News Roundup | Lampard & Drogba
Some quick news roundup. Lampard talks about his priorities and why he needs Drogba on his side. Will Frankie be a Juventus player by summer? More and more key rival players going out of action. Read on!
Lampard has spoken to Daily Star about what is important to him and his career. He is very clear that this England ‘thing’ is not important to him when compared to Chelsea. It’s like music to my ears. I’ll wait for the day he retires from international football and devotes all his time to Chelsea.
The England thing is not important to me at the moment. What is important is playing well for Chelsea. When you’re playing well and on top of your game, you’ve got a feeling of confidence. Then there are times during the season when you feel like you can’t put a pass straight. I’ve dropped below the standards I want to set in the past. What player doesn’t. I have nothing to prove. The more experience you get in football, the more you realise that you don’t take notice of what someone wants to say about you isn’t involved in football or is just a fan.
Lampard also said why he wants Drogba to stay at Chelsea:
He’s the best, it’s as simple as that. There are different types of player - Wayne Rooney is a world-class player who comes off and creates and scores. As an out-and-out striker, there’s no-one better than Didier. His all-round game: pace, power, team player, scores goals with his head and his feet. He’s the best I’ve played with. He’s a great lad to have in the dressing room and always fights to the end. The way he’s played in the last 18 months, there’s no-one better in world football. It’s very important (to keep him) because players like Didier you want beside you. He makes his decisions but when he’s here playing for us, even with all the controversy that’s been around for the last week, his performances show what he is all about.
May be, this paragraph really sums up what Didier Drogba is all about. He’s the best and he’s different and he performs and he stuns. Wish both Drogba and Lampard stay with us. There are rumours that Lampard would be a Juventus player in May, should Juve make it to the champions league next season.
Some more interesting rumours. The agent of Villareal coach Pellegrini claims that he was contacted by Chelsea to find out about his client, at some point after JM’s exit. Also there are strong rumours about Chelsea’s winter bid on Gareth Barry. Both Mikel and Essien would be out in Jan for ACN. Ballack, Maka and Sidwell would be around but Avram might go for this versatile England international who’s really impressed in Euro 2008 qualifiers. And, SWP is reportedly an unhappy player now who’s made his stance very clear to Grant. It’s reported that his unhappiness is because that he’s not played enough. Strange! He must have been an unhappy player all through his Chelsea career then!
Injury news! Not that of Chelsea. We’ve had our share last season. We knew that van Persie was out. Now, the news is Torres is out for three weeks and Scholes out of three months. Pennant, Mascherano, Alonso are all out for many weeks. If Liverpool gets eliminated in the group stages, and these key players are missing for weeks, we could be seeing Rafa’s last season with Liverpool. The scousers have been believing that this is their season. They had all the money to spend, they bought good players and injuries cannot be an excuse in club football. Ask JM.
Okay now, I should consider that this new theme is a hit with an overwhelming majority finding this to be ‘great’. As you can see, this theme allows me to do various things (below paragraph will further testify) including the placement of ads.
Finally, some exciting blog news. If you scroll down in the home page, on the bottom left corner, you’d see a new section called ‘Blumigos‘, where I want to see your articles published. What does Blumigos mean? Nothing, I just made it up. I just added Blues and Amigos and there is Blumigos! This is your playground. This is where YOUR articles will get published. I’m not planning to edit your article for any reason at all. As long as there are no abusive language in the articles, I’m pretty much planning to publish what you forward me. Something very similar to the comment rules. You may or may not be supporting Chelsea, you may or may not subscribe to my views, you write and I publish. Send in your articles in txt files to admin@bluechampions.com
So Blumigos, let’s kick off!

BC , why don’t indian guys know how to play soccer as well as they talk about soccer.
Yesterday we played versus an indian team , we won 15-0
, it was soccer , not handball , don’t make mistake ,
I told some of them to send you email maybe you can help them to play better
by the way , I cannot find that blue amigos .
Amigo adiós
Well if it’s on XBOX 360, I can give you a glimpse of the Indian challenge. I’m strong on defence and tactics and believe in build-up play. If you mean playing with your feet and actually kicking the ball around, that’s always better seen than played ;-)
BTW, you should find the ‘Blumigos’ section in the bottom left of the home page. It’s very much there!

hey sorry to interfere @2 and BC. come on india did have some great players in the likes of I M vijayan, C V papachan and butia. and if i am not wrong,we did win somthing in olympics, didnt we ? Why dont more people play football in india?, very strange when you see around the globe, every littile country trying to build a team and have a littile go and we dont really give it a good support. any opinions on why we dont really give football too much importance ?

@mourofessien
*Are you so forgetful? Are you saying Jose was the cause of lamp’s drop in form last year? If so do you credit him for lamp’s amazing form in our season winning campaign?
like it or not lamp in his each season with jose has only detoriated as what you call a playmaker………..[atleast in my books he detoriated]…………and improved as goalscoring machine…………….lasty season…….when lamps got ball anywhere near the d………………all he was doing was shooting……shooting and shooting…………no wonder the goals came………….assists came caus he played behind the strikers not caus he was functioning as atleast what i call a playmaker.
*What about Paolo? Is that the first time you have seen him play that well? what of what of he did in the FA final last season reducing C Ronaldo into an idle passenger?
i never mentioned the defensive instinct of paolo…………i mentioned the attacking instict………….and as for cheater ronaldo……….he is yet to score a goal without tappin the ball or heading the ball in this season and if i m not wrong he does not have assist even…………cr7 is one of those over-hyped man utd right wingers………..he comes into the mould of super-hyped beckham……..
*Essien was looking like a playmaker? so that is the first time you have seen essien play like that for chelsea, huh? You have never seen essien surging forward, making through passes and scoring goals for us?
essien role is not a playmaker………….he is a midfield of defensive mould
*So as far you are concerned, we were winning only 1-0 while Mour was here? can you honestly tell me the last time chelsea played a team that was so lax in defending and gave us so much space and time on the ball?
you know what is the difference between grt team and a good team………..grt team makes good defense look like shite…………………we outplayed them…simple
*just last wednesday against shalke, we had lots of difficulties because they were very combative and gave us little space- we won alright but it was our dogged determination that saw us thro at home.
this is obvious when we play a big team………..to be honest we were the better team by miles…………they had their chances obviously but nothin extraordinary except that header which hit the post.
i don’t expect to win against big teams by more than 2-0…………..but what about small teams……………1-0 against them
*lay off Jose and please do not commit sacrilege by even comparing grant to Jose. one is a true legend the other is a wannabe whose ass is being covered by the determination of the players and the talent of Tein cate.
it was avram or roman who hired ten cate…………….not the other way round
*Lets say it this way- Jose plays not to lose and tein cate (am glad when the comparison does not involve grant) plays to win.
The italians play the first one and the dutch play the second one-
which of these two nations is the bigger and more successful football nation? Italy. is it because the azurris entertain more? No.
it is because their philosophy makes them more successful.
italy won the world cup………..i don’t care…………..as i have mentioned earlier it’s not ONLY about trophies………..italy are no longer a force caus due to their defence…………..their attack is as good as defense……….and take a survey or a poll or whatever……………brazil, france, germany, argentina all have more fans and respect than the italy national team…………the problem with dutch is that they are completely based on attack…………they lack decent defenders……….but their performance wether in wc or euro is always worth applauding.
*ask a team like New castle, Blackburn, Bolton which they would choose between being successful and being entertainers and they will tell you the former- why? because victory is the ultimate. After a while, once they have become used to victory, the human crave for more will ask for something extra.
So while we do not begrudge your desire for more (wish you could have been a gunner though over the last three years to fully experience that entertainment), please do well not to take anything from the solid accomplishemnt the team has chalked over the last three seasons.
the teams you have mentioned are mid-table teams who for once will demand victory over anything but once sucess is established……………they will want entertainment……..we no longer come into the mould of the teams you have mentioned………..three years back yes…….now no………….we come into the mould of man utd,l’pool,le arse,barca,real,milan,inter,bayern………..and everyone of the mentioned teams demand flair and as grant says it positive football.
and yes even if chelsea gets relegated[god forbid it ever happens],i will support the blues…………and even if le’arse does a quadruple i DON’T CARE
@nihongo blue
*what did that reading do to a team of man utds calibre before that match?? any answer??
ever heard the word “out of form”…….that’s what man utd were in the beginning…………they have started reaching their potentials by now and already threatning gunners for 1st place…………now you are going to come out saying……………..so were we…………..but that’s not the case…..it was a typical jose victory………..it happens almost everyday
@Blue Champion
M_D: Welcome back. Attractive and dangerous football? We’ve been down that road before. There is a distinctive gap in the way I appreciate football and you (TBF too) do. Please don’t ignore that the defence is as important as offence. Defence is not to be treated like scavenging. If a team defends poorly and still scores 3 goals, you have to say they played poorly and lucky not to be punished. I saw that it’s not difficult to pierce the Arsenal defence after all. If you stop them from scoring, a top class team can pierce their defence with ease. A good tactical manager can always wear them down. Arsene Wenger could never beat Jose Mourinho because they can always be tactically overwhelmed.
who said i don’t appreciate defence……………..le’ arse never won against cfc caus of the simple reason………………
1.inferiorty of le’ arse squad when compared to cfc………..arsene plays his second string team in all cup comptetions……so cut them out………even in carling final i was gutted we won 2-1 when we wre playing with kids that too novice
2.mourinho’s tactics against big teams were the only thing i can admire………..but his tactic again simply was defend with even more superiority………
7. arthur
tbf - you’ve written so much but you’re wrong. i think you started watching us from 06-07 or you have serious memory issues
8. arthur
another proof of yovr short memory - wenger could not beat JM even with his golden squad. JM beat wenger at highbury 2-0 in front of all their stars
9. JoseHoliday
TBF
Having trouble comprehending u buddy !
10. crew
same here mate. tbf is a confused kid i guess. i watched the replay of liv-arse match. arseys were indeed bad until they scored. it was liverpool’s match not to win. typical arsenal - keep passing and lose the ball before it matters.
11. True Blue Fusion
@ARTHUR
be concerned with you own memory………..i m not here to pick up a fight
1 match……….such a grt achievement…………….aston villa is undefeated at their home ground when opponent is us…….from god knows how many years…………does that means anything
12. True Blue Fusion
@CREW
To begin i m not a kid………..second you are the second one on the blog who says l’pool was better than le’ arse
13. JoseHoliday
The true tests that RA, AV and TC will meet are :
1. The X’mas crunch times
2. The African Cup period
3. The CL knockouts
4. The FA & Carling latter stages
5. Trips to Anfield and O’ Trafford
Then we shall truely see their mettle.
14. JoseHoliday
Hey TBF
I said Arsey was a headless chicken until Fablegas’s toe-poke in the last thread . So that makes three.
15. crew
what is your point tbf? please tell us in one-liners. you want to say JM was bad for chelsea style of football in 04-05, 05-06 and 06-07. go ahead. not that you’re going to convince us. btw i like ten cate. very good successor for JM.
16. True Blue Fusion
@CREW
The point is simple…………………………people here, even the bloggist is not ready to move on……………….this blog looks more like mourinholovers.com rather that bluechampions.com.
i m not here to critisize mourinho…………..he did grt for us……….but now the time is to move on…………………….here people are more avram/roman hater[jose lover] than chelsea fans
17. jiday
Are u guys sure this chap is a chelsea fan? Meanwhile, can somebody tell me if SWP is still a chelsea player?cos i’m quite suprised he doesnt even make the bench anymore.i think chelsea should start thinking about that cos we are gonna be losing a number of players to african nations cup…
what does some1 think about comparing terry and alex?
18. Blue Champion
TBF
The reason is simple. This is not a website with an editorial board of 10 people headed by senior editors so that the views are mellowed and evened out. I, as a football fan, write what I feel. If I like JM, I write that. If I like Rooney, I write that too. If I hate Lehmann I write that. Quite normal.
In fact, I’ve really moved on. Read the last few posts. I’m not making any comparisons or whatever. I’ve stopped taking JM’s name itself, no more references to him. It is your remarks that have restarted the whole debate.
Everything might change except one thing - I write what I feel like. Just like you comment. I dont pretend to be some authority on football or Chelsea. I have my opinions and I express them.
I don’t appreciate your comments on the blog title. If I were such a big fan of Jose Mourinho and not so much of Chelsea, this blog won’t be here by this time. I’ve made myself clear that I’m quite successful in my professional life and this blog is just my passion and I literally earn 100 times in the professional career than from this blog. Once again, I don’t appreciate my integrity or loyalty towards Chelsea being made fun of.
19. jiday
guys please its time to move on from mourihno,he aint coming back,so why talk about him?i’ll like to see ten cate as the head coach,i know he is the brain behind this attacking success…
20. JoseHoliday
When people discuss family matters ,they include the living, the dead .the banished , the missing , the prospective new members etc etc etc.
So it is with football fans , My dear TBF
Well, we might be meeting your ” the one who must not be named anymore” in a match against Valencia soon if the rumours come about.

Some Quick News Roundup
*Avram Grant went to russia to watch the 10million pounds rated serbia u-21 star “Branislav Ivanovic”[utility player]covers whole defense and midfield-the sun
*avram handed 60 million pounds warchest by roman…………swp on his way out-daily express
*chelsea offer 20 million pounds for van der vaart-various
26. JoseHoliday
Hey TBF look at it this way
The more we flay RA for his decisions, the more more dough he’s gotta cough up to placate us fans.
The more we critique AG ,the more faster he moves his butt and works real hard to get along with the players and make then play their best.
The more we talk abt TSO, the faster PK looks into getting us a coach who’s got better long term prospects.
AG’s doin great meanwhile : Full credit to him and some but ….
a little negative criticism and timely comparison never hurt anyone…..
Hey we might be be ushering ol’ AG into the best time of his life… you know…
….. by cracking the whip …. making him more committed to serving CFC and RA…
Hey AG if ur reading us on the sly … keep up the good work….. cos u know what we’re gonna be like if u can’t get the job done…..
It’s ur job to lose and our love to win…..

I feel the triumvirate which has been formed at cfc may succeed
avram grant
—————
more or less the ceremonial head…………..likely to oversee the developement………..but not involved in anything as a person……………he may turn out to be a media darling caus he is not the kind of man who will start any kind of so called mental games………he is unlikely to bash any player in public
though we have the motion he is underexperienced, actually in theoretical language……………he has worked in close coresspondance with most of the big managers[arsene, ericsson etc]………….he has seen their training…………and he seems to have more than decent man management skill
to put it simply he may be loved by media.
henk ten cate
——————
this is the man who is replacing TSO as the trainer…..who overlooks personally how the team evolves………he comes with the reputation of boot camp methods……………strict training, discipline……………and he is actually the person who can give free flowin[flair] footy to cfc as roman demands
has huge european experience at highest level………..will be the one actually deciding the tactics along with steve clarke
he is the person who is most likely to win the confidence of player in the new regime………and their respect
steve clarke
—————–
someone who already commands respect from the squad and share emotional bond with many………………..i dare say that’s why TSO was shown the door after transfer window closed…………roman has the hunch he may retain the best player by convincing them by the time next transfer window opens………has huge experience in the league…………9 years with rainieri and mourinho………….so will help cate and avram to have understanding of the english game……………

I think that we should swop Drogba for Et’o.
34. Maysam
@Michael Mariens : I don’t think that’s a good idea because nobody knows How Etto’o comes out in Enlish premier leaue .
I think they have to buy Anelka , Bolton is unstable, Anelkais a big striker , wants to play in CL for big clubs , He is header, shooter , dribbler , everything you can say about a pure striker.
If I was grant I would go for him un January , well it is obviouse that Drogba will not be in chelsea next season. we cannot wait till then.
BUT , here is a big BUT , if Sheva prepared , we would not need to buy any striker in Jan, we can wait till the endo f the season

Some interesting rumors
1- Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is offering boss Avram Grant a new three-year contract after his successful start.
***** That’s not good , it is too soon .
2-Jose Mourinho has been targeted by Valencia since the Spanish club sacked coach Quique Sanchez Florez.
3-Chelsea boss Avram Grant wants to beat Juventus and Inter Milan to the signing of £10m utility man Branislav Ivanovic.
4-Shaun Wright-Phillips could leave Chelsea to make way for Hamburg’s Rafael van der Vaart.
****** That’s what i call a good move , However Shaun is a good player too
38. Michael Mariens
Maysam:
In a team you’ll need at least five forwards.
The first four are the ones who are going to play in the premiership and Cup competitions.
The fifth forward is going to be a reserve in case one of the first four top forwards gets injured.
But..
would Anelka be considered as a replacement for Drogba? No. I would guess 9/10 would agree with me.
.. he would be considered as a reserve forward like Allidaire (Arsenal) or Rossi (Man Utd).
but..
And finally, Et’o would be a straight replacement for Drogba.
39. Michael Mariens
Maysam: Its late and I’m tired!
You keep bringing up Zola as if he was or is great.
legends: Ronaldiniho, Pele, Ronaldo, Maradona, Best, Mathews, etc.
Ordinary players: Zola, Di Mateo etc.
I’m not being mean.
40. Maysam
@Michael Mariens : I believe chelsea needs 3 good strikers and one young striker.
Sheva and Pizarro are good
Kalou is young , in addition , we have sinclair too.
I like Anelka. I don’t wanna a big striker from other leagues , just look at Sheva. I prefer Roby Kean better than Etto’o .
About Legend , well it depends on you.
If tv shows something about Zola, or Desailly or lebouf , Wise , Ferrer , Petrescue, Flo , Sutton , De goey , Poyet , Sam Dalla Bona, JFH , Di Matteo , or vialli I like to watch better than a program about Ronaldinho or Pele or Maradona .
who is Pele ? I have never watched his games , I just watch some highlights of that , I don’t know what kind of player he was, I don’t count on what other peopple say about him . PELE is not a legend for me, maybe he is for my father.
Ronaldinho , he is far from being legend , being legend is not just play good and score 100000 goals, Zola is legend becasue he left chelsea but we still love him , Ronaldinho left PSG , but they don’t give a damn to him anymore.
Zola is my legend.
to me chelsea’s players are the best, that’s why I support them.
41. Nihongo Blue
@maysam
ben sahar is returning in january.. he may be used in fa and carling cup matches . may be in league also. may be used as a reserve asmartin mentioned.
How many matches do we have when the ACN? when will they leave for ACN .. a month before or a week before? how many of them get exhausted in ACN? how many of them get injured in ACN as its tough there?
wll have to plan the whole 2nd half of season for the worst possibilities as thats the most imp time.

Hey U guys
do u know if AG ’s ever been involved in a sex scandal or cheated on his wife or two -timed girl friends or started having sex at 14 ?
He’s 52 and should have had some promiscous period in his life.
Well if he had any and could keep ‘em under wraps so well so no paparazzi has dug ‘em yet …. he must be one hell of a guy …. although expect the papa to be on his trail by now !
RA seems to have been more interested in the female half of the world population than AG and still is…… but since he changed partners the same year that he changed coaches……. hmmmm….. very suspicious…. must work on that angle………. the new girl looks clever and maybe even a little on the bossy side ….. Maybe when RA dumps her we can all expect…… AG to be out in the cold too…. dunno …… RA’s got this ruthless squeeze all u can outta them them dump ‘em thing … that it might be possible …. that coaches and girly partners hook-ups might be linked…….
Me going cuckoo again
45. JoseHoliday
I am suspicious of Sheva the Diva and his wife, the diva of Sheva ,
What are they really doing in England ?
Sheva originally said he was not in London for the money ….. I believed that and I still do ……
Course he’s not here for the money…… he’s there for the SHOPPING !
While he’s at it, Glen Johnson is so poor to pay for drinks he starts nicking toilet seats……….
No wonder JM felt it was time to leave.
PK must have wanted all the players and their wives on the Chelsea shopping channel … and as only Sheva and his diva were for the idea … a irrecon..ble breakdown in opinions occured and JM was out the door.
Any other theories on what goes on at our club ?
46. MourofEssien
Anelka in january? that will be fine by me. Remember he is the leading french striker at the moment and he also has a knack for goals. knows the EPL through and thro and will not mind fighting for a place after Drogs and Kalou are back. Plus Bolton might not make it too tough.
47. JoseHoliday
I don’t care about Drogba , the player who says “I don’t want to play for chelsea” has no place in my mind. I like to see prepared sheva as soon as possible or Anelka.
