Why aren’t we No.1 | Why haven’t we fallen below No.3

league-table.jpgWe should be rather happy to be at No.3 as the gap is just 4 points now. I’d happier if we are at No.1 but c’mon this No.3 is not too bad. It could have been worse. Most of thought that the team would fall apart, mass exodus etc. Nothing of that sort happened and in fact, we are still strong.

Of course, the doomsday merchants like me overreacted a little when JM left. If Bill Gates retires from Microsoft, the programmers will suddenly lose their skills to code? Nah (they’d be as bad as before lol!). The impact of sudden exits of successful people would always be in the long term while popping up at crucial moments in the short term.

Now that we are sitting pretty at No.3 (sigh!), let’s see the current situation from two perspectives: (i) which factors have kept us away from dropping below No.3 (ii) which factors have stopped us from reaching No.1.

You can choose two answers in each poll this time!

I want to add this question as well , just to think abou that .
First poll:
Performance of the players : what made players perform better during Mourinho .
Spirit of the players : Where was this spirit during mourinho tenure ?

second one :
For the second poll , I liked to see these options as well , Mourinho’s management , and Roman’s management . then I would go for Romans’ management .

Maysam! Seems like you want to see a Jose vs Avram fight everywhere and you want to see a lot of blood, don’t you? No malice here. Let’s not move too much away from topic.

READ THIS ARTICLE WITH CHELSEA’S NEW TEENAGE RECRUIT, SEEMS LIKE A FANTASTIC BLOKE:
New Chelsea recruit Franco Di Santo has described the thought of playing alongside Didier Drogba as “something out of another world” as he gets set to leave for London at the end of the week.
Di Santo Looks Forward To Drogba Partnership

Chelsea paid £3.4 million to the Chilean club Audax Italiano to secure the services of Di Santo and he is all set to leave his homeland of Argentina to join up with his new team-mates over the weekend.

In a good early sign for Chelsea fans, Di Santo laughed off suggestions that the weather would be an issue for him once he makes the move to London.

“For me I like the cold and rain, so in that aspect there is no problem. If I want to prevail I must adapt to how it is,” he told Olé.

He was then asked whether he can believe the speed of his rise of fame, to which he stated that it has come as a major surprise to him to reach so many milestones early in his career.

“No, for not all. In the year and a bit I have been playing so much has happened. I played in the Copa Libertadores and I played for the Under-20 national team in the South American tournament in Paraguay.

“In just a very short time, I have achieved things that few have. This makes me very happy… It seems like it was just yesterday when, at 14 years old, I went by myself to the other side of the Mountain range (Chile) with this dream.”

Di Santo was obviously excited about the prospect of moving to Chelsea and linking up with the world-renowned players who are already at the club, whom he hopes to learn from and improve his game.

“I have the idea to go to learn. It is going to be a dream for me to be next to Drogba, Kalou, Lampard, Wright-Phillips, Shevchenko and Anelka, that they bought recently.

“I am going to watch how they play and if I am called on to be part of the team, I will be prepared to give my maximum and do what I do best. I will fulfil whatever the manager Avram Grant requests of me; that is if I understand it (laughs).”

Finally, Di Santo suggested that he will just be privileged to play alongside the likes of Drogba at Chelsea and hopes one day to achieve the same success and be able to give something back to his home town.

“I always speak with my father, Jorge. To be in clothes, changing next to Drogba will be something out of another world. I am going to help him tie his laces (laughs). I must become used to being around these players since now they will be my teammates.

“I hope to reach those heights, although I have a way to go… I do not wish to disappoint those who have trusted in me, especially the people of Mendoza. I want to help the unemployed where I was born and football in my province,” he concluded.

What really stopped us from being No.1 is the fact that we no longer are feared like before !
Middle teams think they can grab at least a draw from us now if they’re up to full strength on the day….
Bigger teams don’t feel pushed, pressued by us anymore , they feel that we’ll win games alright but not enough to be champs again with all the competitions we’re in. Just draw these guys at the Bridge they are thinking and that’s all the big teams need to do to keep us where we are.

The reason we’re off the pace (but not by much though ) is psychological …..
But if AG and the players can capitalize on being underestimated I think we have a chance.

in my opinion the reason we are still in 3rd is
the great luck we have had, in 3/4 games
and injuries also helped.
About Di Santo he says he wishes to play alongside
DD, well he came 1 year too late, lol.
Geee the WordPress saying I am posting comments too quickly.

can someone summarise the results of these polls so far. my note is here:

it’s all upto the squad and players. we already had a very good squad of excellent players who could perform irrespective of avram’s presence. about 90% of the credit to our current situation goes to them. as regards why we haven’t gone up is mainly injuries but also some crucial losses which could have been draws with better tactics.

bottomline: we are wasting some money on avram grant. let’s sack him, save the money in a fund called ‘avram grant youth fund’ and buy some good young players with that money.

BREAKING NEWS

I have it on good authority that Liverpool have been bought by DIC. yes that is right DIC.

GOD RAFA will be handed a transfer kitty that has never been seen before in English football.

the likes of Villa, Silva both of Valencia, Eto’o of FC Barcelona, Quaresma of Porto and one marquee player of Rafas choice will be heading to Anfield.

Remember that it is I who broke the news first.

lets see who RAFA buys and how successful they become…..i like the kid di santo and i hope he does well…the reason why we’re 3rd is because of some lucks that Avram has suddenly given us and the reason why we’re not 1st is because of the injuries to some key players…
