Chelsea sign Branislav Ivanovic
More good news. Within a week of signing Anelka, Chelsea has signed Serbian captain Branislav Ivanovic from Lokomotiv Moscow for £9 million. Until recently I knew of only one Ivanovic who is now playing in the Australian Open. Our man is 23 years old, plays anywhere in defence and has a decent scoring rate for a defender.
Strange to see a defender being signed when we appear to have the right number of defenders in our squad. May be the rumours of Terry being out until the end of the season are true and that’s why we need a good defender. Or probably, he would replace Wayne Bridge. Yes, I don’t think it’s a rumour any longer. Wayne Bridge could be on his way to Anfield for £6 million. That would be a shame. See what Fergie did to Liverpool’s hopes of signing Heinze? Hope Avram does a Fergie here!
Having seen the acquisition of a striker and a defender, we should now be looking at midfielders or wingers. That would tell us something about the formation that Avram would stick with. So we have now spent 24 million. Another 26 to go.
Impersonators beware, we got a solution!

I really believe Ivanovic will be a very good back up in case there is a long term injury to Terry or Calvaho. And It is most likely Ben Haim and Ferreira will be sold to Spurs and Valencia respectively. It will be devastated if Chelsea sell Wayne Bridge to Liverpool of all clubs. If it is necessary Wayne Bridge should go then he should be sold to any other clubs other than the top clubs in England. Perhaps, Drenthe will come in from Madrid at the end of the season to be a back up for Ashley Cole if Bridge is eventually sold but not until the end of the season.
I do not think we need any midfielder during this transfer window unless Sidwell is sold/loan to either Blackburn or Sunderland. I prefer to have Modric purchase as a midfielder if we are to buy one this month but the president of his club as reiterated that Modric is not leaving until June .
Before the end of this month we will see how the signing unfold. Up Blues

I think Ben Haim and Ferreira already have one foot out the door.

good signing . he is good .
I like Wayne bridge very much , but I know keepeing Ashly and Wayne in a same team is very difficult and a big mistake . Ashly was a mistake we had Bridge and we did not need him but anyway that happened . I hope Bridge stays at Chelsea I believe he is much better than ashly.

I know nothing about Ivanovic, but it seems he’s a good player. That’s all I’ve heard about him. I’m glad we have reliable defenders now. Last year, with Essien as CB, I was pulling my hair out most matches!!! haha.
I highly doubt Bridge’ll be sold, even in the summer. He’s performed better than Ashley this season and his crossing and attacking is excellent. If anything, we should replace Ashley with Drenthe!! But no, I’m very satisfied with both… Bridge’s a better attacker, Ashley’s a better defender.
I hope Ivanovic’s purchase means Tal is leaving soon. He’s been consistantly underperforming.
I really can’t see what we’ll do with a new midfielder if we buy him, when we have a healthy Ballack, Lampard, Essien, Mikel, Malouda, SWP, Joe Cole, and Makelele. And yet… I can’t wait till we buy one. We’ve got extremely skillful midfielders in all kinds of different ways except in trickery. If we buy a dribbler/razzle dazzle player, we’ll be set.

robinho would be good for that razzle dazzle dribbling player that you talk about adonis, i think in the summer we should replace drogba with aguero and huntelaar and he strike force for next season would probly be huntelaar, aguero, kalou, di santo are 4 good yound strikers, i would be amazed if we had those strikers for next season, oh and laso mitrovic(the next ibrahimovic)

I Think ferreira and ben haim are out………….
11. Nihongo Blue
if he can settle as his counter part serbian vidic settled for ManU we have a great prospect…!!
I wish we had taken him(or any defender) last yr in jan transfer window… so close so far from quadruple!!!

I see this as a great signing. From what we hear, he has great talent and is very versatile. He can play along the whole back line and he can play there very well. Ben Haim and Ferreira seem to be out of favour now. Good news with Ben Haim but slightly disappointing with Ferreira. He has been a great player for Chelsea since he joined with Jose back in the day and although he has had his bad matches, this year he has shown his great ability. On his day, there aren’t many better right backs available. Unfortunately, it seems he has to move on which happens and if he does go best of luck to him wherever he goes.
Ivanovic is a great name, I love it. Hope that is a good sign. Like you said BC, the only other Ivanovic I know is the tennis star and she is perfect, a great tennis player too! Hope that is also a good sign. :P

I will have my reservations for the moment.

I agree with you Ferreira when in form is still a very very solid
lateral back

I t seems that Newcastle need a new manager quick .
I propose we sell AG aka TLO : The Lucky One to finance a bid strong bid to buy both Ronnie bucktooth and Eto’O at one swoop…….
To all New castle fans : Toonies ! hey wake up ! look ar TLO’s record for the last 20 games, u can’t go wrong with the man…
Contact CFC quick before LIvermuddle get hold of him ! He’s a gem , one of a kind , a winner and he don’t care about noisy fans : just the right kind of manager you guys need !
They say you can’t buy luck but by God ( if there is one ) ,we are selling the real McCoy !

Hahaha, JoseHoliday, that’s hilarious. I wonder who’d buy him!!!
Indeed, if Ivanovic can perform as well as Vidic, we’ll have a gem in the back; I find Vidic, next to Carvalho, to be one of the best center-backs in England.
To say that Aguero will come to England is complete nonesense. I’ve seen him play and he’s a brighter prospect than Torres for Atletico; they won’t let him go.
23. Den
adonis torres plays for liverpool, aguero will move because he will fell tletico isnt a big enough club for him soon and he will move to a top club.
24. used2gonwatchcfc

Atetico Madrid is a massive club, a sleeping giant
the problem there is the same as Newcastle have/had
far too much interference from the President of the club.
They are doing very well right now in 4th place,
when I last saw their classification.
Aguero is very happy, according to the spanish press,
actually the manager will be on his way out this summer,
the fans are taking to him for selling Maniche.
25. Blues_Godson
if bridge goes to liverpool,it would be a heartbreaker for me because i havwe always loved this guy and although he has played second fiddle to ashley in both the club and national circuit, i believe it would only be right if we let him go if he’s going to have a better chance of playing….he’s a good and humble player so we shouldn’tr be selfish because we like him…let us consider his own career as well….i just believe we should let him go at the right price…maybe 10 million puonds…since we can pay 9 million for ivanovic whom to be sincere,i have never heard of..
26. loyaday
chelsea are all kitted up. and hopefully going in the right direction. oh yes have you noticed failed england managers are a species in demand in the premiership its a + when the vacancy comes around, i suppose being a tax exile from italy and or a guest of the italiian goverment is ok too.
