Chelsea vs Everton | 11-Nov-07 @ 14:00 UK
Do you get butterflies in your stomach before every home match nowadays, in the fear of losing the record? I do. That’s no reflection of how we play, how I rate Avram & co etc. It’s just that I get this jittery feeling about home matches as we don’t want this record to end. After a 135 minutes of bad football (second half vs Wigan plus the Schalke match), we get a chance to make amends in front of the home crowd.
Petr Cech is out for about 3 weeks and Terry can train only after 2 weeks. Everton has a longer injury list with Arteta, Baines, Vaughan, Stubbs – all doubtful to play and AJ being certainly out. That’s an undeniable advantage to us but Everton has also been in good form coming to the Bridge with a 5-match winning streak in all competitions.
We should play 4-4-2 allowing both Drogba and Sheva to play. If Sheva is not gonna play these days I wonder when we would start using him. Unless Roman has other ideas of buying another striker having Sheva, Pizarro and Kalou in the squad. All this rumours of getting Anelka and Huntelaar etc should remain rumours. If there is any truth, this not only undermines Sheva’s capabilities but also insults him.
Essien and Lampard should play in central midfield. Joe Cole and SWP should play in the right and left wing respectively. Even in the bench, I’d pick Kalou over Malouda. I wouldn’t disturb the back four. As much as I hate to see Cech injured, I’m happy for the chances that Cudicini gets. Cech has already managed about 7 clean sheets so far, the highest so far in this edition of the premier league. There it is, Cudicini has a very tough benchmark to emulate.
Before I forget, here is my report card on Avram Grant so far. I’ve tried to evaluate Avram’s stint so far in Chelsea. You can find this article titled ‘The Evolution of Avram Grant‘ under the category ‘Debates’ in the right-side bar.
I always enjoy the matches that involve Everton. They have very good team playing good football. We’ve had some interesting matches with them and Drogba would be their man to watch. 2-0 for me.
So.. we should win this game because everton have 5 people injuried
We should see Drogba and lampard
BLuE DeViL : 5 injuried players , I don’t think so , some of them can play.
Chelsea 2-0 Everton
Cech is injured but I am not worried at all. we have another good Goal keeper.

I would like to Sheva and Sidwell in this game.
@Maysam: The formation is well and god, though I would have liked someone better to do the holding midfield. How many redcards have Mikel picked up? So many that I lost count of it. Maybe Makele, but he’s too old and slow to be there. Essien could be, and that’d limit his attacking potential.
Here’s my fav formation:

Blumigos! Here is the new article on Avram Grant – ‘The Evolution of Avram Grant‘.
Hi Guys,
Everton, M’Boro, Newcastle,Liverpool are the teams that regularly troubled JM’s Chelsea..
Everton is a tough team to beat..Home or away..Its an advantage that Arteta and AJ are out..
However we are missing Cech..we can debate all we want about Cudicini’s ability to fill in n stuff..but the truth is Cudicini is nowhere near Cech..Cech has single handedly sved us so many times over the last 3 plus years..hes the best GK on earth along with Buffon…I just our defence can support Cudicni well..
I would like Grant to try a 4-4-2 with Sheva n Drogba…

Somehow…. something…. tells me Chelsea is getting a bit boring these days…
you know… we’re not that much in the news anymore, not seen as contenders for trophies that much….another team in transition…… quiet as a church on the official website……. lots of politically correct corporate mumblings a la miss universe style… from players and manager ….. not even much venom from fans of other teams …..
pointwise not up or down that much….. playing style still a work in so-called progress….
My … how it is so different from some time ago….
We gotta spice it up some way ! KTBFFH !
We need some Oomphhhh !

I opt for 4 4 2 in order to see a new set up today and also 2 strikers starting upfront will keep Everton at bay and we will be able to attack more. Shevy will create more space for drogba. I just hope our midfield will do up their game( lampard and essien ) There is no holding role here and the midfield will be porous and allow an open game for everton.
But if Everton play with 4-5-1 then there will be a problem with our midfield to contain them, though with 4-4-2 we should break them down with the help of our wingers only if they keep up their game as well.
We should be winning this match by 2-1 precisely and miraculously winning by many goals like mancity macth.
Up blue
Damn , I hate Liverpool.
i would like to see sheva playing from the begining..

n’ 2-0′or-3-0 .. 100% sure that we’ll beat Everton
nobody can’t stop us anymore .. and i’m hopin to see BaLLack back as soon as possibL ..
The most underrated striker in Chelsea is Pizarro. When will the team realise the asset we have in this intelligent and selfless striker? if this team wants to see lots more chances created in the last third, chances created not just for Drogs and lamp but also for essien, the wingers and even some of the attacking full backs, then its high time we gave Pizarro more playing time. His link up play is super. but his real strength lies in those intelligent balls in space around the 18 yard that cause such agony to opponents. when will we realise this?
And when terry comes back, what about letting super Alex trying the role of the holding midfielder? That guy is a Brazilian- I mean a natural bundle of talent going forward and passing. we may be surprised how he will fit in there and increase our options.
Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows:
23 Carlo Cudicini
35 Juliano Belletti
33 Alex
6 Ricardo Carvalho
18 Wayne Bridge
5 Michael Essien
12 John Mikel Obi
8 Frank Lampard (c)
24 Shaun Wright-Phillips
15 Didier Drogba
10 Joe Cole
Shaun Wright-Phillips returns to the Chelsea three-man attack having made way for Florent Malouda midweek in Germany.
Joe Cole and Didier Drogba will make up the rest of the forward line while the midfield behind them is the one that dominated Man City in the last league outing here.
Despite Ashley Cole’s return to the squad, Wayne Bridge retains his place with Cole not making the bench. As expected, Carlo Cudicini takes over from calf injury victim Petr Cech.
Everton make two changes from their last league outing. Tony Hibbert returns at right-back so skipper Phil Neville looks set to play in midfield. The other change is also at full-back with Nuno Valente returning.
Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows:
23 Carlo Cudicini
35 Juliano Belletti
33 Alex
6 Ricardo Carvalho
18 Wayne Bridge
5 Michael Essien
12 John Mikel Obi
8 Frank Lampard (c)
24 Shaun Wright-Phillips
15 Didier Drogba
10 Joe Cole
Substitutes: 40 Hilario, 22 Tal Ben-Haim, 21 Salomon Kalou, 14 Claudio Pizarro, 7 Andriy Shevchenko.
LOL…..that cement sack cum wrestler Drogba couldn’t put ball into am empty goal from 2 yards….
Nitesh – that tells you how much football you know. 1-0 Chelsea. Rocking header from the cement sack.
Take that!
