A ‘big match’ this one and I hope AG will agree. Reason one is the impact the result might have on Chelsea’s title race. Reason two is the impact of the result on the team morale and confidence. Reason three is the home league record at stake. If you remember, the last home league loss in Feb 2004 was against this very opposition but I would go for a 1-0 home win this time.

I think that we have the capacity to win on Sunday but probably won’t. If Chelsea do not score the first 2 goals or concede a goal or have to change tactics for any other reason, we are doomed, Grant will surely messup. N Wenger is by far a better manager and tactician than Grant. In those circumstances I foresee a 1-1 draw. Atleast we might keep our home record.
Optimistically, I wish chelsea could win, but if anyone has seen the match against Spurs you would soon realize that the weak link in the team was Ashley Cole. Aaron Lennon was running rampage on the left flank and made cole look quite foolish. We had the lead and possession and were playing like we were down by some 2 or 3 goals. I want us to loose with Arsenal and be out of the title race , champions league looks doubtful too. When this happens the manager will be removed and then there would be players coming in summer only if there is a new manager. I lost hope on the title and I hope someone puts some sense into AG coz his tactics and substitutions sucked.
Suppose chelsea looses and liverpool wins then there would be competition for the third spot and everton just behind liverpool I just hope chelsea finishes off in the top four.
I WANT US TO WIN…… AT ANY COST…. And I want us to win in a way which will show the world that the entire effort was by the players and the Great Manager had no hand in it. Let him go praising himself for it… I don’t care.
Speaking, realistically though…lol. I think we can win with a single goal margin. I feel it won’t be raining goals like the previous match but 1-0 or 2-1 could be the scoreline, with the Arsenal goal coming in very late in the match after chelsea are already 2 up. Well… why I am predicting this? Looking at the previous results which Chelsea has produced after a bad performance… I can say that the players get more motivated after they let down the expectations…. which they have already done against Spurs (twice to be on record).
I have a feeling Terry will be thundering in this match and so will our defence including Asley Cole. This won’t allow much of a chance to FibreGlass & Co. On the other hand if we start with Ballack, Joe, Essein and Maka / Lamps in midfield we can put pressure on Arsenal from very beginning. Again I predict Joe to score a goal probably the first one.
More than this, the home record which we have at Bridge is enough to motivate the players to do exceptional…… we don’t need no bullshitting managers….. We will show Arsenal what we are made of at Bridge.
And yes…. I read an article on Reuters, that Zola is very much interested in having one more stint at Chelsea.. probably as a manager. Not a bad option I feel. With the quality of players that we have and the little experience of Zola as an Under-21 national Italian Coach may be helpful. He surely reads the game well and is very well aware of the expectations and kind of football we have in EPL.
What do you guys think?
whiner is not a good tactician for sure!!! he may be a good scout.. a coach may be but not atleast a tactician.
adebayours hair have agian grown( they were having a slump since his hair cut) ;) thats the only worring point else we will crush them ON THE ROCKS!!
cheers
Simple: If we beat Arsenal and Man Utd we are first in the league!!!!!!!
I think thats the message Grant will be passing to the players. I want to see players playing every ball as if their lives depended on it.
if not for the players, i doubt if AG can muster any motivation for a team. its so scandalous our set piece defending. good we don’t play liverpool again. anyway, hope we win if AG gets his team selection, formation and subs right
Daily Telegraph: “Avram Grant continues to fluff his lines on the big stage. The Chelsea coach’s negative substitution of an attacker, Salomon Kalou, for a centre-half, Alex, invited Spurs on, setting up a thrilling climax in which Robbie Keane struck a marvellous equaliser which will have been celebrated as wildly by followers of Arsenal and Manchester United as by the Tottenham faithful.”
i will go for a 4-3-3.

Arsey will be dangerous for us cos they coming from a series of 4 draws.
Liverfool not so much of a danger for Manure.
AG ! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee get it right this time .
You gotta nearly full squad.
You are playing at home.
The opposition isn’t playing/ scoring that much.
Our guys should be worked up/ incensed with the last 4-4 draw.
For the love of God and wife ! Win AG Win !
I may not like you but I want you to win !
Guys, check out this link and see what Drogba and the papers think of grant. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2008/03/21/ufnchelsea121.xml

This is a tough decision for AG: whether to chose essien or ballack///or whether to chose anelka or drogba
I would definetly want cole and kalou to play!!
a hard 1-0 win for the blues
Draw is not an option for both the teams in the game so it should be a cracker of a game.
Arsenal is well rested as they didnt had to play mid week and we have played i think 4 matches in 12 days!! this being the 5th in 16 days.. tough on players such a joe cole who have been running hard ever since.this might tempt grant to play SWP and use joe cole as a sub in 2nd half. ballack is well rested and lampard, drogba, essien can play any number of matches at stretches.
back 4 should not change but we might see alex for riccy to counter long balls to adebayour. cech should start if fit.
Is clichy playing? he along with sagna produce all the crosses so we can hit them on the counter.
And bridge will welcome back gallas .. i dont know how the reception is gonna be i hope not as ashley received at emirates. Would love to see gallas cry again after loosing. moron!!
@4…I don’t think Zola can bring us titles because such coaches have a tendency to concentrate in area they were famous for…Zola was an entertainer and he will be more concerned about attacking display and which will cost us in defense…Mourinho lacked in attack, Zola will lack in defense…we need to develop a team which is fabulous both in attack and defense la ManU…though it pains to say but they are the benchmark in EPL…
have to see a wayne bridge at LB tommorow. have to see a ballack and lampard in the midfield, and joe cole MUST NOT BE SUBBED

I really hope that we can take revenge fr the 0-1 loss at the Emirates this time at Fortress Bridge ! But from what happened last week, my hopes, as any other optimistic fans hopes, are beginning to crumble. I mean, 3-1 down, you really expect a win frm a side like Chelsea, altho none of the guys deserved to be blamed, and if any1, it shud be AG ! I mean, we wudve actually lost had it not been fr Cudicini’s heroics and some bad luck fr Berbatov.
Having said tht, i think Cudicini will be good enough to keep agnst Arse (tht is, if Cech isnt ready yet). I’d say we might win abt 1-0 or 2-0 or evn 2-1 and move closer to Manure at the top of table…
Oh and i just hope AG uses his brains and does NOT get J.Cole off this time !
@17….none of the guys deserved to be blamed…
r u serious….Terry was totally responsible for Berbatov’s goal….Huddlestone was roaming free as if he was in his house’s backyard for 3rd goal even when most of Chelsea players were in box…surely Grant is short of tactical acumen needed for this level but please be open minded in ur comments…our defense played like amateurs that day…Grant was equally faulty in his substitutions…
*Joe Cole should only be subbed if his right leg is clearly detatched from his body!
*Anelka and Drogba should start up front and prove they can score together
*A loss today will all but end Chelsea’s run at the league and kill confidence for the CL
*A win would be great. But Man U will not loose to Anfield.
*Anything less than a win and even Gooner fans will chant “JOSE MOURINHO”
Read this morning in Sports Illustrated online that Ruud Giullt was criticizing Chelsea’s “boring” style under JM and saying that was the cause of him being fired. One day, this team will play “sexy” and win silverware. But, as for this season, I sure do miss the boredom!
Hi guys,
Hope we win tomorrow to keep our slim chance of EPL alive.I wish OWN GOAL Gallas gets booed off the park tomorrow.
i just wish gallas does scores an own goal!!!
win at all costs is imperative.
joe cole, lampard, essien and ballack should play in the midfield.
with anelka and drogba up front.
belletti at right back for that extra attacking option.
surprised to see terry at fault for one spurs goal.
AG needs to get his formation and tactics right because we have the ability and the home support to win this game!!
My team for Chelsea-Arse Anal Grand Slam Sunday London Derby:
CECH
BELLETTI-JT(c)-RICCY-ASHLEY
MAKA
LAMPS-ESSI
JOEY-DROGS-KALOU
(4-1-4-1)
Subs: BALLACK (ESSI) after 70 mins. If we are behind- NICO (MAKA)& SWP (BELLETTI).If we are ahead: OBI (KALOU) & FERREIRA (BELLETTI).
Prediction: CHELSEA 2-1 ARSENAL
(DROGS, NICO)
My first Chelsea-Arsenal Derby @ the Bridge! Hope we’ll THRASH ‘em! I’ll be really pleased if Ashley has a good game – he has come for far too much criticism in the last month or so, although is by a mile the best LB in the Primership, and probably the world.
C’mon you Chels!
its foot+ball, not air+ball@14,
manure famous in defense and attack? How much of that have we seen in recent seasons, till our injury crisis aided them to win the EPL last year? Where were those qualities when they were languishing first behind arse and then later behind us?
just noticed barcelona knocked off by valencia in cup semifinal…. hmmmmmmmmmm
Only way to beat Arsen and the EPL.
………….Check……………
Fer/Bel…..Carv/Alex….Tery……AC
……… Maka/Essien…………
Essien/balak…………Lampa
JC…….Anelka………..Kalu..
*Maka start for 60 minutes.
Most of you fail to recongnise the change in his performaence after 60 minute of play. This goes for AG as well.It was the main reason Toten. dominated in midfield towards the end of the game and had a go at our defence.
AG failed to see it and made a fulish change by introducing Alex.
*Essien open .
After 60 minute he takes Makas position and Balak comes on.
We win or lose on the 3 players in midfield. That is our weakest link.
* I would consider Alex instead of Rici due to his body strength and
hight.
*Drogba should not be even on the bench.Waste of space and air.
We should let the skill palyers working together more often if we want to have any chance.
JC ,Anelka and Kalu can support midfield if the need arises.
And please no Mikel .He was good maybe for JM ,but not for CFC.He makes fulish moves ,is not accurate and makes too many bad fouls which are costly.
@24….last season and this season also they have conceded less than us…and of course scored way more than us….if these 2 factors are not the way to measure then what else can be….get rid of ur blue tinted glasses….Manure is the benchmark for EPL….

In response to Sacha, even if we do win the rest of our games including United and Arsenal, the title is no longer in our hands. That was before the Spurs debacle.
We are dependannt upon other results now, especially the two other contenders’ results against Liverpool.
We have the capacity to win if Grant plays it straight and does not do a Tinkerman routine of his own on us.
During big games he seems to start messing around with things either way before a match thereby shooting us in the foot way before we get on the pitch OR he does it during the game with strange subs which play into the oppositions hands ultimately.
I think a win for us by either one goal or may be 2 at a stretch.
This could be a bad tempered game!
@29
Last season Manchester United CONCEDED MORE GOALS THAN CHELSEA
SCORED MORE than Chelsea and CONCEDED MORE than Chelsea
great post BC. this part of our post “Play like your life depends on this match”, no one has seen chelsea play like this since september
Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows:
23 Carlo Cudicini
5 Michael Essien
6 Ricardo Carvalho
26 John Terry (c)
3 Ashley Cole
13 Michael Ballack
4 Claude Makelele
8 Frank Lampard
10 Joe Cole
15 Didier Drogba
21 Salomon Kalou
Pretty gd line up…. but why Essien right back?
well we needed to pu ballack in for this game and i dont think putting essien at right back is a bad kmove actually, we could pose problems to clichy and hleb down there.
putting essien at rb is a gd move i think…he has the stamina and strength to counter and chelsea also score a few in the first half…kalou miss the ball…lol…c’mon chelsea…beat the arse out of arsenal in the 2nd half
Good game thus far. Drogs and Kalou wasted perfect opportunities. Ashley and JT have been fairly solid. We almost gave up a goal in a set piece though. Don’t waste chances and tighten up on sets and we just may win this game unless Grant makes some dumb decision
what we saw was 20 minutes of Arsenal dominance and from there on the Blue smiles all over. Ballack and Drogba stole the show. Bang on targets from Ballack were the real start signs of Chelsea’s presence in the game. I think we slept in first 20 minutes. What a goal from Drogba, a fantastic equalizer. Match all set for 2-1 Chelsea win with Anelka in….
