions and dreams and the drive to win. And all I can say is, it makes watching Chelsea as exciting as it can get.
