Do you want to bring back Jose Mourinho?

It took just one press conference for JM to hit the headlines and ruffle up weathers again. Here he talks about his love for Chelsea, his desire to come back, the pressure-free manager and something else too. There was a tongue-in-cheek slant in the whole interview which if you miss, you won’t get the whole point!

JM insisted that he still loves Chelsea which is nice to hear. I’m sure he cannot hate Chelsea for all that he had done for Chelsea and for the support he received from his players.

I still feel that the club is part of me and I want it to succeed. But I hope to play them next season in the Champions League and I want to go there and kill them.

That is JM in a couple of lines. Sentimental but aggressive like crazy. He did not ‘vow to kill Chelsea’ like many papers claimed. He certainly wants to kill any team, not just Chelsea but given a choice I would not prefer playing his team. The chances are he would end up with mostly Milan, Real Madrid or Barcelona, in that order. Of course JM will have an upper hand as he would know the strengths and weaknesses of each of our players unless Grant does a complete overhaul by summer, that is, if he is to stay beyond summer.

He also made a jibe against Arsene Whinger.

A unique team – their coach hasn’t won for years, but he’s an idol. There are no pressures at Arsenal. But do not say he’s growing young players into talents, because he takes jewels and polishes them.

If you’re a good enough manager and you’re given loads and loads of time to do your stuff, odds are you’d come out good. I can understand this as JM was sacked for getting just two domestic trophies. Also he is only one who boldly makes this statement about ‘Arsene taking jewels and polishing them’. In common press, it is like blasphemy. No one would like to question the so-called ‘professor’. I’m in complete agreement with his statement about Whinger.

Arsene’s response to this statement was very very cheap. He talks about people winning 100 metre sprints by cheating etc. Arsene generally thinks that the only way his Arsenal team can lose is when the opponent team cheats. Such a bloody joke. Whinger’s teams have a history of being a bad losers (remember the pizzas and crying), his teams being the most dirty playing teams, the worst horrible tacklers and an arrogant bunch. And suddenly now he is talking about sportsmanship! Arsene can’t get over the fact he could not beat JM with any of his teams and in fact lost to him a few times. We’ve heard it many times before! You win and it’s beautiful football and you lose, the world is against you and are teams are playing ugly, dirty football to beat you. Nonsense and typical Arsene.

After Arsene, JM goes on to dismiss our dear old Avram Grant like he doesn’t even exist.

I feel nothing for him and everything for the club. I was in the club for 3½ years and we shared the same club for a couple of months, no more.

How can the journos not ask him about the 39th game.

I’m so much in love with the English game and so much in love with Premiership that, if I was in position to say yes or no, then we play every Premiership game in England. If they want to do something abroad, why not a Charity Shield in New York, maximum, or a Carling Cup final in Tokyo or Seoul?

Surprisingly, this was my exact feeling which I wrote in Premier League: Going Global or Going Insane.

He thinks he would end up coaching in Spain or Italy next season but certainly would work with only those who really wants him and believe in his project:

I don’t want to return now. At the moment I am studying, but next year – yes. Either in Italy or Spain, and afterwards I want to go back to England, and then finish my career as coach to the Portuguese national team. At the moment I love the pitch, playing two or three high-level matches per week. As a national coach too much depends on the the work of others. As for Italy or Spain? Whoever really wants me. Whoever fully believes in my project. Whoever thinks I am the ideal person. I am free, I have neither a pre-contract nor a gentleman’s agreement.

Something tells me that he would coach Milan next season.

Now comes the most surprising part. He says he’s in touch with Kenyon and Abramovich and you know what, doesn’t rule out a return to Chelsea!! When he was asked about a possible to return to Chelsea:

Yes, why not. I would love to do that, of course, of course. I was speaking to Mr Roman Abramovich and Peter Kenyon on the phone last week as we keep in touch. I was telling them I wished them always good things, that I wished them always to succeed and I wished them always to win. But we talked mostly about family and friends and our lives. We have friendly relations – It always was. The reality is my leaving was a mutual agreement. We are happy to talk to each other. One day back to Chelsea, why not? I still feel Chelsea is part of me. I have Chelsea in my heart forever and I wish them only good things. I have been gone for five months and you wouldn’t get a bad word from me.

Didn’t we think that Roman and Jose had a bloody fight over something and broke up? I simply cannot wait for the next edition of his autobiography. There is some untold secret. And yes, he has not said one bad thing about Chelsea even after he left. Even when he was managing Chelsea he was talking about lack of support from top management but after he left, he has been very quiet while the Press were longing for an interview with him about what transpired or conspired in the Chelsea board room.

Would I prefer to see Jose back in Chelsea. Yes, but not now, not this season or next season, but surely after that. What do you feel?

Do you want Andrea Pirlo to join Chelsea?

Though I am a Chelsea fan but sorry to say Jose deserves to be a coach of top-giant. Well Chelsea is also a bigger club(thats of course only in this past 4 years), but in my honest opinion no way near to Madrid, Barca, Manutd, Milans in terms of so many ‘X’ factors. Who knows, may be Jose can succeed Sir Alex @ ManUtd one day. Whatever, I wish Jose all the best ‘n’ he is a born-winner!

i want jose to come back but not this season. let’s give grant enough time (to fail). avram grant is a master manipulator and conspirator. he would start a propaganda that was not given enough time. so let him be here until the end of the season. let each and every supporter of chelsea convince himself that grant is useless and then we’ll bring in jose with a new transfer budget.

That man has done so much for us. I nearly cried when I woke up to hear the news on the radio saying he had left.
This season has seen us humiliated and shows that money and players are nothing without our driving force that is Jose Mourinho.

  11. avatar 11 | Adonis Reply to this comment

MourofEssien, you’re raising her well :D
Ashton, Avram Grant has been granted enough time to fail. And he HAS failed. Chelsea’s not beaten one good team throughout his tenure and is 8 points behind the leaders. This is Mourinho’s team and Mourinho’s style of play is still implemented and has been consistently under Grant, though far less effectively.

You know, Grant has lost this game to Barnsley miserably without Lampard and Drogba. Remember a certain Jose Mourinho getting results with a much more depleted side?? We had no strikers for a whole month last season, and no central defenders or goalies for a third of the season!!!

About the signing of Mourinho, JM has been through this before. He was willing to negotiate a comeback after he was sacked at Benfica. It would be one of the happiest days for me a as a fan if JM resigns for the Blues I love so much. But it’s highly doubtful.

I love this idea but it is , I do not want to say “impossible” but it is very far.
Jose left Chelsea when Roman , and Kenyon were on top , they are still on top , so what should make him back ? no changes have happened to Chelsea since then , so why should Mourinho come back ? I do not see any reason , he won’t come back,
but I would be great, if he came back.
I support Lippi , but I think we will see a dutch coach next season.

Milan………again it will be lippi if it happens…….anyway milan board is not that concerned about winning…..they absolutely trust ancelotti…and then milan is again a continental club………..gallieni decides who to transfer……..and they don’t spend.

  25. avatar 25 | bella Reply to this comment

It was great to hear Jose once again like you say BC, passion, fire, sentimentality, love for football all wrapped up in one.

He’s charismatic, far too good to be out of a top job for too long and I miss him like crazy.

However, you can never go back, well you can but I don’t think you should.

I was as shocked as anyone to hear that he still spoke to Roman and Peter Kenyon but I think that’s the other side of him few see, he mentioned he spoke to them about family and such things – again that’s a part of him – family and wanting to be loved.

That’s all I think he ever wanted here – to be loved (he was by many fans), respected/loved by the players but also loved and wanted by the board – and that’s where things fell apart.

However, clearly he still respects Roman and co and has a place in his heart for us fans.

I will always wish him well and I truly want him to be in charge of a big club next season – hell if Grant can be in charge of Chelsea it’s an insult that someone like Jose is unemployed!

I hope to see him back here one day – but not with Chelsea – I think he would want a different creative challenge.

He like us should savour what he had and it will go down in history, he has to now make some more history of his own and so do we.

All the best Jose, a man with fire and ice in his veins and a real passion for life – that’s what always enamoured me towards him – his passion for everything – even when it got him and us into trouble.

Even if I disagree with a person what I most admire is someone with a passion and true conviction for whatever they do in life – I can respect and admire that – I respected and admired him and always will.

He was not perfect but he was perfect for Chelsea whilst it lasted.

Oh and another thing, thank you for telling it like it is about Wenger who seems to have a magical cloak around his shoulders which prevents anyone in the media from critising him an inch and for everyone to bang on about Arsenal’s amazingly beautiful football and how nasty Jose is to him etc etc.

    What a load of…rubbish!

Jose told it like it is about Wenger and I for one was cheering from the rafters.

Wenger’s football with his “young kids” has not won them much over the last few years and if they are not allowed to play their way they instantly get lost and stroppy.

Jose has his number in more ways than one.

I’m sick of the sychophancy over Wenger and his football.

I hope Liverpool beat them in the CL tie even if it does mean we will face them again.

  27. avatar 27 | Midfield_Decider Reply to this comment

    @26. bella

    These are your words:
“Wenger’s football with his “young kids” has not won them much over the last few years..”

You are wrong, that FOOTBALL with those KIDS won them hundreds, thousands OR maybe millions of fans all over the WORLD.

FOOTBALL is not only about trophys. It’s about PASSION. And the biggest passion comes with a beautiful FOOTBALL.

FOOTBALL is like a woman. I, like billions of other guys, will feel attraction and passion to a BEAUTIFUL and SEXY woman, not to an UGLY and BORING one. The same is with football.

P.S. Though I don’t know about you girls.

  28. avatar 28 | bella Reply to this comment

Well Wenger’s beautiful football soon turns ugly when his players aren’t allowed to play as they want, Arsenal’s discipline record is harldy stellar either and Jose is right Wenger is allowed to work with little or no pressure, knowing there is no demand he must achieve a trophy each year as long as he continues trying to play football his way without compromise.

That’s a hell of a let off, I’d love to work in a job where my output though quality did not have to win any actual awards to be considered the best!

Trouble is if Wenger’s teams can’t play as they want he has no plan B – he can either play his way or they get ruffled and lose and then they moan that they were “kicked out of the game”. No they were BEATEN by a manager capable of having a plan A, B and C (a la Jose).

As for passion, I think you will find midfield decider that Jose had just as much passion for the game as Wenger does – he’s just more brazen and honest about his feelings and he told a few home truths about Wenger which more could do with saying in public.

I’m not saying Wenger is not a great manager and astute and intelligent man but I get fed up with the continual bowing and scraping that goes on about Arsenal and their football as if they have some divine right to be lauded as something a cut above everyone else morally.

  29. avatar 29 | Midfield_Decider Reply to this comment

    1. I was not referring to PASSION of a manager. Who cares if Jose has a passion or not, we football fans are watching football not Jose’s mimics or face expressions. The greatest passion comes from the way teams like Arsenal and Barcelona play, which is called sexy football.

    2. Did Jose have plan B when he drew 3 games against Liverpool in the Champions League in 3 years and got beaten 2 times being knocked out by Rafael Benitez on both occasions? In all of those games Rafa played the same way with the same tactics against Jose but in 3 years time Jose couldn’t find a PLAN B how to handle with the man, whose players were worse than his. (Please don’t talk about a goal that never was becaus there should be penalty against Chelsea)

  30. avatar 30 | be_sensible Reply to this comment

@29….Mourinho never has plan B as far as playing style is concerned…he was good in making substitutions though…

if you dont think a manager need not have passion, that tells me somehting about your own passion. what’s wrong with your understanding? passion is not about facial expressions, see you have an understanding problem or a language problem.

jose did have a plan B and you know what benitez is not avram grant or some crap turkish manager. he matched jose with his tactics and that’s why those matches had to finish with a dodgy goal or a penalty shootout.

i will keep saying that it was a goal that never was. even we had a penalty against liverpool too. go support galatasataratasaray.

as always i liked your writtings, keep doing it.

In a knock out competitions clubs, managers need an element of luck, now and then, but to be a manager based ONLY ON LUCK, like this monkfish that says he has the experience to take Chelsea forward, it is an insult to any club fans, let alone to chelsea fans that know about football, and have seen JM to put cfc on the top of football tree.
JM always had a plan B, hence the substitutions at the right time with the right players.
I like sexy footbal as well but I prefer to WIN WITH PASSION, and JM was right about Wenger, many many arsenal fans must agree with JM, beautifull football but very few troffies………
Anyway the title of this Blog is ” Do you want to bring backMourinho?”
Well i would, but I do not think it is right to do that now.
I for one do not believe in second commings (KK v Newcastle)
But better than bring back mourinho is tho GET RID OF THIS CLOWN AG, that reckons he is a top manager, by the way chelsea shoud get rid of AG and send him to Turkey. Turquey is in need of TOP managers.

@55….lol…4 trophies….he couldn’t win CL even after spending millions and was repeatedly humiliated by Cesspool…he won EPLs with Ranieri’s buys…and then brought his Drogbas,Kalous,Ferrieras etc and see what happened to our team….u know what,ManU’s resurgence last season and Chelsea’s total transformation into Mourinho’s kitchen team coincided and that compounded the problem…Mourinho fans repeatedly say that we played nice football in first 2 seasons under Mourinho…and who were the major players then…all were Ranieri’s players….Cole,Robben,Duff,Cech,Makelele(even at 34 he is playing like a magician) were all brought by Ranieri….whom did Mourinho got…Drogba,Kalou,Ferriera(14m!!what a waste)…and then he turned someone like Mikel into a crap ‘pass to defenders’ player….enough of this debate…I just ask you to go through all of our matches last season and watch them with open unbiased mind…and I am sure you will agree with a comment made by someone last season that Chelsea-Cesspool matches are like shit at tip of a stick….what interests can that person have in making such a comment…nothing…he was just telling truth…and I totally agree with that comment….

This guy makes me laugh.I can see that you dont understand anything about football.
AGfriend is completely right, when he mentions that the only destruction of teams used to be the opposition.
drogba turned in one of the most lethal attackers, ferreira was and still is, when in form, a formidable right back, essien another fantastic player, the same for kalou and malouda, yes these players are top notch when MOTIVATED something that AG cant do.
Now that the motivation is being done by John Terry maybe, maybe he will save AG’ skin.
In the football media, and I am part of it, mention AG and is the puch line of every joke.
I couldnt care less what will happen, but trying to compare Mourinho with AG is like comparing sun light and artificial light, day and night.
He is a completely useless coach, I read somewhere that he could be a good manager at synchrinized swimming, the man,Avram is completely out of his breath. Only faith and friendship keeps him in that job. Absolutely useless.

@57….kalou and malouda fantastic players along with Ferriera…in my school team I will give only Kalou a place at most….its a fact that Mourinho bought crap players in Europe…

I believe a big club like Chelsea need a long term Manager like Sir Alex or Mr V. Now ask yourself who could handle, stay and manage Chelsea for 10 years plus? Do you get the same answer as me? Only one, the Special One.
I hope Roman, Peter and the Board will show their deepest strengths by reversing the present situation and bring Jose back. PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE.

What is needed and URGENTLY is to SACK Avram, I read that someone calls him the “monkfish” and it is so appropriate.
The guy is a “monkfish” out of water.
    SACK this useless wanker.

Jose Mourinho is brilliant. I hope to see him back next season with Chelsea winning so much more.

We want and we need the chosen one to return, to come home. Come back to your family, your Chelsea family.

i think that avram should just stay as the manager because he has brought great improvement to the team and mourino has had hes time and he is now gone so ppl should get over him.i think avram is cool and if are a real supporter you would be happy that someone is trying and helping chelsea isn’t that what footie is about hmmm

Mourinho deserves to be at Chelsea. The only reason Grant is doing a decent job, is because he is playing with 95% of the players that were signed by Mourinho.

Roman, go to your ashtray in one of your Ferrari’s, find a couple of millions pounds, dial ‘The special one’ and bring that man back!

jose is truly special…no one could have less class, be so self-absorbed, have so inflated a view of himself than jose. how special. and how appropriate for chelsea to consider rehiring him. everyone knows he’s the perfect fit with roman, another know-nothing owner oblivious to the need to have continuity to achieve excellence. avram not only did a better job than jose, he did a better job than anyone imagined he could, under nearly impossible circumstances. please bring back jose so chelsea can fall to its deserved place as a no-class loser.
