All Hail Avram’s Arse | Was Champions League Draw Rigged?
Avram’s ‘hatachat’ does the trick again. Chelsea has got a dream draw with Fenerbahce and in fact the easiest draw of all the fellow-favourites. I’m kind of tempted to say that if we ever had one best chance to make it to the champions league finals, it would this. It went perfectly by Avram’s script of the draw.
Avram Grant would have expected three things:
1. To draw either Schalke or Fenerbahce
2. To play the second leg at home in the qaurter final and semi final
3. To avoid Barcelona or Man Utd until final
Goodness me, he got it all. In 04-05, we got Bayern Munich in the quarters where we had to play the second leg at Olympiastadion. In 06-07, we had to play Valencia in the quarter final, again playing the second leg at Estadio Mestalla. So, in many years this is the easiest draw that Chelsea has got in champions league. If there is one (only?) thing that Avram Grant has brought us it is LUCK. May be he’s our lucky charm.
In fact he did get lucky in the other competitions too. While we had to beat Arsenal in the last season’s league cup final, Avram only had to play Spurs this time but bottled it. We had to beat Man Utd in the final last season to win the FA Cup, he just had to despatch Barnsley which would have left us in the company of easier teams to deal with, but again he screwed it up. Now I hope we don’t make a meal of this convenient draw.
Also this has made ourselves stronger in the league too! Arsenal are now supposed to play Liverpool thrice, Chelsea once and Man Utd once in the next 20 days. Funny thing is, they play Liverpool thrice in a space of 7 days. By mid-April, the series of big matches would have taken a toll on the Arsenal team and unavoidably they might have more injuries. Will this period mean the title race is between Chelsea and Man Utd?
Amidst all this, there is a belief that this whole champions league draw was a rigged one. Well it’s not just a belief because when someone gives me the exact pairings with 100% accuracy, exactly 90 minutes before the draw started, I have to think it’s a fact. Also, the betting companies were not taking bets on the draws which was very fishy.
You may say that the balls are there in the bowl and the person drawing the balls will not know the team names inside. But look at it this way, the balls with team names inside can be hot or cold, hard or soft, rough or smooth. You won’t be able to know these things from distance. I read somewhere that statistically, there 32,400 possibilities of the pairings involving all eight teams including calling the home and away fixtures correctly. Exactly 90 minutes before the draw, someone pops up and gets the pairing right, the home/away thing right, the semi final pairing also right, it has be a fantastic incredible coincidence or simply a rigged one.
Rigged or not, Avram Grant would not have expectd for anything easier. With all his prayers answered, will Avram Grant become our Rafael Benitez?
another crap writing….your Mourinho had best bunch of players in those years when Chelsea was repeatedly humiliated by ordinary Liverpool…
Thanks mate! I appreciate your writing!
@ 1 – be sensible (i’m not addressing you, i’m advising you lol)
liverpool has never humiliated jose’s chelsea. yes they beat us and we beat them too. remember beating them 4-1 at anfield? that’s humiliation.
in champs league, once in penalty shootout and once to a goal that never was. M_D if you’reading this, we (chelsea lol) had a penalty turned down too.
ah we are back to this jose vs avram argument. put this to rest please. that’s a fecking insult to the genius of JM. jose is an all-time great, he is a fantastic genius. leave him alone. he’s not with chelsea anymore. why do you guys keep talking about him this way???
i think avram must have pleaded with roman to have the draw rigges so that he can get fener, play at home in the second leg and avoid barca/manu. for his friend roman would do anything. if he has made a chelsea manager out of a dumbo, can’t he rig the draw from him?
i hope to chelsea after the easiest draw to get the uefa .

Humiliated?? By a non-existing goal and a penalty shoot-out??
i hope to chelsea after the easiest draw to get the uefa .
YES! IT’s ours this year!!!
I fear Avram will screw it at Fener…… All Hail Avram Grant.
@BC
BC I Just don’t what to comment in here………
if you know a lil bit of history jose has a similar lucky arse when he won cl.the only decent team he beat in competition was man utd due to a disallowed legitimate goal by scholes……….if u r meeting celtic and monaco in semifinals and final there is somethin wrong……
Tbf
All great managers have luck. Avram has only luck. Thats the difference.
Jose was lucky to face monaco but he did not have a multi million pound star studded chelsea. He had only porto. I’m tired of the scholes goal. What about the penalties porto did not get in old trafford? Didnt rijkaard win cl with that offside eto equaliser?
All great managers have luck. Avram has only luck (and a big arse and friendships of billionaires). Thats the difference.
TBF@, you wanna talk about luck in CL? remember a certain Man utd against bayern in the finals in 99? tatally outrun, outplayed, ourscored till mother luck struck in two minutes off added time? that is the mother of all luck- an event that happens once every century perhaps. wiat till Jose goes to another team and see what he will do in the CL. I will not want the blues to meet a team managed by him- i will not cos I know what the man can do. if you do not, sorry about that. The overwhelming majority of seeing blue fans know it.
The Champions League draw could have been fixed & if it was going to be fixed, Russia would be an easy place to do it. Looking at different web sites after the draw, I saw lots of comments from Malaysia, some dated the day before the draw, that said pretty much what popped up on the Scouser’s web site just before the draw. At any rate, maybe the Toad has got his luck now, but even if he wins the Pl & the CL I still want him gone.
Even though our clueless Grant-TLO(The Lucky One)carries huge luck all the time but am for pretty sure that he (and our players) will screw it up. By the way is it Chelsea blog (or) anti-Chelsea blog? coz I see the title ‘n’ picture lacks Class albeit it meant to be funny :-\
cant agree more with u MourofEssien.
@ bluebayou, I think yu are referring to this one:

AG gets the easiest pairings then mucks up with his fantastic acumen later on.
Lots of good his rabbit does to us and Chelsea !
rabbit foot
BC you read my mind with your writing, absolutely correct.
AG only brought LUCK thats all.
Regarding the CL draw, I had seen it 90 minutes before the drawing .
With 100% accuracy and RA booking all the hotel rooms in Moscow for the final, hmmmmmmm, such certainity. I wouldnt be surprised if someone rigged the CL draw, Moscow would be the ideal place to do it.
Another easy draw for the TLO, couldnt get any easier with turkish delight.
About the JM luck, yes bayern Munich, Liverpools etc etc, it is luck all right.
RomanEmpire @ 13: may be you did not know this matey. in israel when avram was a football manager, there used to be a saying in hebrew “hatachat shet avram” which translates to avram’s arse. in israel it is believed that the ones with big arses tend to be very very lucky. even in israel, avram won and drew a lot of matches by pure luck so they say it’s because of his arse.
im right, BC?
*AG will end up in the premiership table beteen the places 1-3
*Chelsea didn’t do good in europe and even in the league this year(with all the respect to JM as a good manager), until AG start to take control as a manager and changed things around.
*AG statistically, since he is the manager, succeed more than ferguson, wenger and benitez, by winning precentage(we might not take the carling cup&league cup, but we did better than the other top teams).
and since he is our manager, we did great in the league and the champ’s(one can forget that we played half of the season with our reserves and replacements alike sidwell, ben-haim and pizzaro and others which are very fine but not our top players. but even though we kept on progress
*the lack of love to AG, is not for the lack of success, as he did great relatively until now and not less than any other top manager or even more like i detailed. the lack of love until now is for the reason that he came after a loved manager by the fans, JM. but the boss RA didn’t get along with him and this is life. some achievements and success and time that will hill the pain of JM departure and everyone will be less sentimental and will see that logically AG did great, against all odds, when peoples, lovers as rivals said we are history after JM departure, but on a contrary, we had a great run in the league and champ’s.
That was my personal point of view,
based on facts and not on emotions.
LETS GO CHELSEA!
Yours,
From Israel,
Alon Rosenzweig.
All israelites take this into your head.
1. AG seems to lack normal intelligence, leave alone football intelligence
2. He backstabbed JM and got his job in an underhanded way
3. He got the job only because he had befriended RA, with evil intentions
4. The team is not run by him. Steve Clarke and John Terry are doing it.
5. All AG does is naming starting eleven & making subs where he fails tremendously.
6. I give AG no credit for anything positive about this Chelsea team because it’s impossible for him to make a positive contribution.
The guy ” Rosenwig ” @20 might be ” AG “himself, LOL
Btw can’t we have an Israeli who goes beyond national and religious boundaries on the blog at least and ‘fesses up that AG is shite ?
Anyways RA must have beeen squirming in a madman-like deliriun after losing to Tots and the Barnsley near-part-timers . LOL
I can picture him flopping on the floor and having no appettite for food or sex the next three days after each loss.
Serves him right for his misdeeds and utter blah blah blah.
I hope he gets a guy like AG who captains a boat with lotsa luck and liitle skill for his motorized monster yachts …. and so on and so forth….
A large part of being a manager is inspiring and demanding respect of the players in a club. AG does not do that for the boys at chels. Manager’s like JM, Rijkaard, Jurgen Klinsman these are the kind of managers players want to play for.
JoseH, You are impossible!!!!! AG himself coming under the guise of Rosen…? you are too much….
why my comment waiting moderation? Isn’t it good enough to the level shown in this site ?
J-BLUE-M
Yes you’re right. It is not good enough to the level shown in this site.
It is certainly not because of your views. Both views are published if you see above (Alon Rosenzweig, for instance) All views are published as long as they are not cheap and offensive. Of course you guessed it right! The admin decides what is cheap and offensive.
Well J-BLUE-M my comments also show “comment waiting moderation”, dont understand why?
I must be the MOST moderated blogger when talking about AG.
riggedd?? this is one of the stupidest things ive ever heard….yeh we might have gotten lucky over the years, but we are not cheating
chelseaboy why do u think we rigged? but it can’t be a coincidence right?
