You can prevent impersonation in this blog!
Simple solution: Register yourself and login each time you visit. Registering is an one-time activity that takes maximum 1 minute and logging in takes 5 seconds in this new theme (last tab in the side bar). The last time we had a similar confusion I came up with the same solution. Even now this is the one and only solution.
If you have trouble locating the login box, this is where it is.

I you want get yourself registered or if you have lost your password, send me an email to admin@bluechampions.com. I (or Kafka) will set it up and get back to you soon.
Impersonation is a widespread problem that bugs all the blogs. Sometimes you want to make things so simple and that’s when it can be taken as an advantage. Many blogs, including ChelseaBlog, expects the commenters to type in their email ID (which is hidden) as an extra level of security. Some blogs allow only registered users to comment. I did not want all this in BlueChampions. I wanted to give the readers the freedom of having to
spend as less time as possible to publish and see their comments.
If it gets too messy in the current set-up, I can give certain rights only for registered users. Two options - (i) if you’re not registered and logged in, you cannot even view the blog (ii) if you’re not registered and logged
in, you can view the blog and comments, but cannot write a comment.
This could result in lesser traffic or lesser comments but that’s fine. It’s better than us having to deal with some faked identities. There are many many successfully functioning message boards that require registrations and logins. We are having some very compelling discussions here for which free registration is hardly a price.

BC - I registered and it said to check my email for my password. 15 minutes later I have not received the email, should I wait longer or there is a problem with it?

Who cares about impersonation?
BC can always find out through the IP number if there is different
entries with different names.

I mean different names with the same IP

yes we can find out through the IP address. but we don’t really enjoy that kind of investigation. this is a football blog and we discuss such stuff here. but to fins out who is impersonating and who is not is a wasteful exercise. that’s why BC is not too keen about the IP address thing.
registration is a much better idea, me too thinks.

I guess BC already spoke to people in the gunnerblog and arseblog for a similar system. I don’t what came out after his discussions. I’ll keep you posted.

[...] might in fact move to a set up whereby only registered users would be able to comment. May be from the Feb 1, 2008. BC will confirm that later on. If you want to [...]

bidji to get registered, send an email. thats what he says, read the post again
If it(impersonation) spins out of control, then you can use the “gunnerblog” as example .
It give a random alphanumeric number every time you comment.
This number is the same for the IP of the system. This solves the problem.
