We have a massive game ahead of us. Wait, that’s not at the Old Trafford or at the Emigrants, come over to Upton Park where we take on the Hammers. We have won every single premier league match we played against West Ham since 2003. That won’t mean much for this match.
Put aside all the turbulences at the Bridge. Let’s talk about something else, something light. I want to narrate you a story which has no direct relevance now but I just thought ‘let me write about it’. There are some lesser mortals such as me who gets to see matches only on television, that too sometimes at ungodly hours.
The Chelsea top brass is never too impressed with the limelight that the club gets, as it’s mostly for wrong reasons. JM in his time at Chelsea made a lot of noise – some good and some bad. After JM left, Chelsea has not been in the news very much for a few months. And now, we’re back. It’s hard to find a news magazine today without some spicy Chelsea story!
First of all thanks to BC for inviting me to contribute the occasional article over here. It’ll be nice to get a different audience’s perspective on my sometimes brutally honest views on what’s happening with my beloved Chelsea.
There are times when your team loses but make you hold your head high in pride. Yesterday, the way we played, the performance of the players and the manager were all sub-standard and to some extent shameful.
There is no discussion on who’s the favourite for this match. Chelsea would be really upset if they miss out on the first trophy of the season. The quadruple still being a possibility, Avram and Chelsea will go all out to retain the trophy.
BBC reports that Avram Grant may not choose Terry and Lampard for the League Cup final on Sunday against Tottenham at Wembley. This sounds strange because there was a widespread belief that they did not play against Olympiakos, only to rest well for this final.
On a day when Liverpool beat Inter and Roma beat Real Madrid, Chelsea could not get that crucial away goal as Olympiakos held on to a goalless draw. We managed 3 shots on goal in 90 minutes with our best line-up. That’s bad.
Champions league nights are back. Chelsea travel to Greece to play Olympiakos and have all their key players in time for this contest. The hosts must really worried about this fact.
Frank Lampard scored his 100th Chelsea goal as Chelsea went past Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge. After some scare by half time, Chelsea put the game out of Huddersfield’s reach by two second half goals. (more…)
