Chelsea Transfer News & Rumours | 3-Jan-2008

After two full days in the transfer window, we are still dealing with rumours and teasing interviews. There is every chance that a lot can be settled this weekend. It appears that we are going to strengthen the attack more than the midfield or defence.
Chelsea have really closed in on Branislav Ivanovic. Some papers have written that the transfer is through. Ivanovic comes under Roman’s quota of signing. That does not mean Ivanovic will be good enough or something. He is a hot young talent being chased by many top clubs. And I like his name too. Ivanovic is multi-purpose defender who can play anywhere. I don’t know if we should look for a anywhere-defender (remember, that’s how Boulahrouz came in). Our defence consists of Terry, Carvalho, Alex, Ben Haim, Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge, Belletti, Ferreira - that is 8 players for 4 positions. In such circumstances, I would go for specialist defenders.
The most exciting news of the week has been the possibility of Chelsea signing both Berbatov and Anelka for a combined fee of £35 million. Only a few days back I had written that we should go for Berba instead of Anelka. Here is Avram talking about signing them both:
They are both players I like. Our strikers are doing well. Shevchenko is much brighter and Kalou scores in almost every game. But a team like Chelsea should have more forwards. Wait and see.
Here Avram gives credit to both Sheva and Kalou and I don’t think he has plans to get rid of either of them. Drogba would be back as well but I strongly feel he would be shown the door soon. In that case, to get both Anelka and Berba would be wasteful and can give Grant too much headache. Anelka wants to move to Chelsea because he wants to play champions league football. Berbatov is too good to be kept not playing is such big matches. Especially when Grant fancies 4-3-3 more than 4-4-2, couple of strikers can’t even be on the bench. May be, once he gets his men in, Avram would change the formation to 4-4-2. Oh wait! We are also checking on Kevin Doyle!
{democracy:84}
It is little interesting for me. Just like Grant, I’m busy in the transfer market for Chelsea. Hope both of us end up with some good moves. Discuss all your transfer rumours here. Even your wishful thinking is most welcome.

—- Cech—–
Belleti—- terry—-alex—–ashley
Ballack—- MIke—ESSIEN—-LAMPARD
PIZARRO —– DROGBA
BALLACK AND PIZARRO have to play together….
they know each other very well….
we already have 4 strikers…for 2 positiosn… and sometimes we play w/ only one striker….
it is b.s. to think that we need an extra striker…

pizarro .- i HAte him , but i think he is good hitting the ball w/ his head.
Drogba.- He is really physical…and he got a big ego… he is like eto…but uglier
KOLOU.- this Motherflower cannot leave w/o drogba …i think drobga is his god father or some type of lover….
Sheva.- he haven’t forgot how to play soccer…he got the skills the move…but Fuc#$ drogba and kolou thinks they own the team…especially DROGBA>>>.
whenever he opens his mouth:S he thinks everybody is going to do what he says…
he thinks that he is in his country
PERSONALLY…i don’t like this player… and i bet u whatever u want…that if we kick out KALOU…. drogba will cry like a baby.

I’d be happy to see ‘Kalou-less’ go. Seen him at the bridge a number of times and doesn’t convince me.

i think kalou is young and OK. have a good prospect. he have to polish his end product =)

I am not reallly one who favours the January trnsfers cuz you hardly ever get value for money……..the prices are usuallly ridiculus as well!!!
I can’t understand how so many of ya’ll wanna see Berbatov and Anelka at Chelsea………
these guys are starters and I highly doubt they would wanna settle for anything less than starting roles…
Sheva is there, Pizzarro is there, Kalou is there, sinclair is there and Drogs to return in a month or so!!
I would wanna kno how Grant would keeep those players happy……
I am of the opinion that money have somehow caused us to lose sight of our goals somewhat……Sure we wanna win …but we must first respect out current players in the squad!!!
I also think we have made too much of our injuries
I have never been so happy to see Ballack play…It took an injury to Frank for that to happen!!! Im almost greatful for that
Sidwell is not worldclass but he is still a good player…….How can you wanna bring in players without utilizing the players that are currently in the squad…
We criticize these guys when they have a single bad game…..even considering they may only play 5 games maximum for Chelsea over the entire season!!
Pizzaro has been under utilized….Sheva’s injury is not serious
Malouda will soon return
We have signed Ivanovic; I hope thats the name…great: I like that!
But suggesting we need all of two strikers is totally absurd and ridiculous…where we gonna put all of em!!
I’m a big fan of Villa and to be truly honest i would wanna see him in a CFC jersey any day.
I like Anelka…… a better fit than Berbatov right now for Chelsea!
To Grant: We have players which are under utilized….develop the existing squad and forget about those super signings in Jan….wait until the summer….We are out of the premiership for heavens sake!!
That race is over unless all the Manure players break their legs and the Gommers have a drastic injury crisis!!
As 4 the Champions League……I hope by then the core of our current squad will be available by then!
Cheers Blues

I do think we squad needs some revamping however………but that is in the summer!
Heres a hot Chelsea summer to come:
I don’t see the likes of Lampsy, SWP, Ferriera/Belletti(at there age , no use keeping both of em!!),Makalele, Ben Haim, Sheva/Pizzaro (one of the 2 may leave),Drogs ( as great as he has been 4 CFC), going into next season!
Lampsy and Drogs are great players I think they are gonna move on at the end of the season: I also think we need some fresh blood in the sguad to add that spark and energy that is missing!!!
I think Mourinho was a very good manager…….his only flaw was his scouting!!!!
We gonna have to move on!!!!
Lets make some money of Lampsy and Drogs especially and get us the like of:
Srikers: David Villa, Berbatov/Anelka, Hunteelar
Midfielders: Vandeervart, a top class influential winger….Quaresma??? (I’m havin a hard finding a winger right now)
Defenders: Alves, Alves, Alves, Alves!!!! Hope we get one of the Alves and it has to be Danny Alves (lol)
Now which club will release these players in the January transfer window!!!
I highly doubt any of these clubs wanna do that!
Obviously these are high profile players…thus CFC will have to be brisk in the transfer market this summmer!
And our shopping rivals Madrid aren’t chasing any of these players for now so I think we might actually stand a chance of landing these players!
All the best in your shopping AG!!

CHELSEA signalled the start of a £50million spree by agreeing an £8.9m deal for Serbian star Branislav Ivanovic.
The Lokomotiv Moscow centre-half flies into London this week to sign after the Blues saw off interest from Manchester United and Juventus.
Chelsea boss Avram Grant made his move to clinch the first major deal of the January sales after getting the go-ahead from Roman Abramovich.
Now he wants to sign two strikers — with Bolton’s Nicolas Anelka and Dimitar Berbatov of Tottenham in his sights — plus a right-back and a midfielder.
Quibble
Ivanovic, 23, had been expected to link up with his Serbian defensive partner Nemanja Vidic at Old Trafford but United baulked at Lokomotiv’s asking price.
But Grant decided he could not afford to quibble after flying to Moscow in October to make a personal check on the player.
With skipper John Terry six weeks away from fitness after breaking three bones in his foot, Chelsea’s resources will be further stretched when Michael Essien leaves for the African Cup of Nations next week.
Ivanovic will be followed to London by Anelka.
The French ace is poised to complete a £10m move, as revealed by SunSport last month.
Anelka, 28, said: “The chairmen of Bolton and Chelsea are discussing a transfer and I hope it happens. I want to go to a bigger club.”
Grant is also weighing up a £26m bid for Berbatov.

Regarding Transfers
————————–
*If we get berbatov, trust me BC we will get back sheva of the old[milan]……hye is a deadly playmaker, one of the best in leagues, his vision is too good………………i have been stressing again and again lampard, essien cannot provide the kind of services kaka and pirlo provide……………..no matter how much we kid ourselves into believing it…………….sheva is still a 25+ goal striker………………….if a striker who has in past largely relied on service from centre………and that too grounded…………………he is not suited to a team which largely relies on aerial ball……………………………if u watch ac milan then it’s easy to notice………..they rarely use aeriel route
*anelka is a deadly player and throughout his career for major period played in club far below his standards, yet he has mantained a decent appereance to goal ratio………………..though if we get berbatov………..he is not required…………….if drogba is leaving, then yes…………….and why not david villa
On Ballack vs lampard
—————————-
who will you prefer as a cam after seeing recent performances…………………………….
with ballack u get
1.equal footed player who is as good long range shooter………….the only difference with lampard he doesn’t shoot at the sight of ball
2.much better vision and passing abilities
3.our best Aeriel threat from midfield though i rate him higher than drogba in air based on his performance for Germany, bayern, you tube clips[lol]
4.our best bet on set pieces except corner caus if he takes corner we are missing an exceptional Aeriel player in the box

Chelsea boss Avram Grant is ready to splash out £45 million on Spanish Liga stars David Villa and Daniel Alves this month.
The Mirror says with a deal for Lokomotiv Moscow defender Branislav Ivanovic being wrapped up, Chelsea are going back for Sevilla right-back Dani Alves, who was priced out of a move to Stamford Bridge in August. Grant also has the backing of Blues owner Roman Abramovich to bid for Valencia’s unsettled strike-ace Villa.
Valencia have signalled Villa could leave for a non-Spanish club if the right offer comes in. Alves, whose on-off move to the Bridge last summer collapsed when Sevilla rejected a £17m bid, is likely to be available as the club seek cash for rebuilding plans.

it dosent take a rocket scientist to see what kind of tactics and ideologies Jose follwed and definately i dont hav to be his blood relative to kno that……….lol, it takes only a little common sense, ur comment was as stupid as saying ‘how do u kno SAF wont play ugly Jose like football?? are you his relative??’……i dont need to be SAF’s bro or dad to kno that he does not promote such football and neither plays with such tactics…..wow some brains u showed there!
Anyways forgetting this whole stupid argument(over a man no longer concerned with anything to do with the club), wld really like Berba as well as Anelka here but whats the talk abt Villa?? he aint eligible for the CL, so whats the use of bringing him?? send Haim on loan atleast AG, he is a 2nd grade player………………until there a garunteed return of some players fully fit i wldnt like us to sell anybody, who knows which injury wld hit whom now………….
14. TrueBlueInd
Hi Guys,
Just read that Liverpool are chasing Wayne Bridge..I dont know if Chelsea will sell him though
If AG is ready to break the bank for Daniel Alves..then why not go for Philip Lahm???..he can play both LB n RB equally well..hes arguably the best in the world for his position
Villa for now would be a bad option as hes cup tied..Anelka or Berbatov would do just fine..Drogba will most definitely leave in the summer..in fact,Jose will come calling for many of his faithful like lampard, Drogba, Carvalho etc..n if lampard dosnt sign a contract soon, we could lose him for peanuts
We can buy more players in the summer window according to the situation..For now, a good DC,DR,FC,AMR should do fine
Cmon AG..sign some new guy before the FA cup game on the 5th
Any news about Franco Di santo by the way..is he coming??
Cheers

17. Adonis
About the Lampard/Ballack debate… I certainly agree that Ballack’s upside is better, he’s got more potential. But Lampard has consistantly played well for us, with Ballack playing well for a handful of matches. I beleive we need both to play well, and see how they’ll fit in, with Lampard more of a shooter/defender, Ballack more of the playmaker/penalty-box threat.
18. Bella
Joe Blue I will say it again you state with apparent absolute certainty that Jose had no intention of playing attractive football and treat it as a statement of fact when it’s simply your opinion - you’re wrong he did often play entertaining football which I found also attractive to watch.
If you didn’t happen to like the football he played (especially in the first two years) well tough luck that’s your problem!
What is your version of ugly football any way? You talk as if there are only two types and there is no inbetween or vagaries between how teams play from season to season depending upon various circumstances. I didn’t realise the football we played in the first season and next was “ugly” but thanks for the tip.
But back to the transfers.
It seems Grant according to gossip is buying up just about everyone - Anelka, Berbatov, Alves, Villa and so on.
I think Anelka will arrive as for the rest it will be interesting to see how he melds any new buys into what was Mourinho’s team to create his own.
We need to be careful not to increase our squad too quickly without perhaps culling a few at the same time.
19. Adonis
The thing with Villa and Daniel Alves is they’re not eligible for Champions League. We need to win that competition above anything else, I say. And therefore we need players like Berba or Anelka. Thinking of this season, it seems destructive to the team to bring both of them in. But long-term, all the signs point to Drogba leaving, and Kalou and Pizarro are still not convincing. If the two players are both available now, we should make our move before they go to our rival. Then we’ll sort out our team in the summer. I’m not sure which is wiser… It’s not my money, so I say buy both, but if I was paying the bills, I’d say something different.
Certainly the best player we can buy though in this transfer season is, in my opinion, David Villa. I’ve watched him perform superbly time and time again… This is a player that can take over Raul’s place in the international team. He’s fantastic, plays a second-striker role which would match Drogba perfectly. He’s a great free-kick taker as well… Whole offensive package, in my book.
But the asking price will be quite high.

i rather have lampard in chelsea than any other player that u guys are calling ballmakers. lampard is a man that every team wants to have, i bet he is the player that loves chelsea the most. a player that puts the team infront of anything else. balack is playing for the money while lampard is playing for the love he got for chelsea. so does terry and a few more. lapmard is chelseas heart without lampard chelsea wouldnt be the same. u guys are forgething what he has done for the team. instead of berbatov i want to se barry, another english guy that can kill for wins. i cant se berbatov killing for chelsea.

I`D BE GLAD TO KNOW DOES RONALDINHO COME TO CHELSEA FINALLY?
I`M SO SICK OF RUMORS. JUST TWO WEEKS AGO IRINN(IRANIAN NEWS NETWORK)SAID THAT RONALDINHO HAS ENTERED TO CHEL.C AND ROMAN HAS INTRODUCED HIM TO OTHER PLAYERS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND RECENTLY SHEVA IS THINKING TO GET BACK TO MILAN!AND IF WE GET RONALDINHO INSTEAD HIM CAN`T WE HAVE A GALAXY WITH PLAYERS LIKE RONALDINHO/BALLACK/LAMPARD/TERRY/DROGBA……?
I DONT AGREE WITH BLUFAN ABOUT COMPARING BALLACK AND LAMPARD.WE CAN`T SAY FOREIGN PLAYERS AREN`T USEFULL AT ALL BECAUSE THEY DON`T PLAY WITH THEIR HEARTS.THEY ALSO CAN LOVE THEIR TEAMS.CAN WE SAY FOR EXAMPLE LEO MESSI DOESN`T PLAY WITH HIS HEART 4 BARCELONA????????
THOUGH I THINK PLAYING BY BRAIN IS SO BETTER THAN PLAYING BY HEART!WE HAVE JUST A FEW ULTRA INTELLIGENT PLAYERS IN WORLD LIKE BALLACK AND RONALDINHO AND MAYBE KAKA WHICH PLAY COMPELETELY SMARTLY!SHOULD`NT WE BE GLAD TO HAVE BALLACK AND LAMPARD TOGETHER TO MAKE A DREAM COUPLE IN COMMUNICATING HEART AND BRAIN?LAMPARD IS PLAYFULL AND A GOOD GOALER HALF PLAYER AND BALLACK IS SO SMART/HAS GOOD HEADACHES/ANS PASSES THE BALL WELL.WE NEED BOTH OF THEM.BUT I PREFER RONALDINHO TO SHRVA OR DROGBA
WHAT DO U THINK?????????????????????????ANSWER ME TONIGHT!

Didier Drogba returned to full training today at Cobham.
Only Hilario and reserve goalkeeper Stewart Searle trained, Cech and Carlo still out injured.
Michael Mancienne central defender on loan at QPR cannot play against us on Saturday.
The game should be a good one - we used to have some right old battles with the hoops in years gone by.

it is a very tough question ,
for sure we need one of them. but I am sure Tottenham won’t miss Berbatov easily and they will keep him till the end of the season.
well ofcourse Berbatov is better than Anelka. he is younger.but I am sure chelsea will sign Anelka not berbatov.
25. cap123
Ramos won’t get rid of Berbatov unless we pay 30 million+ for him according to BBC, more than shevchenko is his point. Sounds like he’s just pushing for as much cash as he can to be honest, he knows we’ve spent that much before hastily.
I wouldn’t buy him for that much, stick with just anelka.
26. FleetofFoot
I saw the 30 mil plus figure on SoccerNet as well. Rather to have Anelka for less and let Berbatov go where he may so we can stop being held to a king’s ransom for players. That said, I would hope while Roman is looking at Russian League players he might consider Vagner Love or Jo of CSKA for a striker transfer if Anelka or Berbatov does not work out for January.
On the subject of those debating about Lampard staying or going in the season, I realize all players must pander to the fans to some extent, despite what they might really be considering, but today (at least according to SoccerNet), Lampard has said AGAIN, he wants to finish his career at Chelsea. As he rightly said in the article, no one will love Lamps as the fans at Chelsea do and being as he is one of the players that is Blue through and through, we should obviously resign him, and I believe whole-heartedly that we will. Lampard is part of the heart and soul of Chelsea and I doubt he’ll be coming on for another club next season.
27. Mikey
As much as I have loved Lampard over the years, I can’t help but make note of how well Ballack, Essien, and Mikel are playing together.
If it weren’t for the African Cup, I would think Ballack could keep Lampard out of the starting XI. He’s been awesome, and he’s a fantastic, natural-born leader in Terry’s absence.
28. Kenneth
Berbatov may not be as fast as anelka, but he has the better technical skills. If we get a reasonable price we should take it.
29. Adonis
Mikey, I couldn’t agree more about Michael Ballack’s fire and leadership ability. He’s impressed me very much throughout the season for the fire he plays with and the intensity he infuses our side with. We’ve certainly missed him this season.
About Lampard, I dare say we would’ve struggled to win the two championships playing that style of football without Lamps. It’s obvious he was our engine, and is still the central figure (get it?) in our box-to-box game. As a player that combines offensive shooting and defensive tackling in an effective package, along with a never-say-die attitude, an unselfish love for Chelsea, and a belief in himself and the side at all times, he’s really so important for our squad. Anyone who loves Chelsea and doesn’t like Lampard should reconcider the team they support, because Lampard’s been everything Chelsea’s about.
And I’m super-glad he says he wants to finish his career at Chelsea. I can’t wait till he gets his 100th goal soon, as well!!
30. Adonis
Oh, and I’ve just remembered… How strange is it that Lampard’s out injured?? He’s certainly been our healthiest player over the last 5 or so seasons, and his starts almost always bring positive, consistant results. That’s effectiveness.
31. Mikey
Agreed, Adonis. Lampard is the face of Chelsea FC for me. I would assume that to most non-fans, Drogba represents Chelsea, but Lampard is who comes to mind when I think of our dear club.
Perhaps it’s even more strange that perhaps the only Chelsea player who can rival Lampard’s love for his club, John Terry, is also out injured. The year 2007 has been awful for Terry in terms of injuries. He never used to get hurt, EVER. Have a look at this:
John Terry Injury History
Injury Club Date Injury Reported
Metatarsal Fracture Chelsea Injuries 2007 December 17th
Knee Injury Chelsea Injuries 2007 October 11th
Fractured Cheekbone Chelsea Injuries 2007 September 30th

39. Bella
I read about Avram’s press conference, yet another dig at the previous manager as he tries to highlight how much better he is, grit your teeth BC!
As for Berbatov and Anelka, the club may well be thinking that there might never be a better time to get two strikers such as this or perhaps Villa so you have to buy now rather than wait and miss your chance.
I just think too many new players can disrupt a squad that’s all.
40. BlueBlood58
Grant kept his cards close to his chest today (Friday) when questioned about Anelka and Berbatov. He said “We are following players and the present squad will stay together until the Summer.” Well that means that no one is leaving (except for the African Cup of Nations).
I am surprised that we havent got anyone in yet. Unlike our Cup opponents QPR who have almost bought a new team in the last four days and they will BE OUT to give us a hard game tomorrow in the FA Cup and before anybody dismisses the FA Cup as a trophy to win, remember we are the holders as we are Carling Cup holders too and we face Everton in the 1st leg of the semi-final on Tuesday night!!
Grant said about the media reports on JT ‘being out for the rest of the season,’ he said the JT was on schedule for a return within a ‘6 to 8 week’ period as was previously stated just after JT got his injury from the Eboue horror tackle.

Chelsea TV has reiterated that Frank Lampard wants to end his career at Chelsea, as Frank put it himself “The fans give me a lot of love, but I am sure they will kick me out the door when I get to 35.”

Anelka hopeful of Chelsea move
Friday, 04 January , 2008, 05:57
London: Champions League football is what attracts Nicolas Anelka most in a possible move to Chelsea, the Bolton Wanderers striker was quoted as saying on Thursday.
“The chairmen (of Bolton and Chelsea) are discussing it,” Anelka told the French sports daily L’Equipe.
“I really hope it happens - and especially that I am eligible to play in the Champions League,” said the 28-year-old who has scored 10 league goals for Bolton this season.
52. Adonis
The Anelka move is looking quite close to clinched, while the Berbatov deal, in my opinion, we’ll lose to the Red Devils. SAF’s good at getting what he wants, and they’ll make the move for a single player this january, not three or four like us. So I think they’ll get him–if Tottenham sell!! As for La Liga players to watch, I want to bring up Kanoute and Jesus Navas into the discussion. They’re at Sevilla and perhaps like Daniel Alves feel they’ve accomplished all they can with that team and want to move one. Kanoute is a fantastic, large striker, similar to Drogba, not as powerful but very tall and skillful. As for Navas, he’s young, he’s fast, he can dribble, he can cross… He’s magic. I would love to see him in Blue.

i wld never want any of those two, Kanoute is big, large and stupid, i still remember when he was with Spurs i think, a complete waste, he cldnt adjust a bit to the EPL, and was finally sold, only in Spain has he made a rep for himself otherwise he was nothing, i dont want another striker who cant handle the EPL, as it is he is touchig 30 if i m not wrong……………..
And Jesus Navas, he is so small, weak and puny, the defenders of EPL, wld beat the hell out of him, there in the La Liga they get fouls for every push and shove but here he wld be thrown left and right, he dosent even have consistency moreover , no, instead buy somebody like Quaresma, who is consistent as well as strong enough to handle the physical EPL…………………
57. joeblue
and now it really seems we are going hell bent on Berba, we hav asked him to hand in a transfer request, which wld not only make them think abt selling him but also lower the price…………..

60. bidji
http://transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/36827/branislavivanovic/profil.html says Branislav Ivanovic is our player now (for 12 mil.), but strangly, with number 6 (Carvalho).

@mister
i dont know what kind of a sense u have but i dont think i as an owner or manager wld ever want an inconsistent, tiny, diver, weak etc player, who has much much higher chances of failing than being another Zola, so rather i wld buy somebody who has what the pace, tricks and skills as well as the consistency, strength, power, experience and determination, ie somebody like Quaresma………dont mind it but anybody sane wld go for this…..
62. Mister
@joeblue
if you think those adjectives apply to jesus navas. that shows the level of football knowledge. jesus navas cannot be compared to quaresma - they are different types of players.
you seem to have no understanding of football!!! funny!

Guys, enough with the insults for goodness’s sake.
About the Quaresma/Navas comparison… I see Quaresma as a great player destined for a small team. I just can’t see him with a bunch of star players (not saying the Porto players aren’t stars, but they’re not Chelsea.) It seems he’s too cocky, too selfish, too Cristiano Ronaldo. I’d prefer Navas.
First off, Navas’s 22. He can still put on weight and muscle and become a superb EPL player. Just because he’s in that figure at the moment doesn’t mean he’ll be useless in EPL.
Navas’s game is a lot more focussed on providing for the strikers, while Quaresma’s is focussed on creating for himself. Each are unique, bothe are good. But I thing Quaresma would be a bit more expensive than Navas…
Overall, I like Navas more. He’s had many match deciding performances in a very young career. I mean, I love Quaresma, he’s got great technique, but I’m not sure how much he’d help Chelsea.
Joeblue, about Kanoute, he’s been fighting with Van Nistlerooy for the scoring title in La Liga the past couple of seasons, he’s a very dominant player in Spain. I think he can be an effective player in Chelsea. He’s had 54 goals in 105 games for Sevilla… enough to convince me that he’s improved a lot since his days at West Ham and Tottenham.
64. Adonis
Maysam, you’re right, we did get Duff and Mikel, but SAF’s been getting his players for 15, 20 years. We’ve done it for 2 or 3. I guess if Berbatov is right in Roman’s eyes, we’ll get him, but I’d preffer not to pay 20, 30 percent more just because it’s a bidding war!!
65. Adonis
Joeblue, another site says Kanoute’s numbers at Sevilla are 61 goals in 116 starts!! He’s a very good player, no one can deny that!
66. Bella
Apparently Drogba has said he wants to leave again to a French paper so I think this will mean that IF this is true then Grant will go after Berbatov and Anelka.
67. Blues_Godson
chelsea is preparing a 32 million pounds bid for berbatov…a british record…although i love this guy and want to see him play for chelsea..i thinkl the money is just too much….
68. CFC
@ 67 wer did u read that mate, u joking? lol 32 million pounds, goodness me, daily mail has reported Man utd are readyy to pip chelsea for spurs striker along with real showing an interest now, might be a 3 way battle, a bidding war, hahaha, it also states that Chelsea’s imminent £10m signing of Nicolas Anelka will not stop them pursuing Berbatov, particularly given Didier Drogba’s equivocal expressions of commitment beyond the summer.
69. CFC
It seems like Anelka is in almost, but if we are going for players who have already played either CL or EUFA cup then it would be inviting trouble.
“Chelsea must also juggle eligibility issues for the their primary trophy target. Champions League rules allow a maximum of three new signings to be added to the 25-man A List squad for the competition, only one of whom can have played Uefa Cup football this season. The club’s protracted shortage of ‘locally trained’ players means they must also find room for stand-in captain Michael Ballack.”
So if we are singing players it would ideally be for PL and ofcourse for next season. so shud we rush into a bidding war ?

Whats the status of Ivanovic (not sure about name but that 23yr old Serbian defender)?
Will Martin Oneill sell Agbonlahore? I think we should go for him, he is young, fast, english and knows EPL.
Can somebody update on following news -
TBH to newcastle.
Anelka, Berba to Chelsea.
Franco Di Santo to Chelsea
Ivanovic to Chelsea
one more Russian player to Chelsea.
Bridge to Liverpool (this is real nonsense for me)
Chelsea bid for Dos Santos
what about liverpool ? r they buying anyone?
71. Nubskeh
Siddarth -
Basically they are all just rumours at the moment. The papers are just creating stories because since it is January transfer window there is a chance a story would become real. Chelsea have only confirmed the fact that we have signed nobody and that the rumours are just that, rumours. They have players lined up, as would every club, but signing them is a different story. We should expect one or two in the window, so Grant can input some of his own creativity and ideas into the team.
In relation to those you have singled out -
TBH to Newcastle - let’s just hope so. Ivanovic would be a much better bet than he is.
Anelka, Berbatov to Chelsea - both players have been strongly linked, fueled by the fact that Berbatov’s agent said he would not turn down a bigger club and that Anelka supposedly said he would like Champions League football at Chelsea. I would only expect one of them to come, most likely Anelka, however do not know if either will actually sign.
Franco Di Santo to Chelsea - Sky Sports reported this as a deal, however they have done this with Chelsea before. For example, they once stated Pedro Leon would sign for Chelsea in the Summer window yet nothing happened. This occured amongst many other similar reports, like the Franco Di Santo one. So I don’t expect this deal to actually occur.
Ivanovic to Chelsea - I would rate this as the most likely to occur. He is a class player and it seems AG fancies him.
One more Russian player to Chelsea - I doubt this, even though Roman is Russian I don’t think he is that desperate to raise the profile of Russian football by bringing a potentially unqualified Russian player to Chelsea.
Bridge to Liverpool - I think this is, again, just transfer talk. Bridge signed a new contract recently and doesn’t look like he wants to leave. And we wouldn’t sell him to L’pool, anyway.
Chelsea bid for Dos Santos- Who knows here. If it is true, then great, because he is a really talented young player, full of potential. But, again, I see it as transfer talk and I doubt Barcelona will let him go, to Chelsea of all teams.
Liverpool - well, seeing Rafa’s comments recently, I expect them to buy a player or two. They are losing track with the top 3 (Man Utd, Arsenal and Us) in the EPL and I think Benitez will do anything to save his job. Expect a Spanish talent to come in.
Although there is nothing solid in here, I hope this helps.
72. Bella
Thanks for the round up Nubskeh,
I don’t think both Anelka and Berbatov will both come unless rumors of Drogba leaving definitely in the summer are true.
The di Santos rumor I have heard on Chelsea TV for months now that he’s coming.
Seems Ivanovic is almost a done deal.
Grant has dismissed the idea of ANY players leaving last time I heard.
73. zubinj9
guys what about lulinha?
everyone was reporting that (even CFC.COM), he will join chelsea fc by 3rd jan 2008. But nothing heard so far.
Or will ronaldinho arrive?
Roman even if no players arrive or leave , please keep searching for a new “special one”
no regrets to AG so far. BUT without a special one” we (chelsea fc) looks like ordinary.
74. used2gonwatchcfc
Apparently read in the press that Giovani dos Santos is not for sale.
Rumours from Spain that David Villa prefers spurs , to chelsea as he reckons
that chelsea will be a top 10 team and no longer in the champions league place team because chelsea is no a longer with the JM.
75. used2gonwatchcfc
@ Joe Blue
If you think that JM football was ugly replay
the first 2 years when chelsea won the leagues
You dont know what you talking about
The only reason chelsea is playing awfull football now
is AT LAST the players are assimilating AV methods.
76. olu
I personally think Lampard’ll leave. And though I think he’s a great player, I feel he needs another kind of Challenge. AND NO, ALL THE BIG CLUBS are not fighting for him. I read that Barcelona said they don,t need a player of the sort. Even juve I’m not sure.
77. Blues_Godson
Lampard has confirmed that he wants to end his career with Chelsea…i dont know if this is a good or bad news anyway but i think we should sell him…he’s just occupying space and he has stopped scoring for us….the reason why TSO likes him in the first place…
78. chelsea25
Hey dont forget wat lampard did for the team he did things other players couldnt and wont propably be able to.
Wat about ronaldinho is he comin or is that just transfer talk
Can u write a list about all the players that r coming or even might???????
79. chelsea25
Hey dont forget wat lamp did to this team he did things no one else propably will be able to do dont forget that
Is ronaldinho actually comin to chelsea or is that just transfer talk
I need a list for all the possible transfers!!!!!!!!!
80. ---
anelka is as good as berbatov..but i dont think we have a chance of buying him…what with his demands…not that we cant afford it….and we need striker/s with drogba, kalou and essien gone to african cup of nations and sheva injured..we need to bring great players in…hope JT and Lampard get better VERY SOON!!
81. ---
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lampard is a player that chelsea shud NEVER let go of!!!we shud NEVER let him go!!What he has done for chelsea is unbelieavable and i dont think any chelsea fans want him to le
i am the only one
who thinks to sign neither of them
we already have 3 strikers for 1 position….if we play 4 3 3 ….
but if he wants to change 4 4 2 … then we should get only one striker
i turn off my t.v NOW: )
