Frank Lampard scored his 100th Chelsea goal as Chelsea went past Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge. After some scare by half time, Chelsea put the game out of Huddersfield’s reach by two second half goals.

An okay match all in all. I’m not so excited to write this match reaction in fact. In the first half Chelsea started brightly showing lots of promise which made me believe that we would be up by two goals by half time. Come half time, we were level at 1-1. Huddersfield manages find the net once again at the Bridge. Why is it so easy for teams to score at Stamford Bridge. Isn’t it the unpenetrable fortress? But that’s lot better than losing at home to a league one opponent.

In the second half, the score still level after an hour, there was this dicey period where the team that scores would have had a massive advantage. Thankfully, it was Chelsea who scored again and at virtually at that point, the match was over. If Huddersfield were hiping for an upset they have to do it the first leg itself. I don’t think they have it in them to beat Chelsea over two legs even in their wildest of dreams (hell, even Barca could do it only one out of three times!).

Frank Lampard’s milestone of 100 Chelsea goals is something very very special. This should officially put him in the list of Chelsea legends. He has this striker-ish nose for the goals. Look at his first goal. See how and when he sensed the goal. It’s always a pleasure when he smashes into the net like that. Kalou was pretty good. His goal was very well taken. The pity is we won’t be able to see too much of Kalou in the next couple of months, unless someone upfront breaks a bone or two.

I was disappointed with Pizarro. I had a lot of patience for this guy and it seems to running out fast. This is the kind of match that’s meant for players like him to show what they can do. If he is not impressing you against Huddersfield at home, can he dream of playing in the Wembley or Old Trafford? If we don’t have anymore serious injury crisis this season, Pizarro might be relegated to the stands, not even to the bench. He was unlucky not to score though. In the second half, he managed to beat about 5 to 6 players only to have his shot saved by the keeper. That dribbling effort of his certainly deserved a goal but I was not over-awed. Joe Cole would have shred them to pieces. Honestly, anyone who can dribble decently could have done well against this opposition.

Sinclair got something he always longed for – 90 minutes of first team football at Chelsea. He did okay I thought. He did show some spells of bursting acceleration and pace, which is his speciality. Playing for 90 minutes at home, with quality players supporting supporting and feeding him, playing against Huddersfield, he should have done better. May be if we give more such chances, he can improve.

John Terry is back and that’s good news. But he made another defensive error that lead to the goal and that’s bad news. Okay, he’s just back from a two month injury. I can’t expect him to give a 8/10 performance. Hope he gets better for the matches to come.

And hell, Liverpool is beaten at Anfield by Barnsley! Something’s seriously wrong with them. To lose at Anfield to Barnsley their players or manager must be awfully bad. But they aren’t so bad as they are made out to be. Something’s brewing behind the screens. If Inter manages to beat Liverpool next week, Rafa can go back to good old Valencia.

Meanwhile, I had the pleasure of seeing Arsenal being raped and murdered. The Red Devils without Tevez and Ronaldo tortured Arsenal to such an extent that a 8-0 scoreline would not have been flattering, in relation to their performance on the pitch. Now that’s their second 4-goal margin defeat after the 5-1 rout to Spurs. Fergie exploited Arsenal’s aerial weakness perfectly. I hope this match has dented Arsenal’s confidence and be the turning point of the season.

Olympiacos? C’mon, let’s get some real challenge!
